It was an ordinary day, and Clair was in her backyard, waiting for her boyfriend's arrival. She was so excited to see him after weeks of separation due to the fact that they didn't attend the same school, and were too busy. Her heart skipped a beat when she saw his car pull over, he got out and gave her a hug. She could sense that he wasn't his usual self, and that worried her. He looked deep into her worried eyes, and she could see regret in his. She asked him what was wrong, and if he wanted to share, he sighed and sat her down on the porch. He began to explain that their whole relationship was a lie, she was beyond shocked, she asked him why? He said that it was a dare by his friends, to see if he was able to trick her into believing he loved and cared for her. Tears glazed her eyes, she looked at him with so much hate, and put all her strength and sadness into a slap, which caught him off guard. By the time he finished, tears were pouring down her face, and her breath was staggering. It was all fake, the hugs, the kisses, the I love you-s,  their late night conversations and their dates. Everything was fake, and she just couldn't believe it, how could people like him exist? Why would a person want to cause any sort of pain to another fellow human?
What did she do to deserve this?
I believe because the world is full of pain and cruelty.
