The sun beat down on us as we ran, Shannan tackled me to the ground as the mountainous, coal-colored bird swooped down. The tan skinned girl growled as she helped me up. Her eyes briefly flicked up to Jatayu before she grabbed a hold of my wrist, pulling me along. “I thought Jatayu was supposed to have gained nirvana or something. Shouldn't he be all wise and NOT trying to kill us!?”

“Can't believe in everything you hear.” I managed to breath out, yanking Shannan out of harm's way. Vicious, razor-sharp talons digging into the earth. “Okay, how we gonna stop… it?”

“What about the crystal that lady gave us? It started glowing through my bag when the stone started to crack.” My friend spoke as she reached into her messenger bag, pulling out the palm-sized object that glowed even now. “Alright, I'll distract it while you figure out how to work the magical thingy.” The golden haired female said as she dashed off. Screaming and waving her arms about like a blundering idiot.

The girl's obnoxious actions causing the eagle-like bird’s sharp, golden eyes to move over to her figure. A screech leaving it's beaks as it arced and flew after Shannan as she ran.

My own eyes moving to the brilliant crystal which began to pulse in my hands. “How am I going to -” The pulsing got quicker as the crystal began to hum. My eyes looked back to see Shannan fall to the ground. If the crystal didn't work she was probably done for. “Come on, WORK!”

A bright golden light shot from the crystal. Morphing itself into a golden chain of light which seemed to hone in on Jatayu. The bird shrieked once more before it tried flying off and away from its captor. Completely ignoring Shannan who let out what looked like a sigh before she hurriedly limped back to me. Her gaze locked on the bright chain as they twirled through the air after the bird.

The crystal heated up as the chain got closer to the bird. So much so that I felt like my hands were burning. And yet, I couldn't release the object. Shannan quickly seemed to notice as she attempted to rip it from my palms. Only to find the same result as me.

It was as if the chain had more energy now. Easily reaching forward and ensnared the great bird who lunged and lurched as it attempted to flee. Its body dissipated into a black mist which gradually darkened the chains. Until, with one final screech, it had disappeared. It's image now seen in the smooth reflection of the crystal's surface, flying threw the sky. The crystal’s glow died as the hum went mute.

As we drew our eyes away from the crystal, the old woman who gave us the strange object limped towards us. “Congratulations, you're the only two to tame Jatayu.” She said. “Quite honestly, I believed you'd end up like the rest… Dead.”
