A Two O'clock Walk.
The pale moon's light was the only thing which illuminated the dark and dreary streets of Sleepy Hollow. My figure slinking along within the shadows, with few humans daring to be out at so frightful and hour - when none but the skeptically brave or those drunk on liquid courage would have the guts to leave the safety of a building.
From along the dimly lit streets, my fellow Vampir could be seen. Close, but not close enough to attract attention, especially not when hunters could be in the area. But, it was painfully obvious that they were all awaiting the same thing as I - a hapless human.
They all seemed to look back at the bar and then just as quickly look away. However, this gesture simply made them look off to even the most drunken fool who simply walked off in another direction. No, if they were going to get food, they needed to wait just a few moments longer.
With little time the clock struck two and two loud tolls rang out as humans poured out of the bar. Laughing and staggering about with little care.
Continuing along at a leisurely pace, I eventually was tapped on the shoulder by a young man. He smiled, but not in a drunken way. Brave-fool. “You’d look better if you smiled, miss.” The stupid boy spoke.
I turned around and flashed him my widest smile, but even with my bloodstained teeth bared he did nothing but smile back, unfearful. I had a horrible feeling.
Suddenly, I realized that there wasn't anyone on the streets anymore. Not even the other Vampir…
My eyes widened as I took a few steps back. My typical frown worming its way onto my features as a scream reached my ears. “DHAMPIR,” It was a warning made all to late - we were as good as dead.
“Don't worry, unlike the others, we might have a use for you,” with almost lightning quick reflexes, he had plunged a syringe into my shoulder. I fell backward. The last thing that I had seen was the crest blazed across his chest. These were no ordinary Dhampir.
"Hunters..."
