Hickory Dickory Dock
Hickory Dickory Dock,
The room echoed with the sound, it sounded eerily like music or a rhyme. Then it stopped, a scratching noise took its place. Something was coming down the hallway. I was sure I was alone but then what could it be?
The mouse ran up the clock.
A mouse squeaked at me as it ran pst, fleeing from whatever was coming towards me. I make my way to the doorway to look out, there was nothing. Not a thing could be seen. The thin layer of dust still lay on the ground, only my footprints visible.
The clock struck twelve,
"Bong! Bong! Bong!" A clock somewhere in the house rang out, causing me to jump. As soon as the clock became silent the scratching noise returned. It was behind me now, down the other side of the hallway. I turn quickly, watching in confusion as claw marks began to appear in the wallpaper. Sending some of the paper to curl up onto the ground. The paper seemed to fear the invisible creature, shrinking away from it.
The mouse ran down!
The mouse again, I felt it's little feet skitter across my shoe. I was distracted just long enough for the monster to attack, knocking me into the wall. Claw marks appearing across my chest as I scream in pain. I push against the invisible force and try to flee down the hall way.
Hickory Dickory Dock.
The creature grabs my leg in a crushing grip, claws digging into my skin as it drags me to the ground. I reach for the door handle, my only escape. I grasp it and then scream "NO!" As the monster drags me back. Thrashing I try to escape its grip.
It drags me to the end of the hall, the darkest part where the one room I had yet to explore lay. The door slams shut behind me as I'm dragged into the room. The disturbed dust settles as the house is once again silent. The clock rings out again to mark the hour. A death at midnight, silence at one.
