The Jewels Mission
Carter
"You'll never get me to tell you where the jewels are!"Nathan said.
I smiled. "You right," I said.
I'm sure I'll find a way.
"Haha, so go home!" Nathan said he was sitting on a couch.
I was in the doorway of the front door. I took a few steps forward.
"Stop right there!" Nathan said.
I put my hands in the air. "I'm unarmed; no need to worry, Nathan."
"I'm sure you are," He spoke with sarcasm in his voice.
"I remember reading somewhere that the jewels you're hiding are cursed." I lied.
"Yeah, whatever," Nathan said; he's not convinced.
"It's true; the fact that you found the jewels proves that they are. Who do you know that wants to keep cursed jewels around their house?" I asked.
Nathan looked at me, somewhat convinced. "Then prove it, carter." He said; he got up from the couch and walked over to me.
He cuffed me. "Go sit on that couch; let's see if the jewels are cursed."
He walked over to his fridge and grabbed some soda, then walked over to his pantry and grabbed some chips. He snacked on them, keeping an eye on me.
I think about how I got this mission.
"Nathan has done it again!" My commander yelled.
I rushed over to his side. "What has he done, sir?" I asked.
"He stole the jewels that came from the museum." He explained. "Carter, are you ready for another mission?"
"Yes, sir, I am," I said.
I love going on missions because I'm an action kind of dude. Working in intelligence is my passion.
"First thing you need to do is locate Nathan's lair; I'm already sure he has one." My commander said.
I took down some notes.
"Once you find him, you find the jewels. Or try to get him to tell you where they are."
"That I can do." I nodded.
"Good, because we are counting on you, Carter."
I nodded. "I won't let you down, sir."
That's how I got here. A few hours passed, and Nathan started talking.
"It doesn't look to me that those jewels are cursed," Nathan stated.
"We'll maybe-"
"Shut up. I'm selling those jewels tonight." Nathan said.
"When are you gonna let me go?" I asked.
"An hour after I sell the jewels." He explained.
I rolled my eyes. "Why are you selling them? You're going to curse the person who buys them."
"Then that's their problem." He got up, walked into the bathroom.
I take that chance to call my partner. I used a paper clip to unlock the cuffs so my hands were free. I slipped the cuffs into my pocket.
I called my partner Owen.
"Please pick up," I mumbled.
"Hey Carter, wassup?"
"Hey, Owen, I need a favor."
After I made the phone call, I put my phone back in my pocket. Then I put my hands behind my back.
A few seconds, Nathan came out of the bathroom. That was close.
We waited a few more hours. Nathan is pacing around. "Where is he? He was supposed to be here thirty minutes ago!"
Somebody's getting nervous.
"Maybe he's just late."
Nathan looked at me with rage; then he walked over to me. He grabbed my shirt and pushed me into the wall. "If I find out you had something to do with this," He had me pinned up against the wall. "I will kill you!"
"How could I have anything to do with this?" I asked. "I've been with you the whole time."
I still had to keep my hands behind my back. He walked me over to the couch.
"Sit." He growled, pointing to the couch.
I did as told. He left the living and went into his room. I think he's grabbing a gun.
I checked my phone. I got a message from Owen.
7:15 pm
Owen: I took out the buyer; it was not easy
10:00 pm
Me: Thanks. I owe you
I put the phone back in my pocket, and I put my hands back behind my back.
Nathan came out with a gun.
"What are you going to do with that gun?" I asked.
"To make sure you don't run or do anything stupid." He said. "Get up."
I stood up. "Don't do anything stupid; I already called the police." I bluffed.
"There's no way you did that. Your hands are cuffed." He said in disbelief.
"Think again," I said, showing him my hands.
He pointed at me and yelled. "Impossible!"
"Just tell me where the jewels are; you can say you found them. Then you won't get arrested." I tried to bargain with him calmly.
I'm standing up; I'm not afraid that he's going to shoot me.
"Fine." He said, giving up; he sat down on the couch. "In my room, under my bed. There is a safe; the code is 140."
I got up slowly. "You're not going to shoot me or anything, right?"
He shook his head.
"Great." I walked into his bedroom. I found the safe, and I put the code in and grabbed the jewels.
I'm glad he didn't give me the wrong code. I called the police and walked out of the room. I have a few minutes to get out of there.
10:05 pm
Owen: If you need a ride, I'm here.
10:20 pm
Me: I do, thanks, man. I'll be out in a little bit.
10:20 pm
Owen: Alright, waiting on you.
I walked out of the room. Nathan was still on the couch.
I reached into my pocket and handcuffed him, and put the jewels next to him.
He looked up at me, confused. "What are you doing?"
"Making the job easier for the police," I said. "Goodbye, good luck, Nathan."
"I cannot believe I didn't see that coming!" Nathan said.
I walked out the door and caught a ride with Owen.
He drove away just as the cops showed up.
"Thanks, man, I owe you one."
"No problem," Owen said. "You did well." He said proudly.
