There once was a girl who had always had a crush on her best friend, though he had always rejected her. Soon he had started to see her less and less, until he barely had contact with her anymore. He didn't know that every night while he peacefully drifted off to sleep, the girl would always be crying until she eventually passed out due to exhaustion. One day, the boy got a call from a local hospital.

"Hello?"

"Sir, you must come to the local hospital immediately."

"Alright, I'm coming."

He arrived at the hospital and was taken to room 394. There he saw the girl, hooked up to hundreds of wires, her head had not a strand of hair left. She looked at him with tear stains on her cheeks and eyes full of tears. She smiled and reached for him. Tears streamed down the boy's face as he walked cautiously towards her, taking her hand and kneeling beside her fragile body.  "I'm glad you could...make it..." She said weakly, resulting in a coughing fit. More tears fell from the boy's eyes. "Why didn't you tell me?"

"I didn't...want you to...worry..."

"I'm worried now... Please don't go..."

The doctor entered the room. "Sir, I'm afraid we were not able to treat her in time... Please say your last goodbyes."With this, the doctor left. "Wh-What?! NO! You can't leave me!" 

"It's...no use..." The girl said, coughing up blood. 

"I-...I remember all the times...you said 'I love you'...and I just turned you down?"

"Y-Yes..."

"I'm sorry... For not telling you sooner.."

"Not telling me what?"

"...I..."

Just then, the girl coughed up more blood, but this time was more severely. She collapsed onto the bed. A sound that the boy would remember all his life ringed in his ears.
