He heard the familiar ting followed by an almost silent screech.

"Congratulations, you've been taken up," the mechanic voice recited opening the door.

In the ten years that he has spent in this building, that elevator has been his favorite place to hang out. It sure knows how to greet the commuters, he thought grinning wide.

"For those who've just boarded, be ready to be dragged down," It recited again closing the door behind him.
