Can I write as part of a series?

Yes, as long as the book you write is prompt-driven and understandable without reading the other books.

Can the story be collaborative?

Yes, but only one profile can post it in the participant's forms and the same account must do it each time.

Can I write more than one short story?

Yes! You can enter up to three using three different prompts.

Can I write more than 1000 words for the first benchmark?

Yes, of course. In fact, we encourage you to write as much as possible!

Can my completed story be more than 7000 words?

No. The contest is geared so that the short stories must be between 5000 and 7000 words.

When are the benchmarks?

1st 1000 word milestone is March 15th, 2022. The 2000 milestone is March 29th, 2022. The 5000 world milestone is April 12th, 2022 and the completed story (between 5000 and 7000 words) needs to be finished by April 26th, 2022.

Can I include my story in an already existing anthology?

No, please put your story in a stand-alone book so that the judges don't have to hunt for it. We encourage the use of the tags #ShortDreams2022 and #TeamofDreams.

Can I split my story into chapters?

Yes, of course! In fact, we encourage it. Wattpad gurus tell us that the sweet spot length for a chapter is about 1800 words.
