Chapter 1: (Y/N) the Hiccup

"Dragons, they are mystical creatures of old. No one knows where they came from... no one knows where they went. Back in the golden age, dragons and Vikings were like fated enemies. Both sides were ferocious and stubborn, they engaged in wars that lasted for centuries and centuries more.

But one day, someone stood up against the currents of the wars and united the dragons and Vikings. It turned out that dragons and Vikings can live in harmony, they became partners and they both fought for the peace of Berk.

Until they faced a foe so great, he was almost impossible to defeat! Grimmel the Grisly, the dragon hunter.

Yet again a ferocious battle broke out, we were cornered. We had to depart from Berk to escape from his attacks. Our dragons were taken and we were greatly outnumbered. When almost all had seemed lost our chief, Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III, together with his mighty Nightfury, Toothless, a dragon that was the last of his kind. They defeated the great foe, Grimmel the Grisly.

That battle held a lot of emotion, fear, and anger. Throughout the crusade, Chief Hiccup has seen that the world was far too dangerous for dragons and with a last wish... Sent them to their haven.

The Hidden World-- Now named, "Hidden World of the Caldera"

A place beyond the barbaric archipelago. The ancestral home of the dragons. A place no Viking can ever find and reach with their bare hands and for the last few decades, they had lived there, in hiding. Waiting for the day when it will be safe for dragons to return to the outside world once again--"

"Yaawn!" You shout mocking a yawn as you flapped a hand over your lips.

This allowed a small fit of laughter to erupt in the class as the teacher fumed at your actions.

"(Y/N) Mercaylis Haddock!" He glared at your petite, feeble-looking form that paled against his larger 50- year old body. "Please! Let me finish my introduction." A small booklet in hand and boxes of cards strapped on his belt, the blonde ran a hand through his hair irritated with your antics.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Fishlegs! I really am!" You say with a half-hearted, guilty look exaggerating yourself with your hands over your heart. "--But you're reciting this same speech for the umpteenth time since last year!"

"It's a new year, I don't see why I can't say this now," Fishlegs mutters fiddling with his book, laughing sheepishly at the fact.

"Oh yeah-- as well the previous year, the one before last, the month earlier, and then there was a time that you repeated it twice a week for 5 days." You listed off until you can no longer count on your fingers and toes.

Now red like a fruit, Fishlegs wailed out. "Alright! Alright! I'll just cut it down to the juniors!"

Humming almost satisfied with your results you got yourself comfortable on your pillow seat in the lecture room. It was a good thing that dragon classes don't occur inside the houses and rather in a tall tower, the class does get a bit rough at times.

This tall tower, the children of New Berk collectively calls; Bird's Eye Peak, along with various other similarly structured towers were quite the predecessor of your father's old younger design. You heard from the drunken men as they told stories of Berk, the home before New Berk.

The room was like the cylindrical watchtowers that sat close to the cliff edge, with stairs leading to similar rooms or floors. The honeycomb-shaped of the tower's circumference made the Pagoda a powerful entity against the strong high winds. Standing tall like a bolder dragon, as the golden age villagers like to compare.

The floor planks were made with New Berk's woods and placed on the floor, matted with dragon designs was a wooly carpet aided with a few dragon scales patterned pillows used for sitting.

On each floor, there is a head pillar that always pointed towards the horizon of the sun rises. And finally by the entrance was a walkway with fences that keeps the younger Vikings from getting too close to the edge, although the entire school was sitting on an overlooking platform supported with large beams of wood. The cliff it stood on came to form a peak cliff, it overlooked almost all of New Berk.

"Can't take it already, (Y/N)?"

Laughed a cocky female voice that was enough to make bugs roll their eyes at. You had to resist the urge to do so yourself since it brings up the girl's ego even more than it should.

"I'm pretty sure I can listen to Mr. Fish legs intro like a lullaby."

But you did smirk when you heard her speak and gasped exaggeratedly. "Vallout Jorgenson!" The dark-haired girl jumped at the loud call of her name.

"W-What?"

"I can't believe that you just called our dragon class teacher, a bore!"

Vallout's blue eyes flew wide open, visibly flinching at you with an awestruck face. "What!? Th-That's not what I said! Don't twist my words!" She cried out just as red as the embarrassed teacher.

"But you just said that Mr. Fishlegs' lecture is just like a lullaby," you said seriously as if you were talking to a convict furthering adding Vallout's stress levels. "--and lullabies make you sleepy!"

"T-True... But!--"

"GAH-HAHA! Burn Vallout!" Cackled a male voice that was in your class with blonde hair matching the teacher's, along with his slightly plump form. The boy rolled over in fits of laughter.

Vallout grumbled at the male, "Shut it, Rockwar! Or I might just feed you to the fishes off the island!"

"As if you can carry my fat arse!" The boy smirked with his arms cross but the way he called himself angered the older male. "Rockwar, don't you dare call yourself like that! You're proud blood of the Ingerman family!" Fishlegs scold but it did not once break into the boy's thick skull for even an inch!

"Whatever, dad..." huffed Rockwar feeling annoyed with his father's constant hustle.

"Why not appreciate yourself like your twin. Right, Acidshrimp?"

Fishlegs looks over to his blonde daughter, who sat behind the crowd to your left, completely the opposite side of Rockwar's position who sat over at your right. And completely differing in body type, having a shape more similar to her mother's slender body than her father's.

"She appreciates herself cause she actually lacks fat!" Grumbled Rockwar as his blue eyes glared at Acidshrimp who blankly stared at the chattering group with a frown.

All the girl could do was shrug as if she doesn't want to even bother joining into the argument.

"Too noisy"

Was all she remarked under her breath but Rockwar, with his sharp ears, caught wind of her comment and growled.

"Oh, sis! I am so sorry that my loud mouth bothers your beautiful appearance!" Rockaway yelled at her face making the girl turn her stoic expression into a sharp viridescent glare. Immediately, she stood up and pulled back the sleeves of her upper tunic.

"Fight! Fight!" You tittered watching, with anticipation, the Ingerman twins standing off one another.

"N-Now, guys...! Let's not fight! We should just get on with the lesson before--"

"Lunch money is on Acidshrimp!" Vallout yelled shooting a snarky side glare at you. This made you want to laugh even more but held back. "Sure, but I know that Rockwar is gonna win this for sure!"

A look of jealousy crossed Acidshrimp's green eyes and she charged straight for her male twin.

In a clutter of grunts and battle cries the Ingerman twins rolled all around the room taking pillows as their swords and ferociously swiping at one another. Fishlegs constant calls weren't enough to calm the situation and all he could do was yell, unfortunately, it was usually his wife who can take on the task to stop their children from their squabble, to make matters worse she's not even present in the room.

"Alright! I yield! I won't say the intro ever again." Fishlegs yells over the yells of his fighting children who ignored him along with Vallout.

"Now please stop this fight, (Y/N)!"

A content smile formed onto your pink lips and you glided in between the twins stopping them in a matter of seconds. Catching Rockwar's punch with one hand and arm-locking Acidshrimp's to stop her from recklessly charging to her brother.

"Ladies and Gents... This is a classroom, not the arena. I know we want this to continue-- but let's not give Mr. Fishlegs a headache, alright?" Your smile glinted with a hint of seriousness which broke through the stubborn Vikings' clogged ears and into their brain.

Rockaway huffed with bitterness before he looked away signaling his agreement to postpone the brawl. Seeing this, Acidshrimp couldn't oppose you and sighed in defeat nodding politely.

"Giving up, (Y/N)?" Vallout pried, trying to take advantage of your obedience to the obese teacher. "That was fast, I must say have you gone soft?"

You were starting to get a bit annoyed with the first daughter of Jorgenson but never will you allow her to get under your skin. So you kept your grin and instead replied.

"Not as fast as you failing the battle exams, Vallout."

Snickers burst from Rockwar followed by Acidshrimp. Even Fishlegs had a little trouble holding a guffaw of his own and could only cough to mask it.

Vallout couldn't be more embarrassed than this, her face burst into hues of red along with her ears. Sputters slipped from her lips that resulted in her covering them. With eyes directed away from the group, Vallout sat a little back having nothing else to say.

"Good one, (Y/N)." Rockwar praised through his fit.

You brushed his comment off and seated yourself down to actually pay attention to Fishlegs' newest lesson when the horn sound in a bellowing toot.

Your eyes dulled at the customized announcement, completely contrasting the excitement that arose in all of the 15-year-olds' presents in the room. The meaning of the horn was much more than a simple special horn because even Vallout broke into a smile upon hearing it.

"He's here!" She gasps with admiration laced in her usual snarky voice.

"Yes! We're gonna be having a feast tonight!" Rockwar excitedly jumped to his feet at the thought, ready to devour the food of tonight's welcome home feast.

"Who's here again?"

Acidshrimp asked confused with the duo's excitement. Rockwar could only tut in mockery. "As expected of you, dear sister, " Acidshrimp glared at her twin who ignored such a look and continued.

"For it is the special chief call to announce to everyone that the great dragon chief!-- The tamer of the mysterious beast! The one and only--!"

"This is getting ridiculous-- I am heading out!"

You groaned in annoyance pausing Rockwar midway through his speech. You stood up dusting your fur skirt and head off to the zipline that was connected to a pillar.

"And where do you think you're going??" Fishlegs asked in a scolding manner that never did faze you.

"On a stroll, I am skipping classes today." You nonchalantly announced no longer caring if you'll be yelled at by Fishlegs. Quickly fixing the zipline strap around your waist you added.

"-- And Rockwar, keep talking like that and you might just sound like your dad."

Your words made the blonde boy gasp in horror, stabbing an insulted arrow into the heart of the grown man. "H-Hey! Don't make it sound like a bad thing!" Fishlegs shook his head realizing that you were making a scene to escape.

"(Y/N), please! You need to know your dragons! One day you may soon assist those very dragons!"

His words made you scoff. Your back turned as your gaze harden at the arriving ship being risen to the sky docks that overlooks the ocean by thousands of feet high by a pulley mechanism.

"If there are any left."

[Author's Message]: This is just a preview, I probably won't publish the others until I am done with 10-20 chapters in this book.

[March 15, 2021]:

Oh and I forgot to tell. Maybe some of you in the comments know about this but if the first chapter reaches 100 votes then I will rush to publish the first 5 chapters, excluding this chapter, of the story.

For now, all I did was fix a few stuff and revised some paragraphs since my vision for the story changed a bit since I first posted this chapter.
