Chapter Two : Plushies & Uno

The girls were kind enough to show Emi to her room in class 3-A's dorm, where she found that the boxes containing all her belongings were delivered already. Now, all she had to do was unpack and set up her new home. She started with the boxes of clothes and transferred them to the dresser that the school was kind enough to provide her with.

She hadn't wanted to worry about bringing her own furniture, even though they said she could. She couldn't imagine shipping a bed, a dresser, or much else from home. The only thing Emi did request to be shipped was her papasan chair. God forbid she ever have to part with the coziest piece of furniture she owned.

A knock at the door interrupted her from my work, and she ventured over to open it. Standing in the doorway was Kaminari, Kirishima, and Bakugo, with the last one looking like he'd rather be anywhere else but here. Emi propped a hand on my hip and asked, "What can I do for you boys?"

Kaminari stretched side to side. "We're here to be your muscle if you need it. Y'know, cause we're strong men, and you're-"

Kirishima slapped his head, stopping his sentence from finishing. "We were just coming by to see if you need any help, but I'm sure you're more than capable of handling it." Kirishima finished for Kaminari.

"Don't need us." Bakugo grumbled under his breath, eyes rolling.

Emi chuckled at the sight of them, each with vastly different personalities. "Well, I don't really need muscle, but I wouldn't mind the help unpacking."

And with the invitation, all three of them stepped into her room, Bakugo being dragged forcefully. They each grabbed a box, plopping them on her bed and ripping off the tape. As Emi worked on finishing her wardrobe, they began to lay things out for her. She had to admit, it made things a whole lot easier when organizing.

She bent down to a pick up a box herself, bumping into Kirishima who was going for the same one. "Let me save you the trouble, little lady." He said sarcastically, prepping himself by stretching. Emi put her hand over her mouth to contain a laugh, knowing what was in the box already. He put all his effort into lifting it only to find that it was the lightest one, leading him to fall backwards on his ass. "Oh, heh. Guess it wasn't as heavy as I thought."

"I appreciate the help, manly man. This is my lightest box which is why it was getting saved for last." Emi knelt next to him and ripped the tape off the top, causing the box to explode open. "It's all my plushies."

Suddenly, she was very embarrassed that the boys were seeing her horrible addiction. And of all things it was plushies. Her cheeks grew hot with awkwardness. If it were the girls in here, they would probably be going crazy. Emi was prepared for Kirishima to start laughing at her, until he grabbed one right off the top and stood up.

"Kaminari, look it's you!" He shouted, holding up a Pikachu plush from the collection. He had a wide grin on his face, and soon Kaminari's expression matched his when he walked over and snatched it from him.

"Holy shit, I love it!" Kaminari turned to Emi, puppy dog eyes coming on in full blast. "Emi, can I borrow it? Please please pretty please?"

She heard Bakugo groan from the other side of the room in annoyance before promptly getting up and excusing himself, saying something about them being children. Emi smiled at Kaminari and nodded. "Um, yeah, I mean as long as you don't ruin it. I guess Pikachu does match up with your quirk perfectly."

Kaminari squealed like a little girl, running out of the room and shouting, "Everyone come look! Emi has a collection of plushies and she's letting me borrow her Pikachu one!"

Emi rubbed a hand on the back of her neck, cheeks still hot from embarrassment. Great, announce it to the whole class Kaminari, she thought. She knelt again, tossing more of her plushies onto the bed and piling them up neatly once she was done. With the fairy lights Bakugo strung up, her bed made, and her clothes put away, the room was feeling cozier by the minute.

"It's a pretty good vibe you've got going in here, Emi." Kirishima told her, reaching down to squish one of the plushies. "Got any plushies I can borrow?"

There's the heat on her cheeks again.

"Uh, sure. Let me see which one I'm willing to part with." Emi looked around, finally setting on one. It was a Kirby plushy, and probably her softest one, but she had multiple. She turned to hand it to him while smiling. "Here, when we had our introductions, someone said you loved food. As you know, Kirby inhales pretty much everything. I have a few so you can just keep that one, no need to return it."

He took it from her hands, beaming. "That's so true! Ah, thank you. I'll take good care of it I promise!"

"You better! Or I will find you and kill you, got it Eijiro?" Emi poked his chest firmly to show that she meant business. The redhead threw his hands up in defense but held a smirk across his lips.

"My room is just down the hall, so you know where to find me." He leaned in closer before adding, "You're welcome any time."

Before she could get flustered from the flirtation, she punched his arm. He playfully rubbed it as if she'd actually hurt him. "Sleep with one eye open tonight." Emi threatened. Yet, she couldn't hide the smile on her face.

______________

By now, everyone in the class had heard about Emi's plushy obsession, and they all begged to borrow one each. Mina suggested all the girls have a sleepover sometime with a plushy of their own, to which the rest of the girls agreed. By the end of dinner, which thank God Momo cooked because it was delicious, she had given Jiro, Tokoyami, Shoto, Uraraka, and Momo a plush of their own to have.

At this point, everyone was lounging in the living room, sharing bits and pieces about themselves with Emi. It felt nice getting to know everyone as classmates and not just heroes in training. After talking for a little while one of the guys pulled out Uno for all of them to play.

"THAT'S A SKIP YOU IDIOT!' Bakugo shouted at Kaminari, who tried to play a card after him. They were in the midst of a heated game, almost everyone pissed off at someone else.

Unfortunately for Emi, she was seated next to Shoto, who was absolutely ruthless. For him, it was all skip, draw four, or reverse cards, leaving her no shot at winning this game. As if on cue, "Oh come on dude, another draw four? Do you have it out for me or something?" Emi groaned at him, reaching to draw more cards to add to her ever-growing stack.

Shoto shrugged while a small smile formed. "Just trying to win, don't take it personal."

On the other side, playing after her was Kirishima, who was close to being down to one card. Emi leaned over to Shoto to whisper to him, "If you don't let me play a damn card this next round, Kirishima is going to win. Do you really want that?"

As if on cue, his mismatched eyes flitted to look at their opponent, and he nodded in understanding.

The round continued around the table, and she scanned her cards to form a plan. It wouldn't be enough to win herself, but it would keep Kirishima from winning. With Shoto on her team she felt confident they could pull something off.

Once Todoroki's turn came back around, he placed a basic card for Emi to play on top of. she smiled at him before looking over at Kirishima. He had one card left. As if the redhead knew what she was up to after one look, his eyes went wide, and he started pleading with her. "Please, please Emi I'm so close."

She held up the card in the air, taunting him. "I can't let you win, Eijiro. This is just the rules of the game."

"Please, Emi. I need it. Please, I'm so close."

Was that... shivers that just ran up her spine? Kirishima noticed her hesitation and snatched the card out of her hand before standing up and making a run for it. Emi's brain had to do a hard reset before she stood up and chased after him, the rest of the class laughing at them as they ran around the room.

"Hey! Give that back! That's cheating!" Emi yelled after him, trying to catch up. Even leaping over the couches did no good. He continued to fake her out every time she got close. "Kirishima! I swear I already threatened you once today don't make me act on it!"

"You'll have to catch me Emi!" He laughed over his shoulder, and while the boys cheered him on the girls shouted Emi's name in retaliation.

Finally, after what felt like ages but probably only a couple of minutes, Uraraka came to Emi's rescue by sticking out her foot and tripping Kirishima. He faceplanted on the ground and Emi leapt, going to snatch the card but not expecting his good grip. "Give it back, ya filthy cheater." She stuck her tongue out at him and attempted to tug the card even harder.

"Make me, Kaneko." He teased.

Make me.

Emi kept a good grip on the card but started leaning closer to him, like he did earlier in her room. She was aware of the class watching the interaction and hoped his embarrassment would get him before hers caught up. "Make you, huh? What can I do to make you, Kiri?" Emi dragged out the syllables of the new nickname, a smirk spreading on her mouth when his cheeks immediately turned red.

It was enough of a distraction for his grip to loosen, making her capable of finally pulling the card free. She shouted in triumph with the girls cheering for her, returning to the table and slapping the draw four down on the pile.

"Your turn, Kiri." Emi grinned, high fiving Uraraka for the assist. Kirishima stood there, looking at her dumbfoundedly. "Don't hate the player, hate the game."

A second passed by before he snapped out of whatever trance he was in, and with a shrug he came back to the table and took four cards. However, he didn't say a word to Emi again. Did she hit a nerve? Did she push the teasing too far? Emi stole glances at him for the rest of the game, and even when Midoriya ended up winning he didn't seem interested in the game anymore.

Emi helped Momo and Uraraka clean up the game and the kitchen while mostly everyone else went off to their rooms or to the showers.

"That was amazing, Emi! You really caused Kirishima to get flustered, normally his demeanor is as hard as a rock!" Momo chuckled with her hands in the sink washing dishes. Emi continued to wipe down the counters as Uraraka put away any leftovers.

"Ah, it was nothing. I have Uraraka to thank, she's the one that tripped him so I could catch up." She nudged Uraraka with her elbow, and she nudged Emi back. "We make a good team, and I'm sure all of us girls will have to stick together against the boys from time to time."

"Oh yeah, you should've seen when Jiro beat Sero at Mario Kart! They guys almost blew a gasket and demanded a rematch, but she won every time."

Emi smiled at both of them as she finished drying the counters. "Well, no matter the situation, I'm glad to have the girls on my side. But after that rousing game of Uno, and with unpacking, I'm officially exhausted and going to bed. Thanks for dinner, Momo!"

She bid both the girls goodnight before heading upstairs to her room. A part of her couldn't get what happened off her mind. What did she do to cause Kirishima to shut down? She figured she should apologize for whatever it was, as she didn't want any bad blood to start so soon.

Once Emi got up the stairs, she turned to go knock on his door but saw him and Kaminari whispering fiercely to each other. Well, she'll apologize tomorrow. She stepped into her room and shut the door.

Tomorrow would be her first full day with the class, and they hadn't even started school again yet. If each day could be like today, Emi knew she'd be feeling this tired every night.
