Chapter One : Introductions

Four Months Prior

The gymnasium was in shambles. The ceiling, floor, and shards of concrete were scattered everywhere. Smoke and dust were slowly settling, covering the scene in a haze.

On one side, a male student clutched his broken arm while his sweat mixed with blood dripping from his nose.

On the other side... stood a solid form of mercury in the shape of a girl. She showed no signs of injuries, with the only blood dripping from her knuckles. Not hers; his. She had broken his arm. She had made him bleed. She had made the building crumble.

Present Day

Shota Aizawa swore under his breath, checking the time as he waited for class 3-A to show. Of course, they were almost never on time. Ida was the one who made sure everyone made it, but even he couldn't drag them out of bed.

He supposed he should have told them the news yesterday, guaranteeing their excitement would get them here in a timely manner.

Finally, less than five minutes after their scheduled time, the entirety of 3-A rounded the corner. For all they knew, it was time for quirk training.

"Man, we're in our third year, do we really still need to wake up this early for quirk training?"  Sero groaned, rubbing his eyes.

"Glad to see you all could get out of bed. Any later and I could fail you." Aizawa threatened while crossing his arms. They all knew it was an empty threat, but the look on his face told everyone he really wasn't happy. "Now, if you'll allow me to tell you why you're here this early. Today, we are-"

A loud crash sounded from inside the gym cutting him off from his announcement. Eyebrows raised in confusion, whispers began, and for once, class 3-A were stunned.

"Uh, what was that?" Uraraka asked as she leaned forward to try and peer around their teacher. The man in question could only rub his eyes in annoyance before stepping to the side.

"Might as well see for yourself."

Ida was the first one to open the doors, allowing everyone to follow him inside. Once they finally could see what was going on no one could say anything.

Multiple pillars were erected around the gym, each one a different natural material. Concrete, diamond, clay, and more. Dust swirled in the air and moved with each new loud bang. All at once, the main pillar in the center of the room began to crack. Each student stood witness to it crumble into a pile of rubble.

As the dust settled, they could finally make out a figure in the middle of the chaos walking their way.

She was half crystal, half stone, red hair still swaying in a ponytail. Class 3-A stood with bated breaths as she approached and stopped in front of them. The hard exterior of the girl started to crack and fall off, leaving normal skin underneath. She smiled widely before extending her hand.

"Hi! I'm Emi!"

_______________

Part of her was grateful for her grand introduction to her new classmates, but their shocked faces made Emi regret it as well. Did they find her intimidating? Did she weird them out? What were they all thinking while just staring at her?

"Hi! I'm Emi!" She said, putting on her best smile and going for a handshake. No one moved a muscle and only looked further confused. "Okay, so if no one's going to shake my hand I'm going to be mildly offended considering you all are staring at me like I'm a fucking alien. What gives?"

Like a band had snapped, the first person to reach out their hand was a tall, dark-haired boy with glasses. He gave her a firm handshake before introducing himself. "My name is Tenya Ida!"

"Ida, as class representative if you would like to make introductions for everyone?" Aizawa suggested, staring at the other students with something Emi couldn't read. Annoyance? Humor? A mixture of both?

"Yes!" Tenya Ida saluted, almost making her laugh out loud, before gesturing to the rest of the class. He went around the group announcing all their names; Mina Ashido, Tsuyu Asui, Ochaco Uraraka, Mashirao Ojiro, Denki Kaminari, Eijiro Kirishima, Koji Koda, Rikido Sato, Mezo Shoji, Kyoka Jiro, Hanta Sero, Fumikage Tokoyami, Shoto Todoroki, Toru Hagakure, Momo Yaoyorozu, Katsuki Bakugo, and finally Izuku Midoriya.

Emi smiled at all of them but turned to face Midoriya first. "I've heard your name before. My old mentor talked about you quite a bit. Something about how her old mentor became your mentor and blah blah blah."

His eyes lit up with excitement like a kid in a candy store. "Was your mentor Stars and Stripes?" he questioned, a grin spreading on his face. "My mentor, All Might mentored her! That must be the connection. What was it like being her student? How long did she teach you? Did you learn any special moves?"

Woah. This guy had a motor mouth, in the sweetest way possible. It seemed like his excitement couldn't help but bubble over and explode like a volcano. "Uh..." She tried to think of a response to every question, but luckily Aizawa stepped up next to her to take over.

"For those of you who are still confused, let me explain. This is Emi Kaneko. She transferred here from another hero school in America, and with the beginning of the last semester of your third year approaching I wanted to integrate her sooner rather than later. She'll be joining all of you in Class 3-A, and in the dorms. I've already arranged for her to take over one of the empty rooms, so none of you have to worry about making any switches."

Aizawa cleared his throat, speaking up again. "I would like all of you to make Emi as comfortable as possible. She's a long way from home and I wouldn't want her feeling left out." As he finished speaking, she watched him start to step into a... sleeping bag? "Now, ask your questions but don't be a bother. Wake me up when introductions are over."

With that, her teacher left her to the wolves. Everyone still stared at her, all except a black-haired girl who stepped forward. "Hi, once again I'm Momo Yaoyorozu, but you can call me Momo. I think I speak for all the girls when I say we're so happy to add another woman to our numbers!"

The rest of the girls came up with her, all smiling and voicing their agreement. "So, just so I'm getting this right; Mina, Ochaco, Kyoka, Momo, Toru, and Tsuyu correct?"

"You pick up fast! Before the guys come over here..." Uraraka glanced behind them to show the boys in a huddle, whispering among themselves, "we have some warnings to share, woman to woman."

"First, Kaminari is the biggest flirt. Luckily, he's mostly harmless and will back off if you're firm."

"Second, Bakugo acts like an asshole, but none of it's personal. And don't believe him if he says it is because he's grown into a little bit of a softy the past couple years."

"I HEARD THAT YA MORON!" a shout from the boys' group, assumingly Bakugo, made Emi laugh.

"Third, Midoriya and Ochaco are thing, so stay away from that with a ten foot pole." Ochaco elbowed Mina in her side, glaring at her. "Okay, so not a confirmed thing but crushing." Another elbow to the ribs.

Emi started to laugh, watching the interaction unfold. She could tell already that she was going to like these girls, and that they were going to be a lot nicer than her old classmates. "I've made a mental list of these warnings and I'll take them into account."

Finally, the boys group started to make their way over, seemingly choosing "representatives" to front them. Shoto Todoroki and Midoriya stood in front of the guys first. It was like the suspense was killing the latter as he looked like he was about the explode with questions.

"How many questions are you willing to answer, Emi Kaneko?" Shoto spoke first and his neutral tone threw Emi off. Based on looks only, he looked like your typical confident hot guy. His demeanor, however, didn't match up at all. Stoic, strong, slightly intimidating.

"I'll answer five questions. Counting the one you just asked me." Emi smirked at the group in front of her, causing the girls to snicker. Oh yeah, she was going to like them. "Hit me."

Midoriya was the first to speak up. Well, more like shouting. "What's your quirk?"

"Elemental mimicry. I can turn my skin into whatever material I touch, but it has to be a natural material. So no, I can't just turn my entire body into a pair of jeans."

"Where are you from?"

"My mother was born here; my father is American. Initially, I was raised just down the road from here, but my dad's job took us to America eventually."

"Why did you transfer from your last school?"

"That's a story for another time, let's just say it wasn't a happy exit."

"Are you single?" Kaminari shouted from the back of the group, causing Bakugo to turn towards him.

"YOU IDIOT. YOU WASTED THE LAST QUESTION."  The blonde yelled at him, hitting him upside the head.

Emi turned towards the girls and rolled her eyes. Their warning was correct. Watch out for Kaminari. "I'll let that answer come in time. After all, I just met you all, wouldn't want anyone trying to sweep me off my feet just yet." She grinned and swore it looked like Kaminari short circuited.

This was definitely going to be an interesting third year.
