I just want to make something clear before you continue. I personally struggle from anxiety. What I write are things that have happened to me personally. Also remember that everyone's experiences and symptoms vary, so your experiences may be different than mine--that doesn't make either of our differences wrong, so please don't point out "this isn't how anxiety works," Because for me it is. I've also been professionally diagnosed, and I have most symptoms at varying times and rates. Thanks for understanding.
Keith was surprised. He was also full of joy and relief. Shiro walked closer so that they're face to face only a few inches apart. Keith's heart was pounding. He felt anxious, but he wouldn't move even if Zarkon was standing behind him with a canon ready to blow.
"Keith, I wasn't going to say anything because I feared it'd distract us on our missions if you said no," Shiro explained. "But since you've already said how you feel, I'll share how I feel. I love you."
Keith felt like he couldn't breathe. Some worry washed over him, but mainly joy. He smiled weakly. No one has loved me before. He felt a wave of irrational thoughts wash over, of things so yet to come. He felt dizzy.
No, not now, Keith thought. His knees buckled, but Shiro caught him. Keith cringed, noticing that Shiro could smell his sweat being so close now.
"I..." Keith started, but couldn't finish.
"You should've said something if I was making you anxious," Shiro started. "Can you walk?"
Keith nodded, "I'm fine, it's fine." He was still shaking.
"Medbay, let's go." Shiro demanded, but Keith shook his head and pushed Shiro away.
"I'm fine!" he shouted. "I just need to cool off."
Nice going, Keith, Keith told himself. This is why no one loves you. Keith shook his head angrily, staring off into the distance. Shiro respected Keith's personal space, but will definitely go to him later.
Meanwhile, Lance heard Keith shout "I'm fine!" at Shiro. He admits, he felt a little worried, but Keith was probably just throwing another tantrum. When Shiro walked back in alone, he figured Keith just blew off the exercises.
"Keith's taking a break," Shiro said, looking a bit flustered.
"What happened between you two?" Lance asked.
Shiro smiled to himself, "We'll tell you at a later date. But for right now, let's go back to the exercises."
