Honestly, I think it happened too quickly. It was like Rick suddenly remembered Calypso and was like: 'OH WE'LL SEND LEO THERE HE'S SINGLE!'

I think a better story would've been that Leo was sent to the island and they became really good friends. Like best friends.

Leo still would've rescued her though, and they could still have their repair shop. Just as friends.

Then they could've found their own relationships/ remained happily single.
