Chapter 11 - Aftermath
Hurricanepaw POV
Hurricanepaw was asked by Jaypaw to meet her, just outside the Cavernclan camp to discuss something important.
She was hesitant at first, considering what they just done mere hours ago but she trusted Jaypaw... Yeah, trusted her.
Jaypaw was sat by a cliff side and Hurricanepaw froze... Maybe she should just turn back. It was too familiar for her liking.
"You know... I was lying." Jaypaw sighed.
"About w-"
"Knowing you, of course I recognized you but... I'm not your Jaypaw." She turned around.
Hurricanepaw sat down, curling her tail around herself,"I know, I just-"
"We may look it but... We're not the same. I'm not a killer."
"I know you aren't-"
"You're scared of me." Jaypaw hissed.
"Jaypaw, I'm not scared of you-"
"Then why did you freeze, huh?" Jaypaw snapped,"You remember what happened here!"
"Of course I do!"
"Just- What do you want from me?" Jaypaw looked at Hurricanepaw.
"A fresh start, that's why I wanted my name changed. I wanted us to start fresh, as friends." Hurricanepaw slowly approached her.
Jaypaw was quiet as Hurricanepaw got closer and... Suddenly her paws weren't touching the ground. She was in the air... Falling... Why was she falling?
Jaypaw POV
Jaypaw looked down the cliff face as Hurricanepaw fell, blinking slowly.
"That wasn't Stevie." Jaypaw thought to herself,"It was an imposter, she was trying to trick me!"
The real Stevie would've been more skeptical of me after last time, she wouldn't trust me like that. Heh, what a mouse brain.
Pineflower POV
Pineflower had been monitoring the young Warrior in her den.
Flypounce... Her eyes were injured beyond repair, not even Pineflower could attempt to restore her sight...
Pineflower sighed as Duskstar padded inside.
"What is her condition?" Duskstar questioned,"It's not I care I'm just, uh, curious."
"I was unable to save Flypounce's eyes." Pineflower sighed.
"You did your best, I suppose" Duskstar assured him.
That's when Flypounce stirred, pawing at the cobwebs over her eyes.
"Oh, please don't touch those." Pineflower pressed her nose against Flypounce's forehead,"The scars need to heal."
"I don't like it.." Flypounce mumbled.
"Well, deal with it." Duskstar scoffed.
"Duskstar." Pineflower sighed.
"I mean, you... You will be fine, trust me. Pineflower is a, uh, great Medicine Cat." Duskstar fumbled with his words.
"I bet she feels assured, now please remove yourself." Pineflower sighed.
"At least speak to me with a bit more respect." Duskstar shook his head as he left.
Pineflower sighed, padding over to her store and digging around to make sure she has enough poppy seeds to last.
Mapleheart POV
"I'm gonna be a strong Warrior like you, Mapleheart!" Mousekit mewed,"And Goosekit will heal me."
"If Goosekit decides to be a Medicine Cat, he'll have more cats to heal than just you." Mapleheart sighed,"Besides, what if he doesn't want to be a Medicine Cat?"
"Huh, I didn't think about that." Mousekit blinked.
"I'm going to be a better Warrior than you." Goosekit scoffed.
Mousekit gasped,"You will not!"
"And why's that?" Goosekit asked.
"Because I'm a better Warrior, we've gone over this." Mousekit huffed.
"You may be stronger, but you're a dumbass." Goosekit rolled his eyes.
"Am not!" Mousekit stamped her foot.
"Right, right, you both will become apprentices in a few moons anyway and you'll be able to see who's the best." Mapleheart sighed.
"It'll be me." Mousekit stated.
Marshriver POV
Marshriver had his paws close to his face, refusing to sleep. He had tried once or twice and all he could see was what happened to...
"Marshy!"
Marshriver's head jerked up, his eyes darting around the room. Nothing. Great, now he was hearing things.
"Yo, Marshriver."
Marshriver blinked his eyes. Fernstrike.
"You look exhausted, buddy." Fernstrike sighed,"Maybe you should get some rest-"
"I can't!" Marshriver hissed.
Fernstrike padded to his side,"You've been through quite a lot in the past few hours, Marshriver. You need sleep."
Marshriver shook his head before resting it on his front paws.
"Look, if anything happens, I'll be here watching." Fernstrike assured him,"Maybe I can sneak Mapleheart in and-"
"Fine, I'll sleep!" Marshriver batted at her but she ducked.
"Nice one." Fernstrike nodded before laying in the nest beside him.
Marshriver blinked slowly as he drifted off... Awakening back in Owlclan. No... Not again.
"Marshy, calm down!" Willowbrook pressed her nose against his,"I'm here to save you."
"It's dangerous, you have to leave! They'll kill you!" Marshriver hissed.
"I don't care!" Willowbrook shook her head,"You're my brother! You'll be better than I ever could be!"
"That's not true. You're great at remembering the herbs and their uses." Marshriver reminded her,"Plus, you and Eagleswift have healed quite a number of cats, surely."
Marshriver closed his eyes, waiting for an answer... It never came. He knew she was dead and... He didn't want to see again.
"Open your eyes, kit." He heard Dragonflypelt hiss.
"No! No, you killed her! I don't want to see! Please don't make me see it again!" Marshriver pleaded.
"Oh, you'll see it again... And again... And again... You'll never be able to move on or forget with us around." Dragonflypelt smirked.
