"Hey, did you hear?"

"What?"

"Another body was found yesterday – a senior's!"

"What? That's so scary!"

Felix gulped, walking past the two chattering girls with a hurried pace. It wasn't the first time the body of a student had been found somewhere near the campus, but what was really starting to scare him was the seemingly nonexistent link between all of them.

Felix knew that.

That girl from his chemistry class had been his project partner. She had apparently been planning to confess, or so one of her friends had tearfully admitted to Felix a few days later, saying her friend would have wanted him to know. And yet, for a reason unknown to everyone, she had apparently jumped from a bridge of her own accord.

The junior Felix had helped find his way on his first day. He had been flirting with him, Felix wasn't oblivious enough not to see it and, finding him cute, Felix had agreed to go out for some coffee with him sometime during the weekend – needless to say, that boy never made it to their little date. He had been run over by a car on his way there and had died on the spot, truly an unfortunate accident.

And now that senior. The guy had asked Felix out a few weeks back, and Felix had declined, not interested. However, the senior hadn't taken the rejection well, and had started harassing him whenever he was on campus, going as far as following him to his dorm or trying to corner him in the bathroom.

Felix had complained to his friends, of course, asking for their advice regarding the matter, and they had been quick to encourage him to denounce the situation to the school's administration, promising they'd support his claims and help keep the annoying senior at bay until then.

But that wouldn't be necessary anymore – because the senior's body had been found the night before, drowned in a small pond in the park barely fifteen minutes away from the school's campus.

Once was an accident. Twice was a weird coincidence. But three times, now?

Felix didn't want to make it all about himself but, well, he had always been told that he had rather sharp instincts – and how could all of those be coincidences? Every single person who outwardly showed an actual interest in him was found dead barely a few days later. That couldn't be normal, right?

He decided to bring up the matter to his friends later. Maybe that way, they'd be able to make him see reason.

.

Unbeknownst to Felix, he wasn't the only one thinking those deaths were potentially related.

So far, the police hadn't managed to come up with a single link between any of the victims, thus unable to label their deaths as murders because of the complete lack of pattern and the seemingly "natural" deaths. Hell, the guy who had run the poor kid over was currently in jail, so there was no way he could have killed that senior.

But there was one pattern – that pattern being one Lee Felix.

Detective Lee Minho clicked his tongue in annoyance as he gazed at the open file on his desk. Lee Felix – originally from Australia, moved to South Korea two years prior to pursue a dance major – had a spotless record, and appeared to be quite normal, if not overly cute.

He knew the first girl who died had been planning on confessing to Lee Felix two days before her body was found. Why would someone planning to confess suddenly commit suicide? They never found a confession letter, though, even if her friend had adamantly insisted one existed.

He knew the second victim had actually managed to score himself a date with the Australian boy. How unfortunate had he been, to accidentally stumble off the sidewalk and smack into the trajectory of a speeding car? What was weird about it was how he had seemingly died on the spot, though – shock had been the first theory given, but Minho wasn't convinced, and was still waiting for some test results.

And finally, the third body belonged to a senior who, according to the student body's rumor mill, had it coming – he had been harassing some underclassmen for a while now, and there was talk that he had even tried to rape him once (him being, of course, Lee Felix). He was found head-first into a pond. The guy seemingly slipped and hit his head on a rock hard enough to collapse straight into the water and then failed to wake up before he drowned completely. But what had he been doing there in the first place?

There was absolutely nothing that correlated between the three dead students, saved for the fact that they all went to the same school, and that they all had romantic-based contact with Lee Felix.

Even if it wasn't going to lead anywhere, Minho needed to exhaust all leads – meaning he was going to have a talk with that boy, and clear up his doubts once and for all.

.

"Hey, Lixie!"

"Hyunjin..."

"You okay?" frowned the taller boy as he reached him. "What's got you down?"

"Ah, well... I'm sure you've heard by now, but another body was found..."

"Oh, yeah, the senior who was causing you trouble, right?" easily recalled Hyunjin, before offering the boy a grin. "Maa, don't sweat it, he had it coming anyway."

Felix gasped. "Hyunjin! How could you say that? Someone is dead!"

"Well, yeah, but it's basically just his bad karma that came back to bite him in the ass, don't you think? He was an asshole – he even tried to assault you once! He would have seriously hurt you had I not shown up when I did, so why are you defending that jerk?"

Felix's rightful anger deflated a bit at that. "That's... well. I- I know that he wasn't exactly a nice person... but does that truly warrant his death...?"

"Anyone who hurts you deserves to burn in hell, Lixie."

There was a moment of startled silence as Felix looked up to Hyunjin, his mouth slightly agape. He was waiting for the older boy to break out into an awkward laugh and wave off his comment as a joke, but he didn't – he stared at Felix with an intensity that had never been there before, a seriousness that was truly out of character for Hyunjin.

Those eyes... were cold. Hard, and unforgiving – somehow, Hyunjin truly believed what he just told Felix, and that made the freckled boy really uneasy.

"H- Hyunjin—"

'DING'

"Lee Felix is requested to the Headmaster's office. Lee Felix is requested to the Headmaster's office."

The unexpected announcement made the freckled boy jump a bit and, instantly, the strange tension in the air broke. Hyunjin laughed, patting his shoulder and slightly nudging him forward.

"Well, off you go! Hope you didn't cause too much trouble, Mr. Model Student!"

"I- I didn't!"

It was easy to fall back into the usual banter with his best friend but, as Felix quickly walked away in direction of the Headmaster's office, he still couldn't shake off the sliver of dread that had coiled around his guts following Hyunjin's earlier statement.

Walking fast, he made it to his destination in record time. The receptionist gestured for him to directly enter the office and, after a moment of hesitation, he did as told. The moment he stepped inside, his eyes landed on two men – one was the Headmaster, sitting at his desk, and the other currently had his back turned to him, seemingly thumbing through a thick file.

"Ah, Felix! Thank you for coming here so fast, I know you have quite the busy schedule – and don't worry, I'll make sure you don't get in trouble with your teachers for your impromptu absence," assured the Headmaster, ever so friendly.

"Thank you, sir. Erm, why did you want to see me...?"

"Right, of course. Felix, this is Detective Lee. He's here to investigate the unfortunate deaths of the students that have occurred in the past few months."

Felix's breath was momentarily taken away as the unknown man finally turned around – he looked like a model, with sharp features and feline-like eyes. Felix's sudden gay panic was, however, quickly forgotten when he realized why, exactly, he had been called here.

"You... want to question me, then...?"

"I won't take up too much of your time," assured the Detective, his voice smooth and slightly alluring. "Sir, if you wouldn't mind...?"

"Of course. I'll be in the other room if you need anything else."

With a supportive pat on Felix's shoulder, the Headmaster then left, mindful to close the door behind him. The moment he was gone, the detective gestured for Felix to take the empty chair next to him and, with a certain stiffness, the boy did as told.

He only then realized that the file the Detective had in hand was his.

"... are you going to interrogate every single student in school, then?" he asked, already knowing the answer.

"No." The man abruptly closed his file, leaning back in his chair to stare at him – and it felt like he was looking directly at his soul. "Just you. Do you know why?"

"I'm... not really sure, no."

"Then I'll enlighten you. All three students found dead in the last few months died under various circumstances, and had absolutely no link together whatsoever, saved for going to this very school. They were all in different classes and different grades, didn't even share a dorm or even a neighborhood, and didn't have a single friend in common." His eyes narrowed slightly, and Felix felt his throat dry up. "The only thing they had in common is you, Lee Felix. One was planning to confess, the other was taking you out on a date, and the third one allegedly attempted to rape you—"

"He didn't," quickly cut in the boy, gulping. "I- I mean, there was an incident, but one of my friends stepped in before anything could actually happened."

"Why didn't you report?"

"I was planning to – this week, in fact. But, as you can probably guess why, I never had the... opportunity."

"What of the other two, then?"

"I- I don't really know what you expect me to say..."

"What do you think of them?"

Felix frowned. "Well, for the first victim... I was only made aware of her feelings for me through one of her friends, many days after her... body was found. As for the junior who asked me out, I learned of the accident later in the evening, at first believing he stood me up for our date, only to discover he simply... well, never had the chance to make it."

It was weird – the entire situation was weird. This very morning, Felix was questioning this pattern of coincidences and believing he was simply going crazy and seeing things that weren't there. But now, this random detective was showing up with a seemingly similar theory, and...

Well, Felix didn't really know what to make of it, but he did know that he had just found a potential ally.

The man's eyes narrowed even more. "You know something."

"I don't!" quickly assured Felix, panicking for a moment. "It's not—I don't! I- I mean, not really...? It's just, when I heard about that senior this morning, I couldn't help but think how weird of a coincidence all of this was... I've been- I've been thinking about it all day, actually – that pattern. I thought I was just insane for imagining it, but now you're here telling me the same thing I've been trying to ignore all day, and—"

"Okay, okay, okay, slow down a bit," sighed the detective, relaxing a bit. "Before you go into a frenzy, I don't think you had anything to do with those – or at least, not directly. No offense, but you don't look like you could quash a fly, let alone kill three people."

Felix couldn't help but feel a little offended at that. "I'm a black-belt in taekwondo."

"Taekwondo is an art of defense – you probably learned it to protect yourself from bullies or something like that."

"... you're pretty good at that detective shtick."

The man's lips quirked up at that. "I'm aware, yes. In any case, I don't think you're the perpetrator. You're involved somehow, I'm sure of it, but the how and why... Tell me honestly: have you had any interaction that stood out as strange or even a little worrying, lately? Something that might fit a potential stalker, for example."

"Are you saying someone is going on a killing spree because they're obsessed with me and don't want anyone else to be interested in me?" Felix couldn't help but snort at the ridiculous notion. "I'm sorry, but what is this? Some bad K-drama?"

"Three students have died, Felix – I'm not in the mood for jokes nor do I have the time to deal with them. I need you to take this seriously and answer my question."

Properly chastised, Felix quickly fell serious again. He sunk in his chair, carefully thinking over any interaction that might have stood out to him in the past few days. He didn't have many social interactions outside of his close circle of friends, though, and they—

"Anyone who hurts you deserves to burn in hell, Lixie."

Felix's breath stuttered ever so slightly as Hyunjin's earlier words popped back into his mind. The moment the thought passed his mind, though, he quickly shook it off. What was he even thinking? Hyunjin was his best friend! How could he possibly think for one second that the sweet and dramatic boy could actually hurt someone, let alone kill three people?

"No," finally said Felix, a slight tremble to his voice. "Nothing comes to mind. Sorry."

The detective stared at him for a while longer, obviously gauging his honesty, before sighing and pulling out a card from his pocket, handing it over as he rose to his feet.

"Alright. In any case, it would seem we're both of the same mind regarding this matter. So, if anything comes up, make sure to give me a call. I'll keep you updated on my end if I come across anything pertinent."

"R- right, of course. Thank you, Detective Lee."

With a sharp nod, the man then left the office, and Felix's shoulders slumped as he stared at the black numbers inked into the card. He was a little shaken by the unexpected interrogation, and he swore to himself that he would keep a careful eye out for any suspicious figure that might be following him around.

As he left the office, he tried his best to ignore the seed of doubt that had been planted in his heart regarding Hyunjin's potential involvement in the entire story.

.

It took the detective two weeks to contact Felix again – or at least, directly. While convinced the freckled boy hadn't actually killed any of them, he still wanted to clear up any possible doubt and had taken to following him around.

It was not stalking – it was his job.

So he followed Lee Felix around. Kept an eye on him around school hours, dug up any information he could find on all of his social medias, and even camped out of his dorm a few times to ensure he wasn't going out at times he shouldn't.

It didn't take him long to recognize that Felix couldn't possibly be a killer. He was too sweet, too soft. At that point, Minho was fairly convinced the boy was sunshine personified – he didn't have the aura nor the potential of a murderer.

All of that was confirmed when a fourth body turned up. Felix had a solid alibi, what with Minho constantly following him around, but the fourth victim...

"It's Jaemin-hyung, isn't it?"

For Felix to know who the victim was before Minho could say anything (and the name hadn't been released to the public yet) could only mean one thing.

"What did he do?" he simply asked.

"Confessed to me in the middle of dance class."

That did it, then – it was the fourth student to die, and the fourth student to have a romantic involvement with Lee Felix. Whoever was targeting these people obviously didn't want anyone approaching the boy.

So, of course, Minho came up with the perfect plan to trap the culprit.

"Come meet me at the coffee shop on the corner in ten minutes," he simply instructed.

.

"You want to what?"

"Let's pretend to be in a relationship."

Felix stared at him with wide eyes. "You're insane."

"It's the perfect plan!" insisted Minho, not understanding the issue. "If you really have a psychotic stalker who goes after anyone who shows an interest in you, then the best way to draw them out is to lay a perfect bait."

"You're going to get hurt!" snapped Felix and oh, that's why he's so against it.

The thought of Felix being worried for his wellbeing was sweet – Minho tried not to linger too much on it.

"You're the one with a crazy admirer," he deadpanned, leaning back in his seat. "Look, it's not that complicated: you go back to your daily life, tell anyone who asks that you have a boyfriend, and we'll both act the part in public. I have defense training and a legal weapon – I won't go down so easily. It's our best bet at catching that freak. So? You in?"

Felix hesitated one last time, before sighing heavily. Then, a small smile graced his lips as a disbelieving laugh escaped him.

"Alright, fine. Woo me then, Detective."
