To say Jisung was upset would be an understatement – he was thoroughly pissed.

Being the only child of the most powerful mafia boss in the country, he'd always gotten away with a lot of things. Some would call him spoiled, but Jisung knew what he was worth and wasn't afraid to use it to get what he wanted.

Unfortunately, it would seem it was finally time for Jisung's free spirit to get tied down.

"—and of course, through this alliance, we will ensure the protection of your name, your affiliates, and your businesses. As per agreed, sixty percent of your capital will be given to us and, in return, we will grant you foothold in Korea, Japan, and America. Any further benefits can be discussed and added to the contract—"

Jisung tuned out the boring rambling, letting his eyes wander over to the other boy occupying the seat next to his – Felix was his name, if he remembered correctly. His back was straight and stiff as if a pole had been shoved up his ass, his pretty face was set in an expressionless mask, and he hadn't spared a single glance for Jisung ever since he stepped foot inside the room.

Seeing him up close irked Jisung even further.

Acting like such a perfect little doll... I bet he's nothing more than a pampered jerk who had everything served to him on a silver platter, he thought bitterly.

Because even though Jisung had never been in need of anything, there was no denying that life as the child of a mafia boss wasn't exactly easy. He'd started learning to fight and defend himself at a very young age, had started getting involved in weapon dealing when he was barely thirteen, and he'd killed for the first time not even a year later.

He wasn't about to complain, many had it worse than him, but it was still a rough upbringing, and knowing he was losing what little freedom he had left to someone as sheltered and privileged as the prissy boy next to him annoyed him to no end.

Felix's father was one of the richest CEOs in the world. He had offices in Australia, China, and he was starting to open his market in Europe too, but he couldn't go even further without angering some very powerful people, hence why he'd sought a partnership with Jisung's father.

Coming to an agreement that would benefit both groups hadn't been easy, but they'd eventually figured out a way to properly seal the deal: by having their two sons marry. It was really old-fashioned, an underhanded way of having access to all sorts of insurances and thus opening the door for a bunch of illegally earned, easy money.

Jisung had vehemently been against it – he'd argued against his father for days, if not weeks, until his father threatened to disown him if he didn't do as told. With how many enemies Jisung had already made, he couldn't afford to lose his father's name and protection and, as such, he finally gave in.

But that didn't mean he had to like it – or like Felix, for that matter.

"—and, to finish, we will simply need a signature from the two parties involved," concluded the bribed notary. "If Han Jisung and Lee Felix would please come forward to sign the papers...?"

Felix rose to his feet, stiff, and walked right up to the desk where said papers were waiting. Jisung scoffed but, under his father's warning glare, he also got up and joined the other at the desk. Felix was already almost done signing everything, and Jisung refrained the urge to scoff at his eagerness.

Taking the pen once Felix was done, he also made quick work of signing the papers. As soon as he was done, the papers were picked up by the notary, who offered the pair the brightest fake smile Jisung had ever seen – or maybe it was real, he did just get a lot of money from both parties involved to officiate the deal/wedding.

"This concludes our affairs today. Congratulations on your union, Han Jisung, Lee Felix."

In the back, their fathers shook hands, both extremely pleased by their deal. Then, Felix and his father left the office, and Jisung heaved out a frustrated sigh.

This just really happened... Fuck, the guys are going to have a field day with this.

He didn't say anything to his father as they also left the building, and his father didn't say anything, either. They got into their car, and Jisung frowned when the driver didn't start the engine right away.

"Why aren't we—"

He stopped talking as he saw Felix and his father stepping outside. Felix's father patted his shoulder, then walked away and, after a moment, Felix started walking in the opposite direction – toward their car. He had a suitcase with him, too—

"Oh, hell no," snapped Jisung as he opened the door. "Why is he coming back with us?"

"You're married, Jisung. It's only natural for you two to live together," replied simply his father, unbothered. "The contract stipulates that we take good care of him, and so he will live with you from now on. I expect you to be on your best behavior."

"Damn it..."

He openly glared as Felix took the seat next to him. The other spared him a glance, then quickly averted his eyes, apparently too high and mighty to even spare a few words for his new husband.

What an arrogant twat!

This was not a good day for Jisung.

.

"Alright, let's make things clear and simple: I don't like you, I don't want you here, and I won't hesitate to smother you in your sleep if you snore," snapped Jisung the moment the door of the penthouse closed behind them. "You can take the guest room at the end of the hallway, there's a bathroom attached to it. Do whatever you want, just don't get on my nerves. And if I ever find you in my room, I'll beat you up. Got it?"

Felix stared at him with a mix of emotions Jisung wasn't in the right mind to pick apart, and the other's silence was already getting on his nerve. He stalked up to the boy and practically slammed him into the wall, glaring.

"I said: got it?"

"Yes. I get it," snapped back Felix.

Jisung's eyes widened slightly as he heard Felix's voice for the first time – that shit was deep, how could such a cute face speak like that? But he quickly shook it off, releasing his new partner to stomp over to his room and slam the door as loudly as he could. It was petty but, hopefully, it got the message across.

.

As it turned out, the married life didn't change much for Jisung. Saved for the fact that he now had a roommate who also happened to be his legal husband, he still went on with his days as he usually did.

To be fair, Felix wasn't entirely a bother. He either stayed in his room or went out during the day to do God knows what – probably spend his time and his money at the mall buying useless stuff like any other pampered brat. However, when he did happen to cross paths with Jisung, things were... electric.

Not in a good way, either.

"God damn it, can't you just stay out of my way?"

"You're the one who rammed into me!"

Jisung would be lying if he said he hadn't been brought out of his room by the nice smell of homemade food coming from the kitchen – but he didn't think Felix, of all people, knew how to cook! And yeah, maybe he was now acting like a jerk to try and make Felix leave so he could enjoy the food without actually admitting to liking it.

Maybe.

"Fuck, you're so annoying," huffed Jisung, walking around him to fetch himself a glass of water. "To think I got stuck with someone like you..."

Felix didn't answer. As always, he was too mighty to bother answering Jisung. Scoffing under his breath, the dark-haired boy took his leave without another word – though he did not-so-subtly steal a plate of food on the way out.

.

It had now been two months since Jisung got married, and he wasn't any closer to getting along with Felix. The other boy either avoided him, or simply ignored him when he talked to him and, while Jisung appreciated not having to actually deal with him too often, the fact that Felix still acted so haughtily annoyed him.

However, as much as he loathed Felix – or at least, he liked to think he did – all those feelings went out the window when he returned home that evening.

"H- help...!"

It was a lucky shot – literally. He'd been sent to handle a deal on his father's behalf, a minor gang had decided on that very moment to ambush their clients, and he'd gotten caught in the crossfire. He'd been shot right in the side and, too far to get back to one of the mafia's hideouts, he'd settled for coming home, instead.

(He'd hoped Felix would at least call his father for him, since he'd lost his phone while running away.)

"Holy shit! Jisung!"

The weird mix of English and Korean, along with the deep voice in which the words were pronounced, easily gave away Felix's presence. Jisung didn't have the strength to say anything, simply collapsing on the floor. There were some more curses in the background, and then he was firmly pushed onto his back, his eyes taking a moment to focus on Felix now looming over him.

"I've got you." His voice sounded like it was coming from underwater or something. "You're gonna be okay, Jisung, just hold on—!"

He didn't hear more of it, his eyes fluttering shut. As the darkness claimed him, though, he couldn't help but notice how sweet his name sounded when Felix said it.

.

Jisung was alive.

Jisung didn't understand why.

Well, of course, he understood the technicalities – Felix was apparently some sort of prodigious medical student who'd managed to patch him up and save his life. What he didn't understand, however, was why Felix would bother saving him when he'd been nothing more than an asshole to him from day one.

Had it been anyone else from Jisung's less savory entourage, they would have let him bleed out by principle, as payback for falling out of their favor. So, why didn't Felix do that?

It was now three days after the incident, and Jisung still couldn't find an answer. What disturbed him even more, however, was how he kept on finding food and painkillers on his bedside table every time he woke up. Hell, even his bandages were changed on a regular basis while he was asleep!

Felix didn't have to do that. He didn't have to go that far. He could have just brought him to the hospital or called his father, even. He didn't have to bother nursing him back to health, of all things, and the fact that Jisung didn't know exactly what Felix wanted to get out of his alleged kindness irked him to no end.

So, on the fourth day, he decided to not take his medication on time. He hid the pills under his pillow and faked falling asleep. And, barely a few minutes later, he heard the door of his room opening. He listened closely as soft footsteps stopped beside his bed and the intruder sat on the edge of the mattress.

Soon enough, gentle hands started prodding at his wound, and Jisung moved.

Felix let out a startled yelp as, without warning, Jisung grabbed his wrists and flipped them over, effectively straddling him and pinning his wrists down. Jisung momentarily noticed how small his hands were when compared to his, how easy it'd been to manhandle his lithe body—

"What- what the hell, Jisung!?"

"I should be the one saying that," bit out the dark-haired boy without really thinking. "Don't you remember what I said I'd do to you if I found you in my room?"

Felix glared up at him. "You're in no position or state to beat up someone, asshole, let alone the one person ensuring your stupid self doesn't bleed out."

Jisung narrowed his eyes. "I didn't need your help."

"Uh-huh. That's why you asked for it when you stumbled in with a gunshot wound."

"What the fuck do you want!?" finally snapped Jisung, annoyed.

Felix looked a bit taken aback. "I... what?"

"What do you want from me? You wouldn't have bothered saving my life if you weren't getting something out of it. So? What the fuck do you want?"

"Nothing! I'm studying to become a doctor, I could save you, so I did—"

"Bullshit," hissed Jisung, ignoring the burning pain in his abdomen – he'd probably tore open his stitches when flipping them over. "Everyone wants something. What do you want? Money? More space? My father's favor? What!?"

"Nothing!"

"No one does anything for free! Tell me!"

"I don't—"

"TELL ME!"

"I WANT TO GO BACK TO AUSTRALIA!!!"

Jisung's growing anger was instantly blown away by Felix's unexpected shout, but even more so by the sight of the tears now filling his eyes. He was gritting his teeth, glaring mightily, and obviously struggling to keep his tears from falling.

Why... is he crying...?

"I want to go back to Australia," he repeated, the venom in his voice making Jisung's heart ache, for some reason. "I miss my country, I miss my home, I miss my brother, I miss- I miss the life I had before I was forced into this fucked up deal...!"

"Because you think I'm any happier?" huffed Jisung. "To lose what little freedom I had left and end up stuck with a pampered brat like you, who knows nothing of the ugly side of living?"

"And you think I wanted to get stuck with a fucking bully like you?"

"What? I'm not—"

"You threatened me.You hated me the moment we met, and as soon as we were alone, you started treating me like crap. What, did you think I actually wanted any of this? Well, flash news, jerk – I didn't! I didn't want to leave my family, I didn't want to move to Korea, I didn't want to live here knowing every day could very well be my last!"

Jisung deflated a bit at that, confused by the last part. "What do you mean? Why would your life be in danger? You're married to me – the son of the most powerful mafia leader in the country. You're safer than you ever were—"

"I didn't come here for safety—" Oh boy, the tears were falling now, and Jisung hated the mixed emotions he felt upon seeing them. "—I came here as a hostage."

"... I don't get it."

Felix let out a dry laugh, sniffling a bit. "Don't you? You're such an idiot... Our fathers didn't seal the deal the old-fashioned way with an arranged marriage just for the financial insurance – it was because my dad had a lot of dirty stuff on yours, so your dad didn't feel safe enough to agree to a partnership unless he had something of equal value in his possession. So, my father agreed to sell me off – if he ever turns on your group or does something that goes against your father's wishes, it's me who's going to pay for it."

"That's..."

Jisung felt sick. He wanted to deny it heartily, but he knew his father too well for that. And, suddenly, the situation made a lot more sense. Why would he make Felix live with him, for example?

So you'll shoot him if he tells you to, answered a vicious voice in the back of his head.

"Let me go," demanded Felix, struggling a bit to shake him off without aggravating his injury. "Let go, Jisung. I'll leave you alone, so let—"

"No."

"W- what? What do you mean, no? You can't—"

"I'm sorry."

Felix's eyes were wide, tears clinging beautifully to his lashes, and Jisung momentarily found himself losing himself in the beautiful, deep brown irises that seemed to be filled with stars, for some reason. He'd always known Felix was pretty, but he didn't know he was that pretty.

"I'm sorry," he repeated, the words foreign on his tongue, but sounding right. Felix was still gawking at him, at a loss for words. "I didn't... I didn't know that."

"... would it have changed anything? You hate me anyway."

"I don't... hate you. I was just pissed," admitted Jisung, his throat a little dry as he unconsciously glanced at Felix's lips – he only now noticed how close they were. "I thought you were just an arrogant prick who'd been too spoiled his entire life, and I didn't- I didn't want to bother getting to know you any better because then it'd just have felt like I was giving in to my dad's games, and I..."

"You didn't want to lose," completed Felix, his tone... different. "Not to him."

Jisung nodded mutely, somewhat surprised Felix had understood him so easily – but then again, it looked like they might have a lot more in common then he'd first imagined. Before he could ponder over it more, however, a sharp pain made him cringe, and Felix's expression instantly shifted back to anger.

"You idiot! You opened your stitches! Let go before you mess up my work even more!"

A tad too shaken by everything that had just transpired, Jisung did as told, carefully climbing off Felix to lay back down. Quickly wiping his tears away, Felix then got up and got to work, grumbling under his breath as he started fixing the stitches.

All the while, Jisung couldn't help but stare at him.

His husband was even prettier when berating him – for some reason, Jisung couldn't help but feel warm inside as, for the first time in his life, he experienced genuine kindness.
