Chapter 6 - Secret Admirer (Armin x Annie)

Annie's Point of View (POV)

I was an outsider, everybody hated me. I got used to it over time: the back stabbing, name calling, and getting heartbroken. The more I was hurt, the more my heart became cold. It wasn't possible for me to feel emotion anymore. I had no friends, but I was okay with that. Until I met him.

I sat by myself at lunch almost out of sight from everybody. I took out a book and and began to eat a snack.

"Hey Annie! What're you reading?" A voice said behind me.

Great, Armin's here to annoy me again. "I told you to stop coming over here; you're bringing attention to yourself," I muttered. Some students started whispering.

Some girls near me said, "Ah, that student body president is forcing himself to talk to Annie. The teachers probably tell him to. Poor Armin."

I looked back down at my book, attempting to ignore them.

Armin looked at me and noticed I heard them too. "You know, I come here at my own will. I just wanted to let you know, I really do enjoy talking to you… Could I talk to you outside? I feel like people are watching."

Eager to escape the crowd of eyes, I hastily grabbed my stuff and walked out with Armin trailing behind me.

We sat down outside on a bench. "So what do you want to talk about?" I asked.

He paused for a moment, trying to find the right words. "I know you don't see me as a friend… But I really want to be."

"Why?" I was confused and shocked. Who would want to be friends with someone like me?

"I admire you so much because in grade school I got bullied a lot. I got depressed. But I had Eren and Mikasa to protect me. You...you're stronger than me. You have nobody to protect you. Also… I remember in middle school, when you had many friends. I noticed you were always laughing and smiling.. Point is, I want to see you smile like that again." He looked down turning very red.

I giggled, "When did you start looking at me that way, Armin?"

Bertholdt and Reiner Bonus Story

Reiner and Bertholdt were walking out the cafeteria. "I saw Annie go out this way," Bertholdt pointed ahead.

"I hope she's fine. If some idiot tried to hurt her again I swear I'm going to-"

They stopped and saw Annie sitting on a bench. "There she is!" Bertholdt raised his voice.

"Shut up! She might hear us," Reiner said while covering Bertholt's mouth.

They crouched down into a bush. "Is that Armin?! What is he doing here!" Reiner whispered.

"Shh, let's try to listen to what they're saying."

They strained their ears trying to hear some parts, "I know you don't see me as a friend but..." Reiner and Bertholdt gave a panicked look at each other. "That's why I want to be by your side..."

Reiner started to get upset and was about to leave from the bush. Bertholdt stopped him, "We can't walk in. Annie-chan will get mad."

Reiner sat back down and pouted. "We're her 'Mommy Bertholdt' and I'm 'Daddy Reiner' anyways. She's too young to talk to boys; she should only be allowed to talk to us," Reiner said glumly.

Mommy Bertholdt put his arm around Reiner's shoulder. "We need to build enough courage to actually talk to her first," he groaned. They both accepted this and were depressed the rest of the week.

(Author's note: sorry this is not our best fanfiction, we just had to add this armin x annie story in so that we can connect it to our next fanfiction... Which will be Mikasa vs. Annie school fight in the next chapter)
