Iris Drew- The Ghosts of the past.

"Lily wait up!" Petunia called out from a distance as she jogged to catch up with Lily who was running a little distance away. A flock of birds flew overhead in the evening sky as the glowing orange sun cast long shadows on the sandy ground.

Iris Drew trailed behind her cousins kicking pebbles as she roamed barefoot. Her shoes were in her gloved hands as she walked along the edge of the pond completely carefree. She bent down and picked up a small round pebble in her hand. She weighed it and then threw it over the water surface. The pebble bounced twelve times before sinking. Iris smirked. She knew she was good at it.

"Wow Iris! That was amazing! Do that again." seven year old Lily squealed coming closer. Iris grinned at her older cousin and picked up another pebble. She again threw it in a way that it bounced on the water surface before sinking to the bottom.

"Will you teach me to do that? Please..." Lily begged. Iris nodded.

"Teach me as well." Petunia said in a bossy tone. Iris rolled her eyes but nodded.

"It is pretty simple actually. All you have to do is choose a flat pebble. Stand with your legs wide apart and then fling it horizontal to the surface. Like this." she said demonstrating and a pebble flew out to bounce seven times. "Now try that." she said smiling. Petunia picked up a pebble eagerly. So did Lily. They both tried for their first time. Petunia's managed to bounce five times before sinking. Lily's sank straight down. Her lower lip quivered.

"It's okay. Even I did not get it the first time. Try again." Iris said encouraging her cousin. She picked up another pebble. So did Petunia. Lily tried again but failed. Petunia managed to bounce it seven times. She was almost natural. She smiled.

"Let me help Lily." she said and picked up a stone for her sister. "Here. This is nice, round and flat. Try with this." she said and Lily took the stone from her sister.

"Okay now stand with your legs apart and bend slightly. And hold your arm this way." Iris adjusted her position. "Okay now try throwing it in that angle. Fling it hard. But not too hard." she advised. Lily nodded. Her expression was determined. She flung the pebble. It bounced five times on the surface of the water before sinking.

"Yeah! I did it. Tuney I did it. Did you see? I did it Iris!" she jumped around laughing in satisfaction. Iris beamed. Petunia smiled.

"Yes Lily you did it. Now let's go home. It's getting dark." she said softly.

"But I want to try one more time. Please Tuney." she begged. Tuney looked like she would say no. But Lily's puppy dog eyes did the trick. "Okay but just one more time." she said with a smile. Lily picked up another pebble. She flung the pebble. It bounced five times yet again before sinking.

"Yeah Tuney! I learned it too!" she squealed.

"Now let's go home." Tuney said extending both her arms. Lily took her right as Iris reached for her left. As they left Iris spotted a young boy of around Lily's age staring at the trio. He wore a smock top and a large overcoat. His black hair was long and unevenly cut as if someone had cut them with a knife at home. He stood under the large birch tree quiet as a cat. Had she not looked in the direction and squinted she would never have noticed him. He seemed to blend well into the shadows. Iris narrowed her eyes at the suspicious looking boy in his oversized clothes.

He was staring at Lily. Iris grew uncomfortable and wanted to get out of there as fast as possible. His eyes suddenly turned to look at Iris. Her emerald green eyes met his coal black and she had the biggest urge to run. She wanted to get away from there. As far away as possible. And then he cracked a smile. Iris calmed. She realised that it was just another human guy like her. Not some vampire or werewolf like her father had warned her of. His eyes held the same innocence as hers. She smiled back out of pure instinct.

They had by now reached the bridge crossing. Iris ran over the bridge leaving Petunia's hand. Lily followed. Petunia ran after them telling them to stop and be careful. Once across the bridge Iris looked back in the direction of the birch tree. But the boy was not there anymore. He had suddenly disappeared. Had she imagined him? No she certainly hadn't. She shrugged thinking he may have gone home and walked away with Tuney and Lily.

Okay guys here's a bonus chapter. And two updates in one day. Am being such a good writer. I know it's short. But then tell me what you think. And if you read this author's note then type IRIS in the comments box.

Also if you liked it more are coming. It will reveal small bits of their past. And I know Petunia is soooooo ooc. But I imagine her to be a good sister. And I personally think she only changed after finding Lily is a witch. So the character change.

Umm vote if you like it and comment if you don't. Even hate comments are welcome if they come with reasoning...yeah that's it for today. Bye!!!
