Shiko is a relatively tall and muscular young man with a small frame, which he tries to hide by working out to increase his muscles. He has short black hair, one lock golden blond because of his quirk, and he usually wears it slicked back with gel. He has half round happy-looking dark blue eyes, matching his friendly and outgoing personality. He sports a row of freckles going from ear to ear, and has a birthmark underneath his left eye. He also wears a dragon-earring around his right ear, the color matching his golden hair lock. Although invisible when wearing his school uniform, he also usually has a lot of bruises covering his quirk based light yellow skin.

During school hours, he wears the regular male U.A. uniform, replacing the usual brown dress shoe with black boots, and additionally wearing white fingerless gloves.

When coming home, he usually showers first and then leaves out the gel, making his hair fall in front of his eyes. He then dresses up in relaxing clothing, usually consisting of a shirt with a dark blue open hanging vest over it and the same color blue pants, finishing off the outfit with a pair of white slippers.

His hero costume consists of a black T-shirt and pants, both made of special material to absorb sunlight, helping him with his quirk. On his chest he wears a sun-shaped symbol, used to reflect light from his quirk, blinding his opponents. The same material is used for his bracers, knee pads and belt. Like in his school uniform, he also wears his white gloves and black boots. However, he does not wear his earring, claiming that "It falls off too easily."
