Moon's POV

Moon was waiting in her cave, waiting for Qibli. He said he'd be back soon. It was nighttime now, and Qibli had left a few hours ago. Moon was in too much pain. She got hit with what felt like a wave of pain, and cried out.

As she cried out in pain, she heard talons skidding on the hallway floor. Oops. Was she too loud? But she didn't care, the pain was back, and she cried out again. Suddenly, Qibli burst through the doorway, and ran as fast as he could over to Moon. "MOON!" He cried.

Moon cried out again, the pa back again, this time even more unbearable. "OW! QIBLI!" She screamed into Qibli's shoulder as he ran up to her and wrapped his wings around her. "Hey, hey, it's gonna be ok." Qibli said, his voice wobbly. "ARGH!" She yelled, hit with more pain. "Qibli, it's coming!" She yelled, tears streaming down her face. "Ok! It's ok! It's gonna be ok, we'll get through this!! Here, come- never mind, I'll just carry you over here, there's a bed of moss and ferns." He said, hoisting her up and carrying her over to the little nest that he and Kinkajou made for the egg when it came. Which was now, apparently.

"Moon, breathe, it's going to be ok, you ca pan do this!" Qibli said, placing her down on the moss bed.

She took a deep breath in and out. "Ok, start pushing. That's what Secretkeeper said you should do." Qibli said, resting his forehead on hers, moonlight dancing around them. "Right." She managed to grit out. She took another deep breath, and started to push.

(Authors note: Yall I'm sorry but I don't know how to put this, like, I can't say, pLoPpEd or some sht, [😭] so uh, pretend the egg just...idk....came out...ig?? 😭)

Moon breathed heavily, but she felt a lot lighter. The egg definitely had been heavy, so it was a relief to have it out of her. She curled up around their egg, and gazed at it. It was quite large, Moon had wondered whether or not she had laid it too late. Oh well, that question would be answered soon. They egg was a black, with white specks that looked like stars, and light brown patches all over it. It was beautiful, Moon loved it.

She looked up at Qibli and saw him gazing down at their egg in astonishment. "Moon, you did it." He whispered, laying down next to her. "No, we did it." She whispered back. 

He chuckled. "Moon, I wasn't the one who just laid an egg." "Oh, come on, you're making me sound like a chicken!" She laughed, and shook her head. "No, you're not a chicken, you're much more beautiful." He said. "Awww, thank you, but flattery won't get you anywhere." She smiled, and he fake pouted.

Moon still lay curled up on the moss nest, next to the egg, when she finally fell asleep.

Moon at last had woken up. She yawned, and looked down at the egg. She screamed.

There. Was. A. Crack. In. The. Egg. 

She stared at it in horror and fear for what was to come. She lept up and started pacing back and forth. Pretty soon, Qibli came running in. "Moon?! What's wrong?!" He cried, running over to her. 

"T-the e-egg, I-it's c-cracked." She whispered, unable to get the words out. She pointed at the crack right down the middle of the egg. The color had been drained from her face, and she was completely terrified for them. Tears started streaming down her face, her throat closing in, unable to breathe. She started wheezing, and Qibli faced her. "Moon, breathe. Breathe." He said, a slight wobble to his voice. "I CANT!" She screamed, unable to contain it in any longer.

"I can't, I can't, I cant. Look at the egg, Qibli! LOOK AT IT!" She yelled, throwing her arms out.

"Moon! I see it!" He cried, dismayed. He suddenly gasped. "Moon- what- what if- you laid it late, and it's hatching?!" He cried, his face lighting up. "Yes!! That-that's probably it!" She choked out, relieved. 

"Guys?" A small voice said. Sunny poked her head through the cave entrance. "What's all the yelling about?" She asked, walking in. Moon lept up, shielding  the egg. "Woah, calm down." Sunny chuckled, taking a step back and facing her palms to them, showing innocence. 

"S-sorry. Just instinct." Moon whispered, feeling embarrassed. "Hey, no need to be sorry. I get it. So, how's the egg?" Sunny asked Moon. "Uh-uhm y-you can see it if you w-want." Moon stuttered, taking a step back for Sunny to see the egg. She laid down and curled herself around the egg, it still visible, but protected from harm.

Sunny gasped. "Oh wow! It's beautiful!" She cried happily, looking at Moon and Qibli, smiling. Moon smiled down at the egg. Sunny gasped again, but this time, dismayed. "T-the egg! There's a crack!" Sunny cried, dismayed, her talons flying to her mouth. Moon flung her wings around it, arching her back a little, and growled, "I know." 

"O-oh. Uhm, sorry..?" Sunny said, confused by her defensiveness. But Moon didn't care, nor did she back down. If these were her motherly instincts, she would let them come. They were there for a reason, after all. Moons spine spikes ruffled up, making her seems bigger. She bares her teeth a little, to make Sunny back down. She did.

"Uh- I'm...gonna go." Sunny said, a hint of confusion still in her voice. She spun around and walked out of the cave, turning left. Moon sighed, and rested her spikes and wings. 

"Woah." Qibli said, turning to her. Moon nervously chuckled. "Uh- motherly instincts?" She tried, lifting her shoulders up in a shrug and nervously smiling. "That was awesome. Protective mother  Moon Mode turned on." He said, chuckling, and walked over to her and laid down next to her.

Moon sighed again and rested her head on her talons. The egg was fine, for now. So, she would have to be, too.

So, the chapter wasn't as long as I wanted, but I had just realized, like, an hour ago that I needed to start writing this chapter, thennnnn I got sidetracked for like half an hour 😅 

But it's done now! Until next weeeeeekkk!

don't worry guys, I have a name!! It will be released next chapter, or next Wednesday, as well as the egg hatching! I'm posting this on a Wednesday, but I'm most likely going to update it Thursday or Friday, (or possibly even over the weekend,) with the link to another drawing, but this time of the egg. :]

btw, what are y'all on abt with the "Toyota" and "hamburger" where I said I was bi??😰😰🤧🤧🤧 Yall I'm so confused 😭😭😭
