Samantha's POV

Summer vacation was now officially over. Now it was time for school to start back out. So far, the brotherhood got only one new member. The rest of my summer was spent getting work done on the house.

Right now, I was currently getting ready to go to school. But while I was getting ready, my phone started ringing.

"Hello, " I said, answering the phone.

"Hello, my angel, "mom's voice said over the phone.

"Mom, glad to hear from you, but is there a reason you called?" I asked.

"I just wanted to see how you're doing, " she replied.

"I'm good. I got repairs done to the house, and you already know about the new member since I called you over the summer to get her registered for school."

"Yeah, glad to hear the house is fine. Anyway just wanted to check on you and say that I'm still looking for Wanda and another mutant. So I won't be back yet, but you may see me already, " she said.

"Okay, when you say I see you around, you mean I see you around shift shape?" I asked.

"Yeah, I will be around shift shape gathering information I need to find them. I know where to get the information just need a way to get to it, so you see me around. I was only letting you know, so if you see me, you don't accidentally say, mom."

"Got it, well I better get to school bye, mom, talk to you later, and good luck getting your information."

"Bye Angel. Have a good day at school and keep the boys out of trouble."

"Understand, " I said before hanging once she was done talking.

Then I shifted shape and grabbed my backpack once I was done getting ready for school. Then I ran downstairs and headed to my car to drive myself, Rogue, and Mary to school.

Timeskip...

"Man, this bombs, yo! Even the flies here think they’re better than us!" Toad complained after failing to catch a fly with his tongue.

The start of a new year and semester at Bayville High brought a new principal, which meant an assembly. I leaned against the gym wall, along with the rest of the Brotherhood.

"Yeah, I don’t even know what we’re doing at school anyway," Blob agreed.

"But we do know what here, " Pietro mocked, looking at Lance as he searched for Kitty in the bleachers.

"He'd like to get a certain Kitty stuck in a tree, " Pietro jabbed while they laughed. "K-I-S-S-I-" he continued running away from Lance as he swatted his arm at the speedster, hitting Toad instead.

"Ow!" he yelled as the rest of the group snickered.

"Knock it off, boys! Where at school because education is essential and because my mom wants us here. She may not be here but want she wants still goes. I'm just glad Lance moved on and doesn't still have feelings for me, " I said.

"Me too because I didn't like him fitting with my girl, " Kevin muttered.

I just rolled my eyes at Kevin's comment.

I watched as Lance started to walk to the bleachers. And noticed Kevin looking also.

"Look who Lance found," Kevin nodded, pointing his finger at Lance, who was talking to Kitty. They watched as Lance shoved a boy aside to sit behind Kitty. The look on her face as he tried to speak to her was pure disgust, making boys laugh.

"Are the boys always this crazy?" Mary asked, whispering in my ear.

I nodded. "Yeah, why do you think I hate being in charge, " I said before seeing a girl with purple hair sit by Lucy Creed.

"Hey, who's the purple-haired girl. I have never seen her before, " Rogue said.

"She must be new, but she seems almost familiar, but it's probably just my imagination, " I replied.

“And now, everyone,” a voice started, turning everyone’s attention to the podium in the center of the gym. “Let’s give a warm Bayville High welcome to our new Principal: Mr. Edward Kelley.” The two men shook hands.

"Great, this place was only bearable when Mystique was Principal. Now we have to deal with this guy?" Pietro grumbled. The entire gymnasium began to shake, and the Brotherhood boys and I and the two other girls stumbled around.

It suddenly stopped, and I looked over at Lance, who was waving at Kitty with an innocent grin on his face. When she laughed, he leaned down and whispered something in her ear.

"What’s he doing now?" I mumbled. The gym began to shake again, this time more forcefully. The scoreboard that was hanging above the podium swayed. The cords holding it up snapped, and it began to fall down.

Right before it could crush Principal Kelley, it flew across the room, missing both him and the rest of the administration.

“I thought the goody-two-shoes weren’t allowed to use their powers publicly?” I muttered, folding my arms over my body.

“Since when is Bayville on a faultline?” Principal Kelley joked, gaining a laugh from most of the student body. “Anyway, I want to welcome you all to a new semester. I know that filling the vacuum left by your previous principal, Ms. Darkholme, will not be an easy job, but it’s a challenge to which I’m looking forward. And that brings me to what I hope will become the theme of the coming semester: Meeting new challenges. You know, most of us go through life thinking we’re not so different from the people around us.” I smirked, knowing all too well he didn't realize just how different some of us really are. But I wasn't foolish enough to do anything crazy

"And that’s a mistake. Because I’ll wager that every one of us here has some unique talents, some special gifts, some ability that makes us stand out from the crowd."

I sighed, looking at the boys, knowing they wouldn't do something stupid and show their powers. I wasn’t paying attention to the rest of the speech until the uproar from the bleachers pulled me from my thoughts.

“What was that all about?” I asked as they all filled out of the gym.

“I dunno, something about the Girl’s Soccer Championship,” Blob answered. The group split to get what they needed from their lockers, leaving Mary with me.

"I have no idea where I'm going, " Mary muttered as I opened my locker.

"I'm not surprised you've never been to this school before, " I said.

I then looked at her schedule and saw she had English next. "That class in on the left, three doors down from here."

She nodded and then left to go to her class. I then looked down at my schedule to see my second period. It was Geometry. I sigh, knowing it will be a long day since I'm not too fond of math and have to deal with annoying boys.

I made a quick trip to the bathroom before going to class.

Timeskip...

"Lance, just forget it!" Kitty exasperated.

"Hey, I said I was sorry for the scoreboard thing," Lance countered. The two fought after Lance tried to talk to Kitty after school ended. I was heading to my car. Where Rogue and Mary were waiting for me. At the same time, Brotherhood boys watched from Lance’s Jeep. "Come on, don’t be mad."
 
"Lance, you can be such a jerk sometimes!" Kitty exclaimed, annoyed, as Lance grabbed her arm.

"Alvers." I looked at Scott, who was walking towards the Jeep. “Leave her alone.”

"Hey! Go recharge your batteries, goggle-boy. This is between her and me." The two leaders were head to head.
 
"Yeah? Well, now it’s between you and me." Scott reached up to his glasses, ready to blast Lance.

“Go ahead, Summers, take your best shot,” Kevin taunted from the Jeep, knowing full well that he wouldn’t do it.

"Yeah, let’s see those eyes blast me through the fence. Right here, right now," Lance continued, backing up from the other boy.

"You know what, guys?” Lance started. "Summers may like keeping things under wraps, but I’ve had it with hiding our powers."

Kitty ran to Scott and whispered to him, causing him to back off. The two X-Men walked away, and the Brotherhood snickered.

"But Mystique said–" Blob started, cut off by Lance.

“Forget Mystique! She isn’t around no more! So I say, let’s take Principal Kelley’s advice and go public with our unique talents.” The rest of the group simultaneously cheered, and Lance got in the Jeep. "Let’s go."

"Oh no, you don't!" I shouted, stopping them. "My mom will be back until I'm in charge, so you idiots better stay out of trouble, or I will punish you guys, " I commanded before heading to my car.

They nodded, and Lance drove off. I sigh, knowing full well they were still going to do something crazy because there idiots.

Timeskip...

Just like they knew they would, the boys decided to sneak out and cause a huge scene at the soccer game. The school found out about mutants but luckily, Professor X was able to erase everything from their minds.

I let out a sigh after arriving home with the foolish idiot boys.

"You idiots when I tell you not to do something next time, listen, " I said, turning into an angry demon.

The boys jumped back, scared.

Yes, mam, " the boys all said.

"Good, now that is settled. I'm going back to bed which I was doing until Mary told me you all were gone, " I said, stomping inside the house, making Rogue and Mary, who were watching the turn and look at me.

I just walked passed, just wanting to sleep.

"These boys are a pain, and I happen to be dating one of them. I just hope mom comes back soon so she can deal with them. Also, that purple hair girl I saw, I think, was mom. It just felt like her to me." I thought, lying in my bed now.

I decided to text mom goodnight before going to bed. Hoping she is getting a good night's sleep where she is.
