Samantha's POV

It had been two weeks since Asteroid M. I finally left this abandoned apartment building to return to the brotherhood's boarding home. I missed the last two days of school because of not having complete control of my powers. So my summer vacation started early. While gaining control of my powers, I learned that I had developed some new powers.

"Well, see you later, mom. Good luck finding Wanda, " I said, about to leave.

"Bye, my angel. Good luck also finding recruits. More importantly, keep the house safe. I know Rogue won't cause any trouble, but the boy will. Kevin won't, at least not on purpose, but he can cause damage when they fight. So please keep them out of trouble, " Mom said.

"Don't worry; the first thing I do will be to pay the bills and get work down on the house. I have the key to unlock your bedroom so I can grab your money." I said.

"Good, I will be back as soon as I find Wanda, " she said.

I nodded, then flew out the window shift shaped into a bird.

After a while of flying, I finally made it home to the boarding home. When I was about to open the door, I heard shouting.

I sighed, not wanting to deal with an argument on my first day back, but I knew as the team leader, I would have to deal with it.

When I opened the door and walked inside, I saw Pietro and Todd fighting over a bag of chips.

"Seriously, it's summer vacation, and you two or fighting over a bag of chips, " I said, rolling my eyes.

The two boys froze, then turned to face me and stared at me wide-eyed.

"Sam, your back, " Pietro said.

While Toad looked at my outfit, I rolled my eyes at his perverted behavior.

"Yeah, and I come home to your fighting over a bag of chips and destroying the house! Also, Toad, quit being a pervert! " I shouted, not happy about the fact the house is destroyed.

Toad and Pietro both jumped back, afraid of my yelling.

"Who is yelling and why?" Two voices asked.

I look over to see Rogue and Kevin coming down the stairs. When they saw me, they were as shocked as Toad and Pietro.

"Sam, your back, " Rogue said with a smile.

"Yeah, " I said, smiling back.

"Nice outfit, babe, and you cut your hair. It's not down to your butt anymore, " Kevin said with a smirk.

'Kevin a just as pervert as Toad but cockier about it.' I thought.

"Oh, shut up, pervert. Where Lance?" I said, noticing Lance, the only one who hasn't come down.

"Oh, he went to see a movie. Also, if you didn't want me being a pervert, you shouldn't be wearing that outfit, " Kevin said.

"I see. Why were you two fighting over a bag of chips just to get another bag of chips? If you want chips that badly, " I asked.

"Because we both want chips, and only one bag exists." Toad and Pietro both said, pulling on the bag of chips again.

"I not in the mood to deal with this. I'm going for a drive glad to see you were not foolish enough to mess with my car. I'll buy you more chips on my way back so just share the bag, or I'll beat you both up!" I said, walking through the front door.

"Fine, " they both muttered.

"Good, and why I'm out, you all clean up this house!"

"You got it, " the boys said. Rogue just gave me a look saying why me I didn't do this.

"Because somebody needs to keep the boys in line while I'm not Rogue, " I stated before walking out the door.

Third person's POV

Downtown

"Forget it; I'm leaving! You send me to a mental institution for a couple of years, then come and bring me back, hoping that um more behave like Jean! If you want Jean so bad, go and visit her!" Mary shouted, her hands surrounded in blue fire.

"Mary, control your temper. That's why you were sent away in the first place!" Her father commanded.

"I don't want here, you dumb reasons. I'm out of here and ever coming back!" Mary shouted, running off.

"I hate them so much! All they care about is Jean!" Mary shouted, punching the wall of an old building with her flaming hands while walking through a shopping district.

A girl with chest-length black hair was in a parking lot across the street and was about to get into her car when she heard the commotion. Nobody was around to see if anyone was watching, but she saw nobody else was outside. They were on inside shopping or working.

She then walked across the street over to the girl with orange shoulder-length hair that was punching the wall. When she got over, she hit the girl in the back in the hair, already able to tell she wouldn't quickly calm down.

"Well, she will be an interesting addition, " The black hair girl said, turning into Shifter but then turning back before anyone saw her. Then carried the girl to her car to head home once she finished shopping for more food.

Time skip

Mary woke up with a colossal headache and realized that in a bedroom.

'Where am I?' Mary thought, looking around the room.

She looked over at the door when she heard it open and saw a blue skin girl with red hair walk in carrying a bowl of pasta.

"Good, you're awake. I brought you something to eat, " the red-haired girl said.

"Ugh, thanks. Who are you? And where am I?" Mary asked.

"My name is Samantha Darkholme, and you are at the Brotherhood boarding home. It's a home for mutants, " Sam explained.

"So everyone is a mutant here?" She asked.

"Yeah, they are, and sorry for knocking you out, but I was just trying to get you to stop using your powers before someone saw it and tried to attack you. Anyway, what is your name?" Sam said, handing Mary the bowl of pasta.

"It, Mary Gray, and thanks for the food and stopping me before someone did see me, " she replied, taking the bowl.

"Are by chance related to a girl named Jean Gray?"

"You know my twin sister?"

"Yeah, we go to the same school. How come I have never seen you before?"

"Oh, my parents sent me away a couple of years ago to a mental institution, saying I was too dangerous and full of anger to be around. They finally came and got me a few weeks ago. Then I got mad because my they said why can't I be more like Jean. I then ran off today not wanting to deal with them, " she explained.

"Well, you can stay here. You won't have to worry about them anymore, and you can get revenge on your sister. She is our enemy. She lives with another group of mutants. They always fight against us, plus my mother would love to have you on the team."

"Sure I join, so your mother the leader of this team?"

Sam nodded. "Yeah, but she's not here right now. She is out looking for more members. So I'm in charge until then."

"I see well looking forward to working with you."

"Glad to hear it. I'll see you later. But before I go, what will your mutant name be. We all have mutant names. One is Shifter because I can shift shape. Also, I will get you a uniform. We all have uniforms also."

"You can call me Solar Flare because of the blue fire I create with my hands."

"Nice, well, I'll let you eat in peace bye, " Sam said, leaving the room.
