Chapter 2

Dust trickled down from the ceiling, an old crack slowly beginning to collapse under it's own weight as the temple groaned. It was ancient, and it's stone was slowly dying, the magic that kept it functional fading as the soul inhabiting the structure began to move on, unable to be held here by the temples owner any longer. The girl sat in the temple, angels coming and going, speaking with and seeing the illusions she created for them and never knowing who their creator really was.

She was only twelve- or looked to be that age- and she hadn't moved in centuries, nor truly spoken. She'd sworn an oath to her brother a long, long time ago that she wouldn't move or even speak until he'd forgiven her.

She hugged herself, looking at the temple around her and knowing that she couldn't keep this up much longer. Maybe two or three more times at most before the temple could no longer be supported. She was beginning to lose hope of her brother ever forgiving her for her mistake... it had been made so long ago...

A man paced in his room, looking through mirrors scattered everywhere around his room and desperately searching for some sign of the men he was chasing. Four men... he still found it odd. He pulled that oddness in a way he still didn't fully understand and pushed it into a mirror before reaching in with his actual hand and pulling his reflection out through the glass. He grinned, getting dressed and heading out to work a job that he'd been struggling to keep.

That was six clones active at once, now... he'd never had so many at the same time before. Three were working various jobs, one handled school, and another was practicing with every weapon he could. the last one was here, at the home, and tasked with caring for the original.

He was human, but he had an odd ability. He'd been speaking to a vampire, and been bitten... he hadn't even seen it coming. Instead of the venom changing him, though, he'd pulled away and thrust his arm into a mirror, somehow destroying it and pulling out his first clone. It had died quickly, and he'd learned everything it knew...

Then he'd run and come here. A god had visited him and offered him a world without magic- shown it to him. It was beautiful... and he wanted it. The job was simple- harass the group and try to kill one or both of the treaty couple. He was fine with that. So he was practicing, learning, and improving. Hopefully he'd get a computer job soon...

He needed to find that blasted group...

A god sat on a balcony, looking in through the glass doors at his creation, and his sister's creation. Two creatures born of opposite powers attempting to coexist. He already knew that that was possible... he wanted to know how close they could get without destroying each other. If his demon and her angel could be together as lovers... he might be able to forgive her.

That was a stretch though... besides, he doubted the demon would have the understanding to flirt with a being as dense as an angel. He'd offered him help already, and a bit of push in motivation, but... it was hard to just stand back and watch. It was in her nature, not his. he loved being out and about. People called him Lucifer when he disguised himself like he had- First child of the chaos god.

Like this, he pretended to be a powerful demon... maybe Richard would come out to smoke and he could offer his aid as Lucifer. It was an option he left available to the demon, and hoped he'd take. He wanted to see this succeed... because if it didn't, his creation, his child, would get close to an angel that was already marked for death. His sister was so very pragmatic...
