Chapter 71: The Unstoppable Spear against the Unwavering Shield

(Your POV)
After our meeting, we students decided to go explore Kyoto a bit more, but this time, we brought Kunou along so we could try and get her mind off things. What better place to spend the afternoon than at Togetsukyou, which was a great bridge overlooking a river while hills surrounded us. These hills were covered in trees that had crimson red leaves, giving me a strong autumn feel. There were also a couple gift shops nearby, where everyone except Yozakura, Kiba, and I was buying stuff from. I looked up at the sky and noticed how the sun was beating down on us. Why did our trip have to be this week? It's rather hot this week. "So this is the Togetsukyou bridge, it's quite large don't you think?" Kiba asked as all three of us held a bottle of water in our hands.

"For a place like this, I'm surprised there's no supernatural stuff about it." Yozakura was looking up intel on this bridge, does she feel the need to constantly scout ahead with information for every little thing we do? "Just a small legend, but that's entirely rumor and bad statistics. Why can't people see that the legend about this bridge is just a baseless rumor?"

"Not everything is 100% serious, some people just like doing these things for laughs." Kiba looked over Yozakura's shoulder. "Huh, apparently if you or your partner look behind yourself while crossing the bridge, it will make you two break up."

"What an overly specific magic." I was scanning the scrolls Jiraiya and Tsunade sent me so I could learn some summoning magic. So far my only really effective magic is alteration magic, so a conjuration focused magic could be useful.

"It's not magic, it's just something people made up." Kunou was walking towards us from the bench with a small basket, and she was wearing her usual shrine outfit. "That rumor started when a couple walked on the bridge, and the husband was looking over his shoulders the entire time. When the two got off the bridge, a third woman came out of nowhere and claimed the man was cheating on her. Needless to say, the man's girlfriend broke up with him."

"Great, so such a stupid rumor started because of a god damn soap opera." Yozakura doesn't appear to like anything romantic, I wonder what the deal with that was. Scratch that, they appeared to make her nervous...Rias told me one time to not ask people about things that make them uncomfortable in public, so I'll wait before asking her. "I can't understand why we're just standing around here doing nothing when the kyuubi is in danger."

"An overused blade is a useless blade, besides, we can't do anything right now." I reminded the girl, given how Kiba's familiar is the only useful one right now, we had no choice but to wait for something, anything really.

"So we're basically stuck in tourist mode?" Yozakura asked, and I nodded in response to this. "Well this sucks. Wait a minute, where's Nahele?"

"He's down by the river, trying to bite the fish." Kiba pointed down towards the river below the bridge, where I saw Nahele attempting to grab onto a fish with his mouth. "Even though he has his muzzle on..."

"I'm curious as to how he became a wendigo though." I spoke my mind about Nahele. "Usually a person becomes a wendigo through cannibalism, meaning Nahele must have eaten someone, so I want to know what happened in his past that forced him into cannibalism. I'm guessing desperation."

"I'll look into his files later." Yozakura promised as the rest of our group started walking towards us from the gift shop. "Finally, they're done."

"Guys, let's walk on the bridge!" Sarah seemed to be overly enthusiastic about walking on the bridge. "Yozakura, don't you dare look behind us or I'ma be pissed."

"But what if there's an assassin?" Yozakura questioned, and in response, I pointed at the water.

"Who would be dumb enough to attack a water user on top of a river?" I asked, and while it wasn't an ocean, water is water, and I can use it. "Plus I can control the plant life around us using druidry, as well as the rocks beneath our feet."

"Fine, let's go across the stupid bridge." Yozakura finally caved about going across the bridge, causing all of us to get up from our spots on the bench.

With that said, all of us got into odd pairs, except Nahele, who was already on the other side of the bridge. Nico suddenly jumped onto Kiba's back, eating a gingerbread man in one hand and pointing forwards with the other. Sarah was grabbing onto Yozakura's hand as she practically dragged the girl behind her. As for me, Asia and Xenovia were clinging to each of my arms. While it would have been difficult to move for most people, it was fine for me. "Um...why are you both clinging to me?"

"Xenovia, I thought it was Asia's turn to cross the bridge with him." Irina tried prying the blue haired swordsman off of me, but to no avail. "We all agreed we would walk with him in turns."

"I never said I would agree to that." Xenovia stated, and the three of us walked on the bridge. "Remember, don't turn around (Y/N)."

"Okay." I agreed to not turn around the entire time as I crossed the bridge, which did leave me vulnerable, but with my robot magic, I can literally create eyes in the back of my head, or a radar.

"Hey, I wonder who that is behind you, Asia." Nico asked without looking behind herself, and I assumed this was just something she was making up.

"I will never look back!" Asia tightened her grip and closed her eyes, she was really determined to not look behind her, which I have to respect. "I will be with (Y/N) forever!"

After feeling my heart melt for a couple moments, we all reached the other side of the bridge without much issue. Unfortunately, the moment we reached land, I could sense that something was off. A purple mist was rolling in from the trees, and I scanned it, making sure it wasn't poisonous. Unfortunately, the mist enveloped all of us. I couldn't see anything because of how thick it was, but I was able to see Irina, Xenovia, and Asia because the three of them were so close to me. The good news was that the mist wasn't poisonous, but something was off. The mist eventually lightened up a bit, allowing me to see the surrounding area a lot better, but the mist was still here. "Everyone regroup!" Kiba shouted, and all of us did just that, forming ourselves in a circle with Asia and Kunou in the middle. All of us got ready for combat, with Yozakura getting her razor wire, Sarah getting her launcher, and Nahele getting ready to bite a bitch through his muzzle. I summoned Solais or Xenovia to use while Kiba created a holy sword for Irina while creating a normal sword for himself. I on the other hand prepared the water underneath the bridge for an attack, while Nico was being Nico.

"This mist is...Dimension Lost." I finished scanning the mist with my robotic eyes and blinked to turn my eyes back to normal. "One of the Longinus, it's mist allows the user to trap whoever enters the mist into a dimension of their choosing or creation. Luckily, it's offensive capabilities are close to nothing, if not nothing."

"Looks like they transported us to a perfect copy of Togetsukyou, like a rating game." Xenovia got Solais ready in both hands, and now that I look at it, the blade might be too light for Xenovia, who is used to wielding a massive sword like Durandal.

"Hey, are you guys okay?!" Azazel could be seen from above with his wings out, soaring above us. "I sensed a strong magic energy from the hotel, so I came over as fast as I could."

"How'd you even get in here?" Irina asked, and since this place was another dimension like a rating game, entering and exiting should have been impossible.

"The barrier had a door, and given the design of it, Oz made it somehow." Azazel then looked at my chest. "I'm guessing that necklace made the door possible, since magic items are Oz's bread and butter."

"Kunou, are you okay?" I turned around to look at the small girl, who was going pale and appeared to be in shock.

"Before he passed...mother's guard reported that he and his team was enveloped in a purple mist..." Kunou then started sweating bullets, and I responded to this by unwrapping my selkie coat along my waist and wrapping Kunou in it.

"Relax Lady Kunou, my seal skin is just as durable as I am, it will protect you." I then crouched down towards my ankle and unrolled my pants legs, revealing my Lauer and combat knife (the one I got from Iguri) were duct taped to my leg.

"Ah, The governors the fallen angels and the King of Hope, what an honor to see the two of you here in one place." On the bridge, two figures walked towards us. The one who was talking was a boy slightly older than me carrying an odd spear. "I am Cao Cao, descendant of the famous Cao Cao from the Three Kingdoms or something like that."

"Listen well everyone, be careful of that man's spear." Azazel actually looked scared of that spear, but now that I look at it, the spear's overall power feels similar to something I can create...but what can I make that is similar to that? "That is the True Longinus, the most powerful of the Longinus sacred gears, and the spear capable of killing God himself. It hasn't been seen in a long time. To think that it was in possession of the hero faction...this is officially the worst case scenario."

"That's the spear the Seraphim fear?!" Irina didn't exactly take the news well, and was obviously two steps away from going into a full panic.

"I've heard about that spear, it was the same spear that pierced Jesus' chest, is it not?" Xenovia asked, and Azazel nodded. I don't know why, but I was fascinated by the spear, the ability to kill a god just feels familiar to me.

"The Longinus..." Asia stared at the spear in curiosity but her eyes were quickly blocked by Azazel's hand.

"Be careful Asia, that's one of the most holy relics in the world, people can lose their sanity if they stare at it too long." Azazel also closed his own eyes. "It's on par with the True Cross, Holy Chalice, Holy Nails, and the Shroud of Turin. In fact, you probably feel slightly nauseous right now."

"He's right, staring at it did make me feel slightly sick." Yozakura pointed out, which was odd.

"Weird, I feel perfectly fine." I honestly felt more than fine, it was like the power coming off that spear was amplifying my own. Figuratively of course, I have no such boosts.

"You, I have questions for you!" Kunou hid behind me while pointing at Cao Cao, who was picking his ear with his pinky finger. "Are you one of the people who took my mother away?!"

"That is correct." Cao Cao admitted, and as much I despised him, I respected his honesty in the situation. "

"What are you planning on doing with my mother?!" Kunou demanded to know, and she was about to tackle Cao Cao, but I held her back, knowing that would be a bad idea.

"We need her to cooperate in our experiment." Cao Cao answered, why can't all our enemies be like him? Honest and gets to the point.

"OH GOD WE'RE IN A CURSED HENTAI." Sarah aimed her firework launcher at Cao Cao. "WHY ARE WE CURSED TO LIVE IN SUCH A WORLD?!"

"Don't worry, it's nothing like torture or anything sexual like that." Cao Cao decided to get that out of the way. "We just need her power as the kyuubi to grant the wish of our benefactor. If anything, we kind of feel bad for her having a chest that big."

"I'm going to go on a guess here and say that the benefactor is Ophis." Yozakura guessed, and Cao Cao nodded in response. "So why are you here anyways? This encounter feels a bit too random to be a coincidence."

"Oh I just wanted to meet the King of Hope, since we're rather similar To one another." Cao Cao said we were similar. "We both want to show the supernatural world the strength of mankind, and how we humans are not to be overshadowed by the supernatural world."

"If you're like me, then couldn't you have just asked Lady Yasaka if she wished to help you?" I questioned the spear user, and he didn't answer. "Then you and I are not alike."

"I see...Leonardo, now is a good time to create your monsters." Cao Cao glared at me with detestable eyes. In response the small boy nodded in an emotionless manner.

The small boy's shadow started glowing a malicious aura while expanding, and from his shadow, many strange golem-like monsters with glowing red orbs in their faces appeared. "Damnit, this kid has Annihilation Maker, yet another one of the Longinus." Azazel informed us of the child's sacred gear. "The full power of that sacred gear allows him to create kaiju-like monsters with just a thought, so be on guard."

"You know, you shouldn't have attacked while you were on a bridge." I held my hand outwards before waving it in front of me, like I was drawing a line through Cao Cao and Leonardo.

The river quickly rose up like a massive wave, large enough to tower over Cao Cao, Leonardo, and the monsters on the bridge. Cao Cao tried blocking it, and while it did create a noticeable cut in the water, it was a paper thin cut, and the water quickly enveloped the group of people. I'm not sure what Cao Cao expected would happen if he cut the water, but the water managed to sweep away most of the monsters in a single strike, but Cao Cao and Leonardo were visibly unscathed, Cao Cao must have done something. The remaining monsters all surrounded us, and Yozakura did nothing but smirk. "Hey Nahele." Yozakura pressed something on her high tech watch, and Nahele's muzzle became loose to fall off his face and around his neck while his straight jacket came undone. "Show these 'monsters' what an actual monster is, will you?"

"I WILL DECORATE MY BIRTHDAY PARTY WITH YOUR ORGANS!" Nahele's hands were now visible, and calling them hands would be an exaggeration. His hands were pitch black and were roughly the size of my own hands, if not larger, despite Nahele being smaller than me. It was hard to tell, but the ends of his fingers appeared to be sharp like claws. Nahele ditched the strategy and decided to rip and tear, he used his right claw to tear through the first monster with ease, but unfortunately for him, it disappeared into purple glitter-like dust before he could eat the organs. "WHAT KIND OF PAIN PIÑATA DOESN'T HAVE ORGANS?!"

"That is not the kind of mindset I like working with!" Irina dodged a laser from one of the golem before using her sword to pierce it's head. "I really wish I had Excalibur Mimic with me."

"I can forge you something if you'd like." I offered the girl as I stomped my foot on the ground, causing multiple spikes of rock to stab the monsters. "It may not be a holy sword, but it's something."

""I'll be okay for now, thanks though!" Irina dodged a swing from one of the monsters, followed by me shooting the monster in the head with my Lauer. "Thanks!"

"(Y/N), you're with me!" Azazel pulled some kind of artifact from his coat pocket, and some kind of balance breaker armor, similar to Issei's, appeared around him. "Get Genbu!"

"Okay!" I sheathed my Lauer and combat knife in my pockets, then I held my palm outwards to Cao Cao and Leonardo. "Sorry, this may take a while."

"What may take a while?" Cao Cao asked as the sound of trees breaking could be heard behind Cao Cao. "What on Earth?"

Cao Cao was caught off guard by Genbu flying towards me at mach speeds, but managed to block the shield and anchor from hitting him. Still, Genbu was focused on returning to my hand, so Genbu slid past the spear user and into my hands, allowing me to get into a shield and anchor based combat stance. "Azazel, should I use Turtle Shell or Kurogame Kamikira?"

"Neither, stay in shield form." Azazel ordered, and I nodded in response, but was confused. "I have a hypothesis about your shield, and we may be able to beat Cao Cao."

"Quite the bold statement, but I look forward to what you may be planning there Commander Azazel." Cao Cao prepared the True Longinus with both hands by getting into a combat stance. "We've talked enough, so let's get to the fun part." Cao Cao lunged at Azazel with Longinus raised in the air, Cao Cao swung his blade downwards to attempt to cleave Azazel, but I got in the way before using Genbu's shield to deflect the spear, forcing Cao Cao to give me an opening by knocking his blade away, and I attempted to use this opening by striking Cao Cao's side with my anchor, but Cao Cao backed away before the anchor could touch him. "An anchor and shield?" Cao Cao examined my shield, but he looked perplexed about something. "An odd choice, but effective, assuming you're facing a slow opponent that is."

"If you'd like, I can show you how fast Genbu can be." I decided to move faster, and to do that, I needed to use Foghorn. I stomped my foot on the bridge Cao Cao, Azazel, and I stood. A mist enveloped the three of us while Leonardo ran off into the tree line, since it's highly likely that his combat experience is low.

Azazel summoned his wings and took to the air while I focused the mist around the river, ground, and the bridge, making it impossible for Cao Cao to see what I was doing. While the mist covered me, I dashed around the spear man at high speeds, even Cao Cao looked to be having trouble pinpointing where I was. When he was able to see me, I made sure to move slower than a turtle. Cao Cao tried piercing where he thought I was, but unsurprisingly, I was nowhere near there. I used this moment to put the anchor and shield back together before appearing behind Cao Cao. I attempted to strike him with the top of my shield in a punch-like manner, but Cao Cao smirked and used Longinus to block the strike, so in response, I shot the anchor, unfortunately, neither of us moved, and the mist dispersed thanks to the force dispersing. I jumped back and dislodged my anchor from the shield so I could block a flurry of blows from Cao Cao's spear, and every time he struck, I was sent back a centimeter. "Impossible..." Cao Cao whispered to himself as he struck my shield. "Hey, what is your shield?"

"A shield with an anchor connected by a chain that can disappear whenever the anchor is attached." I answered before knocking Longinus to the side using my spear and attempting to strike Cao Cao in the head with my anchor. "Not that much to process."

"No, it's more than that." Cao Cao jumped back. "Look at your shield. Normally, I can cleave through most balance breakers like they are nothing, yet your shield...it doesn't even have a scratch. It's like using straw to cut titanium."

"Cool." I looked at Cao Cao's Longinus. "It appears I'm not doing much to your weapon either."

Before Cao Cao could respond, a rain of light spears came down from above, and the source of the arrows was Azazel, who followed up by summoning a double sided light spear. Azazel swooped down to the ground to attempt to strike Cao Cao, who blocked it before attempting a strike on Azazel, followed by the fallen angel blocking it. Azazel summoned a light spear behind his back before grabbing it to jab at Cao Cao, but Cao Cao twirled his spear to deflect it. Azazel took to the air once more, and Cao Cao was about to follow him using the power of magic to fly, but I wasn't going to let that happen. I threw my anchor at Cao Cao, not with the intention to hurt him, but with the intention of hooking onto him and bringing him back to the ground. The anchor hooked onto Cao Cao and I yanked the chain before the spearman could react, pulling Cao Cao towards me. As Cao Cao was pulled towards me, I dropped my shield to use my free arm to elbow Cao Cao's face the moment he was within range, and my elbow combined with the momentum managed to give Cao Cao a bloody nose. Not only that but also made him drop the True Longinus. I suddenly had an idea, an albeit bad idea, but an idea. I dropped my anchor and picked up the True Longinus, and much to my surprise, nothing happened, it was like picking up a normal spear.

"(Y/N), what are you doing?!" Azazel shouted in confusion as Cao Cao recoiled from his bloody nose by putting a hand over his nose, and I got used to the True Longinus' shape. "(Y/N)...?"

"This feels like it was made for me." I adapted to the weapon's unique properties quickly.

"Cao Cao!" From behind me, a man who looked like Freed appeared, which I found odd because I killed Freed, technically I killed him twice. Though the second time was more like me forgetting about his corpse.

The man pulled out a pair of swords, one large and radiated a dragon slaying aura, and the other it's an aura that circled around it like a drill. In response to this, I used Longinus to deflect the swords before swinging it to send the swordsman over the bridge and over the water. I used one of my fingers to point upwards, causing the water to shoot up from below. I then used the same hand to form a kind of grabbing motion, causing all the water to envelop the swordsman. I then grabbed the air tightly, causing all the water pillar to collapse in on itself, trapping the swordsman.

"Siegfried!" Cao Cao shouted as he pulled an extendable pole, which I'm guessing was a kind of backup if he ever got disarmed. "How are you able to wield the True Longinus?!"

"Don't ask me, I never tried grabbing another person's sacred gear directly before." I answered back before dodging a jab from Cao Cao's staff, but he changed course to strike me in the head.

"Don't forget about me!" Siegfried was still active and was about to cut my head off from behind, unfortunately for him, a firework struck him right in the chest, followed by an explosion that sent him back.

"Don't fuck with my homie you pedophile-looking BITCH!" Sarah was flipping off Siegfried while Kiba appeared behind Siegfried to use one of his swords to send him back to where the others were.

With Siegfried finally out of the picture, I was able to resume my fight. Much to my surprise, Cao Cao was able to keep up with both Azazel and I using nothing but that extended pole. Azazel appeared behind Cao Cao and the two of us used our respective spears to attempt to cut Cao Cao in half from both behind and in front, but Cao Cao was crafty and jumped up before striking me in the head with the pole while kicking Azazel in the head. Cao Cao then jumped over Azazel to put all of us on one side of him, making it easier to fight us. Unfortunately for him, an unfamiliar magic circle appeared in front of us, and there was a much larger one on the side of the bridge. From the two magic circles, two figures emerged. The first one was a small girl who looked to be around Koneko's age, flying on a broomstick over the area. As for the other figure, it was a massive golem with glowing eyes. I really want to make something like that one day. Cao Cao appeared to recognize the small girl, who suddenly flew over to me.

"Nice to meet you (Y/N)!" The girl appeared to be energetic and had a bright smile on her face as she introduced herself. "I am Le Fay Pendragon, the mage of Vali's team!"

(A/N: I've only known Le Fay for a day and a half, but if anything happens to her I'm killing everyone in this room and then myself)

"Nice to meet you too, Le Fay." I adapted to the situation rather quickly. Given her last name, age, and appearance, she's Arthur Pendragon's little sister. It's also likely that she's related to Morgan Le Fay, who is said to be Arthur's sister in some tellings. After I said this, Le Fay appeared to have stars in her eyes.

"Um...is there any chance we can shake hands, I'm a really big fan of yours so um..." Le Fay awkwardly held out her hand, and I grabbed onto her hand to shake it. The first thing I noticed was how small and petite her hands were. Her hands felt like they would break if I made one wrong move, so I was extremely gentle while shaking her hand. "Yay! Done!"

"So what business does the Vali Team have being here anyways?" Cao Cao asked while eyeing the massive giant to the side.

"Oh right, I came to bring a message!" Le Fay appears to have forgotten her purpose for being here until Cao Cao reminded her of her duty. "The message was...'I thought I told you not to disrtub me'..." Le Fay adopted a deeper voice when she said the message. "You tried spying on us? Well then you need to be punished~! Gogmagog~!"

The giant golem raised both hands into the air, and instantly, I knew what it was going to do, as did Azazel. So both he and I jumped away from the bridge just as Gogmagog's arms came crashing down on top of the bridge, obliterating it into nothing but splitiners. I summoned my pair of devil wings while Azazel used his wings to fly upwards, and joining us was Le Fay on her broomstick. I couldn't see where Cao Cao was because the impact caused some dust to appear.

"Extend!"

The pole of Longinus suddenly extended into the dust cloud, allowing someone to grab it before the blade suddenly began shrinking, leaving my grasp in the process. Azazel and I landed on the ground where the others were, noticing that Siegfried went over to the other side where Cao Cao was. Cao Cao was now holding the True Longinus, a clever trick he used. Cao Cao aimed the spear at Gogmagog before making the spear extend once again, this time piercing the shoulder of Gogmagog and causing the giant golem to topple over with a large thud.

"Looks like our surveillance was discovered, so why not piss Vali off more?" Cao Cao aimed his blade at Le Fay, Azazel, and I.

From the top of the blade, a powerful beam of light came forth, and I had no idea what to do. I couldn't summon Genbu because all eyes were on me, I could call the weapon back in time, and if I dodged, I could only move Azazel or Le Fay. Like any great idiot, I made my choice, or perhaps picking my poison would be more accurate. I felt my anger within me increase because Cao Cao was attacking someone on his own side just because he was found out. I jumped in front of Azazel and Le Fay, much to both of their surprise. I raised my arms in front of my face in a kind of defensive boxing stance, letting the beam of light hit me head on. Despite the immense power behind the beam of light, I didn't feel anything, and I wasn't sent back at all. I stood my ground until the beam of light dispersed, leaving a horrified Cao Cao in my field of view.

"G-Georg, get these out of here right now." Cao Cao was terrified for some reason, and before I could pull out my Lauer to shoot at him, the mist enveloped all of us once again.

All of us were sent back into the normal world thanks to the mist, and to make sure we didn't arouse any suspicion, I made Solais disappear, Azazel deactivated his wings and armor, and Kiba made his swords disappear. I looked around and noticed how Le Fay and Gogmagog weren't here, maybe they were sent elsewhere.

"(Y/N), you and I have much to discuss." Azazel grabbed my arms and turned them so I could see the impacted area. "Starting with this." Azazel pointed out that the back of my arms now had ocean blue scales covering them. They looked just like Huitzotlpochli's blessing, but at the same time, they were different. Huitzotlpochli's scales were smooth, these ones were rough and looked like shark scales mixed with dragon scales. "Since when can you do this?"

"I don't know." I wanted to look at the scales more, but as I calmed down, the scales began disappearing, maybe they only activated when I was angry. Then I remembered that Ddraig mentioned something about my wrath.

"So none of us are going to mention the fact (Y/N) was able to use one of the most powerful objects in the universe like it was nothing?"

(A/N: HOLY SHITBALLS THIS IS THE LONGEST CHAPTER I HAVE EVER MADE! And hopefully, I never make one this long ever again! Why is this one a longboi? Well there was no good way to make this fight into, so I just said 'fuck it', and did this monstrosity. Will I make another chapter this long ever again? Gods I hope not. I just don't like writing long chapters, I just get consumed by anxiety and fear of keeping people waiting. Also, Le Fay is in the harem because DxD doesn't give us exact ages to work with, so I'm assuming she's Koneko's age. Am I wrong? I most likely am but I am a dumbass who rivals god, there is no stopping me once I set my mind to something. Well except for depression, in which case yeah I kind of do stop.
