Chapter 68: Kyoto

(Your POV)
Everyone was getting ready for the trip to Kyoto, and I was going too to protect Kiba, Asia, Xenovia, and Irina, all of whom were second years. Nahele was also a second year student, but given how he's wearing a straight jacket and a muzzle, we thought the idea of sending him to school would be a bad idea. "THERE IS AN OCEAN OF BLOOD AND SO I MUST SURF IT!" Nahele was a Native American boy from somewhere in the Great Lakes region in North America. His hair was pitch black, his eyes glowed a cannibalistic yellow, black pants covered his legs, his mouth was covered with the same muzzle we use for werewolves, and his upper body was restrained in a straight jacket.

"This is why you don't do cannibalism, kids, you end up like him." Coyote pointed at Nahele. "To think just a couple years ago, he was just your average student, and now he goes around murdering everything he can."

"Are you sure we have to bring him along?" Yozakura was packing her bags, since I was not going alone to Kyoto, I was bringing Yozakura, Sarah, Souri, Jiang, Hua, Hanuman, Sang, Nico, Paul, and Nahele with me. I then noticed Sarah was applying hairspray. "Sarah, why are you applying hairspray?"

"Because if we die on this mission, I wanna die smoking hot." Sarah did a stupid pose while doing a split on the wall.

"If I die, I wanna die ugly and braless." Yozakura struck the pyrotechnician on the back of the head.

"I just wanna die." Jiang was modifying his primary weapon, which appeared to be a handaxe and a dagger connected together with a lengthy yet thin chain. "Anyhow, why are all of us going to Kyoto?"

"Asia, Irina, Xenovia, and Kiba, all four of whom are currently at school, are going to Kyoto for a school trip." Rias said while she, Akeno, Koneko hugged me tightly as I lied on the couch. "You all are entering Yokai territory, and given how we haven't formed an actual alliance with them yet, it would be better to send you guys in for now. Good news is that Rossweisse is now their teacher, so she will be there too."

"As useful as that is to know, I'm slightly distracted by the fact that all three of you are cuddling Lord (Y/N)." Hua was polishing what looked to be a glistening jian sword with a silver guard. "Why are all three of you...?"

"(Y/N)'s going to be gone for a long time, so we're recharging." Akeno answered while her face was in my chest. "I'm going to miss him the most~, so please bring him back safely."

"Of course Madame Akeno, not one hair on (Y/N)'s head will be harmed!" Souri promised while doing a bow, I didn't see any weapons on Souri's person, so I'm assuming she uses magic.

"Thank you, I'm just going to miss you so much (Y/N)." Rias intertwined her fingers with my own. "These four days will be torture without you here, so are you sure you can't just send your pieces."

"Most of the students have better things to do, after all, they have lives too you know." Anubis walked past us with a clipboard. "Us gods are pretty much banned from entering Yokai territory unless we get permission beforehand, the only exception to that rule in our room is Hanuman. Who can pass himself off as a descendant of Sun Wukong. Humans, devils, similar beings, or whatever the hell Nico is are free to enter Yokai territory so long as they don't intentionally cause destruction."

"Hohohoho!" Hanuman rolled by on one of those chairs with wheels you'd see at desks. "We're going to Kyoto?!"

"We're only allowing you to pass because you can pass as a Monkey Yokai." Anubis sweatdropped. "Plus we have yet to see what you're capable of with our own eyes, stories can easily be exaggerated."

"Are you questioning my power?" Hanuman feigned shock when he heard this, and Anubis rolled his eyes.

"No, all of us just need to prove what we're capable of." Anubis then began giving some examples. "Quetzalcoatl uses wind magic, Cernunnos can switch between plant/wildlife magic to extreme demonic power, and Sang is undoubtedly the best marksman I have ever met."

"(Y/N), please be back soon, and let us know when you start feeling depressed, we'll do our best to support you." Koneko was holding onto my other hand as Anubis placed a white paper bag on the coffee table beside me. "What's that?"

"It's medicine for your curse." Anubis explained while pulling out a scarab like the one I ate yesterday while I was confined in chains and blankets. "I understand the effects of your curse will hinder your emotional state, so it's best if we keep your mentality healthy."

"That sentence has too many syllables, APOLOGIZE!" Nahele attempted to launch himself at Anubis like a human missile, but he was stopped by Coyote grabbing his neck using his jaw.

"Hey (Y/N), you're riding with me to the train station, are you ready for Kyoto?" Rossweisse walked out of her room with a suitcase close behind her, and all three girls had to get off me so I could get up.

"Yeah, everything I need is in this bag here." Thanks to the fact I actually rested myself yesterday, I was feeling better thanks to her. "Should we get going?"

"Sure, does anyone want to go with us?" Rossweisse offered everyone in the room, and Rias, Akeno, and Koneko all raised their hands in sync. "Someone who's actually going to Kyoto with us?"

"I'd love to, but Sarah's putting on perfume, and I don't want to subject any of you to that torment." Yozakura pointed at Sarah.

"Don't be jealous."

(Timeskip, brought to you by Sarah and Nahele annoying Yozakura by playing trumpets behind her while the spy worked on the computer)

I was now on a train to Kyoto, and given how Kuoh rented out an entire car, I had to sit away from my fellow classmen. Luckily, Rossweisse sat next to me while Yozakura and Sarah sat in front of me. In the aisle across from us, sat Nahele, Jiang, Hua, and Sang. Hanuman, Paul, and Nico had their own methods of travel, and Souri was atop my head. "So guys, are you looking forward to Kyoto?" Sarah asked while Yozakura whipped the mascara off her face. "I wanna see all the fireworks!"

"I already went last year, but it was a nice trip anyways." I looked out the window, and noticed how fast everything went by on the train. "I didn't get to learn all the history there before I left, so I'll probably do some sight seeing as well as my duty."

"Oh yeah, I forgot you're a third year student." Yozakura recalled that little piece of information. "Did you go with Rias and Akeno too?"

"No, my group was Onihime, Nico, and Ayako." I answered, and now that they mentioned it, I didn't see either of them the entire trip, I wonder where they were. "Now that I think about it, Unohanna and Kankuro did mention that they were paired up with a red head, who was obsessed with the temples."

"I think that was Rias, she's such a Japanophile, in fact, it's likely that she moved here from hell just for that exact reason." Yozakura was searching through her phone. "According to the security footage at the Kyoto train station, she was mad she had to leave Kyoto, and even stomped on the way out."

"Yozakura, could you not hack into security systems for one day, please?" Rossweisse honestly wanted a somewhat normal trip for us, which is going to be hard considering she is now a teacher for Issei's class.

"I wonder if Issei would have liked to be here..." At the thought of my best friend, I instantly grew depressed, but Rossweisse suddenly gripped my hand in an embarrassed yet determined manner.

"Don't worry about Issei, when he gets better, you can always bring him here." Rossweisse reassured me with a smile, and her positivity was contagious because I felt better.

"Besides, we're doing him a favor." Yozakura pointed out. "Out of all the guys in the household, Issei has the smallest 'little friend' in his pants. I think? The gods like their privacy, so they use magic to cut off my cameras like an EMP."

"You have cameras in the bathrooms?" Hua looked mortified by this sudden announcement, something tells me he didn't expect this. "Remove them at once!"

"I can't do that if I'm not there, so we're going to have to wait until we get back home for that." Yozakura looked out the window with me.

"(Y/N)?" Xenovia walked past me for whatever reason, and was surprised to see me here. Not that I blame her, I forgot to tell her I was going with her to Kyoto. "Are you okay? You didn't look too well yesterday."

"I'm fine today thanks to Anubis' medicine and some rest, so thank you for you concern." I thanked the girl, and I did still have bags under my eyes, but they weren't as noticeable. "Are you excited for Kyoto?"

"I am, but there's one problem." Xenovia rubbed her arm nervously. "I'm unarmed, because I had to send Durandal back to the church because they just discovered a way to increase Durandal's offensive power, so I had to send it over for their alchemists to work with it."

"It may not be as powerful as Ascalon, much less Durandal, but you can use Solais." I offered my holy sword. Yes, Solais is a holy sword, well, it would be more accurate to say it's a sword imbued with light. Not divine light mind you, just light. So while it's not as effective against devils, it's cutting power and precision is like a laser.

"Thank you, I was just coming by here to head to the food cart, do you want anything?" Xenovia offered, and I thought for a moment before giving my answer.

"Something Sweet would be nice."

Xenovia then left, and I decided to discuss things with my peerage, namely, possible threats while we're in Yokai territory. Yozakura did some digging on her portable computer and somehow discovered that while the Yokai faction is territorial from time to time, they're usually quite laid back so long as you don't pose a viable threat to the territory. Hence why beings with immense power, like gods for example, can't really enter all that much. Yozakura checked all of our overall power to get an idea of who needs to be on the most guard, and amazingly, I am the least powerful person here, and Nico is the most powerful here. Of course, this is all coming down in overall power, like my devil power, Rossweisse's Valkyrie power, Sang's demigod power, and Yozakura's human(?) power.

"Hey (Y/N), I'm curious about this, but when are you going to add us into your peerage?" Sarah asked, and that was a valid question.

"You all proved yourself, but I'm waiting for the rest of the Major Arcana to arrive." I felt like being playful, so I decided to refer to them by their pre-assigned statuses. "The Wheel of Fortune is trying to get here from Greece, but he's having trouble finding a boat that will let him on. Temperance is having the same issue in Germany. The Emperor was saying bye to his wife, aunt, and father somewhere in Tubondo. The Star is having trouble convincing his boss to let him come here. The Moon and the Sun are both on their way in boats, but old boats their people use for the sake of tradition. The Judgement is finishing their business in Sweden, and the Death is gods know where."

"What about the Hermit and High Priestess?" Yozakura knew who I was talking about, since she was basically my right hand woman. She and I have the same kind of relationship as Rias and Akeno have, not in love, but partners.

"I haven't chosen the Hermit card yet, and the High Priestess still hasn't given me a response." I got nervous when it came to the High Priestess, she gave off a vibe that I didn't wish to mess with.

"MY STOMACH IS EMPTY AND MY MIND IS FULL OF BACON!" Nahele shouted, and we assumed he was hungry.

"Will someone tell that kid to shut up?!" Some random passenger shouted from across the train.

"I'LL RIP YOUR NIPPLES OFF AND MAKE GOGGLES WITH THEM!"

Luckily, before things could escalate further, the train stopped, and we were in Kyoto. All of us quickly got off the train before things could get out of hand. Rossweisse had to separate from our group and head over to where the students were, which consisted of Aika, Matsuhada, Motohama, Asia, Xenovia, Irina, and many more students I don't know. Paul, Nico, and Hanuman were already at the station by the time we arrived. I looked at my watch and noticed it was around noon, and the curfew for the students was around 5:00-5:30. I looked at Rossweisse, who had just finished talking to Azazel, who was here apparently. Rossweisse stepped in front of the group of students before taking a deep breath in and out.

"There is a one hundred yen store in the underground shopping center around here." Rossweisse gave a surprisingly decent speech on the subject of 100 yen stories. "If you need anything, please go there, you can never be too careful when it comes to money. If you have a hole in your pocket in your student years, you will become an unreliable adult. Always save your money, it's what will save the world. The 100 yen shop is a treasure that should never be underestimated."

"She's a good speaker." I pointed it out, and everyone agreed with me in this situation. I was about to walk away until I noticed something clinging to my foot. When I looked down at my foot, I noticed a toad with two scrolls strapped on it with a belt. "What on Earth?"

"I have marked the 100 yen stores on your maps with yen signs." Rossweisse continued talking to her students. "You're free to wander around until 5:30, where you all must return to the hotels to check in and get your rooms. Do I make myself clear?"

"Yes ma'am!" All the students shouted in sync while I picked up the road in question and looked at it.

"Is it Wednesday my dude?" Sarah asked while looking at the toad and I held it in one hand while I used the other to unravel the first scroll. "If not, why the hell is there a toad?"

"Oh yeah, while you pretty much cut yourself off from the rest of the world in your depression, various stages and magicians have been sending you instructions on various magic." Souri explained as I opened the first scroll, and it appeared to be frog-related magic, written in old Japanese. "Like the fact I got a spellbook from Merlin along with some staves. I think this scroll is from Jiraiya, the toad sage?"

"Jiraiya?" I remember Rias mentioning something about him before, something about him being a pervert.

"Not the guy from the anime, the guy from the anime is just based on the actual Jiraiya." Souri decided to clear that up right away. "He's also married to Tsunade, not the anime version either. Though their powers are similar, they're far from the same person."

"Maybe I can study a bit on this trip." I could be considered someone who like learning magic. Nowadays I'm not all that interested in it's destructive properties, but I like how it behaves. I find magic to be like art, and by that I mean anyone can make it, just some are better than others.

"(Y/N)!" Asia called out to me from her group, which consisted of Kiba, Xenovia, Kiba, and herself. "We're going to the Fushimi Inari, do you want to come with us?"

"Sure." I grabbed both of the scrolls and put them in my pocket so I can read them later. "Do you guys want to come with me?"

"I'm going to make sure Jiang doesn't get arrested..." Hua looked at his twin, who was pickpocketing one of the students from their wallets.

With that said, only Hanuman and Souri agreed to go with me, since they were curious. Though Hanuman had to wear a disguise consisting of baggy pants, a trench coat, sun glasses, a fedora, a mask, and boots. Like one would expect, he was building underneath all that and despised his disguise with a fiery passion. Still, it was a must because we were also going with Aika, Motohama, and Matsuhada, all of whom had no idea of the supernatural. It took some time, but soon, we reached the Fushimi Inari, and I instantly saw a path that was covered in nothing but Tori Gates and foliage. I was excited to travel the path, and I was left in awe when we finally began walking it. The humans of the group luckily didn't question my 'pet mouse' or the 'Uncle that was traveling with us', but they were getting tired easier than the rest of us. I was looking at the red Tori gates around us so much that I got distracted and ended up walking towards the top ahead of everyone else. I looked around me, and I realized that I was completely alone, I was so absorbed by the Tori that I went ahead of everyone.

"Nice job." Souri came out from my pocket that she was hiding in since we got here. "Where are we anyways?"

"We look to be at a shrine..." I examined our surroundings, and we were absolutely surrounded by trees and bushes, making it close to impossible for anyone to see anything in here.

The one thing here was a red Shinto shrine, I shrugged my shoulders and walked over to it. I clapped my hands and bowed before the shrine, I think that's how you're supposed to do it? Anyways, I thought for a moment of what my prayer should be about, so I decided I'll make it about the first thing that comes to mind.

"Please grant my friends safety in their future." I decided to go with something simple and short. I wasn't really too concerned with myself, since I'm more durable than most according to my allies.

"...Not from Kyoto?" A voice from behind me pointed out, and I turned around to meet this voice, and I saw a small girl with fox ears and a tail. This must be a Yokai. "Y-You, give me back my mother!"

(A/N: Ravioli ravioli, don't lewd the Fox loli)

"I'm afraid I don't follow." I couldn't understand what was going through this girl's head, nor did I know who her mother was. "If it will help, I can help look for your mother."

"I-I know who you are, I-Invader!" The small girl pointed her finger at me, and I suddenly picked up on several presences all around us. "Attack!"

"I apologize for this." I placed my hand on the ground and began charging up a bit of ice magic. "Ice Magic: Silver Bloom!" In the shape of a giant flower with me in the middle, ice spikes emerged from the ground to attempt to strike at anyone who got too close.

"I suppose now is as good a time as any to show off what I can do." Souri took to the air using her fairy wings, ready to fight.

I hope I don't kill anyone.

(A/N: Just to clear things up, no, Kunou is not going to be in the harem? Why is that? Well because she's way too young, like Koneko is the youngest we're going here. Why is one loli allowed while the other is not? Well that's because Koneko is just built like that. No I'm not saying a 2000 year old loli makes it okay to lewd, I'm just saying that we all grow at different rates. By the way, the death and judgement pieces will be changing because I'm indecisive AF.
