Chapter 56: So Issei has his own Show Now...and it's for Kids
(Your POV)
"Well this is...something."
"It's for the kids."
Everyone in the (L/N) household was on the couch, including Rias' peerage, Asger, Natalia, Dagda, Azazel, Miach, Yozakura, Tojuro, Sarah, myself, and Nico since she finally started living here. Sona had some paperwork she needed to take care of, and the leaders of the three factions needed to head back home. Back in the studio, Issei needed to go to a different studio to film something, and I guess this was it. It was a kind of music video with Issei's theme on it, and apparently the composer was Sirzechs, and the person who wrote the lyrics was Azazel. Though the lyrics were a little...odd in my opinion, they suited Issei by saying 'Oppai' every sentence.
"So Issei, how does it feel knowing all respect for you will fade away when they learn what the word 'oppai' means?" Natalia asked in a smug manner, while Issei hid in the corner of shame, which is usually Gasper's spot, except this time it's actually being used properly.
"Pretty terrible actually..." Issei was comically crying in the corner, and Natalia's smug expression increased in terms of smugness.
"I'm going to send this to my friends." Natalia began texting on her phone, and both Asger and I got texts from her, in response to this, both of us looked at her. "Let me have this, I don't have any friends."
"They also sent Issei this plastic toy version of the boosted gear." Dagda held up the supposed toy, but it looked so real I thought it was the real thing. "They even got Ddraig's voice, even though none of us can hear Ddraig's voice..."
Ignoring the figurative elephant in the room, the rest of us decided to watch the show in order to get an idea of how Issei is viewed in the underworld. Koneko sat on my lap wearing a white t-shirt with a cat's paw print over her heart, jean shorts, and cat-like socks. Koneko was eating a bar of chocolate she got from the fridge, and Rias sat on my side, while Irina sat on the other side. Rias was wearing a light purple, long sleeved shirt along with a maroon colored skirt that reached her ankles. Irina on the other hand was wearing a white t-shirt with jean overall shorts. To be honest, the show was rather overdramatic in my opinion, but I never really watched television as a kid, for the obvious reason that my biological mother hated television, and threw our TV into the ocean while she was raising me. Though one thing I find odd about the show is this character with the body of Dwayne Johnson and the head of a Seal. It didn't take a genius to realize that was me. "They got Issei, what was so hard about (Y/N)?" Kiba asked, and he examined me.
"Maybe it's because they couldn't find someone in the acting business with his build and height other than a golem." Issei shrugged. "That's not me acting, they just got some guy with the same build as me, added a wig, and made him look like me with CGI, and bam. Big screen material. I only played in the intro."
"Huh, that explains why the Issei in the actual show looks better than the Issei in the intro." Yozakura thought out loud, and Issei's head hung low.
"So does (Y/N) have his own show or something?" Asger wondered, and Koneko shook her head no. "Oh okay, I was just curious as to what kind of show it would be."
"Keeping up with the housewives of Hell, starring Venelana Gremory, Grayfia Gremory, and (Y/N) Soon to Be Gremory." Sarah stood up on the table with a lit sparkler in her hands. "Watch the daily lives of the housewives of the Gremory family Saturdays at 5."
"Don't go around changing people's names." Dagda sweatdropped. "Besides, it's gonna be Rias (L/N)."
"Guys, we already have our own book, do we really need a television series too?" Nico commented, and this is the first time any of us heard of a book. "Nico doesn't have the book, but Nico can't get it."
"What are you talking about?" Akeno questioned the Ultimate Secret Santa, who was sitting next to Kiba.
"Oh wait, Nico's not supposed to know this..." Nico then pulled a present out of her hat. "Who wants a deep fried Oreo?"
"I'm going to get diabetes just by looking at that, so no thank you." Irina declined the offer, and even Koneko didn't want it, only one person wanted it, and it was the same guy who'd eat anything.
"I'll take it." Dagda raised his giant hand, which quickly caught the present, which was thrown by Nico.
"You know, it feels weird seeing Issei get turned into a superhero like this." Irina commented, and now that she mentions it, she does have a point. "I mean, back when we used to be friends as kids, I know he was a big fan of some guy named the King, and I would follow him around to play superheroes with him."
"At some point, Issei told me he thought you were a guy, but I honestly can't see it." I pointed out my thoughts. "In my opinion, you're quite beautiful, so I'm curious as to how Issei made that mistake."
"Oh no, suddenly seducing me like that!" Irina stood up, and she had a blush on her face, and her wings appeared. "So you seduced the others like that? Such a frightening power, but my faith in Michael is stronger!" Irina's wings appeared to be flashing black and white, and my guess is that Irina will become a fallen angel at this pace. "I will...not...fall."
"I know you won't." I grabbed onto her hand, and a lime colored light started to radiate off my body, and Irina's wings stabilized to a pure white color. Irina looked at the wings in surprise. "You've devoted everything into becoming an angel, and if you can't do anything for fear of becoming a fallen angel, I'll remove those fears."
"Amazing...what did you do?" Irina looked at the wings in amazement, and I let the green dull away.
"It's a magic I like to call Hack, where I combine the Ultimate Programmer talent with magic, and it allows me to change the properties of magic items or people." I explained. "So I was able to reprogram your angelic power to be able to turn you into a fallen angel."
"Wait, can you use it to reprogram sacred gears?" Azazel asked, and I shook my head. "Worth a shot."
"To put it in layman's terms, using this magic is like unraveling a tangled mesh of various strings and choosing what string to remove, add, or move." I explained. "Sacred gears are like a mess of steel strings about the size of a building."
"Hey (Y/N), have you thought about who you're gonna add into your peerage?" Asger asked while flexing his arm comically. "Maybe your old man?"
"I don't want to put you or Natalia in danger, so I'm not recruiting either of you." I commented while making a couple envelopes appear from behind my head. "I've been getting envelopes from people like Ned Kelly, Lu Bu, Chang I Sao, Simo Hayha, Juana Ramirez, and William Wallace, so I think I'll recruit people who specialize in not just combat, but magic, medicine, knowledge, and economics."
"Wait, aren't some of those guys pretty recent?" Asger questioned, and he wasn't wrong, so Azazel decided to explain everything.
"You see, sometimes people are made into supernatural beings thanks to this thing called folk tales." Azazel explained to us. "They get much longer lifespans like devils and angels, but are still capable of dying. Like Heracles gained immortality this way, among other ways, but he died because he didn't know what a tank was. However some of the smarter ones faked their deaths to the humans and went into hiding."
"So folktales can turn people into immortals?" Asger thought out loud, and I guess it did make sense, the supernatural world may be old, but I have a feeling it became that way because of various sources, hence why gods can die. "(Y/N), I want you to tell great stories of me to my grandchildren."
"I'll try." I sweatdropped before looking at the envelopes. "I decided I will put everyone in certain categories based on abilities; Major Arcana represents the main fighting force, Cups represent people who can support everyone, Coins represent people who can make money, Wands for magic users, and Swords for warriors."
"Sounds complicated, but I like it." Dagda commented as we watched the rest of the show, and there was a scene where the actor playing Issei grabbed an actress with a large chest, then boosted to a higher level of power.
"Issei, you never touched anyone's chest, how do we know that actually works?" Akeno pointed out from her seat, and her attire consisted of a lavender shirt, black skirt, and her usual orange ribbon in her hair.
"I felt stronger when I used Dress Break on Xenovia's outfit." Issei commented, and in response, Xenovia glared at him, and it was clear she was still mad about that.
"Back on the subject of peerage, (Y/N) have you sent any letters to anyone?" Azazel asked, I nodded, and Azazel almost spat out his drink. "Who did you send the letters to?"
"I sent them to potential candidates for each card, except for the death and hermit cards, which I can't figure out just yet." I answered, and everyone looked shocked by this. "I'm going to judge them before adding them to my peerage, but I have a feeling they'll be good candidates. It'll also take some time for them to get here, so we have some time. I also sent letters to Coyote and Cernunnos, since both of them appear to be viable options."
"That's good to hear, you'd make a good leader." Natalia smirked a bit and continued watching the show. "You know, every time I hear Issei talk, I hear my brain cells committing suicide one by one."
"Hey!"
(Scene change, brought to you by Coyote trying to do paperwork with a pen in his mouth)
I was currently in the garage, welding some metal together in the form of a giant mech from pop culture. Where did I get all this metal? Well Ajuka provides me with whatever resources I need if it's for developing new tech and tools. Technically this one was for Seekvaira, but if I 100% complete it, it could be used to protect people. To ensure it isn't used for offense in the wrong hands, I plan on installing an automatic shut off once it goes beyond the protected territory. A massive humanoid figure hung on chains in a gymnasium-sized room that was partially underground, with the only exception to that rule being the metallic rolling door, which leads outside. I was finishing up a hand of the giant person, which was roughly the size of the lighthouse part of the house. So far, I can only get this mech to do basic motor movements, like walking. I finished welding the hand, and then I moved onto the engine I placed in the center of it's torso. I summoned my devil wings and used them to fly to the chest, allowing me to reach the small hatch that granted access to the engine. "Hey (Y/N), what are you doing?" I turned around and noticed Irina was walking into the garage, examining her surroundings. "I never would have guessed a high class devil like yourself likes to get their hands dirty with actually doing stuff?"
"I'm doing it because I can use it to protect people." I answered while checking the engine. "What about you? What is your opinion of these kinds of crafts? Do you like them?"
"I've never welded anything before, but it looks pretty cool that you're able to use scrap metal like this." Irina examined the massive machine before her. "So why did you build this thing, it must have taken a long time?"
"It did, but magic makes it easier." I used my devil wings to fly back down towards the ground, where Irina was. "Is there something you need?"
"Not really, all the girls in the living room are talking about devil politics and training regimens." Irina answered while she examined the equipment in the room. "I wanted to get to know you better, so what do you like doing?"
"I guess I like collecting keychains and I like flowers?" I hoped this answer would be sufficient, since it's coming from me, it might not be. "They're pretty boring, I know, but flowers are pretty."
"You honestly don't look like the type to be into flowers, but why don't you grow a garden?" Irina asked, and I shrugged.
"I'm scared that I might be too busy to take care of it, and all the flowers would die." I explained while I checked my phone, and noticed that tomorrow was the convention Seekvaira would be attending, and a couple days after that would be my date with Akeno. "Hey Irina, I need advice for something, if you have the time to help me."
"Sure thing." Irina pointed out, and I explained to her the bath house incident that happened in hell, and how Akeno agreed to go on a date to try making up for pushing my embarrassment to the edge. "So you need advice on dating?"
"Yes, I need advice on what you think she'll like." I tried explaining my situation. "My social skills leave much to be desired, and I spoke like an old fashioned samurai until long ago. I also can't read the room, so I'm hoping you could at least give me a basic idea as to what to look for."
"Akeno and I are pretty different from one another, not just appearance wise, but I suppose I'll try and help." Judging from how hard she was thinking, Irina appeared to be having trouble as well. "Make sure she's having a good time...? Maybe take her to her favorite restaurant or a restaurant you think she'd like?"
"Sounds okay with me." I had no better ideas, so I decided to go with Irina's advice.
With none of us having an idea on how to resume the conversation, we began looking around the area, trying to find some way to ease the awkwardness around us. I looked at my new limbs, and the hand of Tyr completely adapted to my body, and it looked exactly like my old hand. As for my arm, and leg, it was slowly being adapted, currently, my skin tone reached the elbow and knee of each respective limb, but I'm not sure how long it would take the eye. "Hey Irina, how does my new eye look?"
"Oh hey, the white parts are coming back, it's just your iris that's going to need a little more time." Irina pointed out, and she sounded kind of glad. "I didn't want to sound rude or anything, but your weird body parts were kind of weirding me out. It was like looking at Frankenstein's Monster."
"I actually got a request from him." I handed her the letter in question, much to her surprise, his handwriting was neat, and almost written like a small girl. "Yes, that is his handwriting."
"I never would have guessed that Frankenstein's Monster wrote hearts over his I's." Irina pointed out, and I thought to myself, why are 80% of the letters I receive either from folk heroes or characters from fairy tales? "By the way, why are you building this giant robot in the first place?"
"There's a convention tomorrow, and I offered a friend of mine that I would build a mech for it." I answered, and I examined the mech, it looked to be done in a reasonable fashion. "Issei also wanted me to pick up some manga, since he'll be at school tomorrow."
"Why is Issei going to school while you're going to a convention?" Irina questioned as I noticed a slightly crack in the metallic boot, so I crouched in front of it.
"Issei needs to go to school tomorrow to plan for a trip to Kyoto the second year students go on." I answered while turning my finger into a black electrode and covering my eyes with a special helmet for welding. "Turn around for a moment, I need to weld something."
"Oh yeah, I heard it is that time of year again." Irina must know that high school second years go on field trips around this time of year. "Say, you usually go in groups of four right, did you go last year?"
"Yeah, my group was Onihime, Ayako, Nico, and myself hence why I trust them so much." I answered as I continued welding the metal back in place. "Unohanna and Kankuro often hung out with us on the trip due to a lack of members."
"Not to be mean or anything, but I think you should go with them." Irina commented, and I agreed. "Wait what? I thought you were going to say something like: 'Issei is fine, he can handle himself'. Or something like that."
"I have a gut feeling something will happen, so I'll just go to keep an eye on him and the others." I replied as I finished welding. "Yozakura can pretend to be me because her disguises are flawless, she even managed to stay in hell for the entire summer using nothing but disguises."
"If you don't recruit her, I will." Irina jokes a bit with a light giggle. "So have you thought about adding me to your peerage by any chance?"
"Time will tell, but you are strong, so I might add you." I answered while I stepped back to examine the robot. "Looks like my mech is done."
"Is that...?"
"I don't know who it is, I just looked up mechs online and chose my favorite."
(A/N: You know, I was rewatching Yona of the Dawn with a friend of mine, and as we watched it, I noticed how two of the characters could pass off as (Y/N) kids with Rossweisse and Xenovia respectively. So you wanna know what I did? I made a list of anime characters who could be his kids. Keep in mind this is an incomplete list, so don't throw tomatoes at me. Also, if you have a different idea, let me know. I won't make an actual series about (Y/N)'s kids, so it's just a fun little concept I'm toying with. But if I do end up writing something about the kids, it's probably be like DXD EX. With some changes in it to make it original. Like (Y/N) would actually be a good father, unlike Issei who was "too busy", and try to play a big role in his kid's lives. Plus at that point, no one would want to piss him off, so everyone would let him do what he wants.
(Y/N)+Rias=Miku (Quintessential Quintuplets): In all honesty, their child could have been any of the quintuplets, but Miku and (Y/N) are the most similar to one another. Inheriting her looks from her mother, Miku inherits her quiet and observational nature from her father.
(Y/N)+Akeno=Shinobu (Demon Slayer): Shinobu would take more after her mother, in both looks and personality wise, but deep down she's like her father, not the kind of person you'd wanna f with. Like her father, she has great control over her temper and is rather smart.
(Y/N)+Koneko=Vanilla (Nekopara): It'd be hard to tell who Vanilla takes after in a personality sense, since both Koneko and (Y/N) are similar in a personality sense.
(Y/N)+Asia=Iris (Fire Force): Iris is another child that takes strongly after her mother, but she can be like her father at times too. She despises being a burden, and works hard to help people.
(Y/N)+Xenovia=Sinha (Yona of the Dawn): Another person who I can't tell who he takes after. Sinha is a swordsman like his mother, but tends to have an inferiority complex like his father. He's not a picky eater like his mother, but doesn't talk much thanks to his father's genesis.
(Y/N)+Irina=Sora (Kingdom Hearts): It's clear that this kid takes after his mother, both personality wise and powers included. However, he's still like his father and tends to wear his heart on his sleeve.
(Y/N)+Ravel= Juliet Persia (Boarding School Juliet): Aside from her looks, she doesn't inherit much from her mother, but inherits a bunch of traits from her father. She's stubborn, determined, and not hesitant to throw hands with someone.
(Y/N)+Rossweisse= Kija (Yona of the Dawn) The combination of these two cinnamon rolls gets Kija, who is the heir to a cinnamon roll energy that should be illegal. He's helpful to a fault, determined to do his best (and doing it really well), and similar to both his mother and father in a lot of ways. Plus all three of them are strong as hell.
(Y/N)+Sona= Ray (The Promised Neverland): Ray didn't inherit much from his father, but he inherited his appearance and intellect from his mother without question. The one trait he inherited from his father is that he's loyal to a fault when it comes to someone he deeply cares about.
(Y/N)+Tsubaki= Tamaki Amajiki (BNHA): Other than his mother's appearance, Tamaki didn't get much from his mother. Personality wise, he's 100% his father's son, and even acts like (Y/N) used to. He'd often hide behind his siblings when talking.
(Y/N)+Serafall= Ako Tamaki (And You Thought You Never Met a Girl Online): Another case of the mom genes taking over everything, but like her father, she can be an airhead. All of the siblings agree that they need to keep an eye on her.
(Y/N)+Kuroka= Blake (RWBY): In terms of appearance, Kuroka wins, but personality, (Y/N) wins clear out of the water. Blake is one of the only children who considered her father's fighting style of stealth and firearms.
