Chapter 54: Dog vs Dragon

(Your POV)
Issei attempted to strike me, but I ducked underneath his swing, and then I tried striking him, but my spear's blade was deflected by the armor. I figured this would be the case, so I decided to hold nothing back. I created a barrier to block Issei's tail that tried piercing me, then I activated a function on Junkyard Dog, and that function summoned chainsaw blades along the edges, then the blades began spinning at high speeds. The blades were suddenly coated in plasma, thanks to Huitzotlpcohli's power I infused into it, and I tried using the blades to at least damage some of Issei's armor around his heart area, and when I used the blades on his armor, I saw that I managed to create a small scratch on it. I highlighted the mark as his weak point using my mask, and while that may not be accurate, it's better than nothing.

"(Y/N) Original: Devil's Price." I used the blade of Gae Bulg to cut my wrist, and when the blood touched the blade, it turned the blade a crimson color.

I dodged a kick from Issei before slashing Issei's chest, and I managed to jab at the chest, but my spear only created a crack that was the size of a fingernail, and it's width wouldn't even let paper through. I ducked underneath another punch and rapidly spun my spear to try to damage his arm. When my blade struck the arm, another crack appeared, this one being slightly smaller than the last one. I then delivered an uppercut with the shield arm aimed towards Issei's hand, trying to cripple his hand. However, he managed to catch the shield despite the fact it was spinning. I attempted a roundhouse kick at the head despite the fact that my arm was caught, and I enhanced my kick using steam that shot out of my heel. The kick alone managed to stagger Issei for a bit, but honestly didn't do much, I didn't see so much as a dent. Good news was that he let go of Junkyard Dog. What makes this situation even worse is the fact that Devil's Price enhances the cutting properties of Gae Bulg further, almost on par with Rias' power of destruction. I jumped up to avoid Issei's kick and used River Song to enchant my blade with water, which gets stronger the more I swing. I began spinning Gae Bulg with one hand to strike Issei in the head, but I only caused a small crack in his armor. Issei's eyes glowed red, and I used Fog Horn to envelop the area in mist, allowing me to teleport behind him. I could see that fighting against Issei in a head to head battle like this, so I placed one hand on the ground and another in the air. A Druidic magic circle appeared below the hand on the ground, and Jormungandr's magic circle appeared on the other.

"Create the Depths; Doggerland." This was a combination spell, combining my druidry aoe magic with Create the Depths, I got this game changer.

A vast array of trees, bushes, and other plants emerged from the ground around me, creating thick cover all around me, and my affected area should be at 5 kilometers in radius, or roughly 2.5 miles. The tree ranged from oak, to redwoods, and even a couple coconut trees. The bushes were just as diverse, some being filled with thorns, and other having soft leaves to act as cover. Above us, a silhouette of Jormungandr looked over the battle area as ethereal fish of all colors appeared around us. The pressure was light because I only had it at Sunlight Zone, meaning it wasn't as dark, and the fish around us were the kind you'd see around coral reefs or close to the ocean. I learned to have better control over my Create the Depths spell by separating it into different zones, each zone being darker and having more pressure than the last. They also take on properties of the zones they're named after, like the pressure around us will increase to match the pressure of that respective zone, and the fish will become more mythical/dangerous the deeper I go. Good news was that these only affected the people, and weapons aren't affected by this, but they did fall slower.

I used this as an opportunity to get into cover, but not before summoning three landlines in my previous position. I also put Gae Bulg on my back and deactivated Junkyard Dog. Issei stepped back and landed on the landmines just as I entered the tree line, and I could tell Issei was going to have trouble moving. Issei stepped into one of the bushes, and the thorned branches instantly seeped through the armor to strike at the core. While they didn't do much damage, they did make Issei's movements limited and painful, plus they let a roar out as a reaction. I stopped running until I was high above on a redwood branch at least 200 meters away from Issei. I summoned my M82 and began thinking of a plan. If I fire this gun, Issei will most likely come charging towards me in retaliation, so I decided I should leave a small surprise for him. I bit my thumb and used the blood to create a small circle on the main part of the tree. I aimed my gun at the dragon and infused the bullet with wind magic, causing the bullet to have all the power of a typhoon condensed into a single point. I fired the bullet, causing a massive boom sound, and Issei found out my position right away. Unfortunately, my aim was off, and I struck a small part of the shoulder, but I did manage to chip the armor with my shot. Issei boosted his power into his legs and leaped towards me with his claws ready to kill. Keep in mind Create the Depths prevents flight, but people can swim instead or jump if they please. I placed a hand on the circle to summon the Phantom of Rage again, causing it to appear in the same fashion from earlier. The phantom of rage feeds on rage, and given how Issei was going berserk, it should come to no one's surprise that the phantom is stronger compared to my fight against the rooks.

I swung behind the tree and out of Issei's sight, allowing me to teleport on the other side of the forest, this time in an apple tree lower than the redwood tree. I aimed my sniper rifle once again, this time I was going to aim for one of his arms so he won't be as dangerous to take on in head to head combat. I infused the bullet with mist magic, which ignores armor and gives my opponent frostbite no matter what they wear. I aimed my gun and waited until Issei delivered an uppercut to my phantom, leaving his arm exposed to an attack from behind. I fired the bullet, hitting Issei's arm dead on, but not getting anything of a reaction. Meaning that the armor is the source of these movements, not the main body. Issei shot several lasers at me from the green gems, but I pulled out Gae Bulg and used Friends with the Enemy to send them back at Issei, all without a scratch on him or his armor. To make things even more amusing, I used a spell known as "Ice Mirror" to create an ice mirror that reflects all energy based attacks. I left the ice mirror as a substitute before teleporting once again. I teleported myself on the ground 700 meters away from Issei's current position, and I chose the ground because I was planning on doing something different.

"Steampunk Inventions #1: Seal Cannon." I summoned a bronze colored magic circle that consisted of a gear-like design, and from the magic circle, a massive cannon appeared.

The cannon was made mostly of bronze, and had a Steampunk design, including gears and chimneys to let steam out. The reason I called it 'seal cannon' is because it is some A-tier branding. The canon was already loaded with a single cannonball, so I pulled the lever on the side of it, and it began charging up the shot. I aimed it at Issei before appearing behind Issei with a double barrel shotgun aimed at his arm, I infused the bullets with earth magic, which did make the bullets heavier, but at this distance, it didn't matter. The bullets hit Issei's arm dead on, and it was like getting hit with several mortar shots point blank, but despite that, only small cracks appeared in his armor. It was still better than what little damage I did earlier, but the large cracks weren't showing me any skin I could inject the needle into. Issei noticed me and delivered a punch to my face, and while I did block it, Issei summoned a blade in a green gem close to his hand, which managed to get past my defenses and stabbed my left eye before I could react to It. I could no longer see out of my left eye, so I let myself fall to the ground.

The moment I hit the tree line, I disappeared 700 meters away from Issei. I put pressure on my eye to stop the bleeding, and I used my threads to seal my eye shut to stop the bleeding. I also heard the cannon's thunderous boom, and I saw that Issei was knocked out of the sky. I decided to focus on my eye, since he's been going after my cannon. If I had my blessing, this could be healed right away, but my healing abilities are limited now. Plus that rook has my first aid kit, and is most likely using it to help her peerage out, so I'm not going to take it when she's using it. Even if I did use it, the healing properties only accelerate natural healing, and humans can't regrow eyes. I did what I could, and just decided I will be without an eye for the rest of my life. Good news was that I didn't need to close an eye anymore when I aimed. I used my M82 to aim at Issei, who was barely scathed even by the cannon ball. Issei was looking around for me, when all of a sudden, I noticed his eyes landed on me. I was about to use magic to escape, but then Issei's wings began flowing like Vali's, and I could feel my magic power run almost completely dry, and certainly not enough to teleport. Still, I was not the kind of man to back down, so I fired a single, non-magical bullet at Issei's chest, which I marked as the weak point, where the bullet got stuck. Issei's mouth opened, a crimson laser came at me, and if it wasn't as precise as before, it was like a freight train coming at me at lightspeed. I tried blocking it with a barrier, but this raw power destroyed my barriers after a couple seconds. I barely managed to dodge the attack, but I lost my right arm in the process, along with my M82. I clutched the injury and hid behind a tree, I had my spear and shotgun, but I have to choose, since dual wielding is out of the question now with my arm missing. I would have tried reflecting it earlier, but I can't reflect raw power of that size. Good news though, Genbu's other gauntlet looks unscathed.

"Damnit, looks like I won't be able to keep my promise with Rias." I thought back to all the memories I've shared with everyone, and I smiled a bit. "Rias, Akeno, Asia, Koneko, Kiba, Gasper, Irina, Xenovia, Sona, Tsubaki, Ravel, Seekvaira, Rossweisse, Dagda, Natalia, Father, Azazel, Michael, Grayfia, Sirzechs, Zeoticus, Venelana, Milicas, and Issei...Thank you all, for allowing me to meet all of you."

I decided to go with my Gae Bulg and summoned a small object in my pocket, then I charged at Issei. This was effectively suicide, but I have an idea as to how to save Issei. Issei shot several lasers from the green gems all over his body, and I reflected all of them by using Friends with the Enemy, and I pulled Junkyard Dog back out, this time to use as a shield. I had both shield and spear in one hand, and I was genuinely trying here. I closed the distance between Issei and I to begin close quarters combat against him. Issei tried using his claws to slash at me, but I ducked to avoid them so I could pierce at Issei's chest, where the bullet was stuck at. The more I pressured the bullet wound, the more the armor cracked. I jumped back to avoid a swipe from Issei's leg, but his tail managed to cut off my right leg, and I was starting to slow down. I had to balance on Gae Bulg and my left leg. I ducked underneath another swing and finally pierced at Issei's chest, and finally, the chest plate cracked just enough for me to see a part of Issei's uniform. I used this moment as an opportunity to pull out the syringe full of neon blue liquid from my pocket, then I jabbed it at Issei's exposed chest, stabbing him before finally injecting the poison, but just before the juggernaut drive was deactivated, a blade appeared from Issei's arm and cut off my remaining hand, leaving my a stump the wrist. As if that wasn't enough, his tail stabbed right through my stomach, causing me to cough up blood. The armor began crumbling as cracks appeared all over it, and an unconscious Issei could be seen until all the armor finally crumbled apart, Issei almost fell onto the ground, but I caught him just in time.

"I guess the dog wins." I used Issei as a kind of balance while I wrapped my left arm around him, and carrying an unconscious person without hands and one leg was pretty hard, so I grabbed Gae Bulg with my teeth and angled my head so I could balance on it too.

Despite all the obstacles I created, none of them seemed to weigh me down, in fact, they seemed to part out of my way to ensure a safe journey. I deactivated my Create the Depths spell as a kind of signal that the fight was done, and deep down, I was hoping that someone would help me carry Issei. I'm still unsure of the side effects of the poison, and it could potentially be dangerous, so I should get him to a doctor as soon as possible. When I think about it, I could use a Doctor as well. My body has been torn to bits, and it's nothing less than a miracle that I'm still able to stand. I would use my threads to reattach everything, but those take up magic energy, and I have none left. My walking was uneven, and I almost collapsed several times. Eventually, my leg gave out on me, and I fell along with the unconscious Issei. I placed what was left of my left arm under him so he won't be face planted in the dirt. As for me, my entire front half was on the ground, and I tried getting up, but it was surprisingly difficult. "You know, Rias is gonna be pissed with you when she sees you, and everyone else is going to be mortified." I was pushed one my back by a talking Crow. "Good news though, you kept your promise, you're going to live."

"You think so?" I asked in a rough tone, and the crow nodded before placing his wings over my eyes.

"You get some rest, you've done enough, I'll take care of you and Issei." The crow promised, and I closed my eyes.

(Crow POV)

Well this was a mistake.

"You saw (Y/N) get hurt and you didn't do anything?!" Rias, like anyone would have guessed, was pissed beyond all belief, and she was crying while she strangled me.

"What was I supposed to do?" I coughed out while Asia tried healing (Y/N)'s injuries, but no luck. "I'm a bird!"

"FuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckFUCK!" The resident arsonist of the group, Sarah, was panicking.

I carried (Y/N) back to the ground since I was only able to carry one person at a time, and before I could grab Issei, Rias began shooting magic orbs of destruction at me. Dagda, Coyote, and Cernunnos showed up without Rossweisse. When I asked them where a Rossweisse was, since I shipped her with (Y/N), they told me that they didn't want to make Rossweisse cry by seeing the (Y/N) kid in his current state. Good news was that they brought Miach, some doctor who was dragging a travel bag. "I'm starting to regret removing his immortality." Miach commented while his eyes landed on Akeno who was holding in her tears, Asia who was a crying mess, Koneko was crying just not a mess, and Xenovia who had tears dripping out of her eyes. "Lucky for us, some gods saw (Y/N)'s interview at the studio, and decided to...donate some things." Miach opened the travel bag, and I saw it was filled to the brim with different horns, organs, teeth, bones, limbs, and even some bags with flesh in them. "These are the remains of powerful beings the gods have killed or parts they lost in the past, like how Odin lost his eye."

"What does that have to do with anything?" Dagda asked while he dropped Issei, since he went into the forest earlier to grab him.

"I repair limbs with resources, and depending on how good the resources are, I can make them stronger than before." Miach answered while crouching over (Y/N)'s body. "So girls, you all need to chill."

"Yup, still as oblivious to emotions as ever." Dagda commented while Rias still strangled me. "Hey, Rias, I understand you're worried about (Y/N), but think about what he was thinking. He went in alone because he knew he was the only person who could do it, and he's the only person with stealth abilities, everyone else has powers that would make them easy targets, plus he specializes in this kind of combat."

"He's right, (Y/N) was the only person who could have come out of this alive, the rest of us would have just gotten in the way." Kiba was sitting on the ground with his arms crossed, and I can tell he was mad, not at Issei but at himself for being weak.

"S-So is (Y/N) going to b-be okay?" Asia asked Miach, who was crouched on the other side of (Y/N)'s body of her.

"Of course he will be fine, (Y/N) is one of the most stubborn individuals I've ever met, he won't die like this." Miach commented, and it was quite rare to see him compliment anyone. "The new limbs will take some time to adapt, but he will be fine."

"After he's repaired, do you think that the stone will work?" Dagda asked, and I had no idea what was going on. "I've wanted the stone to test (Y/N) at some point, hence why I brought it."

"His body will be whole by the time I finish, so he should meet all the requirements for certain but one." Miach answered, and he appeared to know what he was talking about. "If (Y/N) gets judged, he will be judged by his heart and soul. Nothing else."

"Why did you all help him?" Akeno wasn't letting her rage seep out like Rias was, but I can tell she was pissed.

"We couldn't get here in time...I'm sorry." Cernunnos, whose eyes were both their regular emerald green color now, bowed in an apologetic manner. "Crow here couldn't have helped even if he wanted, his only magical ability is the power to shapeshift into a human and talk."

"You know, I'm starting to see what makes that juggernaut drive such a big deal." I flew out of Rias' grip, which is stronger than she would have you believe. "It's a form designed to surpass God and Satan, yet (Y/N), the Sealboi, managed to defeat it."

"That's because he's never really cared about what's impossible or not." Rias looked at the unconscious body of (Y/N) with a worried look in her eyes. "Even if doing the impossible ends up hurting him."

"That's what pulled us to him in the first place." Coyote smirked a bit while sitting next to Miach like a dog. "It's rare to find a human who tries to defy the will of destiny, and people like us need to stick together, causing destiny is a ho."

"You're all staying?" Xenovia asked, and Cernunnos, Coyote, and I nodded to show that we were. "What about Rossweisse?"

"I'm arranging things with Odin...so Rossweisse can be with (Y/N)..." Cernunnos was divided, his god side wanted a Rossweisse x (Y/N) story while his Satan side wanted Rias x (Y/N), but both sides want (Y/N) to go with whoever makes him happy.

"Well, I need a drink, I'm going home."

(A/N: Let's just get this out of the way right now; (Y/N) only won the fight using guerilla warfare, and the last moment was an exception because he ran out of magic and bullets. If it was purely a head to head battle, Issei would have won. I also used DnD dice for this fight to make it fair, more specifically a D20 and D6 (For Sealboi). In case you all were wondering, (Y/N) rolled pretty dang low. Like it was a streak of Nat 1's, and Issei rolled way higher. In conclusion; I'm using Issei's dice next time I play Dungeons and Dragons.
