Chapter 25: The Meeting of the Three Factions
(Your POV)
We arrived in the room to see Sirzechs, Serafall, Micheal, and Azazel all sitting at a round table, facing each other while Grayfia, Sona, and Tsubaki overlooked the proceedings. I looked out the window and saw a barrier was out, and outside the barrier was a large group of fallen angels, angels, and devils. To be honest, I was nervous from the vibe this meeting was giving off, even I was starting to get scared. I stood between Rias and Akeno as we entered the conference room, and Rias must have noticed my nervousness. Since I felt nervous, I appeared to give off a murderous aura until Rias wrapped her hand around mine, and I got confused.
"Rias, is everything okay?" I asked, and the king nodded in response, but that didn't explain why she needed to hold my hand.
"I noticed you looked nervous, so I wanted to help you out." Rias informed me as the meeting officially started, and the vibe got infinitely more serious, like one wrong move could result in disastrous consequences.
"My my, look at you two getting romantic." Akeno teased with a slight grin, and in response, Rias held my hand tighter. "Now I'm starting to feel like a third wheel."
"I just happen to be nervous is all." Rias answered before Sirzechs introduced us to the rest of the group.
"Everyone, these are the peerages of Rias Gremory, my sister, and Issei Hyoudou, the Red Dragon Emperor." Sirzechs introduced us to the group, and everyone's eyes were on us. "They ran into Kokabiel, and even managed to kill him thanks to the combined efforts of (Y/N), Issei, and Rias."
"Sorry about all of that, Kokabiel has always been on the rebellious side and a thorn in my side for a while." Azazel apologized in a nonchalant manner. "I'm kind of glad you two managed to take care of him before Vali here had to step in."
"You can have a seat." Sirzechs pointed to the chairs behind him, and we all sat there, with me sitting between Asia and Rias.
The meeting went on, and given the previous encounters with fallen angels, I would have assumed Azazel was gonna pull something, but he didn't. I expected them to at least shout, but they remained surprisingly calm throughout the entire ordeal. I looked around and saw that Vali was leaning up against the wall behind Azazel, an unknown angel stood behind Micheal, and Sona stood behind Serafall. We didn't really do much until Rias was called up to explain what happened with Kokabiel. Rias let go of my hand and stood up.
"To oversimplify the events, it was Issei and (Y/N) who did most of the work." Rias explained. "(Y/N) cast a spell known as 'Call the Depths', which should have crushed him since he was focusing all the pressure that should have been on us onto himself. His healing abilities enhanced his body enough to keep up with Issei, who was in his Scale Mail state. (Y/N) held Kokabiel in place while I finished him off. Then Vali showed up."
"Thank you Rias." Sirzechs thanked his sister as Rias sat down next to me, and grabbed my hand almost instantly after she sat down. "Azazel, as the governor of the fallen angels, do you have anything to say about this?"
"Kokabiel did not act in the best interest of all fallen angels, in fact, it's likely he went against our interests for his own." Azazel rubbed the back of his neck to this. "I would have punished him, but unfortunately, the guy's dead now, so I can't really ask anything."
Maybe I should learn to tone back the murder, I feel as though I made Azazel's life harder.
"What about your opinions on Kokabiel's actions as a fallen angel?" Micheal asked, and Azazel chuckled nervously.
"Personally speaking, I wasn't a fan of Kokabiel's tactics." Azazel seemed to be telling the truth, but I was no expert when it came to reading people. "While I do like sacred gears, I'm not a fan of wars."
"Speaking of sacred gears, why are you collecting so many sacred gear users?" Micheal asked, and Azazel actually looked interested in this. "We've been on high alert, expecting you to attack, but nothing ever came."
"Micheal is right, when we heard you were amassing a large group of sacred gear users, especially the vanishing dragon, we all assumed that you were either going to attack heaven or hell." Serafall pointed, and she now radiated a completely different aura than from earlier.
"Jeez, I told you guys, I just like researching sacred gears." Azazel defended himself. "I personally like the world as it is right now, and I even told my lackeys not to get involved with human politics. It's like I'm the least trusted person here."
"You're not exactly wrong..."
"Wow, if anyone, I think Sirzechs should be most suspicious." Azazel pointed out. "Think about it, there's a talented course full of Ultimates, or Super Highschool Level Students in this very school, and no one's saying anything about it."
"I just wanted to help them with their talents." Sirzechs justified, but Azazel didn't look too convinced. "What are you implying?"
"Need I remind you that only fifteen of these students managed to bring the entirety of Japan to its knees, and only one of them had a talent related to violence." Azazel gave us a brief history lesson. "And you're hosting 48 of them in this very school."
"None of them know about us supernatural beings, and they're still human." Serafall reminded him, and Azazel just pointed at her.
"She said it herself, these guys are all human." Azazel pointed out before focusing on me. "Hell, (Y/N) was able to keep up when he first became a devil, and is now one of the most dangerous people here after only a month. Now I ask you, what would happen if we had 48 of those kinds of people? I doubt even the three factions could finish them off, and they might even be able to rival all the Longinus users in the world."
"Azazel is right, in order to keep balance, we must ensure that these students never decide to rebel." Micheal pointed out, and I felt all eyes on me. "(Y/N)'s regenerative abilities alone can rival even the top hundred in the world, so if there's forty seven more people like him who excel at different things, they could possibly become the most powerful organization known to the world."
"That's not even mentioning that if they become supernatural beings and start combining their talents with magic." Azazel unintentionally gave me an idea, lately I've been separating my skills and magic, but what would happen if I combined them. "Sirzechs, what makes you so sure these students won't decide to revolt?"
"I'll take care of them personally, and I will accept any punishment either of you see fit should a single one of them decide to revolt against the three factions." Sirzechs then decided to change the subject to peace talks as I turned my face to Rias.
"Lady Rias, do you think it's possible for me to combine skills and magic to create a new kind of magic?" I asked Rias as I leaned close to her face so she could hear me better, and I think this is the first time I've taken time to notice how beautiful she is.
"Most likely, like if you use your field of science, then you can use that as a basis for creating a spell that closely involves whatever that study may be." Rias whispered back and due to my closeness to her, I managed to catch a light scent of roses, kind of fitting if you ask me.
"Let's make peace." Azazel started as Rias and I focused our attention back onto the scene before us. It felt as though history was being made right in front of us. "That's what we all came here to do, right?"
"Indeed, we have all lost some important people." Micheal pointed out as he looked at us through the corner of his eye. "Us angels have lost god, the devils have lost Lucifer, and the fallen angels have the most casualties out of the three of us. It would be best if we didn't fight for the sake of humanity."
"Mutually assured destruction?" Sirzechs thought out loud, and this is starting to sound like a Cold War reenactment. "We agree, us devils must look to the future of our kind."
"Glad to see you guys agree." Azazel appeared to have noticed Asia's slightly down expression. "You guys really think that living in a world without god is a bad thing? Sorry but you're wrong, we're still here and the world's still moving, so we gotta do what we can to protect it."
"Now with such important matters out of the way, I noticed that the Red Dragon Emperor has something to say, so Mr.Hyoudou, if you would." Micheal asked as Issei stood up from his spot next to Kiba.
"Micheal, I've always wondered something." Issei's question sounded serious and genuine, a rare trait to see him possess. "Asia believed in god with all her heart, yet she was kicked out of the church for healing a devil, what's up with that?"
"To that, I offer my sincerest apologies." Micheal stood up from his chair. "The number of people that could be offered salvation is limited, so we tend to separate people who could negatively affect the church. Asia's Twilight Healing could negatively affect the beliefs of those around her by making people think that devils deserve salvation since her sacred gear was a blessing of god."
"That's nonsense..." I stood up from my chair, and I don't know why, but I felt pissed. "The church, the only thing Asia ever knew to love, kicked her out because she's a kind soul, no one should be punished for being kind. She almost died if I hadn't saved her, the least you could do was save her from the fallen angels that Azazel couldn't control."
"While it is true us fallen angels killed some sacred gear users, I made sure they targeted ones who were unable to control them." Azazel justified, and I feel as though there were many options other than just that."
"Wait, so you're saying I have horrible control over my sacred gear?" Issei asked, slightly insulted, and Azazel nodded. "I respect your honesty, but damn."
"Okay then, as the red dragon emperor, what do you want?" Azazel asked before gesturing to Vali. "Like Vali wants to fight strong people, what do you want to do? Same with you (Y/N), since you're becoming stronger for seemingly no reason. If neither of you make a clear decision, then you'll be making people suspect that you'd want another war."
"I thought I made it abundantly clear I just wanna protect everyone, do I need to write it on my shirt to prove it?" I asked as Azazel put my hand on my shoulder.
"Yeah but that could be translated as you wanting to kill all the people who would hurt those close to you and start a war." Azazel informed me, and he agreed that politics like this is stupid. "So let me be clear, if a war does break out, then you'd be placed on the front lines and away from the girls you like. On the other hand, if there's no war, then the propagation of your species becomes top priority, and that means sex with your harem."
"S-Sex?!" Due to my lack of social interactions until recently, anything involving me and another person getting intimate in any way would make me get embarrassed because I don't know how to act. "They should only do that with someone they actually love, and besides, I don't know what a harem even is."
"But we do love you." Akeno pointed out, and almost instantly her mouth was covered by Rias and Asia.
"Thanks, but reconsider." I thanked the girls for feeling this way, andI began to wonder if their feelings for me were only temporary, yeah, that must be it.
"You're a weird one, you know that?"
Out of nowhere, I suddenly got the overwhelming sense of magic, and I flinched a bit and looked around me to see that Akeno, Koneko, Asia, and Sona were frozen in place as Issei needed Kiba's support for something. I had no idea what happened until I remembered the feeling when I was frozen in time, it felt exactly like this one, and I realized that Gasper was back at the clubroom, alone and undefended.
"What's going on?" I remained calm and looked out a nearby window to see several hundred cloaked figures standing below us. "Are we under attack by them or something?"
"Not Everyone is for the peace talks, so some were undoubtedly going to rebel." Sirzechs joined me, looking out the window. "Looks like a group of wizards are out there, odd."
"They managed to freeze everything in place using Gasper's sacred gear against us." Rias informed me, and I was beyond pissed by this, Gasper should not be taken advantage of. "I can teleport back to the school house using castling, but it's a bad idea for me to go alone."
"You go in there with Issei and make sure Gasper drinks Issei's blood, Azazel claims that the blood of the red dragon emperor could help with Gasper's power control issue." I dropped my school bag on the table, causing multiple metallic parts to spill out. "I'll create a distraction to allow you and Issei to go in with minimal detection."
"A tactician and a massive build, he's turning out to be quite the catch for you devils." Azazel chuckled as I began putting the pieces together as high speeds. "Say, what on Earth are you doing, even an ultimate like you can't take on all those guys."
"I've been studying the talents of all fifteen of my classmates, and I can likely perform all of them in a slightly below average fashion." I put the final ice together to reveal an assault rifle. "I have not tried it yet, but I theorize I can combine some of them with magic to increase their effectiveness."
"Look kid, I understand you're confident in your strength and all, but I doubt even you can take them all on." I slung the assault rifle over my shoulder and looked out the room. "If it'll help, I'll send Vali to help you out, say, how good is your magic control?"
"Absolutely garbage." I answered bluntly, and Azazel looked surprised. "Any tips you have will be useful."
"Alright, any sciences in that toolkit of skills ya got?" Azazel asked, and I told him I'm studying neurology. "Alright, try to place your palm against the person's forehead and send a wave of magic energy into the neurons in the brain. This should stun them if not kill them, and doing it more precisely could alter their brain."
"Thank you." I was about to leave, but Azazel stopped me for seemingly no reason. "What are you doing?"
"You don't even have a sacred gear, and their power is comparable to a mid rank devil, how can you even think about taking them on without help?" Azazel asked, and I brushed off his concern.
"My main goal is to create enough of a distraction for Issei and Rias to save Gasper, not to kill all of them." I pointed out as I opened the door. "Besides, if they can't kill me, and I can kill them, then it's just a matter of time before I win."
"You're really confident in your immortality huh, but what if you get tired?" Azazel asked, and I informed him my endurance was almost super human before becoming a devil. "Okay, I'm starting to see why the girls like you. Girls like guys with high stamina. So how long can you last?"
"Now I can spend an entire day under water without using my seal form, run for a week straight nonstop, and climb entire mountains in a day." I answered, but something tells me Azazel wasn't interested in that. "By 'last', what do you mean?"
"Nothing and you just went from mildly unsettling to full on terrifying in my opinion." Azazel then focused his attention onto Vali. "Vali, care to back this guy up for a bit?"
"Sure thing." Vali walked over to the window and jumped out of it, activating his scale male in the process, unlike Issei, this man showed complete control over his sacred gear.
"I'll join him after I grab some items Mukuro told me I could use since she's stopped with soldier stuff." I walked out the door and started running towards my talented course classroom, as I ran, I began through my notes on everyone's talents.
While it was true I was only focusing on some of the talents for the time being, now I had to do a small crash course for everyone else's talents. From the seemingly meaningless talent of knitting to the unstoppable talent of berserking. I had to learn fifteen different talents in seemingly no time at all, just to ensure I do a good job being a distraction, and not only that, help Lady Rias and Lord Issei. I stopped myself in front of the door to the classroom and opened the doors, revealing everyone frozen in place doing their own things. I passed by Mukuro and opened a locker, revealing several pieces of military equipment, including explosives. Why are there explosives in a school setting? Well the talented course is all about developing our talents to superhuman levels, of course they'd be pulling out all the stops. I grabbed as many explosives as I could and stuffed them in my bag, running out the classroom to make it to the front door to see all the wizards staring at me. I prepared my combat knife and glared at the wizards.
"You are trespassing, leave the premise or I will be forced to take action."
(A/N: You know, my favorite thing about DxD is that I can get all the measurements for the girls, but I actually have to search for the girls' ages, and half the time I don't believe it. Like Akeno is apparently 20 and Rias is 19? Were they held back a year or something? Like their ages explain their physiques but why are they in high school if they should be functioning members of society? At least Asia is 17, which actually makes a hint of sense. By the way, let me know when (Y/N)'s skill list starts getting confusing, I have a list of talents he has learned so I can just copy an paste it from my notes.
