Getting Her Wings

A young woman strode through the streets of Magnolia in the year X755. Her long auburn hair swayed in the breeze, her pace brisk and confident. Though on the inside, she was a complete nervous wreck of a person. Her mind was bouncing around with a lot of different possibilities that could occur.

Let's back it up a bit.

Her name was Anora Mamoru, a wizard who specialized in Protection Magic. Anora is currently 16 years old. Hailing from Hargeon Town she traveled to Magnolia to pursue her dream.

She was currently headed to Fairy Tail, hoping to become a mage there. Maybe, with her luck she'd be able to calm down the rash tendencies that the guild had. She doubted that was possible and wouldn't want it any other way.

At the moment she was tossing around a small teleportation lacrima that she had received from her previous mentor. Anora kept the item on her at all times, so when the opportune moment arise, she'd be able to use it. It usually served it's purpose as a necklace, dangling precariously around her neck.

A strong gust of wind blew, and her white cape suddenly flung backwards revealing the girl's outfit. A long red and white skirt accompanied her white blouse that had golden details on it. Her hair had a small braid adorning the back of it. A sword hung at her hip, made of a mysterious white material.

She softly blew the hair out of her face revealing her shining brown eyes. A small smile always on her face.

Clenching her fist, she swiftly retied the knot to ensure her necklace wouldn't fall off. Pushing open the door, she was quickly greeted by a flying table. Anora blinked in shock before reacting enough to bring two fingers in front of her face.

"Barrier." She intoned, a white magic circle appeared underneath her as a red screen appeared blocking the table from hitting her. Making sure the table lost all it's momentum, she released the spell only to see everyone staring at her.

Two boys, with brown and dark blue hair apiece were standing in the middle of the commotion. "Hi-i." Anora said nervously, breaking the silence.

"Woah that was awesome!" Cheered the brown haired boy. "What kind of magic is that?!" The younger boy asked her.

"Oh-h." Anora replied coming out of her surprised stupor. "It's a barrier I was able to create. My actual magic is Protection Magic."

"Child," A voice spoke as Anora looked around to try and find the owner. At last, she spotted an older man who was perched on what looked to be a bar. He had white hair and cradled a mug, a staff laying beside him. "what are you doing here?" He questioned.

Anora wanted to retort after being called a child, but refrained from it. "I'm looking to join the Fairy Tail guild." She responded to him, twisting her hands together. "I might not be very good right now but I'll do my best." The girl exclaimed, bending in half to bow.

"As the Master of this guild, you're in." The man said, a soft smile gracing his face. Anora blinked in shock, not fully comprehending the gravity of the situation. Her mouth opened and closed rapidly in shock.

"Just like that?!" She exclaimed more than a bit astonished. It couldn't be that easy. Getting into FAIRY TAIL couldn't be that easy.

The man nodded seriously. "Indeed, welcome child, to Fairy Tail. Enno the stamp and paperwork please." A purple haired girl smiled widely, grabbing a couple items from behind the bar and gracefully leaped over the counter, spinning in a circle.

It only took a glance at her to know that she was a dancer at heart. Enno looked to be the same age as the two boys that were fighting when Anora had entered. The dark blue haired immediately started blushing unashamed. Anora raised an eyebrow at that, how old were these kids? Already having a crush on the other.

"Hi! My name is Enno how are you!" She chirped, a smile forming on her face. Her violet eyes sparkling with excitement. Anora had to guess it was becausing she was meeting somebody totally new.

"Nice to meet you Enno." Anora said, smiling lightly crouching down to the girl's height. "My name is Anora Mamoru. I hope we get along well."

Enno grinned widely, "Hi Anora! Here's the paperwork, and then we can get your guildmark." She questioned handing over a slip of paper along with a pen. Picking up the page, her eyes ran over the paper.

The questions were simple enough. Just basic questions that anyone could ask her.

Name: Anora Mamoru

Age: 16

Magic: Protection Magic

Team: N/A

Giving a satisfied smile, she handed the paper back to Enno, and the younger girl looked at her expectantly holding up the stamp in one hand. "Where and what color?"

"Uh." Anora blinked, thinking where she would want to put it. Before that, she decided she would first settle on a color. "For the color can I have red with a white trim?"

Enno smiled nodding. "Sure thing! But you need to decide where it will go." She quickly swiped a finger across the rim of the stamp, and the ink seemingly turned red with a white trim just like she had asked.

"Any specific place it should be?" Anora questioned trying to stall the answer. Enno giggled shaking her head no. Biting her lip, she started twirling her hair. Snapping her fingers, her face lit up. "On my right forearm please."

"You got it!" Enno cheered, lightly turning Anora's arm to place the stamp on it. To Anora's delight the stamping process didn't hurt one bit. With a 'pop' and the removal of the stamp, Anora's guildmark was proudly revealed.

"Thanks a lot Enno." Anora said, observing her guildmark.

"No problem!" Enno replied with a wide smile. "Welcome to the family."

Anora's finger traced over the mark that was on her forearm tenderly. It had a faint scent on it, but she didn't mind. She was a part of a family now.

One thing raced through her mind as she stared at the guildmark ignoring the cheers around her.

I did it Dad.

"Hey pretty lady!" The dark blue haired boy called from earlier. Anora turned towards him in question as they both walked towards her. "I'm Macao, this is my friend Wakaba." He grinned before continuing. "We both joined a couple months ago."

"Nice to meet you both. I'm Anora." She responded with a toothy grin to the pair of boys that she now knew the names of.

"Show us more of your magic!" The brown haired boy, Wakaba, demanded. Macao quickly whacked him on the head yelling that, 'you can't just ask a stranger to show you their mage'.

Anora blinked in surprise before letting out a laugh. "Sure thing kiddo." The boy pouted, muttering that he wasn't a kid. Anora rolled her head, loosening her neck up before stretching her arms out.

What should I do? Anora questioned to herself, looking at the duo of boys in front of her. An idea apppeared in her mind as she snapped her fingers. "Okay lets do this!"

"Barrier; House of Cards! Defense Form!" Anora chanted pointing her finger into the air before slashing it downwards. The white magic circle, which she grew accustomed to, appeared beneath her feet. Both her hair and cape started to shift around due to the magic power growing in the air.

One by one, red barrier panels quickly formed around the trio standing in the center of the guild. The panels assembled a shape that resembled a house. Hence the name 'House of Cards'. If it were to be used as an actual house. The 'cards' in this scenario were the various barriers that comprised the house.

"You said defense form." Someone remarked. Anora looked around while the two boys were occupied looking at her magic. She spotted a orange haired boy sitting by the bar, holding a wooden mug. He seemed to be around the same age that she was. He wore a black shirt with jeans that accompanied them. On his feet were black boots, and around his neck was an orange necklace.

"So what?" Anora asked, raising an eyebrow. "In this form it's non-damaging and practically indestructible. At least until my magic power runs out."

A challenging grin appeared on the boy's face. He leaped off his place on the stool and stood in front of the House of Cards. "Well I'm Gildarts Clive and I'm going to break this thing! This is your welcome to Fairy Tail present." A smirk appeared on his face as he pressed his right hand against one of the panels.

"Webbed Crush." White magic flared around him as both Macao and Wakaba started to panic and run around in circles next to Anora. Seemingly out of nowhere, a red grid of small boxes appeared primed and ready to strike the House of Cards.

Anora gave him a flat stare. "Do your worst." She challenged spreading her arms out wide.

Gildarts gave a huff before releasing the spell. A veil of white smoke appeared outside the structure and the orange haired boy took a step back huffing. Anora applauded Gildarts for a couple moments into the silence.

"IT DID NOTHING?!" He exclaimed in shock. His green eyes were wide open as we glanced down towards his hand to make sure he actually cast the spell.

Anora blinked at Gildarts for a moment. "That's not true." She remarked turning to the top right corner of the spell. "If you look over there, there's a small crack in the building. It's more than most can do." It was true where the roof met the walls, a small crack resided. "I didn't call it practically indestructible for nothing. At the moment I actually used half of my current magic power to cast that." Anora explained, ignoring the open stares of her guildmates.

Snapping her fingers, Anora collapsed the House of Cards, shattering into a million pieces on the floor. After Anora tapped her foot once on the ground, the shards shone brightly before disappearing with a bright flash.

Macao and Wakaba started rushing towards the counter to grab a drink, laughing merrily along the way. Anora smiled softly watching the two of them run off. They reminded her of herself when she was younger.

All of a sudden Anora heard boisterous laughter, she turned searching for the source. What she found, was Gildarts doubled over laughing so hard it brought him to his knees. Anora, puzzled, tilted her head to the side. Her hair draping over her shoulder as she brought her cape around to cover the front of her body.

"Hey! What's so funny Gil-" She started speaking before she was rudely cut off by the boy before her.

Gildarts somehow found the strength to stand up after he finished laughing. "You're good." He remarked wiping a fake tear off his face. His posture straightened out and he grinned. "You only good for defense?" He questioned tilting his head.

Anora bristled at that statement, her teeth grinding against each other. How dare Gildarts think she couldn't fight. "Of course not." She managed. "I can use my barriers to attack, I just have to get creative. Though, I usually just use my sword for that." Her hand drifted to the handle next to her hip. "I'm quite capable of attacking."

"You'll have to battle me once your magic power is fully restored." Gildarts remarked. "I'd like to see how Protection Magic can be used on the offensive."

"Tomorrow then?" Anora questioned scratching her head in thought. "My tomorrow my magic reserves should be fully restored."

"So tomorrow at 12 here at the guildhall!"

All of a sudden the master spoke up, making a halfhearted glare at the pair of teenagers. "In front of the guildhall if you would. I don't need to pay more damage bills because of you Gildarts. This old man has enough to worry about already." He muttered, swirling his drink.

Gildarts sheepishly laughing, rubbing the nape of his neck. "Sorry Master. I can't help it if I go overboard." The master rolled his eyes, muttering something under his breath before nursing his drink. If Anora had to take a guess, she'd have to guess alcohol. She'd seen adults drink it all the time.

"You better not back out Anora!" Gildarts declared pointing a finger at her. "I'm going to pulverize you and your shields."

A tiny smirk adorned Anora's face as she let out a small laugh. "You can sure try that."

"Child, do you have a place to stay yet?" She turned towards the Master, thinking for a moment. She let out a sheepish laugh scratching her head lightly.

Clearing her throat she responded to his questioning glance. "I was so busy trying to make it from Hargeon I kind of forgot about housing."

The master closed his eyes letting out a small sigh. "You can live here until you get enough money. No child of mine is sleeping in the woods are something."

Anora's eyes brightened and she bowed, "Thank you so much Master!" She said with glee. A small smile flickered on her Master's face as he took a key from his pocket and tossed it to her. He pointed to a room that was located next to the bar area.

"That's where you can stay. Now run along, I'm sure you are tired from your journey." Anora nodded gratefully before walking over to the room and unlocking the door.

She twisted the handle and stepped inside the lightly dusted room. Only a small bed was in it along with a dresser. Anora unbuckled the sword from her hip and placed it atop the dresser. She made her way to the window. And with a creak she pushed it open.

Sticking her head out she enjoyed the light breeze that was blowing that day.

This is going to be an adventure.
