Shh It's A Secret - Chapter 2
"Right then class, listen up. I would like to introduce you all to our new student, Miss Echo Waters!" The teacher introduced enthusiastically as she motioned for me to come join her at the front of the class.
In response, I simply walked to the front of the classroom, smiled so weakly that you could barely notice it, then waited for the teacher to show me my seat while everyone's eyes stayed glued to my figure as if they were examining me.
"Okay then Echo, let's see. You should be sat right at the back next to Mr Black," She gestured towards a smiling teen who waved lightly at me, even though he looked bored as hell. He seemed to be the only one on that row.
He had shortish, messy, light brown hair that went perfect with his calm, warm complexion.
His milky chocolate orbs shone slightly in the light that made its way through the window beside him and gently smothered him in a cloak of warmth.
As he smiled, two dimples began to form on each of his cheeks in which somehow created a friendly atmosphere around himself.
"Okay, thanks," I managed to breath out before making my way to my seat. The boy just glanced at me as I sat down beside him then began to look back at the teacher once he realised I caught him looking.
"I'm Chase," he whispered into my ear, his warm breath brushing against my cold, pallid skin; almost sending shivers crawling across my form.
Ignoring his introduction, I continued to stare at a non-existent point of emptiness without saying a word in response.
As the lesson continued on, I began to get a feeling that someone was staring at me and the more I tried to push away the feeling, the more I wanted to look around to see who it was. Then it sunk in. I was at the back of the classroom with one other person, the feeling was most likely coming from Chase.
My eyes moved slightly to the left of me only to find that my instincts were correct...
Laid back in his chair slightly, his gaze was clearly fixated on my embodiment and once he noticed I had caught him staring for a second time, he didn't bother in looking away, he just smiled shyly as a light pink colour dusted his cheeks faintly.
"So then Chase, can you solve the equation for me please?" The teacher spoke up from the front of the classroom, obviously picking up that he wasn't paying attention.
"E-er, yeah ermmm, what was the equation again?" He questioned in a awkward demeanour as the whole class turned to look at him.
"It's on the board Mr Black. I asked you to solve the equation 2y + 10x = 15, " She stated, a little too big for her boots.
"Well... Ermmm... " he stuttered uncomfortably and started to shuffle slightly in his seat at the teachers unwavering stare.
'Come on, this is the easiest equation ever. Don't tell me you can't solve it....'
"X = 1.3" I stated, getting a little impatient at his slow response to the question.
"Correct Miss Waters! Next time Chase, pay attention to my lesson. I'm not stood here for nothing you know," she simply announced before continuing the lesson, in which I didn't even bother paying attention to it was that easy.
"Thank you," he whispered in my ear before turning back to listen to the teacher - probably not wanting to be embarrassed a second time.
"Don't get the wrong idea, I did it because you were taking too long," I replied in a toneless manner before the lesson was cut to an end by the booming ring of the school bell.
"Finally over!" Chase cheered before grabbing his bag and standing from his seat but just before he left, he turned to face me.
"May I look at your time table?" He asked before looking over my shoulder at the sheet without even waiting for my answer.
"You're in the same class as me! Come on, I will show you the way," he explained as he waited for me to grab my stuff.
"I'm fine on my own thanks," I replied, really not in the mood for this. "If you want to make me happy, I think you should just stay away from me," I added before looking him dead in the eyes to show how serious I was.
"Whatever suits you," he replied with a slight smirk, unfazed by my previous request. I can already tell that this boy is really going to annoy me to death and he really doesn't want to see me annoyed.
As I finally made it to my English class with ease, I couldn't help but notice the familiar pastel blue hair which almost immediately made me want to leave the classroom before she could notice me, but I guess it was a little too late.
"ECHOOOOO!" Neon sung as she glomped me tightly with a wide grin across her lips - her turquoise eyes glittering slightly with fake excitement. "I can't believe it! We are in the same class!" She exclaimed, too loud for my liking.
"Yeah unfortunately. Could you get off me please, you know it hate people near me," I stated uncomfortably as she kept up the innocent act.
"Stop being so cold blooded all the time, you said you would try and be cheerful today," she explained with a raised eyebrow, awaiting my response.
"I agreed to no such thing. I only agreed to keep on the teachers good side, remember," I taunted before making my way to the front of the class room to find out where I was sat.
"Wait for me sis!" Neon shouted gleefully as I groaned slightly in irritation. Why does she have to be my sister. At least Axel keeps to himself instead of bothering me 24/7.
Reaching the teacher, we asked for our seats and once he told us who we were sat next to, my face fell immediately - paling slightly as well.
"Yay! I get to sit next to sis!" Neon squealed as she clung onto my arm and dragged me towards our seats whilst I silently cursed in my head.
As we sat down, I also noticed the boy from before, Chase, was also sat directly in front of me and I hoped to hell that he wouldn't bother me anymore than he had. Why is it so hard for people to stay away from me?
A few minutes later, the teacher tried to get all of our attention and soon after started the lesson. Of course, once again, I didn't pay attention to a thing. I didn't see the point - I already knew everything.
Half of the lesson had past, Neon was happily doodling, Chase was listening intently to the teacher, probably so he doesn't embarrass himself again and I was just aimlessly gazing out the window at nothing in particular.
That was until suddenly, I felt something hit the back of my head. It was a scrunched up piece of paper thrown by the guy behind me.
"Hey, new girl," he shouted in a whisper as he threw another paper ball at my head. I just ignored him but he began to carry on.
"Hey answer me!" He quietly shouted once again and that's when I started to get really irritated.
He continued on again and again and that's when it happened...
My body and skin began to burn like flames on ice. My eyes began to sting and I couldn't find a way to make myself blink. All of my muscles began to ache, but not out of tiredness - more like out of eagerness. But most of all, above everything else I felt, the strongest sensation was the growing urge to kill anyone in sight.
I tried so hard to push the urge away but it just kept coming back stronger and stronger until...
"Echo, calm down." Neon's serious voice rang through my ears as I felt her icy hand upon mine, trying to snap me out of my urges.
Turning to face her, I realised that she was back to her true self. Her eyes were no longer gleaming. Her face no longer wore the childish smile and her voice was stern and serious.
After a few deep breaths, my vision cleared and I finally came back to my senses. Neon had practically scared away the boy behind me with just one stare and Chase kept glancing at me now and then with a concerned expression. Why does he bother with me? He doesn't even know me.
Meanwhile, the teacher hadn't even noticed my little scene and all the other students were either too engaged in the lesson or their own conversations to even care.
Once the lesson was over, I grabbed my bag and made my way to my other lessons in which all seemed to run smoothly except from the occasional idiot which would try and get the 'mysterious new kids' attention and show off in front of his friends but with one empty glance - they soon shut up.
I noticed that Chase was in near enough all of my lessons, Neon was in at least half and Axel was in one or two of them - I don't think I had any lessons on my own; Unfortunately.
It was finally the end of the day and I was supposed to meet up with Neon and Axel at the car so I made my way through the simple corridors until I caught sight of the exit door.
As I finally reached the door, I exited the building and suddenly found myself accidentally colliding with another person who seemed to be in quite a rush. One look of this 'persons' face ,though ,made me wish I had found the exit a little later.
It was Chase.
"Ermmm... I'm sorry about that. It was an accident," He apologised with a sincere look upon his features.
"Hmmm... Whatever," I replied as I began to walk away, not really giving him any attention or the time of day.
"Why are you so dismissive and rude?" He said quietly, not meaning for me to hear.
"Well if you'd leave me alone, you wouldn't have to put up with it," I answered as he just smirked a little, as if he was amused.
"I think I might stick around a little longer. You interest me," He stated, the smirk still lingering upon his lips.
"Why don't people understand the words 'leave me alone'?" I said under my breath with a large sigh, as I began to stroll away without another word from both of us until I finally heard a faint, "See you tomorrow, Echo" before I reached the car and waited for my siblings to arrive.
This was by far the longest school day in the history of school days...
And I don't think it's going to get any better...
