Just a list of things to expect when dating John 😊

1. Food is important -
Whether it be making up to you after a fight, having a romantic dinner or just relaxing together in the sofa, John always knows what to cook. Usually it's something warm and comforting like soup or casserole but when all else fails, you just eat sweets together :)

2. Crap telly -
John just loves to watch crap telly... He can't help it. When he isn't out on a case with Sherlock, one of his favourite things to do is curl up on the sofa with you and watch Jeremy Kyle. On some days, you even watch the antiques roadshow together so be prepared for that...

3. Jumpers and cardigans -
The majority of John's wardrobe consists of jumpers and knitted cardigans. It is actually quite sweet because it makes him more huggable. You can borrow these jumpers to wear as long as you give them back (he is very protective over his jumpers). When you go out with John, don't expect suits, ties etc... It ain't gonna happen honey.

4. Army talk -
Because of his minor PTSD, John can sometimes get angry with you. You just have to notice the signs and calm him down. First, he will start to talk with an elevated volume then he will use short army style phrases like "don't talk back to me" or "be quiet!". When he does this, he really doesn't mean to hurt or scare you, he just can't control it. Urge him to sit down and offer him a cup of tea. If he refuses, give him some alone time...he should soon be back to the good old John you now and love.

5. Disappearing -
John is quite prone to just grabbing his jacket and running out of the flat while shouting "new case, Sherlock needs me!". When he does this, he is usually gone for several hours so when he returns you are usually asleep. If you are in bed, he will leave you in peace but if you are in the sofa, he will bring you a blanket, place it over you and kiss your forehead... Every single time.

6. Romance -
John is actually really romantic. On special occasions like your birthday or the anniversary of you two meeting, he will take you out to a fancy restaurant to make the night special. However, John can also improvise a romantic night in with just the supplies he has in the flat. It's amazing what he can do with a few candles, a table cloth and a few old rose petals he kept in a box from Valentine's Day. Expect a lot of romance when dating John because he truly believes you are worth going to all the effort for.

7. Boosting your self confidence -
John will constantly shower you with compliments through the the day. If you buy a new outfit "you look beautiful" if you're having a rough day "I am so lucky to be with you", if you are struggling a little with self esteem "you truly don't have to change anything about yourself, to me, you are perfect". John always knows how to make you feel amazing and he doesn't overdo it so it's still special when he says it. To John, you are the most beautiful girl in the whole damn world.

8. Cups of tea -
A cup of tea is a must have with every meal. Being British, a cup of tea is a staple beverage which is an art that must be perfected. Usually, John makes the tea because he knows exactly how you like it (milk one sugar) but also because he is intolerable when he had a bad cup of tea...

9. Day trips -
When John has some time away from cases, expect a lot of day trips. These can range anywhere from going to the theatre, swimming, sightseeing or even just a nice stroll through London. Wherever you go, you always take a picnic. Bread and jam (of course) wine and grapes seem to be the usual so be prepared for a lunch or two in the open air.

10. He will love you indefinitely -
It's as simple as that. John will love you till the end of time and never leave your side for one step of the way. Even through hard times, John will hold you above everything and always make you feel special.
