The clink of glasses filled the air as you stretched out along your best friend Molly's couch, the two of you exhausted as you looked around the flat, bottles and various other trash littering the floor that once was filled with dozens of teenagers and young adults.
"Look who's finally eighteen," Molly remarked, leaning back against the arm of the couch and taking a sip of her glass. "You're finally one of us."
You poured more liquor into yours, something you totally bought legally and took a sip of your own. The party had been one of the best you'd been to, thrown by your friend to celebrate your coming of age, once the clock had struck 3 am the crowd slowly thinned until there was no one but you and Molly.
"speaking of everyone else, I should probably be heading home." You took a long swig of your glass, finishing it off as your throat burned. You stood, alcohol fresh in your veins as you stumbled to pick up your heels.
"Are you should go out like that?" Molly remarked as you pushed the strap of your dress over your shoulder again, you nodded and grabbed your purse. "I can walk, my flat's less than a block away."
"Are you sure you don't want to stay here?" Molly asked, her intoxicated state clearly preventing her from being the smart friend she normally was as she let you walk out the door. "No, me and Richard are going out tomorrow morning."
Molly gave you a devilish grin, "I'm going to have to meet this Richard one day, it sucks he couldn't have been here til tomorrow."
"Yeah." you nodded from the door frame, "But his plane lands tomorrow, see ya Molls! Thanks for a great night."
You pulled the door shut behind you, the nighttime breeze kissing your bare shoulder causing goosebumps to form. Your heels clicked against the pavement, the street lit by the moonlight.
" Y/N "
It sounded like a faint whisper, you looked around for a moment before shrugging it off and setting on your way again.
" Y/N "
It sounded again, a bit louder this time. You looked around to find the streets oddly empty.
No pedestrians, no cars or cabs.
Nothing.
You'd seen enough horror movies to know you needed to get the fuck out of there, so you picked up speed and reached into your purse and felt for your phone while slipping on your brass knuckles.
"Y/N "
Now it sounded as if it was right behind you, you turned and looked behind you to find nothing there.
This was the moment when you chose to flat out RUN.
You felt fingers wrap around your arm, causing a shriek to escape your lips, swinging your fist as you were yanked into an ally. Your fist collided with air as a single street lamp flickered on, revealing a hooded figure, the hand on your arm pale and wrinkled. The figure pulled down their hood, revealing an old lady. Her salt and pepper hair frizzed out, but what truly captivated you were her dark, ink black eyes. They practically mirrored the sky.
"W-W-What do you want?" You slowly backed away, reaching into your purse for your phone again.
"I have a gift for you." She reached into her cloak and you turned away and sprinted away as fast as you could before running into what felt like a wall. You pulled back and saw an empty city before you. You frowned, slowly reaching forward but your hand hit something solid. The thumping of your heart was audible as you slowly turned to the woman, breath becoming more rapid.
She stepped forward, a bow and arrow in her hand.
"I'm gonna die," You muttered as she stepped closer, "Classic me- not even sober when I get murdered."
She extended the bow and placed it in your hands. "Fire."
"What?" You questioned, eyes wide.
She gestured to the arrow she had also given you, "Once you shoot this arrow, it will pierce the heart of whoever is destined to kill you three seconds before it happens."
You looked at the bow. "I call bullshit."
"Don't believe me? Shoot." She held her hands in the air.
You trembled, looking back at the bow in your hand.
"Well? I haven't got all day." The woman tapped her foot.
You officially decided you were in an alcohol-induced dream and shrugged, so you raised the bow and attempted to fire at her.
The arrow simply fazed right through her and disappeared.
The bow clattered to the ground and you backed away into the night, the world began to spin as you slowly felt your legs give out from under you, hitting the cold ground as the world went black.
Your eyes slowly blinked open and the scene had changed. You were staring up at Molly, sunlight filtering in through the blinds. "Oh good, you're awake. I just came to tell you breakfast was ready."
"How did I get here?" You shot up and looked around to find yourself in Molly's guest room.
"You crashed here last night, I don't expect you to remember much after all you had to drink." She remarked as she walked out fo the room.
You rubbed your eyes, relief washing over you as you realized the previous night was nothing but a dream.
Present
You chewed your bottom lip nervously, looking up at Richard. He looked down at you with his award-winning smile, his handsome features putting you at rest.
"I love you." He mouthed, brown eyes sparkling.
"I love you too." You mouthed back.
"Do you (your full name) take Richard Brook to be your lawfully wedded husband?"
"I do." You smiled
"And do you, Richard Brook, take (your name) to be your lawfully wedded wife?"
"I do." He smiled back.
As soon as the second word left his lips, a choked sound escaped. You watched the light in his eyes die instantly as you looked down to see crimson stain the front of his shirt as he collapsed into your arms.
An arrow stuck from his back.
