soyou: is this jesus
read at 12.02pm
a frown graced her lips when there was no reply even after several minutes. but then again, she was not expecting much. she probably sounded like a nutcase to everyone.
even she, herself, thinks she's crazy.
she definitely didn't ask for this though. born with the uncanny ability to see spirits, her parents had abandoned her, out of fear, when she was at the age of 11 and left her to her own devices. since then, soyou had given up on her education and took up as many part time jobs as she could. avoided as many ghosts as possible.
she was a carefree and optimistic girl, no doubt, but sometimes she just wished the world wasn't so unfair.
carrying out her usual routine, soyou grabbed a carton of milk and a stack of newspaper before depositing them on the doorsteps of wealthy families. just as she got back on her bike, a figure from the corner of her eye caught her attention.
the familiar thump of the heart.
instinctively, she turned and her suspicions were confirmed. it was a female ghost, clad in surprisingly blood free clothes. she was hunched and almost at once, soyou recognized her as the old lady from the family that she had just made the delivery to. a faint memory of the old lady passing away from illness resurfaced.
these ghosts usually meant no harm ; they often wander around because they have words left unsaid their loved ones. initially, soyou hadn't minded. after all, as soon as she helps to deliver the message, the spirits dissipate into thin air. but right now, she was getting really tired of acting as a bridge between the living and the dead.
didn't help that the old lady was already making her way to soyou.
just as she was about to resign to fate yet again, a vibration was felt in her jean pockets and the translucent hunched figure disappeared.
frowning for the second time that day, soyou reached into her pocket and took her phone out to find one new message. from the person who readzoned her earlier.
with a jolt, she realized what had just happened. it was a lousy theory with no evidence at all, but a theory nonetheless. a text from the supposed jesus makes the ghosts leave. she opened the text.
unknown: no, i'm satan.
