Brennen had texted Colby to meet him in the back parking lot before school because he had a surprise.

For once, Brennen was there early. The surprise was just the breakfast he got for the younger boy. He didn't want anything like the previous day's events to happen again.

Colby got dropped off by his mom since he was going to the mall with Brennen after school. He said goodbye and gave her a kiss on the cheek before stepping out of the car and walking to the meeting spot.

He smiled brightly when Brennen came into view, but all the other male did was gawk at him.

"Hey...?" Colby giggled, giving him a confused look. He tried to act natural even though he knew what Brennen was staring at. A chance of distraction came when he saw the delicious-looking fruit bowl in Brennen's hand. "Oh? Who's that for?" He asked playfully, reaching out to grab it but Brennen pulled it away and took a step back.

The older boy began growing a smile, "It's for my friend Colby, who are you?"

Colby rolled his eyes and chuckled, "I knew you were gonna be weird about it."

Brennen trailed his eyes all over the younger's body. Instead of that raggedy ass sweater, he was wearing a bright red tshirt, which was tucked into a pair of black ripped jeans; cuffed at the ankles. And a pair sunglasses, which were the same style as his reading glasses, adorned the top of his head.

Needless to say, this looked like a completely different person. But Brennen was enjoying every second of it.

"Damn baby, can I get your number?"

"Stop!" Colby laughed, hugging himself as a shield from Brennen's stare.

"Where's Sam's sweater?"

"I ditched it. Today. I felt like wearing something a little nicer."

"And why's that?"

"Because I'm dying my hair, might as well change everything up a little bit." He explained, fixing the straps of his backpack.

Brennen nodded and began walking toward his car, knowing that Colby would follow behind him. "Not that you needed a change, you look beautiful no matter what."

Colby smiled brightly and cooed, "Thanks, Brennen. You're too sweet to me."

"Oh yeah! Here," Brennen turned around and handed the clear plastic bowl to Colby. "I don't know if you ate breakfast or not so I thought I would bring you something. I got you a smoothie too!" He reminded himself, opening the car door and reaching over the console to retrieve a bottle with a yellow liquid inside. "It's mango. I hope you like mango.. Do you like mango?"

"I do like mango, yes." Colby laughed, grabbing the bottle when Brennen handed it to him. "I did eat breakfast, for the record, but I really appreciate you looking out for me. You're cute."

"So I've been told," Brennen shrugged playfully, smiling when Colby set his items on the hood of the car and walked over to give him a hug. "You're adorable."
Colby giggled, snuggling closer to Brennen's chest.

Brennen looked over the shorter's head and noticed Jamie walking over to them with a smile on her face. He smiled back and waved hello as she approached.

"Hey, B. Hi, kid." She greeted, nodding her head at each of them.

Colby bit his lip nervously and pulled away from Brennen to fave Jamie. He smiled, genuinely happy to see her at school but also to not raise any suspicion from the other boy. "Hey Jamie.."

"Aw, you two friends now?" Brennen asked, raising an eyebrow as he looked between them.

"I guess... We had a little chat. Didn't we, Sweater?"

"Uh huh.." Colby nodded his head slowly and looked up at Brennen. "Hey, I left my English notebook in my locker so I need to go get that before class-"

"Do you want me to go with you?"

"Uh..." He quickly turned his eyes toward Jamie who, just as secretly, shook her head. "N-no. You don't have to. I'll see you in class, okay?

Brennen frowned slightly, "Okay..."
Colby smiled reassuringly and grabbed his stuff again before walking away. "You two talked huh?" He asked and crossed his arms over his chest "When?"

"Um.. Yesterday. After school." Jamie replied with a shrug, keeping her hands in the pockets of her denim jacket.

"Oh really?"

"Yup."

"What did you two talk about?"

Jamie narrowed her eyes slightly, "What are you getting at?"

"Just answer the question." Brennen replied just as dryly as she had been.

"Well I apologized and said that I felt like a dick for the other day. And he said it was fine. And I reassured him that I didn't hate him, I was just in a bad mood. And he, once again, told me it was fine."

"Okay," Brennen nodded, bringing his hands down to the pockets of his jeans. He began walking off but before he could get too far, Jamie rushed up in front of him and pushed him back.

"Yo, where are you going?"

"To ask Colby the same thing I asked you." He replied as he pushed Jamie's hands away.

"What? You're not trusting me now or something?"

Brennen chuckled dryly and leaned in closer to her, "Colby wasn't at school yesterday. At least not since first period. And I was with him the rest of the day. So you're clearly lying and something is up."

"W-what? You weren't at the clinic!"

"Oh, and you were?" He asked, raising his eyebrows at her. They both paused, letting the conversation sink in.

"N-no I wasn't-" Jamie tried, but Brennen quickly caught her mistake.

"Then how do you know where he was yesterday?"

She stayed quiet after that, her throat drying up and her heart beating fast. Brennen had clearly won. Her only worry now was Colby. He would be so intimidated by the older male and tell him everything. She just hoped to god that Colby would have her back and tell a lie that would actually make sense.

"I swear if you hurt him-"

"I did nothing to him!" She snapped, growing defensive again at the fact that her own best friend didn't trust her. "Go ask him yourself; I haven't touched him."

"Well you did something wrong, because you're clearly lying." He muttered before walking into the building.

Jamie took a deep breath and wiped her sweaty palms on her pants. She couldn't do anything to stop Brennen. She'd fucked up badly.

"I swear to god, Sweater." She thought out loud just as she heard the first bell ring.
