ANYWAY

'When the OC has the same fate as the Main Character.'

This shit right here is a quick way to make me look for a whole 'nother book. 

Examples: 

'What if Harry wasn't the only child who lived-' 

'What if Naruto wasn't the only child to have the Kyuubi sealed in him-'

'What if Bella didn't move alone-'

'What if Shinji  just got in the fucking robo-' 

Whoops, wrong chapter. 

Anyway, I hate fanfics like this because the OC is either just a genderbent version of the main character (literally), or just a clone of the MC. Like they have the same fate, so the same thing is just going to happen to them. You literally just cloned the MC and gave them a dick or boobs. There's nothing special. 

I think it's lazy, and more of a self insert thing. Not hating on self-inserts, some are good and some are bad. 

Anyway, it all boils down to being creative. Don't just slap your character in there and give them the exact same back story. That's like erasing the main character.
