1.05 || you're such a flirt

Lacey leans against the lockers, her head resting against them as she waits in line with Stiles, Malia, Kira and Scott to take their PSATs. "Bored." Lacey complains.

"Bored? We're about to take the PSATs and you're complaining you're bored?" Stiles asks and she shrugs.

"I am. Just kill me now. Put me out of my misery. What's the point in taking something I know I'm going to fail? Just scare me. Send me into heart failure again. I'm pretty sure that gets me an immediate pass." Lacey says.

"Lacey!" Stiles, Kira and Scott exclaim and she shrugs.

"Is that true? Does that get you an immediate pass?" Malia asks.

"I think I do. If it happens mid-exam. What are they gonna do? Fail a dying girl? Way to kick someone when they're down." Lacey remarks.

"Okay, lets stop with this plan, please." Stiles says.

"Why?" Lacey asks.

"Because it's the worst plan I've ever heard and Scott's genius plan to deal with biting Liam was to kidnap him, tie him up with duct tape and dump him in his bath tub." Stiles says.

"Oh, yeah, Liam wanted me to tell you he wasn't a fan of that. The whole kidnapping thing." Lacey says. "But anyway, it was like my cardiologist said before the transplant, 'Hey, at least if this doesn't work, you don't have to take your PSATs'." Lacey says with a shrug.

"He sounds like a terrible doctor." Stiles says.

"I liked him. We had the same sense of humour. Dark. Very, very dark." Lacey responds.

"Hey, where's Lydia?" Kira asks, trying to stop an argument before it could start.

"She took it her freshman year." Stiles responds after frowning at Lacey for a moment, a look of genuine concern on his face.

She loved that he believed her about her doctor.

That had actually been what her step-father had said in reality, just to be hit by her mother for making the joke despite the fact that she was the one he was trying to calm down by lightening the mood. Lacey and Liam had found it funny, their mother not so much.

"Does that mean I could have taken it some other time?" Malia asks.

"Malia, you studied harder for this than any of us." Scott responds.

"Doesn't mean I'm gonna do good." Malia argues.

"Well." Stiles and Lacey correct at the same time.

"Well, what?" Malia asks.

"It's 'do well', not 'do good'." Stiles explains and Malia looks to Lacey for confirmation, to see the blonde nod.

"Oh, God!" She exclaims.

"Okay, okay. We're doing this, because while we're trying not to die, we still need to live. If I survive high school, I'd like to go to college. A good college." Scott says.

"I love that surviving high school is now an if, not a when for people other than me." Lacey says.

"You're terrible. You have to stop that." Stiles says, pointing at the blonde and she shrugs.

"It's only three hours. We can survive three hours." Kira says.

"Maybe." Lacey adds.

"You, behave. Stop it." Stiles says, pointing at her. "But why would you tempt fate like that?" He asks, looking at Kira and the girl shrugs.

.·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·.

Lacey walks into the classroom first, pressing her thumb into the ink pad before pressing her thumb to the paper and putting her phone in the envelope Lydia's mom was holding out before moving to take her seat with her paper.

"Please do not open the test booklet until you are instructed to do so." The man at the front says and Lacey rolls her eyes at Stiles when she sees him closing his booklet. "The test is two hours and ten minutes." He says and Lacey raises a brow at Stiles when she sees him pull his pencil out of his mouth and look at it before looking forwards. "There will be two twenty-five minute critical reading sections, two twenty-five minute math sections and an essay writing portion that will last thirty minutes." He says.

Lacey leans back in her seat, idly tapping her pencil against her other hand as she waits for the start. "There are supposed to be two teachers monitoring the exam." He says, looking at Lydia's Mom.

"I know. It's Coach. He's not exactly punctual." She responds and Lacey rolls her eyes. "Um, let me just try him again." She says, grabbing her phone before walking out of the room.

Lacey looks up again when she walks back in the room a few moments later. "I can't find him, but Mr Yukimura is upstairs grading papers. Do you want me to try him?" She offers.

"We have to start. We can ask for his assistance during the first break." He responds before looking at something on the desk. "You may now open your test booklets and begin." He announces.

Lacey flips open her booklet, starting to shade in the circles as she looks over the booklet, hesitating a few questions in before moving her pencil to shade in a circle, accidentally pressing down too hard and snapping it. She puts the pencil down, rubbing her forehead before glancing at Stiles and stealing the pencil in his mouth. He looks over at her surprised and she just lifts her broken pencil before going back to answering the questions with the now stolen pencil.

They all turn around when they hear a thud to see Sydney on the floor. "Sydney!" They all watch as Lydia's mom moves towards the brunette, helping her up. "Are you alright?" She asks.

"I'm okay. I just got kind of dizzy." She responds.

"Sydney, how long have you had this?" Natalie asks and Lacey looks up again.

"I don't know." Sydney responds.

"Ms Martin, do I need to stop the test?" He asks.

"No, um, it's fine." She responds before walking to the front of the classroom. "Everybody stay in your seats. I'll, um, be back in a minute." She says before saying something quietly to the man at the front and walking out of the room.

Lacey looks over at Sydney to see a weird mark on her wrist, a slight panic overcoming her. "What's wrong with you?" Stiles whispers and she looks over at him.

"That looks health-related. If this is infectious, I'm pretty much fucked. My immune system is still shot." She whispers back and he glances at Sydney for a moment before looking at the blonde.

"What does that mean?" He asks.

"What could make you all very sick, could kill me. Because I might not have a strong enough immune system to fight it." Lacey responds.

"Why are you even intermingling with regular people if you don't have an immune system? Shouldn't you be in a bubble or something?" Stiles asks.

"I have an immune system. It's just not very good." Lacey retorts.

"You don't look too good now that you mention it." Stiles says and she rubs her face before they hear Natalie shouting in the hall and she's out of her chair seconds after Stiles is to head into the hall.

"Back to your seats. Now." She says when they're all in the hall. "Please." She adds when they linger and Scott and Stiles share a look before heading back into the classroom. "Lacey. Back to your seat." Natalie says and Lacey hesitates, opening her mouth to speak before changing her mind and nodding, following the boys back into the classroom, closing the door. She looks at Scott as she walks into the room to see him looking towards the door.

"What's she saying?" Lacey whispers.

"She's getting the number for the CDC." Scott responds quietly.

"Fantastic." Lacey whispers, moving to sit in her seat.

"Hey, it's gonna be okay." Stiles says and Lacey hums noncommittally. "Lacey, it's going to be okay." He says, resting a hand on her shoulder and she shrugs it off.

.·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·.

Lacey sits on one of the desks in the classroom with Stiles, Malia and Kira, fiddling with a pencil slightly anxiously as they talk. "Bet they're thinking smallpox." Stiles says.

"Not helping, Stiles." Lacey mutters and Kira gently squeezes her knee.

"Not likely." The man at the front of the room says. "Smallpox was eradicated worldwide in 1979. We've only managed to completely eradicate two viruses in history. The other was rinderpest - it killed cows." He explains.

"So, we should be comforted by that, right?" Stiles asks.

"Unless it's something worse." He responds and Lacey's knee starts bouncing.

"Whatever it is, they're taking it pretty seriously. There are a lot of cars and trucks out there." Malia says. "Your dad's with them." She says, looking at Stiles.

"Hey, I should probably call him." Stiles says, getting up to look through the phones.

"Don't bother. They would have shut off any access to all outside communication by now. No cell service, no WiFi. No one starting a panic. Looks like we're all just going to have to wait here and see what happens." He says and Lacey looks down when she manages to snap the pencil in her hand.

"Lacey, relax." Kira says quietly, resting a hand over the blonde's after she puts the pencil to the side.

.·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·.

She stands in line with Kira and Malia waiting for them to draw her blood, tapping her foot idly on the floor while they talk behind her. "Lacey Dunbar." The blonde moves forwards. "You feeling alright, Lacey?" The woman asks.

"Yep. Just a little freaked." Lacey responds.

"I'm sure you'll be okay. I'm going to need you to lift your sleeve." She says.

"Hand. You can't get to the veins in my arm." Lacey says, holding her hand out.

"Had blood drawn before?" She asks.

"A fair few times." Lacey responds.

"Yeah?" She asks as she picks up the needle. "Bet you're not really bothered by needles then."

"Not anymore. I've had enough of them stuck in me." Lacey responds.

"What did you have blood drawn for?" She asks.

"I had a heart transplant ten months ago." Lacey says and the woman looks up at her as she takes her blood.

"Are you sure you're feeling okay?" She asks and Lacey nods. "We'll keep an eye on you, okay?" She says and Lacey nods again as she removes the needle before moving out of the way, holding the little cotton bud to the back of her hand, lingering to wait for the girls.

She watches Kira step up before her eyes widen in surprise when she sees the spark of electricity that travels up the needle before shocking the woman. "Shit." Lacey says before she and Malia move forwards to move the kitsune away as they rush the woman drawing blood out of the building. "Come on." She says before they make their way to the locker rooms.

They watch Scott as he leans over, his eyes flickering from red to brown repeatedly. "It's still happening." Mr Yukimura says.

"I can't make them go back." Malia says, holding up her hands to show them her claws.

"Obviously the virus is affecting the two of you in a way it won't hit any human being." Mr Yukimura says.

"You guys have to stay out of sight. We have to quarantine you from the quarantine." Stiles says.

"Yeah, but where? I mean, what if they get violent? Like on a full moon." Kira says.

"We shouldn't stay in here. Not in the locker room." Scott says.

"A classroom is not going to hold us." Malia says.

"What about the basement?" Kira suggests.

"Too many ways out." Scott says. "We need something secure. Somewhere nobody can find us." He adds.

"The vault." Stiles says and Lacey looks at him. "The Hale vault." Stiles clarifies.

"The Hales always have an escape route. Like their house. There has to be another way in." Scott says before the six of them head through to Coach's office, laying out a blueprint of the school.

"This is where the school sign is, so the vaults got to be right about here." Stiles says, moving his finger along the blueprint.

"I suppose, if there's a second entrance, it would probably be accessible from the basement." Mr Yukimura says.

"It's probably somewhere in this hallway. West corridor." Stiles responds before stumbling slightly and Lacey grabs his arm when he stumbles. "Whoa." He says as she helps him back up.

"It's happening to you too. You're getting sick. You all are." Mr Yukimura says and Stiles glances at Lacey with a concerned look on his face.

"I'm fine." Lacey mutters.

"Lacey, you look terrible." Malia says.

"You're such a flirt." Lacey responds.

"I don't feel sick." Kira says when her father looks at her.

"I think it's affecting you differently, neurologically." He says. "I found your test answers here in a pile with the others." He says, placing her paper in front of her and Lacey glances at it to see the dots all randomly across the page.

.·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·.

The five of them, minus Mr Yukimura head down to the basement after that, Malia catching Lacey when she has a brief dizzy spell as she reaches the bottom of the stairs. "You okay?" Malia asks and Lacey nods.

"Yeah, I'm fine." Lacey says and Malia nods before they move to follow the other three but Lacey hesitates, briefly rubbing her chest before following them all.

She starts helping them look around for the entrance to the Hale vault. "What are we even looking for?" She whispers to Kira and the kitsune shakes her head with a shrug.

"No idea." She responds and Lacey snorts in amusement. "You sure you're okay?" Kira whispers.

"I'm fine." Lacey responds and she nods.

"Hey, guys. Over here." Stiles says and the four of them make their way to him to see Scott and Stiles moving a shelfing unit. "Look at the cracks in the wall. It's like the entrance outside. It only opens with claws - anyone's claws, right?" Stiles says and Lacey frowns at his emphasis on 'anyone'.

"Um, Malia, can you try?" Scott asks, looking at her.

"Why me?" Malia asks and Lacey narrows her eyes at the boys suspiciously behind the brunette's back.

"I don't have control." Scott says, showing her his hand.

"Okay. I'll do it." Malia agrees. "But first tell me what you've been hiding from me." She demands and Lacey looks around at the other three, confused when she sees the looks on their faces. "I know you think you're trying to protect me, but I can handle it." Malia says and both boys look down.

"Oh, for the love of God, would someone just tell her what she wants to know?" Lacey exclaims, gesturing at the brunette and Malia smiles at her briefly before looking at the boys.

"I know I'm on the list." Malia says and Lacey frowns slightly in confusion at the relieved looks on their faces.

They were hiding something else from her.

"Yes." Stiles says.

"So how much?" Malia asks.

"How much what?" Stiles asks with a slightly confused frown.

"How much am I worth?" Malia asks and Lacey snorts briefly in amusement.

"Four million." Scott responds and Lacey watches Malia carefully as she looks away from the Alpha.

"Are you okay?" Stiles asks and Malia looks up.

"Yeah. Scott's worth twenty-five, Kira, six. They'll take you guys out way before me." Malia says and Lacey smiles in amusement at the brunette as she moves towards the wall to open the vault.

"It's progress. It's progress." Stiles says.

"I love her." Lacey says and Stiles rolls his eyes at the blonde before the four of them watch Malia open the vault before Lacey follows them all inside. "Why would you build this under a high school?" Lacey asks after a moment.

"The vault was here first." Stiles says.

"Oh."

Lacey sits down when they're inside of the vault, intentionally away from any of the others, occasionally wiping her forehead or pressing the palm of her hand to her chest. She looks up eventually and she sees Stiles sending her a worried look from where he was sat with Malia and she waves him off, resting her head against the wall.

She didn't like being fussed over when she was sick. Which had obviously made the past three years really fun where her mother was involved.

Oh, God.

She was going to be insufferable after this. And Liam might actually be worse.

"You know this is where it all started?" Stiles says and Lacey looks over at him at the same time as Scott. "That's where the money was." Stiles says, gesturing briefly and Lacey glances at the safe. "Hundred and seventeen million in bearer bonds." Stiles says.

"How do you even change bearer bonds into cash?" Kira asks, looking at the jars on the shelves.

"The bank, I guess." Stiles responds.

"Did you know they became illegal to issue in the US in 1982?" Lacey says idly and they all look at her. "You can still redeem them but you won't get any interest. You have to find a bank or processing centre that will convert them." Lacey says.

"Why do you know that?" Scott asks and she looks over at him.

"I spent a while off school, 'relaxing'. So, in other words I was finding random shit to research. Because I was so damn bored." Lacey says and he nods.

"They just let it sit here the whole time collecting dust." Stiles says. "You know bearer bonds are basically extinct? Which is obviously because, as Lacey said, they're illegal to issue now." Stiles says.

"Why does it matter?" Kira asks.

"You know how many problems that money could solve?" Stiles asks.

"For you?" Kira asks.

"Me. My dad. The Eichen House and MRI bills are crushing him." Stiles says.

"Mom does this thing, she writes down all the items in our budget, and how much they cost, then she adds them all up and figures out how long we have until- We lose the house." Scott says.

"Liam doesn't know," Lacey starts and the three of them glance at her. "Our biological father left our Mom with a ton of debt. Gambling debt, mostly. She's still paying off the mortgage on the house. And the hospital don't really pay that much. Not even to the surgeons. I see them stressing over bills sometimes. Wondering how they're gonna make ends meet. He turned up last year and again, Liam doesn't know. It was just before my surgery. And my Mom thought he was there to see me but he was just there because he needed money." Lacey says.

"He sounds like an asshole." Stiles says.

"Understatement of the century." Lacey responds. "And I know my surgery made everything worse. Plus all the tests that had to be done. The hospital bills were huge." The blonde says.

"But you're alive." Kira says.

"Doesn't make it any easier for them. They're still broke." Lacey responds.

"At least we've got something in common." Stiles remarks and she and Scott roll their eyes at him.

.·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·.

Lacey glances up briefly when the boys move over to the door before looking back down at the floor, blocking out the four of them as she presses a hand to her chest.

She looks back up when Stiles moves over to Malia to see him waking her. "I gotta leave for a few, okay?" He says.

"Where are you going?" She asks.

"Whatever's happening? It's worse for you guys. That means it's not just people getting sick, it's another assassin." Stiles says and Lacey rests her head against the wall when he moves to give her his jacket.

She was going to have to go with him. She couldn't leave him to go out there alone if it was another assassin. Two people with no knowledge of self-defence had to be better than one.

Surely.

"You're coming back, right?" Malia asks.

"Yeah. Yeah, I'd never leave you behind." Stiles says before kissing her forehead and getting up and Lacey pushes herself up. "Where are you going?" Stiles asks the blonde.

"With you. You're not going out there alone." Lacey says, leaning on the wall before straightening up.

"No. You look terrible. And I mean terrible. Sit back down." Stiles says.

"No. Now lets go. I'm fine." Lacey says and he sighs before relenting and the blonde follows him out of the vault, watching him linger to look at Malia. "What are you really hiding from her?" Lacey asks and Stiles looks over at her. "Oh, don't give me that look, Stilinski. I'm not an idiot. You weren't hiding how much she was on the dead pool, you're hiding something else. What is it?" Lacey asks.

"You know Malia's adopted?" Stiles asks and she nods. "We know who her biological father is. And her birth name is on the dead pool." Stiles says.

"And?" Lacey asks.

"It's Peter Hale." Stiles says.

"As in the douchebag that turned Scott?" She asks and he nods.

"The very one." He says.

"Oh. You should still tell her. You probably should have already told her to be honest." Lacey says.

"You don't know Peter like we do." Stiles says.

"But I'm starting to know Malia. And I know she's not going to be happy you've lied to her." Lacey says.

"Lacey, don't get involved. It has nothing to do with you." Stiles says firmly and she scoffs.

"Whatever. Lets go." Lacey responds.

"Wait, I didn't mean it like that." Stiles says.

"Yes, you did. Lets just do this." Lacey says without sparing him a glance.

.·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·.

They make their way up to the main quarantine area, making their way over to Natalie when they see her. "Stiles, you're not looking so good, maybe you ought to lie down." She suggests before looking at the blonde. "Especially you, Lacey. With your medical history." She adds.

"We're fine." Lacey says.

"Yeah, it's okay. Have you seen Mr Yukimura?" Stiles asks.

"Yeah, he's fine, he's helping the other students." She responds.

"Okay." Stiles says and the two of them start to move away before he hesitates and Lacey frowns at him slightly. "Is Coach the only adult who got sick today?" Stiles asks and Lacey glances at the quarantine pod before looking back at Natalie.

"As far as I know." She responds.

"Why is he the only one?" Stiles mutters.

"Stiles?" Ms Martin says and he looks up at her. "I think you should lie down. Both of you." She says, looking at Lacey pointedly.

"Yeah, no, it's okay. We'll be back. We'll be right back." Stiles says before resting a hand on Lacey's shoulder and they both run out into the hall. "You keep doing that. Are you okay?" He asks when Lacey presses the palm of her hand to her chest.

"I'm fine. It's a nerves thing. I do it whenever I get ill." She says and he nods before leading her to Coach's office.

"Look everywhere." Stiles says and Lacey starts on the draws of his desk.

"What are we even looking for?" She asks as she rummages through Coach's things.

"I don't know. It'll make sense when we see it." Stiles responds.

"There's nothing here." Lacey says when Stiles slams something shut behind her.

"There has to be something." Stiles responds and she rubs her forehead before catching herself on the chair when she has another brief dizzy spell. "You okay?" He asks and she nods, dropping into the chair. "Hey, what are those?" Stiles asks, gesturing to the stack of papers on Coach's desk.

"What he was doing last, I assume. You know, before he got this stupid virus and got sick." Lacey responds, rubbing her forehead and Stiles grabs them, starting to look through them. Lacey leans forwards when the red ink slowly starts fading with each one before clear black ink appears on the next. She looks up before grabbing Coach's mug when she sees it and showing Stiles the handle. "We all touched the ink." She says and he glances at her.

"I know who it is." Stiles says and she looks over at him.

"I was wondering how that idiot got sick." The two of them jump slightly, standing up when they hear someone's voice and Stiles pushes Lacey slightly behind him instinctively.

"Really should have guessed that one. You're creepy as fuck. And way too calm." Lacey says and he smirks briefly at the blonde.

"I'm also wondering where your friends are." He says and Stiles pushes Lacey slightly further back at he attaches the silencer to the gun in his hand. "Since in order to get paid by The Benefactor, I need to have proof they're dead."

"Visual confirmation." Stiles says and Lacey glances at him before the other guy points the gun at him.

"Exactly." He responds.

Stiles pushes Lacey in front of him when the assassin leads them into the locker rooms. "You two still look feverish, Mr Stilinski, Miss Dunbar. But you should know something. The virus doesn't kill humans, you'll get better. So don't you think you should tell me where they are?" He asks. "Shouldn't at least you two get to live?" He asks.

"I think I saw them in the library." Stiles says. "Or it might have been the cafeteria." He adds.

"You know it could have been the science lab." Lacey chimes in.

"Maybe." Stiles agrees. "It was definitely one of those three though." Stiles says.

"Oh, yeah. Had to be." Lacey says.

"I'm going to count to three, and then I'm going to kill you. And then your girlfriend." He says.

"Not his girlfriend." Lacey responds without thinking, turning to look at Stiles just in time to see him turning around.

"Think you can scare me?" Stiles asks.

"No, I think I can kill you." He responds. "I just thought the countdown would make it more exciting." He adds.

"Dude, my own heart could kill me any second. Literally. I mean, I have died." Lacey says, still stood slightly behind Stiles.

"So maybe I'll start with you." He suggests but Stiles just pushes her further behind him. "One," He starts, pressing the gun to Stiles' forehead. "Two," He continues and Lacey gently squeezes Stiles' hand when he grabs hers before jumping at the gunshot, glancing around Stiles to see the assassin drop to the floor with a gunshot wound in his forehead while Stiles spits.

"Oh, I am not telling my mother about this part."

Lacey glances at the dead guy before Stiles, who's face was covered in blood. "You want a tissue? I have tissues." She offers and Stiles looks at her incredulously. "Okay, no then." She responds before they look up to see someone in one of the hazmat suits take off the helmet. "Do we know him?" Lacey whispers.

"Scott's Dad." Stiles whispers back and she nods before waving slightly awkwardly. "Where the hell did you come from?" Stiles asks.

"Stiles, listen. I got a call from Melissa. I don't know what it means. She said there's an antidote. It's in the vault, reishi mushrooms." He says.

"Wait, what in the vault?" Stiles asks.

"It's in a jar on one of the shelves. She said to tell Scott, it's in the vault." Scott's Dad says and Stiles glances at Lacey before grabbing her arm and running out of the room.

"Thank you!" Lacey calls as she follows Stiles down to the basement.

"Hey, Scott? Scotty? In the vault, in there with you. It's called reishi mushrooms. Scott!" Stiles shouts through the wall as he bangs on it and Lacey stands just behind him. "Scott, open the door!" Stiles shouts. "It's in there with you. It's in a jar, it's on one of the shelves. Scott! Scott, can you hear me?" Stiles shouts, still slamming his hand against the wall.

"Hey," Lacey says, crouching down in front of Stiles when he drops to the floor.

"Don't." He says.

"Hey, he heard you. You know he heard you." Lacey says.

"Don't do that, Lacey. Don't flip to optimism now." Stiles says.

"He heard you." She says before they look at the entrance when it starts moving, Lacey pulling Stiles out of the way. "Oh, I am so glad I didn't just lie to you." Lacey says and Stiles shoots her an incredulous look as Scott lands in front of them.

.·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·.

She stands in the doorway when both boys make their way to their girlfriends, not wanting to get in the way before nodding at Scott and making her way upstairs instead.

"Lacey?" The blonde whips around to see her Mom stood there when she gets upstairs before running over to her. "Oh, thank God." Cathy says, resting a hand on the back of her daughter's head as she hugs her and Lacey wraps her arms around her mother. "God, I was so worried about you. Are you okay? Your heart-"

"I'm okay. I'm okay. I promise. I'm fine." Lacey says as her mother pulls away to check her over. "I'm okay." Lacey says when he mother meets her eyes before hugging her tight again.

"God, don't you ever do that to me again." Cathy says.

"Okay. I think I can handle that." Lacey responds.

"We need to get home. Liam's been pacing a hole in the floor since we heard what was happening." Cathy says and Lacey huffs out a laugh.

"I'm not even going to pretend to be surprised." Lacey responds and Cathy smiles.

"Lacey?" The blonde turns around to see Malia stood there.

"Yeah?" She asks,

"Did you know?" Malia asks.

"About?" Lacey asks.

"My name. On the list. What it is?" Malia asks.

"Not until I was alone with Stiles. I told him to tell you." Lacey responds.

"You haven't lied to me?" Malia asks and Lacey shakes her head before making a slightly surprised noise when the werecoyote hugs her. "Can you give me a ride to school from now on?" She asks.

"Yeah. Sure." Lacey responds and Malia nods before letting go of her and walking out of the school.

"What was all that about?" Cathy asks.

"That is a long story, Mom." Lacey responds.

"Got it. Secret teenager stuff. As long as you stay safe, I'll stay out of it. Let's go home." Cathy says and Lacey nods before following her mother out of the building.

Lacey grunts as a solid form collides with her the second she steps into the house before she hugs Liam back. "Was it-" He trails off, knowing their parents could hear.

"I'll tell you later." She whispers back and he nods before hugging her tight.

"Don't do that to me." Liam says.

"I'm sorry." Lacey responds and he hugs her tighter.
