.·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·.
Lacey was freaking out.
She'd been gone for fifteen minutes to get a drink and something to eat from the vending machine and when she got back, Liam was gone. She couldn't for the life of her figure out where the hell her brother could have gone with a potentially broken leg. "This cannot be happening. I did not lose my immobile brother in a hospital." Lacey says incredulously, looking around the room. "How stupid do I have to be to lose someone who is literally hopping around?" The blonde asks, looking around.
She tries calling him multiple times and probably sends about a hundred messages but gets no response from her brother. She sits on the edge of the bed for a few moments, tapping her foot as she tries to think of a way to explain this to her step-father before her eyes widen slightly in realisation. Lacey pulls her phone out, catching it when it slips from between her fingers. "Please, please, please, have your location on." Lacey mutters to herself as she taps on the screen, trying to find Liam's location.
She frowns at the address, trying to figure out if she recognised it or if she'd be using Google Maps to find it. Because that didn't sound like it'd be very fun.
.·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·.
In the end, she had to use Google Maps and she somehow managed to make six wrong turns. When she gets to the house, she pockets her phone, pushing the door open when she hears a muffled yell to see three people falling to the bottom of the stairs. "I feel like I should apologise for opening the door." Lacey says, frowning slightly at the three of them.
"Go. Go." Liam says, wriggling free from the two teenagers and pushing his sister slightly as he breaks out into a run, dragging her with him.
Lacey doesn't realise how weird it was that her brother was running rather than hopping until they stop three streets over. "What the hell?" Lacey exclaims and Liam looks at his sister.
"I don't know! They kidnapped me! After Scott bit me!" Liam exclaims.
"I'm sorry? He bit you? Are you sure? Are you sure you haven't hit your head? Should I take you back to the hospital so they can check you for a concussion?" Lacey asks.
"He bit me!" Liam exclaims, pulling up his sleeve and showing her the bloody bite mark.
"Oh, my God. That's disgusting. Put it away. Put it away." Lacey says, gagging slightly and Liam pulls his sleeve down.
"Your concern is suffocating." He responds and she rolls her eyes. "How did you find me anyway?" Liam asks.
"Well, I got back to the hospital room and you weren't there. So, I spent a hot minute freaking out, wondering how I lost someone who had a broken leg and was literally hopping around before trying to call you a bunch and sending you north of a hundred messages, I realised I could see your location with Find My Friend. And then I used Google Maps to get here." Lacey says and he frowns at her slightly.
"You tried calling me and when I didn't answer, you thought texting would work?" Liam asks.
"I was worried. I didn't exactly think things through, Liam!" Lacey defends. "Can we please go home now? And we need to figure out how to explain your miraculously healed leg. We'll figure out why Scott bit you later." She says and he nods.
Lacey and Liam had fumbled their way through an excuse that went something along the lines of 'Liam's leg felt fine, so we decided to take off' and their mother one hundred percent didn't believe it, but she seemed to realise there was no point arguing against both of them when they were working together. And when they got upstairs, Lacey pulled her brother to the bathroom and cleaned out the bite mark on his arm and bandaging it for him, planning to tell their mother he scraped it if she asked.
.·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·.
In the morning, Liam is gone before Lacey can offer him a ride and their Mom told her he'd said he was walking to school. Which confused Lacey even more because she couldn't figure out why her brother would walk three miles to school when he could get the bus with Mason, Violet and Garret or get a lift from her. But she shrugged it off, kissing her mother's cheek as she grabs an apple from the kitchen island. Lacey grabs her keys from the hooks beside the door before heading down to her car.
She swings her bag over her shoulder as she climbs out of her car, pulling out a book as soon as she's off the car park and throwing her apple core in the bin on her way past. She squeals slightly when someone bumps into her, fumbling with her book before the other person catches it. Lacey meets their eye before narrowing her eyes at them. "No. You kidnapped my brother." Lacey says, taking her book off him before walking off and Stiles rushes after her.
"Technically, Scott kidnapped him, I just aided and abetted." Stiles says and she spins around to look at him.
"No. No, there is no 'technically'. You two idiots broke his leg, maybe, Scott apparently bit him and then you kidnapped him! No 'technically', Stiles. I still don't understand why his leg is now okay after he couldn't stand on it." Lacey says and he sighs.
"Okay, technically, I guess you're right there. I'm sorry?" Stiles says and she rolls her eyes.
"I'm not the one you should be apologising to. You didn't kidnap me." Lacey says and he nods. "I need to go." She says, turning around to walk off. She heads straight for her brother when she sees him stood with Mason.
"You ran three miles to school?" Mason asks.
"You did what?" Lacey asks and Liam looks over at his sister.
"I just started running." Liam responds.
"I guess your leg's okay?" Mason questions as Liam tries to catch his breath. "What happened to your arm?" He asks and Liam glances at Lacey.
"Uh, I found a stray cat on the way home from the hospital last night and when I tried to pick it up, it scratched him." Lacey says, rubbing the back of her neck and Mason frowns at her slightly, more than likely thinking of all the times she'd expressed her hatred of cats. "I don't like them, but I'm not cruel. It was cold." Lacey says and Mason rolls his eyes at the blonde before they both cast a glance at Liam to see him leaning over the railing beside him.
"Dude, are you okay?" Mason asks as they step over to him. Lacey watches her brother look up before following his line of sight to see Scott stood there.
"I'll talk to you later. I gotta get to class." Liam says and Lacey watches him leave with a slightly concerned frown.
"I feel like we should be following him." Mason says.
"I'll do it. I'll get him to catch up with you later, okay?" Lacey says, resting a hand on Mason's shoulder and he nods slightly at the blonde.
"Okay, see you later, Lace." Mason says and she smiles at him briefly before taking off after Liam, speeding up when she sees Stiles and Scott stood on either side of him.
"Liam. We're brothers now." She hears Scott says.
"What?" Liam asks, confusion clear on his face.
"Excuse me, he's my brother, not yours. And I told you to apologise to him. Not to harass him." Lacey says, moving to stand opposite her brother.
"Oh, God. That's," Stiles trails off slightly.
"What are you talking about? We just met and you bit me." Liam says, incredulously.
"The bite- The bite is a gift." Scott says and Lacey frowns in confusion.
"Scott, stop. Please stop." Stiles says, moving past Liam and towards him. "You, you, we're trying to help you, you little runt." Stiles says, pointing at Liam.
"Hey! Don't call him a runt!" Lacey exclaims defensively.
"By kidnapping me?" Liam asks, taking a much calmer approach.
"Just to clarify, Scott kidnapped you. Okay? I aided and abetted." Stiles says.
"Oh, my God! Would you stop with the aiding and abetting? Helping to murder someone is just as bad as flat out murdering someone!" Lacey exclaims.
"Okay, let's just make clear the drastic jump from kidnapping to murder and the fact that it was never a jump we were planning on making." Stiles says, pointing at the blonde.
"Liam, I've gone through this before. Something's happening to you. Something big." Scott says.
"Nothing's happening to me." Liam says and Lacey's eyes widen when he rips of the bandage to reveal his unmarked arm. "Nothing." He reiterates before taking off down the hall and Lacey lingers beside the two boys, staring at her brother stunned.
"He had a bite mark there last night. I know he did. I bandaged it. Bite marks don't heal overnight. Broken legs don't heal in a matter of hours. What the hell is happening to my brother?" Lacey asks, turning to look at the two boys.
"Lacey," Scott starts.
"No. Don't 'Lacey' me, McCall. Give me a straight, goddamn answer about what the hell is happening to my brother." Lacey demands.
"Okay. Come with us." Stiles says before the two of them lead the blonde down the hall.
.·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·.
Lacey sits opposite the two boys in the library, staring at them for a moment before snorting in amusement. "You two are funny." Lacey says.
"We're serious." Stiles says and she stares at them.
"No, you're not." Lacey says.
"Yes, we are." Scott insists and she looks between them.
"Werewolves? You want me to believe werewolves?" Lacey asks and the two boys share a look before looking back at the blonde and Lacey moves up out of her chair when Scott's eyes glow red. "What the ever-loving hell?" Lacey exclaims before the librarian shushes her.
"Lacey, sit down, please." Scott says and the blonde sits down with her chair pushed away from the table.
"Werewolves?" Lacey asks and both boys nod. "This is insane. I hope you understand that." The blonde says.
"I can see why you might think that, yes." Stiles says and she hums, glancing up to see Lydia, Malia and an unfamiliar girl making their way over to them.
"Hi, I'm Kira." The unfamiliar girl says, offering the blonde a smile and Lacey shakes her offered hand awkwardly.
The redhead places a leather-bound book on the table in front of them and Lacey raises a brow. "I'm not signing anything to join a cult. I know how that ends." Lacey says.
"It's not a contract, Lacey." Lydia says, opening the book. "It's a bestiary. I figured you'd probably want to see this before Stiles attempted his terrible chess board method." Lydia adds.
"It is not terrible." Stiles says.
"We get to play chess? I love chess! Can we play chess instead?" Lacey asks.
"Not right now." Lydia says before Stiles can speak and the two of them deflate slightly. "Look, you can borrow this and look through it. It's labelled. If you have any questions. The top number is mine and the bottom is Stiles'. We'll have a better chance at answering any questions you may have." Lydia says, placing a piece of paper down in front of her.
"Labelled how?" Lacey asks, looking at the sticky tabs in the book.
"There's a key in the back. It's a loose piece of paper." Lydia says and Lacey pulls the paper out of the back, looking over the key.
"Okay. Thanks. Mind if I keep this for a little while?" Lacey asks.
"Go ahead. But we might need to borrow it if any issues of the supernatural variety arise." Lydia responds and Lacey nods.
"I'll show you the chess explanation another time." Stiles says and Lacey glances up at him.
"Or we could just play chess." Lacey suggests.
"I'm not a huge chess person but we can give it ago. The chessboard is my Dad's." Stiles says.
"Okay. Well, I have class. I'll text if I have any issues." Lacey says, already reading the book, glancing at the key occasionally when she sees the sticky squares on the pages.
.·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·.
Lacey walks through the hall after class a little while later, looking up when she hears a slight thud to see Kira on the floor at the bottom of the stairs and Liam running over to her. Lacey frowns slightly at the two of them as Liam crouches down. "Are you okay?" Liam asks and Kira looks up, propping her head up on her hand.
"Yeah. Fine. You want to go to a party tonight?" She asks and Lacey raises a brow. "Lacey's coming, aren't you?" Kira asks, turning to look at the blonde, giving her a pointed look when she hesitates.
"Oh, yeah. Yeah. Sure." Lacey says.
"See?" Kira says, turning back to smile at Liam and the boy nods. "Great. I'll pick you up at seven." Kira says and Lacey helps the girl up.
"What?" Lacey whispers.
"Stiles is picking you up. They'll explain." Kira whispers back before shifting away with a smile and heading down the hall.
.·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·.
Lacey sends Stiles a response to his text later on, asking for her address. Lydia had texted earlier to tell her that they were using the party as a ruse to host an intervention for Liam. Lacey felt bad about being part of a lie directed at her brother but she knew it was a necessary evil to make sure he acknowledged the fact that werewolves were apparently real.
There honestly wasn't much in the bestiary about werewolves that Lacey hadn't already known, except for the fact that silver didn't actually kill them. She'd have probably gone for silver bullets before reading the bestiary. So, that was nice to know.
The page that she had to say had surprised her the most was the page about hunters. She had to admit, when she'd seen the page titled 'Hunters', she'd expected something cool. Like them being something along the lines of Nick from Grimm with the ability to see things that regular people couldn't.
But no, they were just regular, slightly racist and genocidal people who hated supernatural creatures and were set out to kill them.
Kind of lame, really. Especially in comparison to all the other stuff that was supposedly out there.
Like sirens. She had to admit, she'd gotten far too excited when she saw the sirens page because it was probably the supernatural myth she'd looked into the most prior to learning they were real.
She'd just always loved sirens.
.·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·.
Lacey heads downstairs with her purse slung over her shoulder when she gets a text from Stiles saying he was outside. She jogs out to the car, climbing into the backseat when she sees Malia and Stiles in the Jeep. "We just need to pick up Lydia, then we'll head to the lake house." Stiles says and Lacey nods.
"Okay, that's cool. Uh, I had a question about one of the tabs in the bestiary." Lacey says as he starts the car and he glances at her in the rear view mirror briefly as he drives. "Are you still a fox demon hellbent on chaos, strife and pain or are we all good? Just wanna know if I need to give you a little bit of space in eventful situations." Lacey says and he hesitates slightly. "Like, we're still all good if you are a fox demon, I just wanna know if I'm going to have to step back and let you be a little sadistic. I mean, it's nothing to be ashamed of. I derive great amusement from pain sometimes." Lacey says and he frowns at her in the mirror.
"Like when a kid falls off a swing." Malia says.
"Yeah! Exactly!" Lacey grins, gesturing at the girl.
"Wow, remind me to never suggest you two for a babysitting job. Or to ever let you near kids." Stiles says and they both shrug. "Uh, to answer your question, I am not a fox demon anymore." Stiles says and she nods.
"Cool. Cool. So long as I'm not alone in this human thing. Because I'd like to say I know basic self-defence but I can barely throw a punch, so that'd be a flat-out lie." Lacey says.
"You're good." Stiles says and she nods.
"Why do you have a bag?" Malia asks.
"Uh, I brought the bestiary with me. I figured I'm not really going to be contributing much with this whole intervention thing, so, I may as well have something to do if shit goes sideways." Lacey shrugs, patting her bag. "That and I take a book with me everywhere I go. A book, a pen and a packet of sticky notes. Only I don't need the sticky notes or the pen because you guys took care of that for me." Lacey says with a shrug as they pull up outside Lydia's house and the redhead climbs into the Jeep, having already been waiting outside.
"How's the bestiary going?" Lydia asks as Stiles starts driving again.
"Great. Oh, sirens, yay or nay?" Lacey asks.
"Nay." Stiles responds immediately and Lacey pouts.
"Bummer." She says.
"Stiles had a bad experience with one." Lydia says in a loud whisper.
"She tried to drown me! I'd call that a little more than a bad experience!" Stiles exclaims and Lydia rolls her eyes at Lacey making the blonde smile slightly.
She knew she probably shouldn't trust them all so easily but she couldn't help it. There was just something about them that made them really trust-worthy. Even if Scott and Stiles did kidnap her brother. At least the girls hadn't broken any laws that she knew of. Except for Malia betting with the Coach but Lacey couldn't really judge because she'd done that too.
"Any other questions?" Lydia asks.
"I'm good for now. Other than, do you mind if I make my own version of this?" Lacey asks and Lydia smiles.
"Go ahead. It's nice to see someone around here taking initiative." Lydia says and Lacey nods. "Just make sure nobody else finds it." She says and Lacey nods again.
"Got it." The blonde responds, checking her phone briefly, swiping away the message on her lock screen without reading it when she sees the name.
.·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·.
The four of them sit in silence for a little while until Stiles speaks up, breaking it. "So, why did you move to Beacon Hills?" Lacey glances over at him.
"Because Liam did and I'm stubborn." Lacey responds.
"Right and why did Liam move?" Stiles pushes and Lacey sighs, chewing on her bottom lip.
"Listen, at Devenford, everyone was an asshole. Especially on the lacrosse team. And especially the teachers. Yes, Liam went too far but he didn't do it because he was bored. He was pushed into it. They knew it could happen and they kept pushing him until they had him backed into a corner." Lacey says.
"Didn't do what because he was bored?" Lydia asks.
"There was this teacher. He was a real asshole. Especially to Liam. It was like he had it out for him or something. And one day, Liam just snapped. He got so angry. And he just- Well, he got revenge." The blonde says.
"How bad was it?" Lydia asks.
"He took a crowbar to his car and scratched the words 'This is your fault' into the side of it in capital letters." Lacey says, fiddling with her bag strap.
"Do you have a picture?" The redhead asks and Lacey sighs, grabbing her phone.
"I don't know if I deleted it. The lacrosse team got their hands on a picture and circulated it to the whole school." Lacey says, swiping through her gallery for the picture. She hesitates when she finds it, reluctant to show the rest of them. "Do you really have to see it? Because Liam's really sorry about it and as far as I know he doesn't have any intention of destroying anymore cars." Lacey says.
"Lacey, he's a werewolf now. We need to know how much damage he was capable of human to gauge how bad it could get with him as a werewolf." Stiles says and she sighs before passing her phone to Lydia.
"Liam did this?" She asks and Lacey nods slightly as the redhead moves the phone into Stiles and Malia's line of sight.
"Jesus, Lacey." Stiles says and she groans.
"We came to Beacon Hills for a fresh start, okay? If everyone starts finding out why we moved schools, he's never going to get that." She says, taking her phone back from Lydia.
They settle back into a slightly more awkward silence at the new information until they get to the lake house where the four of them wait by the side of the Jeep for Scott.
Lacey shifts slightly when Scott pulls up on his bike, climbing off as he places his helmet on the handle. "I just talked to Kira. She's on her way. She said it's all going fine." Scott says when Stiles steps towards him.
"No, it's not that. I have something to tell you." Stiles says. "We asked Lacey about Liam. Why he got kicked out of his last school and why the two of them moved." Stiles says and Lacey sighs, passing her phone to Stiles when he holds his hand out towards her.
"This is going to be bad, isn't it?" Scott asks
"He kind of got into it with one of his teachers. And, the kid's got some serious anger issues." Stiles says.
"Hey, you could phrase it a little bit more delicately. Okay? He feels really bad about it." Lacey says defensively.
"How serious?" Scott asks and Stiles taps on the screen to stop it from going dark.
"Well, that's his teacher's car. After he took a crowbar to it." Stiles says and Lacey sighs as she looks at the looks on their faces.
"Okay, that's enough. He is not a bad person. Okay? He has a little trouble controlling his anger but he is not a freaking lunatic or something." Lacey says impatiently as she takes her phone off Scott, putting it away.
She'd seen that identical look on far too many faces since and she was sick of it, quite frankly, she was just sick of it.
"Lacey," Stiles starts.
"No. Just drop it." The blonde says, putting her phone away and folding her arms over her chest, following them inside when they head in.
She leans against the wall a little bit away from them, checking her text messages. Since the picture circulated, Lacey had received the brunt of the messages about it from the other students. Which, while she was glad about it, because Liam didn't need to see what some of the other students were saying, was really starting to get on her nerves. She didn't get why they were still talking about it. They'd left. There was no need to keep it as a source of conversation.
.·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·.
She looks up when the door opens, pocketing her phone as Liam and Kira walk in. "Lace? What is this?" Liam asks, turning briefly as Kira shuts the door, standing in front of it.
"Sorry." She says and Lacey sighs.
"What the hell is this?" Liam asks, looking at the others in the room.
"Think of it like an intervention." Stiles responds. "You have a problem, Liam." He adds and Lacey chews her bottom lip.
"And we're the only ones that can help." Scott continues, shifting forwards slightly.
Lacey stands out of the way while they try their best to give Liam a rough overview of the supernatural world to get him to believe them.
"Werewolf?" He points at Scott and the boy nods.
"Werecoyote?" Malia nods as Liam points to her next.
"Banshee." Lydia inclines her head slightly, lifting a finger when Liam gestures to her next.
He turns to look at Kira next, "Fox?"
"Kitsune. But fox works." She responds and Liam turns back to look at Stiles.
"What are you?" Liam asks, his arms folded over his chest.
"Uh, for a little while, I was possessed by an evil spirit. It was very evil." Stiles responds and Lydia and Malia both nod slightly.
"What are you now?" He pushes and the corner of Lacey's lips quirk up slightly.
"Better. Um," Lacey rubs her forehead slightly incredulously at how badly this was going.
"Are those for me?" Liam asks, nodding at the chains on the table.
"No, they're for me." Malia corrects, her eyes glowing blue and a small part of Lacey found that incredibly hot.
"How did you do that?" Liam asks, looking slightly freaked out.
"You'll learn." Scott responds. "But first, you need to get through the full moon."
"The moon's already out." Liam retorts and Lacey glances at the window to see the moon was in fact, already out.
"And you're starting to feel something, aren't you?" Scott asks.
"I feel like I'm surrounded by a bunch of psychotic nutjobs. You guys are out of your freaking minds. Lacey, what the hell are we doing here?" He asks.
"They're trying to help, Li. Will you please just let them help you? For me?" Lacey asks gently, ignoring Scott and Stiles' attempts to stop her as she rests a hand on his arm.
"No! I don't know how you did that eye thing and I don't care. I'm walking out the door right now!" Liam shouts. "If any of you try to stop me, I swear to God, I'm gonna-" Lacey's eyes widen but Lydia moves forwards to pull the blonde away from her brother when he grips his head with a pained exclamation.
"What's wrong, Liam?" Scott asks and Lacey frowns, moving towards the window when she sees a light, slightly moving the curtain aside.
"You don't hear that?" Liam asks.
"Uh, guys?" Lacey says and Lydia moves towards her.
"Did you tell someone about this?" She asks, looking at the youngest Dunbar.
"My friend, Mason." Liam responds and Lacey's eyes widen slightly.
Since when did Mason know so many people.
"You said it was a party." Liam adds.
"Who did Mason invite?" Stiles asks.
"Uh, well, it kind of looks like everyone." Lacey says, rubbing the back of her neck as she looks out the window and Kira nods in agreement.
"Definitely everyone." The kitsune agrees as Liam drops to the floor, his claws extended.
"The floors! Get him off the floors!" Lydia exclaims when he scratches at them slightly before roaring.
"We need to get him to the boathouse - now!" Scott announces and Lacey watches, feeling slightly helpless as he and Kira get her brother out of the lake house before Malia groans.
"Stiles?" The werecoyote says.
"Yeah?" He asks, looking at her and Lacey's eyes widen when Malia turns around with glowing blue eyes before roaring at Stiles. "Hey! Okay, basement. Now. Now!" Stiles says, pushing his girlfriend towards the basement door as he grabs the chains.
"What am I supposed to do with the hordes gathering outside the door?" Lydia asks frantically.
"Lydia, who throws the best parties in Beacon Hills?" Stiles asks.
"What? Me! Obviously!" Lydia exclaims, almost sounding offended and Lacey can't help the tiny amused smile.
"Okay! Then throw a party." Stiles says before glancing at Lacey. "You, help." He says before following Malia and Lacey makes a strangled noise before looking at Lydia.
"Please don't make me do this. I don't like crowds. They make me uneasy." Lacey says.
"I'm not asking you to interact. Just make sure nobody goes upstairs or towards the basement or the back." Lydia says and Lacey whimpers softly as Lydia moves towards the door.
"Oh, God." Lacey whispers before following Lydia to the door with a slight hesitation in her steps just in time for her opening the door.
"Hey, uh, are we in the right place?" Mason asks, frowning at Lacey in confusion.
"For the party." Garrett adds when neither of them respond.
"Absolutely." Lydia says a moment later and the entire crowd of teenagers let out a cheer.
"I hate everything about this." Lacey whispers and Lydia pats her arm.
.·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·.
Lacey spends the party flitting around, mostly avoiding people she'd seen. Like Mason. And Harvey Kingston. Who she definitely didn't want to deal with. "Woah, hey. No. Upstairs is off limits. There's a bathroom down here." Lacey says, ducking in front of two teens heading up the stairs.
"Seriously?" The boy asks and she gestures for them to turn around with her finger before flicking it at them, gesturing for them to head back down the stairs and they both roll their eyes before doing so.
"You're good at this." Lydia remarks.
"Well, I've mastered being a buzzkill." Lacey responds and Lydia hums with slight smile as they two girls head into the kitchen to see someone wheeling a keg in. "You ordered beer?" Lacey asks and Lydia shakes her head.
"No." Lydia says before moving towards him. "Okay, I didn't order a keg of beer. Especially not domestic." Lydia says.
"Somebody ordered it. Are you trying to tell me nobody here wants a drink?" The man, Demarco according to his nametag, says.
Lydia sighs, glancing at Lacey, who just shrugs, before looking around the kitchen, her eyes landing on a glass sitting on an open laptop. "Who put this here? This laptop is two thousand dollars." Lydia says, moving it and closing the laptop before she spots Garrett with a bottle of wine in his hand. "Oh, and that bottle of wine is four hundred." She snatches it away from him before looking back at Demarco. "How much?" She asks and he passes her a bill. "What's this extra hundred dollars?" Lydia questions.
"I call that the 'Yes, you do look twenty-one to me' surcharge." Demarco says before winking and Lacey rolls her eyes at the same time as Lydia before the redhead puts the bottle down to the side.
"Let me get you some cash." Lydia sighs before rushing off, tugging Lacey with her.
"Why am I coming?" Lacey asks.
"Because someone's going upstairs and I need your buzzkill expertise." Lydia says and Lacey snorts in amusement.
"Liam? You up here?" Lacey hears Mason call as they walk up the stairs. "Dude, where the hell are you?" He asks as they round the corner before following him into a room that was very bright.
"Jesus Christ, Lydia. Does your family know there are colours other than white?" Lacey asks, squinting slightly as Mason turns around.
"What are you doing up here? The party's downstairs." Lydia says.
"I was looking for Liam." Mason says, glancing at Lacey and the blonde shrugs.
"Sorry, but missing freshmen are a little low on my priority list." Lydia says.
"But not so low that you don't know he's a freshman?" Mason asks as Lydia walks through the room.
"I know he's Lacey's freshman brother." Lydia corrects and Lacey waves slightly at Mason when he glances at her while Lydia turns around with two glasses in her hand. "I might have seen your friend. Downstairs." She says, grabbing his wrist and moving towards the door before accidentally dropping the glasses, getting wine all over the carpet.
"Oh, my God. The carpet." Lydia says, crouching down.
"Okay, Mason, time to go. Downstairs. Now." Lacey says forcefully before pushing the boy towards the door.
"Lacey-" He starts.
"Not now. Go downstairs. Now. And do not let anyone else up here." Lacey says and he nods before heading back downstairs. Lacey sighs before moving to crouch in front of Lydia where the redhead is using her cardigan to try and clean the carpet. "Lydia, hey. It'll come out. We just need some baking soda, water and a white cloth." Lacey says. "Or club soda." She offers and Lydia scoffs. "Lydia, I'm sure Mason's sorry. Was it valuable?" Lacey asks and Lydia sighs.
"No. That's the problem. Nothing in here's valuable." Lydia says, sitting back and Lacey frowns.
"But earlier," Lacey trails off.
"I know. We just put the house on the market. It was supposed to be left without a scratch. It has to be left in perfect condition. We need every penny we can get out of this place." Lydia says.
"Lydia, hey," Lacey says softly and the redhead looks over at her. "It'll come out. I promise. I've gotten worse stains out of white carpet before." The blonde says and Lydia hesitates slightly before nodding and offering the girl a small smile before glancing at the door.
"I can't hear the music." Lydia says and Lacey frowns in confusion.
"What are you talking about?" Lacey asks.
"I can't hear the music downstairs." Lydia says and Lacey looks up to see the door shut. Mason must have shut it on his way out.
The blonde watches Lydia get up, heading over to the door, getting up when the sound of the music downstairs floods the room once she opens the door before stopping completely when she closes the door again. Before she repeats the action, turning to look at Lacey. "Why do you have a soundproofed room in your lake house?" The blonde asks and Lydia shakes her head slightly as she turns back around.
Lacey watches in confusion as Lydia moves towards the record player at the side of the room, turning it on. She watches the redhead look up at the wall before moving towards her and lightly touching her shoulder. "Lydia?" Lacey says and the redhead looks over at the blonde before looking back at the wall.

The door swings open a few moments later and Kira walks in, glancing at Lacey before looking at Lydia. "Hey." She says, moving forwards. "Lydia? Are you okay?" Kira asks, glancing at Lacey and the blonde shakes her head, a confused frown on her face. "What do you hear?" The kitsune asks.
"Banshee thing?" Lacey whispers and Kira nods.
"Maybe." The fox responds.
"The key." Lydia says and both girls look back at her. "The key to break the code." She adds.
"I'm going to go send everyone home." Lacey says and Kira nods at her before the blonde moves past her and downstairs.
Lacey walks straight over to the radio blasting music before yanking out the plug, drawing a massive exclamation from everyone present. "Put the drinks down and go home! Or better yet, take the drinks with you. Get out. Don't make me ask twice. I'm not as nice as I look." Lacey says loudly.
"She's not lying." Someone says and Lacey narrows her eyes at Harvey Kingston when she sees him leaning against a wall.
People start reluctantly filing out of the lake house, Harvey lingering behind slightly and making his way over to the blonde. "Me moving schools wasn't enough of a hint for you? I told you we're done and I don't want anything to do with you anymore." Lacey says, her arms folded over her chest.
"Relax, blondie. I just thought you'd want this back." Harvey says, pulling a book out of his pocket before holding it out to her and she takes it from him. "You left it at my place." He says and she glances at the book before looking up at him.
"Thank you." Lacey says and he nods.
"You're at a party. Did someone pay you?" Harvey asks and she rolls her eyes.
"No. I'm just here to kill the fun. Stop people from heading upstairs to get frisky in the bedrooms and evidently end the fun all together." Lacey says and he hums before kissing her cheek.
"Night Lace." He says before walking out of the lake house and she watches him go.
"Hey, who was that?" Stiles asks from behind her and she glances over at him.
"My ex." Lacey says.
"Was he bothering you?" Stiles asks.
"No. Just giving me a book back. Everything go okay downstairs?" Lacey asks.
"Well, I'm not dead." Stiles responds and Lacey hums.
"That was a concern?" Lacey asks.
"When trapped in a basement with an out of control werecoyote? Definitely." Stiles responds and she hums.
"Sounds like a hoot." Lacey says dryly and he chuckles.

Lacey sit on the hood of Stiles' Jeep with him later that night while they wait to go home. "Did you have anymore questions about you read in the Bestiary?" Stiles asks as people start re-joining them.
"Not really. I mean, I kind of expected more." Lacey admits.
"More? From what? What was in there wasn't enough to scare you and impress you?" Stiles asks.
"Well, some of it was. But I mean, the section about hunters was a bit boring. I mean, I expected something cool like, have you ever seen Grimm?" Lacey asks and he shakes his head. "Well, I thought they'd be like the main character in Grimm but no, they're just racist douchebags who are pretty much working to commit genocide." Lacey says and Stiles looks at her before laughing. "What?" She asks.
Stiles clears his throat, as he calms down. "Uh, Lacey, this is Chris Argent." He says, gesturing to the man beside Scott with a hint of an amused look on his face and Lacey presses her lips together before looking at Stiles.
"As in-" He nods, cutting her off and she hums. "And you didn't think to stop me before I put my foot in my mouth?" Lacey asks.
"Well, I didn't think you were going to call hunters 'racist douchebags on their way to committing genocide'." Stiles says.
"I hate you right now." Lacey says.
"I can live with that. That was priceless." Stiles responds before Lacey looks back at the hunter.
"I'm sorry." She says and he chuckles.
"It's okay. It's probably one of the most accurate descriptions of hunters I've heard." Chris says. "I'd just refrain from saying that to any other hunters." He says and she nods.
"Noted." Lacey says.
"If you have any questions that these can't answer, get Scott to pass them through." He says and she nods.
"Thanks." Lacey says.
"We broke the code." Lydia says and everyone looks over at her and Kira to see the Banshee holding her laptop. "It's a list." She says.
"Like a fun list?" Lacey asks.
"A list of all the supernaturals in Beacon Hills. It's a Deadpool." Lydia says.
"And we're all on it." Kira finishes.
"Well, you are. We're good." Lacey says, gesturing at herself, Stiles and Argent.
"Lacey." Liam groans and she shrugs.
"Sorry."
