Chapter 29 The Boogeyman (Episode 6)
Guys, I need help. I actually suck at making a cover book when it comes to a person, not cartoons or anime.
I was about to publish my Opposite Attraction (NCIS Fanfiction) however, I need someone to make a cover book of Michael Weatherly and Angel Locsin.
I really appreciate it if you guys make one for me and I'll dedicate the chapter to you guys. ~Mira

Dale Carnegie said, "When dealing with people, remember you are not dealing with creatures of logic, but creatures of emotion."
Sometimes when it comes to revenge, we're letting our emotions taken over and didn't even think of the consequences. In the end, some people regrets, horrified or satisfied of their intentions. That's what Elle did, she already avenged the women who took their innocence by this man, William Lee.
Why did she need to confront him? Detective Callahan and her team can take care of it knowing they know who the Unsub is. Did she not trust them enough because she's still blaming Hotch for sending her home? ~Novilene Cruz
She's The One
F.B.I Headquarters ||Quantico, Virginia ||
Novilene knows that Elle is still avoiding her because she can see right through her lies. She even told Hotch about Elle is lying about to them on that night and pleading not to tell Elle of this discussion. Hotch agreed to know Elle is going confront her about selling her out to him.
Once Elle is out of Hotch office, she quietly comes inside to see him. "How was it?" Novilene asks her Unit Chief.
"You're right about her." Hotch answered and stared at the young woman. "How did you manage to become strong after all that hell you've been through?" He asks her curiously.
"I don't want the history repeat itself." She licks her lips and stared at Hotch. "I've seen worse in my whole life. Sometimes we win, sometimes we lose. There are times that I've been living in guilt."
"A guilt for what?"
"A guilt for not saving people often because you're too late for them." Novilene clasping her hands together. "The only thing I move forward is to save what I can do best. Not letting them suffer as we experience before."
"You're a strong woman, Cruz. I just wish Elle could admit it to us." He sighs heavily.
"Me too."
Knock!
JJ opened the door and looked shocked to see Novilene is with Hotch in a deep conversation. She felt bad for interrupting them but they have a new case.
"You guys have a new case at Ozona, Texas." JJ informed them.
"We'll be right over." Hotch told JJ and she nodded her head.
Hotch and Novilene followed JJ to the conference room as the media Liaison is going to brief the BAU team excluding Elle.
"Nicholas Faye of Ozona, Texas." JJ showed them the picture of the dead boy while Novilene cringed of seeing it. "Was beaten to death roughly 13 hours ago. Blunt force trauma to the head. He's the second young boy in Ozona to die the same death in the last 2 months. Local Hunter found his body in the woods. The first victim's name Robbie Davis."
"Are these boys connected somehow?" Morgan asks JJ curiously.
"Ozona's population roughly 2,500. Everyone has some kind of connection."
"Well, if they weren't linked before, they most certainly are now." He examined the pictures.
"Both children murdered by the same offender." Novilene commented with a solemn look. "Hunting children."
She's The One
Hotch is not with them at the present but only Reid, Morgan, Gideon, Novilene and JJ are going to take the case today.
"You guys hear Elle was cleared?" Reid asks them.
"Self-defense." Morgan answered.
"So it was a good shoot." He pointed out and Novilene shakes her head mentally.
"She hit what she was aimin' for." JJ pointed out.
"That's not what I meant." Reid said bluntly.
"If she was cleared. How come she's not here with us or Hotch?" Morgan asks curiously and glancing at Novilene. Wondering if the young woman knows about it or not.
"Focus on the case." Gideon informed them.
"Ozona Police and autopsy report for Nicholas Faye and Robbie Davis." JJ explained and handed the paper to Gideon.
"Well, the bludgeoning could suggest for frustration or rage." Morgan commented.
"With no apparent sexual motivation." Reid pointed out.
"That's rare when the victims are this young." Novilene commented and reading the paper.
"This Unsub seems to be taking pleasure from the kill itself." Gideon spoke up.
"So if it's not sexual, what's the significance of targeting young males?" Morgan asks curiously.
"Most serial killers prey upon specific types to carry out their fantasies of revenge." Reid answered. "Bundy killed women that looked like an ex-girlfriend who jilted him. Dahmer claimed that schoolyard harassment fed into his fury."
"Ok, so then maybe these kids represent someone who victimized the offender." Morgan commented.
"Like a young male from his past." Novilene spoke up and wanting to wear glasses instead of contact lenses. "Maybe a bully, an older brother, someone who abused him."
"No, that's unlikely." JJ answered as she ends up the call. "They just found another body. 11-year-old girl."
"A girl this time?" She asks her with a disbelief expression.
"Why would the victimology just suddenly change?" Reid questioned and looked speechless just as Novilene did.
"Maybe the girl wasn't the target." Morgan pointed out. "Maybe she just got in the way."
"Or the sex of his victim isn't significant." Gideon spoke up. "The pace he's killing certainly indicates a velocity of change."
"We can surveil every kid in Ozona. How are supposed to keep 'em all safe?" JJ asks them curiously.
"Enforce a curfew?" Reid suggested and Novilene raises her right eyebrow towards him.
"Those children don't deserve to worry about something like that." Novilene commented and sighs heavily. "I hate this."
"Tell me about it." JJ agreed with her. "The woods were the only thing I was afraid of when I was a kid."
"Seriously?" Morgan asks in a disbelief tone. "Thought you grew up in a small town."
"Yeah, surrounded by woods."
"Bummer for you." He smirked.
"Yeah." She rolls her eyes while Novilene shakes her head.
"My great-grandparents lives in the mountains back in the Philippines." Novilene spoke up. "In every April, Ma and the others, including myself needs to visit them because it's a festival."
"They do?" Morgan questions her curiously.
"Yeah. Mostly of Ma's relatives lives in there and to be honest? I despise some people." She shakes her head and shrugged. "Flirting me whenever I went to visit a place."
"Wow, can't say I blame them." JJ teased Novilene and she playfully glared at her.
"Hardy har, har, J." She sarcastically smiled.
"Your great-grandparents lives in a mountain mostly surrounded by forest." Morgan commented. "Only thing I was afraid of was the dark."
"Some of us still are." Reid commented and Novilene gently grips his hand while he returned the gesture.
"When we land, Morgan, Cruz and Reid, go to the new crime scene." Gideon ordered them. "The little girl. I'll look at the scene where Nicholas Faye was found."
She's The One
"This is just a quarter mile from where the 2 boys were killed. Bludgeoned to death the same way." The Deputy informed the Agents.
"Not entirely true." Coroner spoke up and zipping the dead body. "I found some markings on her scalp that indicated that-that psycho beat her post-mortem."
"Suggest the Unsub is getting more brazen." Reid explained while Novilene is observing her surroundings.
"He is getting brazen all right. I've bagged 3 children in the last month."
"Now he's spending more time with the victims even after death." Morgan pointed out. "He had to know he wasn't gonna be interrupted, but how?"
"How could he be so sure?" Novilene throws a rhetorical question.
"The forest goes for miles and miles, but nobody's goes walkin' in it." Coroner answered. "Unless they're lookin' to kill."
"Or maybe the Unsub is on a hunt?" Novilene muttering herself and approaching the tree that has a yellow paper on it says, 'State Park Land Hunting Area'.
"A hunt." Morgan commented and approached Reid. "In which case, you don't want to be on the trail. Reid and Cruz, whoever killed these children, is very familiar with this area. In my opinion, he probably lives in Ozona his whole life."
"Me too." Novilene agreed with him. "Despite I went to the province to meet up my great-grandparents, I'm still struggling of familiarizing the trail."
Whoever killed them, he or she must pay for his or her crimes. Novilene hates someone of murdering innocent children.
She's The One
"First and foremost, it's something we call the buddy system." JJ spoke up and stared at the children. "That means you always go everywhere with a friend."
"My friend is right. " Novilene spoke up as herself and JJ are going to talk children whereas Morgan, Reid and Gideon are taking care of the adults. "Because bad men and women are more likely to talk to us. Only when we're by ourselves."
"We don't know what these guys look like yet. Might be someone you know." She pointed out while crosses her arms.
"Yes, sweetie. You have a question for us?" Novilene asks the little girl curiously.
"There was this little girl once on the news, who just got grabbed right in front of her house." The little girl answered and Novilene blinks her eyes three times. "Could that happen to us?" She asks them worriedly.
Novilene masking her worried and hating the fact of lying in front of the children, especially their parents or guardians are listening. "Nothing's going happen to anyone of you." She assured the little girl. "As long as you remember to stay with your friends or parents all the time, okay?"
She's The One
Novilene sighs and something missing about the case. She couldn't point out what it is. "Can I have your attention, please?" Gideon asks everyone in this Department. "Good afternoon. I want to make something clear. Due to the velocity of change, we predict this offender could try to strike again anytime. His confident builds with every attack."
"Look for someone physically fit, shy, kind disposition, someone you may trust with your own child. Because the killer targets kids, hey may be small himself." Morgan profiled the Unsub. "And though we keep referring to this Unsub as 'he', do not rule out a woman."
"Excuse me." A heavily pregnant woman approached them with a child holding her hands.
"Chief, you're gonna want to hear this." One of the Officers told him.
"My son Matthew never came home today." The pregnant woman informed them and Novilene closes her eyes.
"Here we go." Morgan muttered.
"When was he last seen?" Gideon asks the woman worriedly.
"His teacher saw him in the parking lot after school." The woman answered.
"Reid and Cruz, the grid at the school zone." Morgan pointed out of the map.
"If the boy was abducted, then this area would be the most secluded nearby." Reid answered and Novilene nodded her head.
"So Jones can put his guys at the gas station-"
"Cruz, I need you." JJ called her seeing she has no experience of being Pediatric Doctor before.
"Sure." Novilene excuses herself and kneels down right next to JJ. "How old is Matthew?" She asks her curiously and not wanting to stress her out.
"Uh, he turned 8 in August." The woman answered.
"I have a niece that's 8." JJ told her and Novilene is examining the pregnant woman. "Very resourceful at that age."
"What are you thinkin' about over here?" Gideon asks the little boy curiously.
"Nothing." The little boy lied.
"Well, you look awful upset to be thinkin' about nothin'." He pointed out.
"Is there something you're being upset?" Novilene asks the little boy knowing her and Gideon that this boy is hiding from them. "It seems to us you have a secret. Who doesn't want to share."
"Secret's important." Gideon pointed out.
"Is it about your brother?" She asks him curiously.
"Honey, is that true?" The woman asks her son. "Are you hidin' somethin'?" She asks worriedly.
"You want to protect him, right?" Novilene questioned him. "I have a brother too, that's what siblings for. Keeping a secret not to reveal to anyone."
"Matty said he was just gonna ring the doorbell." The little boy answered. "At the haunted house... on the hill."
"An abandoned house is-" She was cut off by someone.
"Finnegan's place." The Guidance Counsellor intervened.
"Who's Finnegan?" Gideon questioned him.
"This old guy who lives in that house." The little boy answered.
"Forever. Kind of a local legend." Chief Jones answered. "Ghost story."
"About?" Reid asks him curiously.
"Supposedly, he watches the kids from his window... hunts 'em, skins 'em, eats 'em." He shrugged his shoulder. "Standards."
"Folks have been tellin' that story since I was a kid." The Guidance Counsellor informed them.
"Why haven't we heard about this?" Morgan questioned them.
"Ghost story or not." Novilene spoke up. "Are often sparked by an ounce of truth. We should exhaust every possibility for this, whether it is a rumor or not."
"She's right." Morgan agreed with her.
She's The One
"Hello, love. What can I do for you?" Benji asks her curiously. "A better question is, do you have sex with this new boyfriend of yours." Teasing the young woman and she spluttered in response.
"Yo-yo-yo-you moron!" She whispered angrily as her cheeks are red from embarrassed. "I'm not here talking about my sex life. I need your help."
"You need to get laid, love." He smirked but she only growled in response. "Jeez, no need to growl like a dog."
"Look..." She sighs heavily and having enough of these sex jokes. "Can you trace Elle Greenaway, for me please?" Novilene asks him.
"Why?" He started to track one of Novilene's friend. "Is she missing? and you can't ask one of your IT?"
"I know that Garcia will tell Hotch about it, you're my best bet. Since they don't know you much very well as I do." Novilene massages her neck and not knowing Reid is eyeing her all the time. "I'm on a case right now, track her every now and then. I'll call you once it's over."
"No problemo. Just explained everything to me later." He assured her. "Good luck."
"Thanks." She ended the call.
"Reid." Morgan whispered and nudging his shoulder. "You've been eyeing her a lot."
"Wha-what?" He stuttered and blushed of getting caught by him.
"Man, you're whipped." He snickered and smirked. "I bet you-"
Novilene slaps Morgan's head and scoffs. "You think you're getting away with that shenanigans scheme of yours, Derek Morgan." She glared at him and walked away.
"Ow..." He whimpered and clutching his head. "Man, she packs a punch."
"It's your fault for winding her up." Reid shakes his head. "We should get ourselves ready now."
She's The One
Novilene and the others went to Finnegan's house to check if the boy is their or not. "Sure looks like a haunted house." Reid commented while Novilene silently prays there is no doll, ghost and clown or she might do something stupid that could embarrass her in front of people.
"Morgan, you and Jones take the front." Gideon ordered them. "Reid, Cruz and I will cover the outbuildings."
Novilene readied her gun and checking their surroundings. "Ah!" She immediately went to Reid's direction.
"Spen?" Novilene called her boyfriend worriedly.
"I-I-I'm fine." He stuttered and shaking off his nerves seeing the head of a deer behind him.
"Why did you scream?" She asks him curiously.
"It's just a deer head." Reid answered and Novilene nodded her head in understanding.
Novilene went another direction and see silhouette person. "FBI. Don't move." She ordered the person while holding the gun and flashlight in her hands.
"Okay." Hearing the voice of the boy.
"Matthew?" Novilene asks in a soft tone and approaching the boy slowly. "Are you hurt, sweetie?"
"No." The boy answered.
"Come here, dear." Placing her gun back to the holster. "You're fine now."
"I didn't want the old man to find me." The boy told her and whimpered.
"It's alright. No one is going to hurt you on my watch." She assured her and turning around to see Reid and Gideon are watching her. "Come on. My dad will look after you okay?"
"Okay." The boy answered.
Novilene handed the boy to Gideon. "He's a bit traumatize... other than that, he's completely unharmed." She explained it to him.
"Thanks." Gideon thanked his daughter. "You and Reid need to go inside his house to see if you could find any information about him."
"Sure." She nodded her head and went inside the house together with Reid. "I hate this."
"The haunted house?" Reid asks her curiously.
"Yeah... aside from that as well." She laughs nervously and puts a brave smile on her face. "Come on."
Reid stared at her with a skeptical look on his face and followed her. They went to Finnegan's drawers to see if they could find any helpful resources about him. He called Garcia to search for his information.
"Only that Finnegan's house on the hill is like Bates Motel of Ozona, Texas." Garcia spoke up through Reid's phone when he puts a speaker on.
"Yeah, we heard the legend." Novilene spoke up bluntly while holding the flashlights and phone whereas he's scheming the papers.
"Reid and Ms Holmes, seriously, people that go into that house supposedly never come out. Spooky~." The Tech Analyst teased the two young geniuses.
"Lope, back to the case please?" Novilene asks and gripping the flashlight in anger. "If you don't, say goodbye to your precious laptop because I can ask someone to put a virus it." She threatened her in a sweet tone.
"She's right." Reid agreed with her. "Could you please pretend not to enjoy that rumor so much, since we've actually entered the house."
"Jeez, you can be so scary." She pouts. "The rumors are true about you being 'The Terror'."
"Back to the task at hand, local police say there are no reports of that actually happening." Novilene pointed out.
"This is true." Garcia types something on the keyboard. "All complaints files were false alarms. But then there is that matter of his missing wife."
"Wife? What wife? When did she go missing?" Reid asks Garcia curiously.
"Almost 50 years ago." Garcia answered.
"No record of her ever being found?" Novilene asks in a serious tone and didn't notice he's quietly scared inside of the house just them.
"I got two words for you my friend- rear window, that guy probably chopped that lady up into-" She was cut off by Novilene.
"Penelope Garcia." Reid jumped up of her sudden cold tone. "After this case, I'm going to-"
"EEP! BYE!" Garcia ends the call immediately and not wanting to finish her threatening.
They heard the door creak and Novilene immediately readies her gun. Her heart skips a beat in fear and turning around to point at Morgan's face. "You prick, I could've shot you by now." Novilene spoke angrily and putting her gun back.
"You really are afraid of the dark." Morgan commented and noticed Reid is terrified of the dark despite he has Novilene by his side.
"I'm workin' on that." Reid spoke up and ignored his smirk.
"You should work a little harder." Morgan spoke up and stared at her curiously. "You can be a bit scary, mini Gideon."
"My Deputy got the boy home safe." Chief Jones informed them. "Turns out the poor kid got spooked by a tree branch."
"This whole town's on edge." Morgan spoke up and dropping off his teasing towards Reid.
"Maybe that's why Finnegan's in the wind." Gideon pointed out.
"Hey, this is interesting." They see full of different weapons like knives, shotgun and snipers.
"The Unsub didn't use a gun when he brutally killed the children." Novilene pointed out.
"Bet he knows in every trail in Ozona." Gideon spoke up. "Finnegan's an avid hunter. why didn't he use a..." He stopped and grabbed the small blue bag with a name. "Robbie Davis."
"First victim." Chief Jones answered.
"Sarah P." Novilene spoke up and grabs the pink bag. "It's Sarah Peterson, isn't it?" She asks the Chief curiously.
"I guess Finnegan brought the kids back here first before baitin' 'em into the woods." Morgan pointed out. "But why wouldn't he get rid of the evidence?"
"Considers them trophies." Reid answered.
"When this is all said and done, I'd like to hang his head on my wall." He walked out of the house.
She's The One
They found Finnegan's dead body before they could even ask a question about him. "First blush, it looks like Joseph Finnegan died of natural causes." Coroner spoke up.
" His heart probably gave out while he was setting this." Reid explained while he's observing the death trap.
"Yeah, karma's a bitch. Those coyotes were gnawing on him for a week.
"Before the second and third murders ever happened." Morgan pointed out.
"This area's off the traveled path. It's a wonder anyone discovered him at all." Reid spoke up.
"It's a wonder anyone discovered him at all." Novilene commented.
"Is it? Those leaves didn't cover him up by themselves." Coroner pointed out.
"He's right. The Deputy may not have been the first to avoid to find him." Morgan spoke up.
"But our only suspect's been cleared." Reid commented and Novilene nodded her head.
"Square one?" Morgan asks the father and daughter curiously.
"No. If Finnegan's been dead all this time, who's living in his house?" Gideon questioned his teammates. "Let's go."
She's The One
"Here's a question - if a tree falls in the forest, does it make a sound?" Reid asks his girlfriend curiously. "If there's nobody there to hear it?"
"The tree falls and create a sound, Spen." Novilene spoke up with a deadpanned expression. "It's stupid for a tree to fall without a sound. Not unless if it's a leaf."
"What the hell are you readin' over there?" Morgan asks the young Doctor curiously.
"I was just thinking." Reid answered.
"The Unsub found Finnegan's corpse in a lightly traveled part of the woods, and no one else knew." He explained and sits right next to Novilene. "So he was able to use this house, and no one answer."
"Actually, I was referring to Finnegan's wife."
"What are you talking about?" He questioned them and noticed Novilene's expression.
"She rumored missing, perhaps killed almost 50 years ago, when, in actuality, she left Finnegan for another man." Reid explained.
"Is that his journal?" Novilene questioned him and pointing the notebook in his hands.
"Yeah. He writes about it in his journals, how he would look out the window on a daily basis to see if she would come home." He showed them the journal.
"She never did and the poor man left heartbroken." She shakes her head.
"You're right about that, Lenny. He ended up turning into a recluse that people in town misunderstood."
"That started to spread the rumors about Finnegan's haunted house." Novilene connected the dots.
"Found something." Gideon called his three Agents. "Come here."
Novilene observed the kitchen covered with takeaway containers. She noticed some of the leftovers are fresh and wondered who stayed here whereas Finnegan is dead?
"Provisions, delivered by the church." Gideon explained it to them. "To every elder's doorstep, each one dated after Finnegan died."
"Wow, and they say I'm the big eater." Novilene commented sarcastically and observing the containers especially the trashcan.
"So the Unsub ate everything." Morgan spoke up.
"No." She reads the content of not being opened. "Unopened bowls of creamed spinach, thrown into the trash, each one wrapped with duct tape."
"With one in each tray." Reid spoke up.
"So we're lookin' for a guy who really, really hates spinach." Morgan commented sarcastically.
"Who doesn't?" He asks and Novilene raises her right eyebrow. "You don't hate it."
"Ritualized, meticulous, organized." Gideon changes the subject.
"He would eat with the same particulars." Novilene pointed out.
"Full prints." Gideon's phone ring. "Have Garcia run 'em for a match. Hotch." He excuses himself to answer it.
"It's about Elle, isn't it?" Reid asks Morgan and Novilene once Gideon disappear.
"I don't know." Morgan answered and glancing at Novilene who remained silent.
"You know, Lenny let me talked to her in Ohio." He informed him.
"Reid, we all talked to her." He assured him.
"What he means to say, he talked to her before Elle went undercover back at the hotel we stayed. He went to her room one night and saw her drinking." Novilene spoke up and crossing her arms.
"She almost died." Morgan pointed out knowing she experiences this near death-life situation before. "I'd be drinkin', too. Too bad you're allergic to it."
"Meh... whether I have allergic to it or not, I hate drinking." She shrugged her shoulders and saw him walked away.
"Lenny?" Reid called his girlfriend. "Have you spoken to her, yet?"
"She's avoiding me, Spen." Novilene pursed her lips and patting his shoulder. "I'll talk to her, don't worry."
She's The One
JJ, Morgan, Reid and Novilene are having their coffee break.
"Why the woods, JJ?" Morgan asks JJ curiously.
"Hmm?" She hums while drinking her coffee.
"Your fear." He elaborates it. "You said it was of the woods." Morgan was not surprised by Novilene's huge portion of food.
"Uh, I used to be a Camp Counselor when I was a teenager." JJ started to explain her fear. "In the woods up in Vermont, and the night shift- tuck the girls in, turn off the lights, you know, the typical drill. Everything seemed fine, all the kids were asleep. You know, nothing seemed out of the ordinary... until I noticed that there was some blood on the hallway floor, so I followed the blood trail out to the Camp Director's cabin, walked up to his bed, and he was just lying there underneath his covers... dead. Someone stabbed him. I ran out of there so fast. Out the door, down the hall. I just remember it being really dark." Novilene hides her smirked and eats the strawberry calmly whereas Morgan and Reid listened to JJ's story. "Once I got to the door, there was another Counselor there. I guess she heard me scream. They caught the Caretaker on his way to town. I guess he still had the knife on him. Anyway, I guess that's probably when I decided I didn't like the woods."
"You're serious?" He asks the blonde woman.
JJ stared at him with a serious expression then shakes her head. "No." She scoffs seeing the boys fell for her lies whereas Novilene didn't. "No, I... you fell for that? Come on, I don't know why I'm afraid of the woods. Cruz, how come you didn't tell us your fear?" She pointed the young woman.
"Promise me you won't laugh?" She pleads at them.
"We won't." Morgan assured her but deep inside, Novilene didn't trust him even one bit.
"Three things." She exhales. "Dolls, ghost and clowns."
"No way!?" He laughs and couldn't believe the young woman is scared of them. "You being serious, mini Gideon?"
"I am!" She exclaimed and ignoring her blushed. "When I was between 9-10 years old, my two Aunts, Maurice and Martha, decided to watch a horror film about Chucky the doll or something..." Novilene shakes her head. "Anyway, long story short. I was playing with my doll in the living room while my Aunts watched that movie. They didn't know I was there and watched the whole movie. Later on, I am completely terrified of the doll and I burned all my collections especially the vintage one."
"You did?" JJ asks her with a disbelief look on her face. "Cruz, it cost a lot of fortune to buy vintage dolls."
"I know." Novilene sighs heavily and couldn't forget her mom's enraged of her burning them. "I was like having hallucination seeing my dolls holds the knife to kill me."
"What about the clown?" Reid questioned her.
"Uncle Jacob, my mom's brother, wears a clown costume." Staring at the ceiling. "It was actually during Halloween's Day and 8 at that time. Jacob scared the hell out of me aside from his costume, he adds special effects like covering his clothes in fake blood while holding a fake knife. Jacob was laughing like a maniac and I scream, cuddling up to my grandma for 5 months. I've been stuck with her like two peas in a pod."
"Wow, I feel sorry for you." JJ spoke up and patted her hands. "Ghost?"
"I don't even know why I'm scared of the ghost." She shrugged and couldn't remember why she's afraid of it when it's not real. "Why are you scared of the dark, Spen."
"Because of the inherent absence of light." Reid lied and mentally cringed the fact Novilene is a human lie detector. He was surprised of her not saying anything but squeezing his hands gently.
"Oh." JJ scoffs and not believe his explanation.
"JJ, that was pretty good. Just remember, paybacks are a bitch." Morgan compliments her. "Man, mini Gideon. You scared of three little things." He smirked and accepts the call.
"I'm shaking." JJ mocked Morgan.
"Hey, girl, you got somethin' good for me?" He asks Garcia on the phone.
Novilene noticed Morgan's sudden behavior changed and he ended the call. "Call Gideon. We just found our Unsub."
She's The One
James Charles is the Unsub who killed the children. Chief Jones approached them. "You sure about this? Charles?" He asks them curiously.
"Born and raised in Ozona, knows the territory works with children." Reid explained.
"Highly organized, slight in stature, injected himself into the investigation." Morgan pointed out.
"Anything happen the last 6 months that would have changed his life?" Gideon questioned.
"His wife walked out on him and his kid."
"There's your trigger." Novilene spoke up in a grim tone.
"Guys, he's on the move." JJ informed them.
"Not on my watch." She spoke up.
Morgan, Reid and Novilene approached him. "Mr Charles!" Morgan called him as he runs away from them. "Don't do it!"
Novilene thanked the hell training of her IMF days and she runs faster than them. She jumped over the fence and kicking the side of his face to knock him down. Novilene immediately strangled him as Morgan grabs Charles bag to open and revealing a red hat.
"What's this?" Morgan asks Charles. "What's so important about the hat?"
"Nicholas Faye was wearing it when he was murdered." Gideon answered.
She's The One
Reid is playing the handcuffs and trying not to stare at Novilene's body. "You know, it's bad enough his mother left." JJ spoke up. "Now his father's in custody, and we gotta take the poor kid into child services." She's going to call someone.
"It's the Law." Reid pointed out.
"So's Jaywalking, but I don't have to like it." She stared at Novilene. "You're planning to adopt another kid, Cruz?"
"Huh?" Novilene snapped out her thoughts and blinking her eyes. "As much I would love to, I can't. Kevin and Alex are trying their best not to kill each other knowing Ma won't be pleased to see them bickering each other."
"Figures." She smirked and placing her phone to her ear. "Good afternoon, this is Agent Jareau, with the FBI. We're going to be picking up Jeffrey Charles in about 20 minutes. If... okay, I see." She ended the call.
"What is it?" She questioned her and JJ ignore her as she headed towards Gideon and Chief Jones.
"Jeffrey never arrived at school today." JJ informed Gideon. "His father said he was sick."
"We need to check Charles house." Novilene spoke up. "We need to find clues cause I have a feeling that his son is going to kill someone next."
"Go." Gideon commanded them.
"Come with me, Spen and JJ." Novilene dragged Reid and JJ to head over Charles house to investigate it.
She's The One
James Charles' House || Ozona, Texas||
Reid, Novilene, JJ and two police officers are going to search for clues. "This is Epi-pen." Novilene spoke up and examining the medicine in deep thoughts.
"Weird." Reid commented and she nodded her head.
"I know." She sighs and placing it down.
Reid walked towards the fridge and opened it to reveal a cartoon of milk covered with it tape. "Think I just found something." He informed JJ and Novilene.
"What is it?" Novilene asks Reid curiously. "My dear gracious and I know why." She calls her father.
"Yeah?" After the one ring from his phone.
"An Epi-pen and a refrigerator that's filled with dairy products that have been sealed with duct tape." Reid explained when Novilene puts on her speaker.
"Thank you. That's helpful." Gideon thanked them and ended the call.
"To think this child murdered such a young age." Novilene spoke up sadly and couldn't imagine it. "The father... I can't.." She shakes her head and crying silently.
JJ hugging the young woman knowing it's a bit sensitive to Novilene when it comes to children. Novilene was a former Pediatric Doctor and working with children is like a therapy to her. Hearing a child killed someone in their own hands, makes Novilene heartbreaks.

They finally manage to caught Jeffrey Charles, the real Unsub who killed children. They save Tracy Belle before she got killed by him.
"I should have said something." Reid spoke up to break the silence.
"To what?" Morgan asks.
"To Gideon or Hotch or any of you guys." Novilene stops playing her pen. "I talked to Elle that night before Lenny. We both knew she wasn't right, but I should have told someone."
"Spen..." Novilene approached him and hold his hand. "Don't do it... blaming yourself like it was your fault for Elle's decision. You were just trying to help a friend." She assured him.
"But-"
"Look at me." She holds his face. "I have to admit, I'm pretty beat myself up for not taking the actions quickly for not seeing this soon. What Elle's decision is, we have no choice but to accept it."
"You experience this one before?" He asks her curiously.
"Yeah." Novilene sits right next to Reid. "When I first joined IMF at the age of 14, I was excited and delighted to be part of them."
"But now?" Morgan questioned her.
"I was a ruthless person when it comes to criminals." She played her thumbs. "I feel like... I was... one of them. The feeling of killing someone, I... couldn't stop doing it. Ethan and Zack noticed how much I changed and pleading our higher officers to look after me. Someone needs to keep me sane, I was part of his team and rarely do a solo mission."
"That's why you had enough of them." He finally realizes why she's being work up of her working with them. "Retiring for good."
"Yeah." Novilene agreed. "We should probably get some rest." Leaning her head on Reid's shoulder which he pulls her close.
She's The One
"You're going to leave without saying goodbye?" Elle stopped hearing a familiar voice. She turned around to see Novilene is approaching her. "I was right about you leaving BAU."
"Cruz." Elle hugged the young woman and she returned the gesture. "I'm not surprised how you managed to find me."
"I'm full of surprises, I guess." Novilene shrugged her shoulder. "Why did you lie about that incident? Revenge?"
"I did what I have to do." She answered and knowing there is no point in her lying. "He is not going-"
"You think that killing someone is the right answer?" She cuts her off. "Elle, I always looked up to you as a sister. Ever since that Fisher King, you change. I can feel our gaps between us."
"There's no point of hiding from you when you can read me like an open book." She snapped her out and Novilene remained silent. "If I'm going to stay their long, I'll never be the same person as you knew before."
"People change because of our job. You knew that I'll be their to stop you whether by force or not." She sighs and staring at the sky. "I still have respect in you and never ever told anyone Hotch about it."
"Why?" She questioned her. "Are you doing this a favor so I could get back my job?"
"No." She answered. "I'm doing this as a friend. Elle, I lost the count of how I kill people because of my own goddamn job."
"Why quitting it? When you're brave enough."
"It's not about bravery, Elle." Novilene sighs heavily. "That job could cause your life and it's way too intense for you or me to handle it. We both experienced it once we killed them."
Elle glared at her and sighs heavily. "I never met anyone like you, Nov."
"Me too." She holds back her tears. "What are you going to do now?"
"I'm not sure... probably find a right job for me." She smiled sadly and going to miss her most. "I'll miss you."
"Me too." Novilene hugging the woman. "Take care of yourself."
"You as well. Don't let Reid go, he's one of the guys who worth fighting for." She pulls away. "Goodbye."
"Paalam (goodbye)." She whispered until Elle leaves out of her sight. Novilene shakes her head. "If we ever cross paths again and repeating the same mistake, I will stop you Elle." Vowing herself and going back home, not knowing someone is watching them.
"When are we going to capture her?" The unknown person asks someone on the phone.
"Soon, we just need an element of surprise to capture her." The caller answered. "She's the key of bringing Alayna Gibbs and the microchip to us."
"Copy that." The person ended the call. "Novilene Cruz, you never know what's coming." The person chuckling evilly.
