Twenty Two

Enter the old, crabby lady, Mrs. Redfox!

"What?" A woman around the age of fifty snapped her pen in half, nostrils flared. The ink exploded all over her paperwork and expensive clothing, the woman cursing loudly and walking out. Her many servants and assistants followed, close in tow. Her short straight hair was salt-and-pepper, purple eyes filled with unmeasurable amounts of rage.

She was once tall, 5'8, but due to old age she got shorter. She's now 5'6.

"M-Miss Redfox, please calm down. Everything will be s-sorted out." A servant stammered.

"You! Whatever your name is, you're fired!" She boomed. "Get out!"

They ran out in tears.

"Show me the files again!" Mrs. Redfox paced around.

"I really don't think you should do that. You've reviewed them 47 times—"

"Fired!" She snapped, two guards taking them away. They all got in an elevator, everything calm for a second as the music chimed.

They stepped out, someone handing her the files.

Meet Dolores Redfox, an entrepreneur with a heart of stone and a golden fist. She's Gajeel and Juvia's mother.

Dolores flipped through the Manila folders of photos that numerous fans and spies took of her son with an ordinary, short, measly peasant! Her pale face was turning more and more red the more she looked at it, her ears were practically spewing smoke and she was shaking at this point. "I just don't understand! Do you?!"

"N-no ma'am," Everyone shook their heads.

Dolores screamed out in fury, yelling for someone to get the phone. An employee knelt with a dial phone in hand. Dolores snapped, that employee standing and trying to keep up the pace. They were struggling with all of the sharp turns she was doing.

She snatched it. "Give me that,"

Dialing Juvia's number, Dolores calmed her temper for a second. Her daughter picked up in around two rings.

"Yes, mother?" Juvia was breastfeeding Lyon.

"Hi Juvia. So.. I'm having a situation." Dolores said through grit teeth.

"Is everything okay? Does Juvia need to come down—" Juvia started, but flinched as Dolores screeched into the phone. She handed Lyon to Gray carefully, who looked at her sorrowfully and patted her back encouragingly.

"I thought I told you to stop the third-person bullshit!" Dolores snarled.

"Juvia is—"

"JUVIA!" Dolores' eye twitched.

"I'm sorry, mother." Juvia whimpered. It wasn't really her fault that she was this way... maybe it was? She didn't really know. "Anyways, is there something wrong? You haven't called me in forever."

"OF COURSE THERE'S SOMETHING WRONG!" Dolores let out a heavy sigh. "Your idiot brother has a girlfriend, right?"

"Y-Yes... he does." Juvia's heart sank.

"Tell him to call me right now."

"B-But—"

"Now."

The call ended.

"Is everything okay?" Gray asked as Juvia sat down on the couch, head in her hands. Tears were rolling down her face. He reached out to her, flinching as she walked away to the window.

It had started to rain...

"No, Gray... Juvia's mother... she knows about Levy and Gajeel!" Juvia cries. "She's so angry! This won't end well, their relationship will have to end! Juvia's mother will be sure of that!"

"Hey hey, it's okay. Your brother can be pretty stupid at times, but he's also really really smart. He'll figure something out," Gray cooed. "Let's go take a nap, okay? The three of us."

Gray led Juvia to the bed, placing Lyon in his crib. Gray fell asleep, but Juvia was restless. If Gajeel and Levy broke up, it would be her fault. She started to sob uncontrollably, Wendy watching in the doorway.

"Mom..?"

Juvia squeaked, covering her face. She looked away as Wendy walked closer.

"Are you alright?"

"Yes, Juvia is f-fine." She sniffled.

"Do you want to talk about it? You don't have to lie to me," Wendy frowned, she was over to cook dinner and chat with her parents. She did this every Sunday.

"I'm fine, really. Just... thinking, that's all." Juvia forced a smile, mascara running. "Don't worry your pretty little head over it. Now go back to what you were doing, little one."

Wendy nodded slowly, walking away. Juvia curled into a tiny ball and started crying again, the storm raging on.

"Gajeel," Juvia's voice was yet a whisper. "Mother has requested that you call her immediately... it's not good."

"Are ya okay? Juv?"

No response, there was a shattered cry before the line disconnected. Gajeel pat Levy's head as she watched a movie, kissing her forehead softly. Much to his dismay, he unwrapped himself from the bundle of blankets and made sure not to knock down any snacks.

Levy grabbed his pants, looking at him with a sad look. "Gajeel? Where are you going..?"

"It's my mom. She wants me to call, I'll be back soon, so don't follow. Be right back. Promise," Gajeel hummed. Levy nodded.

Gajeel dialed his mothers phone number.

"Gajeel." Her voice was hard, hatred and venom laced in it. "You have three seconds to explain to me what's going on. Why are you tarnishing my name!?"

"What are you talking about?" Gajeel raised an eyebrow.

"Dating someone, are you!?" Dolores sneered.

"Yes." Gajeel answered.

"A worthless shorty! You're into those kinds of girls?!" Dolores screeched. "Leave her immediately! Fire her!"

"She's not worthless, mother." Gajeel rolled his eyes. "It isn't your choice to decide who I can date."

"It is! I am your mother—!"

"Mother? That's an odd choice of words," Gajeel spat. The memories were flooding back. All those times he drew something for his mom, she would tell him to go away and ignore him. If he gave it to her, hoping she'd put it on the fridge, she'd throw it away and yelling telling him to focus on his studies. When he wanted her to read a bedtime story to him, like all the normal kids, she lectured him about "growing up". It was as if she took care of him because she had to, not because she loved him.

"Excuse me? Who do you think you're talking to?" Dolores gasped. "I birthed you!"

The two started to scream and yell at each other, no matter how many times they denied it, they were exactly alike. Both of them are extremely stubborn and hard-headed.

Levy had paused the movie, she'd heard Gajeel's enraged voice roaring through the walls. She got off the couch, flipping on the lights as she walked through the house, staying close to the walls.

She peeked around the corner, stepping out after a minute. This was worrying her. "Gajeel..? Are you alright?"

Gajeel's eyes snapped to hers and he sighed loudly, pinching the bridge of his nose. Levy could hear a woman's voice screaming.

"I told you to stay put, did I not?" His voice was harsh, Levy flinching.

"B-But I—"

"Did I not?" He spat.

"I just came to see if you were okay!" Levy frowned, feeling guilty. Gajeel sighed, hearing his mother yell in his ear.

"But I told ya to stay put!" Gajeel snapped.

"Yes, But—"

"GAJEEL! Pronunciation!" Dolores exclaimed angrily.

"LEVY! Go on, we'll talk later." Gajeel shooed her, waving his hands.

"Gajeel, I—"

"GO AWAY, NOW." Gajeel scowled. Levy's eyes filled with tears, he'd never done this before. He usually would answer her and tell her kindly to leave... she just wanted to make sure he was alright....

She ran away, running into her room and slamming the door. Erza peeked around the corner, looking at Gajeel and then to the staircase.

"Oh? That's her? See what a disobedient mongrel she is? LEAVE HER!" She yelled, plopping down on a loveseat.

"No. That's final," Gajeel grumbled. "I'm not leaving her no matter what."

"You know what? I am coming to Russia this instant," Dolores stood up, scheduling a flight in 30 seconds or less.

Gajeel sighed loudly. "You're not staying in my house."

"I know that, idiot." Dolores smirked. "I'm getting an Airbnb."

"Are you serious? Just stay where you are!" Gajeel groaned.

"I am not letting my son date a pathetic commoner!" Dolores yelled. The two started arguing yet again.

Levy covered her ears as she sat on her bed, book in her lap. How could she read with that noise? It was partially her fault, though. She frowned, had she listened would this be happening? She had her own will though...

Levy started to mutter to herself, nibbling on her index finger. "ああ、レビー。なぜあなたはそうなの....ガー!" ("Gosh, Levy. Why are you so.... Gah!" She rolled around in the bed. "Zbyt dużo przemyślisz rzeczy!" ("You overthink things way too much!")

"Woah there," Erza chuckled. "Calm down, Levy. Jeez, how many languages do you even speak?"

Levy blushed. "Oh... hello, Erza."

"What's on your mind?" Erza sat on the bed. "Fifty Shades of Grey? Levy, you're into these kinds of novels? I'd like to recommend you—"

Levy's face turned red. "E-ERZA!Give that back!"

"No can do, I've gotta see where you're at!" Erza snickered.

"OMG, Levy, what page are you on? Did you get to the part where—" Jellal winked.

"We are NOT talking about where I'm at in the book!" Levy's face was rivaling the color of Erza's hair.

The three of them started to wrestle for the book, but then the bedroom door flung open and the book flew right into Gajeel's hands.

He looked at them, Erza was straddling Jellal BUT was choking him at the exact same time, he pleaded mercy, Levy was beet red and was pointing at Gajeel. "HE'S HERE!"

His eyes travelled down to the page it was on, a tint of pink appearing on his cheeks as his eyes widened. "Um... is this a bad time..?"

"AH! GIVE THAT BACK, PLEASE." Levy was so embarrassed, she could just die. Gajeel handed it back, covering his mouth as he started to blush even more. What the hell did he just read? They had sex scenes in BOOKS? W h a t ?

"Okay well," Gajeel coughed awkwardly. "Sorry for yelling at you. You were trying to make sure I was okay. I had no right to snap like that."

"Mhmm." Levy nodded, kicking Jellal softly to make sure he's not dead.

"And also EVERYONE BE ON YOUR BEST BEHAVIOR, my moms coming." Gajeel states simply, Jellal and Erza groaned.

"Ugh." Erza sighed loudly. "Now I have to go clean my room."

"Yeah man, you leave way too many strawberry cake wrappers and boxes everywhere. We're gonna get ants, Erza." Jellal sweat.

"Tch." Erza went to go clean up her room.

"I'll go help!" Jellal walked away.

And so, Levy and Gajeel were alone.

"My mom is coming." Gajeel repeated. "You really have to be on your best behavior. If she asks, no we have NOT gone on any vacations or trips."

"Okay," Levy nodded. "I'm gonna switch to working mode!"

"Working mode? Aren't you always on working mode?" Gajeel chuckled.

"No! You haven't seen my final form yet!" Levy giggled. "Are you ready, Gajeel? Are you ready for my working wrath!"

"Are you some kind of villain?" Gajeel laughed.

"You'd better watch out." Levy put a fist in the air. "Watch out for Omega Levy!"

"Omega Levy? Yeah, okay." Gajeel snickered. The two resumed their movie date.
