Twenty Seven

White Walls and Twisted Halls

"Levy!" Lucy rushes into the hospital room, seeing Gajeel who looked like he hadn't slept in days, Erza who was holding a deck of Uno cards and glaring at Jellal, and Jellal who smirked.

"Two more cards left," He snickered. "Hey Lucy. She's not up yet,"

They were in a hospital room. White walls, bedsheets, white everything...

Gajeel's eyes were glued onto Levy as he held her hand.

"I came as soon as I heard," Lucy rested a hand on Gajeel's back.

"We brought all the collectors edition Fairy Tail copies!" Natsu had a big box in hand. "Lucy even left some original copies and drafts,"

"Juvia's here too," Gajeel's voice was low and emotionless. He sounded completely drained. "She's just in the bathroom changing Lyon and Gray went to the vending machine."

"Oh," Natsu punched Gajeel playfully. "Lighten up, man! Levy's a tough one, she'll be fine!"

"What happened, anyway?" Lucy asked. "I kinda hung up without letting Juvia explain."

"She had an anxiety attack," Erza answered for Gajeel, whom rested his head in his hands sadly.

"It's my fault. I shouldn't have pushed so hard," Gajeel grumbled.

"It's partially Mrs. Redfox's fault too, she just suddenly called Levy's dad." Jellal noted. "He was threatening her."

"Must be hard," Lucy frowned. "I hope she wakes up soon."

"Juvia does too," Juvia nodded, holding Lyon.

"Hey, got the chips." Gray held up multiple varieties. "Sup Lucy. Oh, you're here too, Natsu."

"Hey! Why'd your voice drop like that!?" Natsu stood up abruptly. "You wanna go, stripper!?"

"Stripper! Where did that come from!" Gray exclaimed.

"Cause strippers are gay!" (No offense to any strippers out there, Natsu's just an idiot.) Natsu smirked.

"Gay my ass! Let's go!" The two started to fight, Lucy and Juvia sighing loudly.

"Boys!" Erza glared.

"Aish! Sorry..." Natsu and Gray jumped away from eachother.

"Jeez Gajeel," Natsu shivered. "Erza is scary." But Gajeel didn't respond. Not even a single sound came out of his mouth.

"Want some?" Gray frowned, holding out a bag of barbecue chips. "I know these are your favorite,"

"No." Gajeel shook his head. "I'm not hungry."

"But Sir!" Jellal looked away from his game of Uno, this was really worrying him. "You haven't eaten in two days!"

"You think I give a fuck!?" Gajeel snarled. "I said I'm not hungry! This is my fault, so I'm not gonna do anything until Levy wakes up! It's all my fault..." Gajeel sniffled, starting to cry.

"Oh shit." Erza muttered. "I've never seen the big guy cry before."

"Don't cry, Gajeel," Juvia whispered, brushing her hands through her brothers hair. "It's okay."

"No! Nothing is okay!" Gajeel yelled. "She's been having nightmares because of me—"

"You don't know that," Jellal piped in, trying to convince Gajeel it's not his fault.

"OF COURSE I DO! She won't even look at me!" He cried. "Why am I like this!"

Levy's eyebrows furrowed, there was a really annoying beeping sound. Her eyes fluttered open, she shut them again because it was too bright. She smacked her lips, parched. Levy glanced at the bedside table, tons of beautiful flowers and a glass of water sat there.

She sipped it slowly, the desert inside of her throat turned into a beautiful forest.

"Levy!" Everyone cries at once, crushing her in a big hug. Levy closed her eyes, enjoying the warmth from everyone.

"Thank god you're okay!" Lucy grinned.

"We were all so worried about you!" Erza exclaimed. "Don't pull something like that ever again!"

"Aagh! Juvia is so glad that you're alive! Now you have to tell Juvia what's going on," Juvia hummed, sitting on the edge of the bed. "Gajeel was crying for you."

"H-HEY!" Gajeel wiped his eyes. "I wasn't crying! I don't cry!"

"Lies," Gray and Natsu snickered in unison.

Levy was silent, she really wasn't in the mood to talk.

"You really need to tell us what's going on inside your head, Levy," Lucy said softly. "We're all worried sick. We only mean well,"

Levy shook her head.

"Please, Levy!" Jellal have her the puppy dog eyes. "Whoever it is giving you nightmares like this, we'll all jump them on the side of the road, and Natsu will be tapping it, and it'll go all over the internet, and then we'll probably go to jail for assault, and then we'll bail ourselves out because we're super rich, and then we'll jump them again because nobody messes with our Levy, and then we'll go get ice cream as we run from the cops, and then—"

"Okay that's enough," Erza face palmed. "In all seriousness Levy, at least tell Gajeel. He's more worried than all of us combined."

Levy glanced at Gajeel, who walked over to her and sat on the edge of the bed. He twirled a finger in her hair.

"Good morning," He smirked. His nose, eyes and cheeks were a soft pink. He frowned softly as Levy still hadn't spoken. "Are you okay? Should I get a doctor?"

Levy shook her head.

"Maybe she's not in the mood for talking," Lucy hummed.

"Maybe," Natsu grinned. "Want any food, Levy? We got chips!"

"If you don't want that, we can always order something else." Gray said softly.

Levy shook her head.

"Why won't you talk to us?" Juvia frowned deeply.

"We really just need to know," Erza smiled encouragingly. "Sometimes it's good to open up."

"Yeaammh!" Natsu crunched his chips. "You'll fweeelf sfo mucch hetter once ywou do!" ("Yeah! You'll feel so much better once you do!")

"Don't talk with your mouth full!" Lucy scolded.

"Talkingtalkingtalkingtalkingtakling— OUCH! LUCE!" Natsu whined as Lucy smacked his hand lightly.

"I didn't even hit you that hard!" Lucy barked.

"Yes you did!" Natsu pouted. "I'm mad!" This was just normal Natsu, silly and playful.

"Stop acting like a child." Gray rolled his eyes.

"This 'child' is gonna kick your ass!" Natsu cracked his knuckles.

"Oh yeah?" Gray smirked, the two clashing heads.

"YEAH! I'm all fired up!" Natsu grinned.

The two started to fight, the bag of chips long forgotten. Erza was fussing at them but they were having too much fun where they couldn't hear her. A chair knocked over.

The door opened and in walked a nurse. She looked at Natsu and Gray, Gray strangling Natsu as Natsu pulled at his hair. She looked confused as she looked over at the chair.

"He did it!" Both Gray and Natsu exclaimed, pointing at one another.

The nurse's eyebrows furrowed until she looked over at Levy. "Oh! She's awake! Excuse me,"

She watered the flowers, clipboard in hand. "Hi! How are you, sleeping beauty?" She tried to make a joke, but no one was laughing. "Haha, ok."

"I just came to make sure everything was okay, there was some noise going on." The nurse hummed, laughing softly. "Anyway, Mr. Redfox, if you'd please come outside."

Gajeel looked over at Levy as the two walked out of the room.

"Do you know why she fainted?"

"Probably stress," Gajeel sighed.

"Exactly. She has some kind of extreme trauma keeping her up at night. Why it's deciding to resurface now, we may not ever know unless she tells you. It's completely up to you if you want her to have therapy, but it's highly recommended," The nurse said softly. "Have any ideas?"

Gajeel glanced at the door. He wouldn't just expose Levy like that. "Nah. I'll ask her later, when she's ready."

"You really need to try to press it out of her, you want her to get a good nights sleep soon, right? I do believe that—"

"She'll tell me when she's ready." Gajeel scowled, reentering the room and sitting in his chair. "How are ya feeling, Shrimp?"

Levy smiled weakly, putting a thumbs up. "I'm feeling fine. You?"

"Great," Gajeel grinned. "Especially since you're up now. Ready to tell me what's up?"

"Later," Levy looked around nervously.

"Okay." And so, the two just sat in a comfortable silence, enjoying the warmth and happiness flowing all throughout the room.

Author-Chan smiles at all of you wonderful readers. "Hello," They sing, holding their hand out for you to shake. The other is occupied by a cell phone, which they mainly use to type out their stories. They push up their glasses, typing something and two big, fluffy chairs appear. "Thank you to everyone who has read this far."

You smile and nod, saying your response.

"The next chapter is very important," Author-Chan hums. "And so I need your input! No, it's not a huge piece of the plot, it's a Q&A! You can ask any of the characters that have appeared in She's My Maid anything you want!"

You, and a lot of other people gasp.

"No," Author-Chan giggles. "You can not ask about the plot, no spoilers teehee. You can even ask any characters to act out any type of scene you'd like (no lemons please)! I'm excited to see the questions/ideas you all have!"

Author-Chan starts to type at an incredibly fast speed. Most will assume that they're texting, but no, they're working on the next chapter for all of you.

And so, you patiently sit in this comfortable space, typing out a question/idea in the "COMMENT" space down below. It looks like a speech bubble!

DEADLINE TO ASK IS JAN. 31ST. (CLOSED! Thank you to everyone who asked questions!)
