Sixteen
Sick day..!
Gajeel groaned, rolling over in the bed. What time was it? 12:43 pm. He'd overslept! He quickly stood up, not before emptying the contents of his stomach all over the floor, and then rushed to get dressed. He called one of the maids to clean the mess up.
He coughed, walking down the stairs making sure to hold onto the rails.
"Oh, sir!" Levy had her binder in hand, she was preppy and cute as usual. She stopped as soon as she saw the sight of Gajeel. He was a little more pale and looked like trash. "Are you alright?"
"Yeah, I'm... achoo! Fine." Gajeel grumbled.
Levy frowned. "You've missed three calls. Maybe you should take a break today... you've been overworking yourself."
"I'm fine! Give me the phone," Gajeel held his hand out.
"No." Levy crossed her arms. He couldn't work sick! "You are taking a break today. You're sick, Gajeel!"
"I'll get it myself." Gajeel walked over. He tripped, hitting the floor. Levy was over in a second.
"You can't work in this condition! Please, take a break." Levy helped him up.
"I've taken enough breaks." Gajeel sighed, feeling the need to throw up again.
"Come lay down." Levy lay Gajeel on the couch. She untied his shoes and took them off for him. She disappeared into the kitchen, returning with a thermometer. "Open."
Gajeel did as he was told.
Levy's eyes widened and she covered her mouth. "Oh Gajeel! You're burning up!" He had a fever. Levy ran into the kitchen again and came back with an ice pack. She put it on his forehead, brushing his hair back.
She walked upstairs, coming back with some blankets and pillows, vapor rub, tissues and medicine. Levy gently lifted Gajeel's head and put the pillow. Then she tucked him in, patting his head. "So um... I need to touch your chest."
She rubbed some on his nose. It was so firm and cool... the piercings were cold.
"Do whatever you need, shrimp." Gajeel took off his blazer, unbuttoning the first five buttons. Levy blushed, putting the cream on her finger. She put the vapor rub on his chest, face redder than Erza's hair. It was so toned and amazing..!
She covered him back up and ruffled his hair. Levy scooted the table closer to him, putting down the tissue.
"Okay, I know this is going to suck, but..." Levy also put down a bucket and got the medicine. "Open your mouth."
"No." Gajeel didn't want to take medicines! They were nasty. "I don't wanna take medicine!"
"It's good for you!" Levy said, pouting it on a spoon.
"It's yucky though!" Gajeel barked. Levy held back her laughter. Did a grown man, as big, tall and powerful as Gajeel just use the word yucky? Levy took that opportunity to force it down his throat.
Gajeel threw that up into the bucket. Levy frowned. "Okay... why don't you take a nap? I'll go make you some soup. I forgot you can't take medicine on an empty stomach."
Gajeel refused, only to fall asleep seconds later. Levy smiled, walking into the kitchen and pouring out the throw up. She made him some chicken noodle soup.
"So uh Levy," Erza walked into the kitchen slowly, looking around to make sure nobody was there. "I need help."
"What is it? Would you like some soup?" Levy asked, not looking away from the pot.
"Sure, and I need relationship advice." Erza blushed looking at the floor. "I like a guy... he's funny and smart... we went through a lot together.. but I'm afraid he only likes me as a friend. What do I do? Should I ask him out?"
"Do whatever you think is best." Levy walked away from the pot to get seasoning, looking at Erza seriously. "If he says no, he doesn't know what he's missing. How are you planning to ask him?"
"I was thinking of taking him to dinner and asking him there. Does that sound nice?" Erza blushed.
"Yes, of course! Tell me how it plays out," Levy smiled. "Keep me updated!"
Erza got out her phone.
She walked upstairs, going into Jellal's bedroom. He wasn't there... bummer.
Jellal blushed, smiling like an idiot. He was at a weaponry shop, getting Erza a handmade sword with diamonds and beautiful jewels lining it.
Did Erza... did Erza just ask him out on a date? He was planning to give this to her and ask her out... but had she beat him to it? He was still mad they couldn't go to McDonalds though.
"LEVY HE SAID YES. WE ARE GOING ON A DATE." Erza burst in. "HELP ME BUY DRESS. LET US GO."
"I can't today. I have to take care of Gajeel," Levy laughed, putting the soup into a bowl. "Here is your soup." She grabbed another bowl, going to Gajeel. She shook him softly.
"Hmmm." He coughed.
"Your soup is ready," Levy said softly. Gajeel sat up, reaching for the bowl. Levy handed it to him, letting him eat.
"It's really good." Gajeel hummed, spooning more and more into his mouth. "Who taught you to cook?"
Levy flinched. She wasn't expecting that. "My mother."
"I bet she was a nice... achoo! Aaachoo! Woman." Gajeel sniffled. Levy nodded.
"She was." Levy smiled sadly.
"Can you tell me about her?" Gajeel asked, finishing up the soup. He didn't really know what it was like to have a mother. She was never there for him, always working... all he had was Juvia.
"My mothers name was Adrienne," Levy smiled. "Both of my parents were short so that's where my height comes from... she had waist length straight navy hair and blue eyes. She was pale ish like me. I got my eye shape smile from her. She was so sweet and kind... always quick on her feet and ready to help. She used to read to me all night until I fell asleep, and if I had a nightmare she would come in my room with monster spray and a flashlight to come protect me all night. I loved her so much. We used to cook together all day. My favorite thing that she made for me was her potato croquettes~ I'll have to make them for you someday. She got food poisoning or something and died when I was nine. She always smelled like honey..."
Levy sniffled, her eyes filling with tears. She blinked them back.
"Oh Levy, why are you crying? You're much prettier when you smile, like this!" Adrienne ruffled her daughters hair.
"I scraped my knee!" Levy sobbed. Adrienne frowned.
"Hey, think of it this way! You could've broken your knee off and there would be blood everywhere and then we would have to call the police and then you'd get surgery and stitches!" Adrienne exclaimed.
Levy screamed. "No! At least that didn't happen,"
"Come with mommy. We'll go get you a band aid." Adrienne held her daughters hand. "Now stop crying, big girls don't cry, do they?"
"Nuh-Uh!" Levy shook her head, smiling again.
"Hey Shrimp, stop yer crying!" Gajeel sat upright. "You could've said no!"
Levy wiped her eyes. "I'm sorry."
"Are you comfy telling me about your dad?" Gajeel didn't know why he wanted to know so bad.
"Okay..." Levy looked at her feet. "His name was Lector. He had messy blue hair like mine and brown eyes. He was pale kind of like Juvia and was really strong. He wasn't very nice. He always yelled at me and called mom names. He drunk a lot, coming home and taking all of his anger out on my mom. Being the strange person she was, she always let him do it with a smile on her face. Stupid mom. Whenever he hit me my mom would cover me with her own body taking each and every blow for me. He was really scary and... him and mom got into a huge argument the night before she died. She screamed at him for the first time. He got us McDonalds after though."
Gajeel looked at Levy, coughing. "How did he die?"
"He's not dead." Levy sighed.
"I thought you had no family?" Gajeel said through grit teeth.
"He is not part of my family. I would never consider him my father. Never." Levy's breath was shallow, a look of pure rage clear on her face.
Gajeel hated to admit it, but the shrimp was kind of hot when she made that face. He didn't like her to be mad though. "Tell me a story, I'm going back to bed—"
"No! I almost forgot, the medicine!" Levy put some more on the spoon, creeping toward Gajeel.
"Nononono!" Gajeel screeched. "Stop it you demon child!" Levy forced it in his mouth, Gajeel groaning as he swallowed.
"I hate you."
"Hehe, no you don't!" Levy laughed as she booped his nose. "Lay down and get some more rest."
"I've been sleeping too much." Gajeel pouted. "I don't want to go to bed."
Levy internally laughed, he really was a child, an adorable softie on the inside. "Okay, well we can watch TV?" She grabbed the TV remote, turning it on National Geographic.
"That's kind of cool, isn't it Gajeel-?" Levy looked over to see him asleep. She laughed, covering him back up and turning off the television.
