Third Person's View

Everyone watches in horror as they all turn to the heart monitor, as it painfully flatlines.

Aaron is unable to move, speak, the only movement from him is a tear trailing down his cheek.

He probably stopped breathing as well.

"Aph......" Aaron whispers, studying her pale body, noticing the numerous cuts and bruises laying across her body.

"Get him out......get him out, Garroth!" Laurence commands, Garroth rushing over to Aaron.

"Aaron you need to......" Garroth starts, but Aaron doesn't let him.

"No.......I'm not leaving...." He says, raising an arm to block Garroth.

"Aaron....you don't really have a choice..." Garroth tries, everyone else desperatly trying to get Aphmau back.

"No! I'm not leaving her!" Aaron yells, turning back to Aphmau, her state making him wince.

The flatline still rings out, Zane now transferring to chest compressions, everyone in the room getting a solemn feeling.

"C'mon Aph, don't give up on us yet....." Zane pleads, pressing down hard on her chest, making her lurch.

Aaron bites his lip, breathing heavily, more tears gathering.

Aph please......

Don't do this.....

I've lost you too many times before.....

I can't lose you again......

The flatline keeps emitting into the air, everyone working efficiently, though were all obviously already mourning.

Katelyn eventually runs into the room, seeing Aphmau and hearing the flatline.

She immediately starts crying again, cupping her mouth to soften her sobs.

Aaron.....

He could see it.....

In everybody's eyes......

Zane's in particular......

That this may be it.....

She could be gone.....

She is.....gone.....

Zane starts to pull away slowly, Aaron starting to react when Zane hammers down a fist onto Aphmau's chest.

Everyone freezes.

Staring at Zane and the heart monitor.

The flatline changes.......

BEEEEEEEP BEEP BEEP

"Sinus tach...." Zane exhales in deep relief, along with everyone else.

Aaron doubles over in relief, resting his hands on his knees in deep gratefulness.

"Now......Aaron....get out...." Zane commands, Aaron lifting his head to answer, but before he could, Lucinda speaks.

"Guys, she's awake!"

Aphmau's POV

Silence.....

Pain.....

Ringing.....

I can't hear anything.....

Just....ringing......

The minute I open my eyes, I see a blinding light from above.

Is this it?

Am I dead?

No.....

It's just the light from above the trauma room....

I'm alive?!

Before I can feel my "thank goodness moment" I get a really extremely....

Painful one.....

The pain strikes at multiple points on my body and inside, particularly around my right arm, my abdomen, my jaw, and.....

My ears.....

I....can't feel them.....

All I can hear is.....ringing...

Endless ringing......

I instinctively start struggling on the surface I was lying on, the pain puncturing me with such intensity I feel extremely woozy.

I finally see who was around me......

Zane is looking down at me, his eyes widened, his mouth moving.......

But nothing was coming out of it......

Nothing....

Just ringing......

I keep struggling, unable to calm myself.

What is going on!?

The pain makes it so hard to think, it clashing with others which only makes it worse.

Lucinda looks at down at me with wide eyes, her mouth also moving but......

Nothing was coming out.....

Nothing.....

Just ringing......

I try to open my mouth to scream but my jaw feels as if it is on fire.

Okay.....okay....

I can't hear.....

I can't speak....

I can only squirm around like a worm on steroids....

Great.....

I also see......

Laurence......

Cadenza.....

Katelyn.....

Then....

I finally stop struggling......

As I see his face......

He rests a hand on my head, looking down at me with his extremely worried expression.

Aaron was leaning over me, tears in his eyes, mouthing nothing but I could read his lips.

Third Person's View

"Aph?" Aaron says to Aphmau.

She slowly stops struggling, his gaze meeting hers, she now lying still while breathing heavily.

Aaron looks to Zane quickly.

"I'm not leaving," He says sternly to his boss, Zane only acknowledgely nodding.

Aphmau then starts muffled whining.

Aaron tries comforting her, but she doesn't react in any way she can hear them.

Laurence takes a flashlight across her eyes, Aphmau following it correctly.

"Okay Aphmau, I'm gonna need you to wiggle your fingers please," Laurence asks.

Nothing happens, her fingers bloody and frozen and still.

"Toes?" He says hopefully, everyone in the room silent.

Nothing, her limbs remain completely still.

"This makes no sense, she was just struggling a few moments ago, she should have full control....." Laurence shares the whole groups worried expression, all looking back to Aphmau.

Aaron looks down at the side of her head, seeing a large mass of blood but it was really.....

Her ears.....

"Guys I don't think she can hear us....." Aaron states, turning back to Aphmau's gaze.

Travis rushes to her ears, using his medical gloves to examine her ear cavity, nodding.

"He's right, there is severe damage to the eardrum, I seriously doubt she can hear us at all."

Aphmau keeps whining, her whimpers becoming more high pitched by the second before she starts choking.

Aaron looks at her pained, trying to mouth to her words, though with the number of blows she must have had to the head, it was a low chance she could interpret what he was trying to say.

"Guys she has a collapsed lung........I'm gonna have to put a chest tube in..." Katelyn announces, the solemn tone of the room surprisingly, dropping even more.

Katelyn looks to Aaron, gulping.

"Aaron I don't think you want to......." She starts, but he cuts her off.

"No, I won't leave her side....." He states, Katelyn merely nodding.

She takes a scalpel in hand, Travis spraying betadine on her lower chest, smoothing it out.

Katelyn takes a deep breath, positioning the scalpel on over the betadine, slowly pressing down.

Aphmau muffled screams ring out, Aaron crying as he held her hand, the scalpel cutting into her skin.

Everyone except Katelyn, looks away, unable to stand their friend in so much pain.

Katelyn then grabs the chest tube and shoves it in the hole, Aphmau gasping then coughing loudly.

"Hey good...its okay...chest tubes in....its okay...." Aaron reassures, while also reassuring himself.

Aphmau breathes deeply now, her breaths less raspy.

Lucinda then comes over with an intubation tube, checking the jaw, Aphmau wincing at this action.

Lucinda checks Aphmau's jaw, noticing an abnormality.

"Guys.....I think she has a jaw dislocation..."

"What?" Garroth asks, really just for clarification.

"She's right, there is no way you are getting a tube down there...." Cadenza says.

"What about a trach?........" Zane suggests, getting interrupted by Travis.

"Wait......I could reset her jaw...it'll be just enough to get a tube down there....."

Everyone exchanges a series of looks and nods, Aaron not joining in, just grasping Aphmau's hand and meeting her gaze.

"But its going to hurt like hell though....." Travis informs, looking for the others for confirmation.

They are all hesitant, but they still nod.

Travis grabs two pieces of gauze and position his fingers in her mouth and outside the lower jaw, counting down.

"Aphmau you ready?.....1......2....I'm really sorry Aph...."

Travis uses all his strength to pop the jaw back into place, a large crack and a ear piercing scream ringing out.....

Ringing......

Just ringing.....
