Part 27

A few days after the Stain incident...

"I had a feeling that something would happen. That's why I didn't want you going to an internship! Ugh, I should've known!" Your mom complained.

"But ma, I wasn't even in Hosu, remember?? I was with Selkie, along with my classmate, Tsuyu." You explained.

"I knew there would be some consequences having you go to U.A but not so many in your first year!" She continued, not listening to a word you said.

"Mom, please..."

No use, she just kept on rambling on. Soon enough she was talking complete nonsense.

'Today is the day I die, I've lived a good life. Made some fun memories with some great people, got into my dream school, etc... time to brace myself.'

"MOM, CALM DOWN! I TOLD YOU THAT I WASN'T IN HOSU OR ANYWHERE NEAR IT!" You shouted.

Your mother was astounded. For a moment it felt as if your heart had stopped at the exact moment she turned her head towards you.

"uuhhh... *clears throat*. Look, I'm sorry I yelled at you but I had to get you to hear what I had to say so you could stop worrying. Plus, I doubt you want to get wrinkles at a young age, right??" (Your mom is somewhat young in this story. She's in her early 30's)

Nothing. Not even a peep. This worried you.

"Mom.. please, say something." You said warily.

"I know, (y/n). I know you weren't in Hosu, but is it so bad for me to worry? You're my only child after all." She finally replied.

You didn't know what to say to that. She was right, but still, did she have to admit that she didn't want you going? Nothing else was said between the two of you, nothing was heard between the long dead silence.

"I'm going out for a while, I have some things to do. I'll be back later." Was all she said before leaving.

You walked over to your couch and plopped down with a sigh.

Your mom's POV....

'Out of the years I've been raising her, this one seems to be the hardest.'

*ring ring*

"Who could this be? Ahhh. Shino, how you've been?"

...

To: Broccoli Boi
"Hey, you doing good?"
2:35 pm

From: Broccoli Boi
"Yeah, I'm doing okay. My injury isn't as bad as the one during the sports festival so that's a good thing😅"
2:40 pm

To: Broccoli Boi
"Well that's somewhat of a relief. How's Iida and Todoroki?"
2:43 pm

From: Broccoli Boi
"Todoroki and Iida?? What are you talking about?"
2:52 pm

'Ah... he's not aware of the fact that I know'

To: Broccoli Boi
"No need to try hide it Izuku, I figured Iida would try to find Stain since his brother was hurt by him. Also I know that Todoroki was involved since he was probably the closest one to Hosu during the time you sent that group text. Don't worry tho, I'm not gonna say anything since I know very well that if I was in the area that I would also jump in."
2:57 pm

From: Broccoli Boi
"That makes sense. But Todoroki is doing fine, although Iida's left hand could have permanent damage..."
2:59 pm

To: Broccoli Boi
"OMG! Are you serious?!! Poor Iida🙁"
3:00 pm

From: Broccoli Boi
"I know. I'm really worried for him.. hopefully everything will be okay for him."
3:01 pm

To: Broccoli Boi
"I hope so too..."
3:01 pm

You put your phone down for a moment to think. After another minute or two, it pinged. You picked it up and read the notification.

From: Broccoli Boi
"Sorry to change the subject, but how was your internship??"
3:03 pm

To: Broccoli Boi
"It was great, there was a lottt that I learned! How about you? How was yours?"
3:04 pm

From: Broccoli Boi
"It was good, I guess a lot happened at mine too, besides the incident.."
3:05 pm

'I wonder if he needs to talk about it?' Then, right as that thought crossed your mind, an idea popped up. Your fingers quickly tapped your phone screen as your typed your message.

To: Broccoli Boi
"Hey! Why don't we meet up somewhere and talk about our experience and maybe some other things? It feels like we haven't hung out in forever! If your not busy of course😅"
3:06 pm

From: Broccoli Boi
"Oh no, that sounds great😁. Where should we meet?"
3:07 pm

To: Broccoli Boi
"How about that little diner your mom would sometimes take us to after school? It's not too far from where both of us live. Plus I feel nostalgic about that place🙃"
3:07 pm

From: Broccoli Boi
"Perfect, I'll meet you there! See ya until then."
3:08 pm

To: Broccoli Boi
"Until then💕"
3:09 pm

To: Broccoli Boi
"OOF WRONG EMOJI!! Meant to use this >😊"
3:09 pm

'Stupid recently used emojis...' With that corrected, you went up to your room and got ready to go meet Izuku. The moment you were about to leave, you realized that your mom forgot her house key on the table.

"Shit! What the heck am I gonna do if she comes back and I'm gone?"

You grabbed her keys and went outside before locking the door. 'Do I take them or hide them? I might not be back for a while...' You hesitated for a moment before deciding to hide her house key in a plant. You immediately messaged her to tell her that you were leaving and where you hid her key. After that, you were happily on your way.

Time skip...

"And then, Tsuyu & I found the stowaways that hijacked the cargo ship and pretty much helped Selkie capture and defeat their ring leader! It was thrilling!" You exclaimed.

"Wow, sounds like you had an interesting time at your internship." Izuku smiled.

"Yeah, but it wasn't all action. Before that, we were mostly just washing the deck while Selkie gave us some lectures. But enough about my experience, how was your internship? What did you learn?"

Izuku took a sip of his drink before going on to tell his experience.

"Well, when I first got there I thought that Gran Torino was dead." He started.

Hearing this made you inhale your drink.
"WHAT?!"

"Yeah, I was surprised too. Turned out he just slipped and dropped his food." He chuckled, scratching the back of his head awkwardly.

"Maybe you shouldn't start with that when telling people your experience.." you sighed as a small sweat drop flowed from your temple.

"Haha, yeah you're right. Anyways, after preparing taiyaki for Gran Torino, I came to the realization He smiled.

You looked at Izuku with amazement.

"Izuku! That's great, I'm happy for you!" You cheered,  giving him a warming smile. A slight blush appeared on his face as he witnessed your smile.

The both of you talked and laughed for what seemed like hours. You were enjoying each other's company as it felt like ages since you both got to hang out together outside of school. The atmosphere around you two was friendly & welcoming, when Izuku suddenly asked an odd question.

"Uh, (Y-Y/n). If you don't mind me asking, but what do you consider your r-relationship with me?" He stuttered, averting his eyes left & right.

Hearing this made you feel an emotion that was between confusion and shock. Why was he asking this so suddenly? You then answered with a stutter.

"W-well, for sure I consider you my childhood friend, a-and one of my closer friends... and uh... w-why do you ask?" you stuttered.

'And?' He thought to himself.

"No particular reason... but, what else were you gonna say?" Izuku poked, as his voice got shaky.

It seemed like the more words exchanged between you both, the more awkward the air got.

"And? Oh, did I say that? Haha well, I don't know. Maybe I kind of consider you something much more stronger than a friend?? Wait, that sounds weird. Um, well, what I meant was-" suddenly you got cut off by the sound of a crash that was heard from outside of the diner.

Both you and Izuku looked out the window and witnessed a gust of debris blowing outside on the streets. You both immediately ran outside to see what was happening, and saw a villain!! He was robbing a nearby bank and throwing police cars to the side like pieces of crumpled paper! People were heard screaming with fear all around the area. Suddenly, Izuku started to run towards the scene to get a closer look.

"Izuku, wait!" You called out, chasing after him.

When the both of you got closer, you saw that there were helpless civilians trapped inside the burning bank. Where are the pros? Shouldn't they have been here by now? These thoughts went all throughout your mind. Neither you or Izuku could just stand there and wait for the pros to come and save the day. The fire was burning too quickly and the villain was getting away. You looked over to Izuku and saw how eager he was.

"Go after him! I'll try to help the civilians that are trapped. We both know that the pros might not make it in time." You informed.

Without much hesitation, Izuku gave you a nod and started dashing after the villain. Meanwhile you went to the entrance of the bank and saw that there were large pieces of concrete and a police car blocking the way. The people on the inside of the bank were yelling, crying and banging on the doors, begging for your help.

"Don't worry! I'm gonna get you out!" You reassured while trying to keep them calm.

"Please hurry! The smoke is getting thick in here!" A woman cried out.

You took a step back and scanned the building for a different exit only to see a small door on the side of the building. The door was blocked off by roaring flames, but that didn't worry you. 'Perfect!'

"I'll be right back! I'm going to open up an exit for you guys, don't panic, try find something inside that could possibly break the windows in the meantime!" You informed before running off to the side of the building to battle the flames.

Meanwhile with Izuku...

'Dammit, I've got to go faster or else I'll never catch this guy!'

The man was pretty fast for his wide physique, and was nearly succeeded his escape. I had to think of something quick. Wait!

I started to focus my power into my legs and used what I learned at my internship to increase my speed. Soon enough it worked, as I was almost close enough to get him.

"You're pretty fast aren't ya kid?! But not fast enough!" The villain shouted before increasing his speed and suddenly leaving a trail of dust behind. Luckily I had some time and grabbed onto him. Although, I didn't think this fully through. When the villain noticed me he tried his hardest to throw me off, but I wouldn't budge. I tried slowing him down, but it didn't work, so instead of doing that I jumped in front of him, focused my power into my arm and punched him in the face, causing him to fly backwards. Luckily, I didn't break my arm!

The villain was knocked out cold so I stayed until a pro and police showed up.

"Wow, you actually got him. How on earth- wait, aren't you that kid who broke his arms at the sports festival?" Asked one of the officers.

"Umm, y-yes.."

The officer tried to praise me but the pro hero, Death Arms scolded  me... again, for the second time in my life.

"Are you crazy?! You could have gotten hurt! Of course what you did was great help but- hey, you're the kid from the sludge villain incident that happened before!"

'I guess he doesn't forget a plain face like mine...'

Back to you...

As you were battling the flames within the bank, & trying to clear a pathway for the civilians, you began to grow somewhat tired. 'Ugh, it's hotter in here than I expected... I can't let that bother me. I still have to kill off most of these flames or else these civilians are toast... literally!' You thought before wiping the sweat that flowed off your forehead and continuing to put out the flames.

Finally, after a few more minutes of struggling in the intense heat, a passage opened revealing the civilians. Everyone immediately began to rush out of the bank as fast as they could. You stood by the frame of the door leading the civilians in the right path before making an attempt to fight off the rest of the fire. Although, after seeing that the fire would be too much for you to handle alone, you decided not to risk your life.

Then, just as you were about to stagger out, you noticed one civilian who was laying unconscious by the desks. You weakly jogged to him and tried to wake him up.

"Sir, are you okay?!" You asked, hoping he would answer back.

You put your ear close to his face to try listen for his breathing. Nothing. This panicked you, but you tried to stay composed and picked him up. It wasn't easy due to your weak state, plus it was hard to see through the thick, black smoke. But that wasn't stopping you.

As you used all your strength to carry the man, the fear within another civilian's voice alarmed you.

"IT'S GONNA BLOW!!" Yelled someone from outside.

And within that very second it did! By the time the pro hero, Backdraft arrived, it was too late. The bank remainder of the bank was up in flames & you were nowhere to be seen. The civilians stood by and stared at the area, hoping to see you pop up.

When the debris and smoke cleared, you were seen surrounded by a dome of water with the citizen safely beside you. You looked up one last time before deactivating your quirk and passing out.

A while later, you woke up to a bunch of faces looking down at you, one of them which were Izuku's.

"(Y/n), you okay?" He asked as he kneeled down.

You blinked a few times and rubbed your eyes before replying;
"Yeah... it's just that, my mouth is super dry right now and I have a headache." You weakly grinned.

Izuku picked you up in his arms and turned to face the crowd, who cheered loudly after seeing that you were live and awake. As much as you appreciated the praise, you lowkey wished it would stop since your head was pounding.

"You U.A students.. I admit that what you did was an act of bravery but it was also uncalled for, one of you could have gotten badly injured, or worse." Backdraft lectured.

Death Arms agreed.

"Although, if it wasn't for you two, we probably wouldn't have captured the villain or saved the civilians. It was very unprofessional of us to show up so late during an emergency." Backdraft continued.

You weakly smiled at them before Izuku carried you to the ambulance that had arrived. While being carried, you noticed that Izuku's arms were actually pretty comfortable and warm. It felt like you could just sleep in them forever. But that ended when you were placed on a hard ass ambulance bed.

Time skip...

After an extremely long, eventful day, you finally got home. When opening the door, you saw your mother standing near with an unreadable expression on her face as she stomped towards you. You flinched, expecting to get an earful from her but to your surprise, she embraced you with a loving hug.

"Are you crazy? What were you thinking." She sobbed.

"Mom, I'm s-"

"Nevermind. What matters is that your alive. Just promise me you'll never ever do that again, understand! You nearly gave me a heart attack."

'I can't exactly make that promise.. but for the time being...' You thought before hugging her back and replying with a soft but meaningful "Okay".

Elsewhere.

"Those U.A kids seems to be involved in yet another incident. Of course today's news was overlapped by the Stain incident like everything else was." Kurogiri mentioned.

"Tch, all this talk about Stain is starting to annoy me. Are people seriously just looking over the attack of the Nomu's?!" Shigaraki growled while aggressively scratching his neck.

"Seems so." Kurogiri replied.

"Whatever... we'll just have to make something bigger happen. Kurogiri, how about we start assembling a team and go with our kidnaping plan?" Shigaraki asked.

"Of course. I'll start gathering others as soon as I can.."

Next chapter will continue to follow the original storyline!!
————————————————————

I've updated waaaay sooner than I originally expected. Anyways hope you all enjoyed this filler-type of chapter. I was gonna try follow the storyline a bit more but then I got the sudden idea to have a small conflict happen. Also because I thought I should make y/n have more action. Another thing, the villains didn't really say all of that in the manga but I had to make something up so it could mould in with the story, know what I mean? Anyways until next time.
