CHAPTER THIRTEEN!

〔 Season two, episode one 〕

𝑻𝑯𝑬 𝑮𝑹𝑶𝑼𝑵𝑫 𝑺𝑯𝑶𝑶𝑲 𝑼𝑵𝑫𝑬𝑹 𝑪𝑨𝑺𝑺𝑨𝑵𝑫𝑹𝑨'𝑺 𝑭𝑬𝑬𝑻 𝑨𝑺 𝑱𝑬𝑻𝑺 𝑭𝑳𝑬𝑾 𝑨𝑪𝑹𝑶𝑺𝑺 𝑻𝑯𝑬 𝑺𝑲𝒀 𝑫𝑹𝑶𝑷𝑷𝑰𝑵𝑮 𝑩𝑶𝑴𝑩𝑺 𝑶𝑵 𝑬𝑽𝑬𝑹𝒀𝑻𝑯𝑰𝑵𝑮 𝑺𝑯𝑬 𝑯𝑨𝑫 𝑬𝑽𝑬𝑹 𝑲𝑵𝑶𝑾𝑵, adrenalin keeping her standing as she felt the exhaustion creep through her body. Only mere hours after they had saved Nick and Liza had died - the remaining group, we're trying to escape from LA on Strand's boat

Cassandra shook Madison's shoulder, the blondes focus being on the boat Nick was driving to transport mostly everyone onto the yacht - herself, Madison, Travis and Chris we're still on land.

Chris was refusing to leave his mother's body. Grief stricken.

"I can't see the boat anymore" Madison yelled towards Travis, the man taking it as his cue to grab some of the supplies

"They're out past the break. They'll come back for us"

"What then?" Madison asked as she started to collect the supplies, Cassandra dropped to her knees beside Chris

"No one's that far ahead"

The brunette grabbed ahold of Chris shoulder, making his gaze focus on her
"I won't leave her"

"I know" she whispered watching as he covered his mother's face, another explosion went off. This time closer making Cassandra turn to Madison with a panicked looked

"Travis your son needs you" Cassandra told him switching places with him as she continued to help Madison move the supplies, her converses sinking into the sand as she ran back and forth between the beach and the sea

"They got it started" Cassandra pointed out into the ocean as the boats lights lit up the darkness

Cassandra spun around upon hearing the groans of the infected, fear flooding her veins as she realised the missiles were drawing them in

"Madison!" She yelled alerting the blonde to the dead falling off the cliffs and onto the beach they were standing on

"Travis."

"-Oh, Jesus, Maddy"

The three of them stood turning in circles, realising they were trapped on every side by the dead or the water

"Chris!" Travis yelled "move to the water"

"Cass!" Madison yelled pulling her behind her and shielding her

"I'm not leaving her!" Chris yelled towards his father.

Of course he didn't want to leave his mother, knowing if he did she would turn into a chew toy for the dead. Cassandra scrunched her face up at the thought that had just crossed her mind, the image was disgusting

Madison picked a rock up off the floor as the dead got closer and one tackled Travis, Cassandra stood frozen unable to defend herself since she was weaponless

"Madison!" Cassandra yelled as she watched Travis fall to the ground the dead on top of him, the blonde in question turn around hitting the zombie on the head killing it

But another snuck up behind her,

"Maddie watch out" Travis yelled, both of them being attacked by another zombie each. Cassandra watched as both adults killed the infected blood spraying across the sand. She didn't think she would ever get use to the sight of killing, of blood and brains. Or the smell. But if she wanted to survive she had to

"Come on, come on let's go" Cassandra let out a sigh of relief as she heard Nicks voice shout across the sea. They could finally get off of this death trap

Madison and Cassandra's grabbed bags of supplies and dashed through the water throwing them into the speed boat Nick was driving - Travis following behind as he carried Liza's body, both of them jumping in the boat

But just as Cassandra was about to get in something grabbed her foot dragging her down, she fell hard into the water and when she looked up an infected was coming straight for her eyes widening in fear as she tried to get her grip to stand up

Nick quickly took the lid off the engine of the boat, letting the dead get trapped in it in hopes of stopping it from getting to his girlfriend, the deads brains splattered across them all. Travis grabbing ahold of Cassandra and pulling her onto the boat
As she let out heavy breaths trying to calm herself down

"Oh god" Madison cried out as she turned away from the scene, Chris placing a comforting hand on her back
Cass quickly hid her face in Travis not wanting to see or smell the brains of the deceased as he rubbed her back comfortingly

All of them could still hear explosions going off as Nick sailed them as fast as he could towards the abigail, all of them being thrown about by the waves. Cassandra held a tight grip on the boat making sure she didn't fall

They approached the boat, the end of it slamming into the wooden deck. Daniel and Alicia being their to greet them, Madison automatically started to unload the supplies as Travis picked up Liza's body

Nick jumped onto the deck, holding his hand out to help Cassandra, she took his hand looking up at him as she stepped onto the deck - all of them feeling the engine start but nothing was louder then the explosions that we're going on

Cassandra Finally turned towards the place she grew up in and saw the bombs dropping and fire's spreading from place to place. It look like hell, well what it was described like anyways. Never ending fire and suffering. Though what she didn't relieses was that this was not never ending suffering....living was and that was something she would find out to late.

Her face like everyone else's was one of devastation. She felt Nick's hand slip into hers. He was trying to comfort her. The glow from the fire reached this far out that it reflected on Cassandra's face and her eye's

They made it out, alive. Most of them anyways. The people she was standing with, will probably be the people she dies with. Some she had known most of her life others she had only just met. But they all had survived something unimaginable together and that creates a bond.

Herself, Nick, Madison, Alicia, Chris, Travis, Strand, Daniel and Ofelia.

They continued to watch their city go up in flames as they drifted away.

They finally manged to pull there eye's away from the scene infront of them, everyone's exhaustion from the day taking over. None of them had slept for over two days, Cassandra hadn't eaten either since Nick was taken from her. She was to worried to eat, she felt like everything would just come back up

Once the supplies we're put away, everyone started searching for rooms. For a well needed rest that they all needed.

Nick and Cassandra walked through the narrow hallways of the boat, the Clark boy leading her to the room Strand had said they could have, opening the door he let her go in first

The brunette looked around the room, it was one of the biggest on the boat But still quite small. She let a tired smile cross her face as she looked at the bed in the middle of the room and her eyes casting a glance at the dresses and the L shaped couch in the room

"Home sweet home" Nick smiled as he looked down at her both of them entering the room. Cassandra rolled her eyes at him as she collapsed on the bed

"It's surprisingly comfortable" she told him as she proped herself up on her elbows, Nick lazily smirked

"'Oh is it"

He walked towards her, leaning down and wrapping his hand around her throat as he pulled her into a kiss, all of their emotions from the past couples of days being expressed through this kiss, the pain of her almost losing him. The pain of him taking drugs again something she couldn't focus on or even bring up since she was so relieved she didn't lose him. The exhaustion they both felt physically and mentally

She let herself full backwards on the bed bringing him with her. Never breaking the kiss. As he used his other hand to hold himself over her as not to crush her

He pulled away from her resting there forheads together
"I love you" he whispered as he looked into her eyes "as long as we're together we will be okay. We'll survive this" stroking his thumb over her neck

Cassandra nodded, she believed he would survive this. She didn't know about herself but she wasn't ready to have that conversation with him yet.

Wrapping her hand around the back of his neck she pulled him back into their kiss and the rest of the night was perfect

Cassandra stumbled onto the deck, feeling refreshed after the long sleep she had. She did feel bad though that everyone else was awake. She walked out onto the deck, her long brown hair flowing everywhere from the wind

Madison spotting the girl handed her an apple, the brunette looking at her in confusion

"You haven't eaten in almost four days Cassandra"

"Thank you" the brunette whispered, taking a bite out of the apple as she made her way towards Alicia, but then all of them heard the sounds of people screaming

Cassandra and Alicia ran towards the edge of the boat, there eyes both widening at the sight of many people trapped on a tiny boat screaming for help

"What are we going to do?" Alicia asked "Mom?, Cass?"

But Cassandra didn't know what to say, she was smart enough to know letting them on the boat would be a liability but she couldn't just let people die

"Go get Travis." Madison ordered Alicia as she took off

The boat wasn't slowing down, she knew Strand wouldn't stop for them. Alicia returned with Travis the both of them making there way to stand beside Cassandra

"We got company" Daniel announced clutching his gun

"Oh shit"

The people's were still shouting, pleading for help

"Where's Madison?"

"She's talking to Strand" Alicia told her step-father

"We got go get these people" Alicia said, the Parker girl reached out placing a hand on the younger girls shoulder "We're gonna help them right?" She questioned

"Alicia-" Cassandra started but Travis cut her off

"-right now help us. Inside there's a radio.
Listen to the channels. We got to get a track on where we can go that's safe, okay?"

"What about these people?"

"I'm gonna talk to Strand. If you could do that for us. Right now go"

Once Alicia left Cassandra glanced at Travis

"You know he won't stop this boat right?" Cassandra stated, Travis sighed at her words before taking off up the stairs

Cassandra felt the boat pick up speed,
She was right. She heard the screams getting further and further away, Madison came walking back towards them

"Mom, what happened?" Nick asked stopping her

"Ask your new friend." She replied coldly,
Cassandra looked down at her boyfriend from the upper deck, his top tied in his hair, he looked ridiculous, he made his way up the steps sitting on the railing, he put his shirt back on as they continued to watch the people get smaller and smaller as they sailed away dooming them to their deaths

Cass sat on the couch behind the railing facing the way of the ocean, her knees underneath her. She continued to take bites out of her apple, making Nick turn towards her. He looked her up and down and smiled. She didn't look as tired anymore. He leaned down kissing her forehead and then stealing a bite of her apple

"How dare you" she faked betrayal, a pout on her lips and Nick couldn't help but stifflie a laugh at her expression bitting his lip to hold in his laughter

"You wanna offer me something else to eat?" He smirked, as he watched her face go red, "Hey I'm just saying we have our own room now, we did make full use of it last night"

Cassandra pushed him playfully watching him slid down the part of the boat he was resting on, making Travis and Daniel turn towards the two nineteen year olds as Cassandra held in her laugh and Nick hit the deck
