Chapter 11

Serena's POV:

I locked myself away for the rest of the day and didn't leave my room. I didn't speak or eat, I just sat in silence.

I just couldn't feel anything. My emotions had been stripped away from me as my heart broke and I felt numb. I had no anger to let out and no longer had any tears to cry.

Even when Ash and Goh came into the room to go to sleep and tried to apologise, I didn't open my mouth. I didn't want to speak to them and neither did I actually have anything to say...

The next day, I woke up very early and then crept around the room to gather my things. I wanted to get out if there nice snd early so there wouldn't be any awkwardness. Also because I had no reason to stay any longer when my goal was now unachievable.

I left Cerise Laboratory and then checked the ferry schedule on my Rotom Phone. It would still take another few hours before I could leave so I had to do something to spare the time.

I decided first to get some breakfast at a café and then I did some shopping. While I was buying new clothes though, I couldn't help but think about Chloe. She was the only person that I had met here that I had made some connection with and I felt quite guilty leaving without saying goodbye.

I had luckily managed to get her number so I decided to text her.

Me:
Hello Chloe, if you're not doing much today would you like to have lunch with me?

Luckily enough I got a reply very quickly.

Chloe:
Okay sure, could I bring another person with me as well

I then worried that either Ash, Goh or both of them had told her about what happened.

Me:
Is it Ash or Goh?

Chloe:
No, just a friend of mine that I had arranged to meet up with today but I'm sure she wouldn't mind I'd she came with us

I breathed a sigh of relief.

Me:
Okay, that's fine, she can come along too

Chloe:
Okay great! See you soon!

I was happy that I would get to vent to someone before I would have to leave here and return to Hoenn where I wouldn't be welcomed back with as much of an opportunity to do that.

Soon enough Chloe arrived along with a dark blue haired girl.

"Hello Serena!" The maroon haired girl greeted.

"Hi Chloe!" I responded, however not as energetic as her.

"Hi Serena, my name is Dawn!" The other girl introduced herself.

  "Hi Dawn!" I replied.

And with that, we went inside the restaurant building. We order at the counter what we wanted and then we sat down at a table. The atmosphere of this restaurant reminded me of the one I went to yesterday but I just tried to forget about yesterday and have a good time.

"So Serena, how are you?" Chloe asked.

"I'm not doing that great at the moment..." I answered.

"Oh no! What happened?" Dawn questioned.

"Well I tried asking out Ash but he's already taken so, yeah..." I responded.

"He's dating someone?" The blue haired girl looked puzzled.

"He's dating Goh, remember?" Chloe replied.

  "Oh yeah!" Dawn responded.

"Wait, you knew about that too?" I asked.

"Well..." The maroon haired girl mumbled and began to sweat.

"Oh course she did! She's been trying to get then together for months!" Her friend answered for her.

"I told you that I liked him and you told me I had a chance! Why would you lie and set me up like that?!" I exclaimed.

  "I'm sorry, Serena..." She sighed.

"Well, at least now you get a chance to find a new partner who is much less oblivious than Ash!" Dawn tried to reassure me, "I liked him at one point but then I found Chloe!"

"You're dating-" I was about to ask.

  "Yes," Chloe replied.

"Well there was this one girl I kind of liked but then I screwed up everything between us just to chase after Ash and now I'm left with nothing!" I complained.

"You should go back to her, you might have a chance with her," The maroon haired girl advised.

"Yes, that's exactly what I'm doing," I responded, "I'm leaving right after this but first I'll need some time to recover..."

  I then stood up.

"But on second thought, I think I might as well leave now. I don't see the point with eating with someone who betrayed me." I announced.

"I am really sorry..." Chloe muttered.

"Goodbye, Chloe." I said and then walked out.

The two girlfriends tried calling out my name but I was out of there in a flash. Chloe tried calling me but I very quickly deleted her number. I don't know what's gotten into me today but I've realised that the best thing to do is to just go home already, back to Hoenn where at least I would have May to comfort me.

I waited by the port and scrolled on my Rotom Phone as I did. I saw so many pictures and videos of happy couples and it disgusted me but also saddened me as I was here to find that but I never even had a chance.

  I've screwed up everything...

After what felt like only a little time of scrolling, the ferry that was supposed to come in an hour arrived, and I realised how long I had been hate scrolling out of bitterness and jealousy for.

I sighed and got ready to board the ferry. Maybe Lisia might have forgiven me during this time I had been away from her? Maybe I might have a chance from the minute I get back and there won't be any awkwardness?...

But who am I kidding? Of course she won't immediately forgive me after how much I've hurt her...

I got on board and then waited for everyone else to get on to. I was so closed up in my own little world of negativity that I hadn't realised there were others around me. I'm glad that I didn't start throwing a tantrum in front of them.

Just as the boat was about to set sail to Hoenn, I heard shouting. In fact it was someone calling my name.

  "Serena!"

  And that person was Ash...

He came running down the stairs and to the edge of the port.

"Serena! I'm so sorry!" He cried out.

I wanted to say something, either a witty comeback or a heartfelt apology that he really didn't deserve, but no words left my mouth. I felt like I had no voice.

And then, the boat sailed away from the port. He continued to call out my name but all I could do was frown and hold in my tears as I waved him goodbye.

And once I could no longer see him, I turned away and couldn't help but let everything out, all of the tears I was holding in amd all the words I couldn't say when I needed to say them the most...
