A few days later, the quintet was helping Tasha with the last preparations before Christmas Eve. The three youngest were in charge of wrapping the last presents, while the oldest were helping their mother with the decorations.
- "Ho, ho, ho!" Donald walked in, carrying bags. "Santa's here!"
- "I'm not sitting on your lap. Just hand out the gifts." Leo replied.
- "Presenting this holiday season's hottest new action figures!" The father exclaimed and held out action figures of the team. "Adam, Bree, Chase, and Maddison!"
- "Wow!" Bree smiled.
- "Cool!" The geniuses, simultaneously, exclaimed.
- "Toys!!!" Adam yelled and grabbed his action figure.
The three youngest of the team took their own action figures.
- "They're so cute!" The Davenport woman laughed.
- "Yeah. Now that the world knows and loves you guys, a toy company was eager to put one of these in every kid's stocking for a small licensing fee." The scientist pointed at himself.
- "Ahem!" The shorter boy cleared his throat. "Didn't they forget a certain someone? I'm just saying, this face would look dashing in molded plastic." He gestured to his face. "It appeals to children of all ages."
- "Leo, we agreed to keep your bionic arm a secret." Donald put a hand on his middle son's shoulder. "Besides, this is about Adam, Bree, Chase, and Maddison. And me!" He pulled out his action figure. He started making the action figure move while the six frowned. "What? It comes free with the set."
- "Right, because no one would actually pay for you." The bionic girl said.
- "Look, Chase." The tall guy took his brother's action figure and put it next to him. "Yours is life-sized!"
The alien girl rolled her eyes.
- "Oh, and look!" The genius boy took his eldest brother's action figure. "Adam's head is hollow." He hit the head of the doll. "Just like the real thing!" He smiled widely.
The girls laughed.
- "It's not hollow. It's filled with potential." Adam snatched the toy from his brother's hands.
- "Wait, potential?" The Davenport girl frowned. "More like air."
- "What? What does that even mean?" The tall guy replied.
The trio started arguing. The Matthews girl leaned against the couch and sighed, in despair.
- "Guys, it's Christmas!" Tasha yelled. "This is a time to think about others, not yourselves. Which is why famed TV reporter Tasha Davenport is hosting a charitable toy drive at school." She smiled as everyone glared at her. "Oh, it can be a little about me."
- "Of course it can, honey!" The father, gently, kissed her cheek. "Now that that little self-involved side-trip is over, check it out!" He showed his phone to the team. "Your action figures are now second place on the holiday gift bestseller list."
- "Oh." Bree smiled.
- "Cool." Maddie nodded.
- "Second place? What's first?" Chase asked.
- "Uh, a toy called 'The Nerble'?" The scientist frowned.
- "The heck is a Nerble?" Chase looked at his father's phone. "That? That's just a furry orange ball!"
- "Yeah, who would buy that stupid thing?" The bionic girl frowned.
- "Hum, guys..." The alien girl pointed at the eldest teenager, who was playing with a Nerble.
- "Nerble. Nerble. Nerble. Nerble. Nerble." Adam mumbled. "What? It has fur and rubber. What else do you need in life?"
- "So many more important things." The Matthews girl replied.
- "Ooh, Donald. I bet the kids at the charity drive would love some of your old toys." The mother smiled.
- "Tasha, they're not toys, they're scientific invent..." Donald started as his wife started to run away. "No! No! No, no! Stay away from my toys!" He chased her.
- "They are so cute." Maddie chuckled.
And they are totally gonna have sex. She thought.
- "Yeah. I want that." The Davenport girl smiled, sadly.
- "One day, you will." The alien girl patted her shoulder.
- "The only reason the Nerble is outselling us is because our action figures don't have any cool features." The genius boy said.
- "It's a toy." The Matthews girl replied.
- "But a furry rubber ball with one eye does?" Bree frowned.
- "You see? She gets it." The tall guy smiled.
- "Hey, you know what will make your toys number one? Drop a little dab of Davenport in that fun pack." Leo chuckled.
- "Or... we can make better prototypes and get the toy company to sell them. Then, we'll be number one instead of the Nerble." The green hazel-eyed boy explained.
- "You guys are ridiculous. Who cares if some little toy is beating us?" The bionic girl asked.
- "Thank you, at least, one of you has some common sense." Maddie said.
- "I do! We're heroes. We should be number one." Chase replied. "I don't see any furry rubber balls saving the world."
- "No, but they do bring the world joy." The eldest explained.
- "How?" The genius boy asked.
Adam threw the Nerble at his youngest brother's stomach, who fell to the ground, groaning in pain. Leo started, hysterically, laughing.
The alien girl covered her mouth to stop herself from laughing at her childhood best friend's laugh.
- "See? Joy!" The tall guy did a hand-shake with his sister.
The Matthews girl put herself together and glared at the eldest, who, quickly, ran away.
- "You can run, but you can't hide!" She shouted after him.
The green hazel-eyed, still on the ground, smiled softly.

The next morning, Chase had told the other members of the team to come in the lab to show them something.
- "Look, guys, I just finished improving our action figures with some cool new features." He smiled. "Check out Adam's." He held up his eldest brother's action figure.
- "Activating heat vision." The toy said with Adam's voice as its eyes glowed red.
The genius boy smiled widely.
- "That's so cool. The kids are going to LOVE it." Maddie replied.
- "Okay, now show me the cool thing you added." Adam continued.
- "And Bree's." The green hazel-eyed boy put down Adam's toy and picked up his sister's.
- "Activating super speed. Whoosh whoosh, whoosh whoosh!" The doll said with the bionic girl's voice.
- "Super speed!" Chase chuckled.
The alien girl smiled fondly. He's so cute.
- "Super? No." Bree replied.
- "And Mads." The genius boy picked up his best friend's action figure.
- "Activating invisibility." The action figure said with Maddie's voice.
- "I know you have other super cool powers, but I wanted to make a little reference from when you used to come on missions with us, before we knew you had powers." The green hazel-eyed boy explained.
- "Aw, I like it." The Matthews girl smiled. "Good job, Chase." She put her hand on his bicep.
Chase's cheeks, slightly, reddened.
- "Well, check this out." He picked up his toy.
- "Calculating GPS coordinates." The action figure said with his voice.
- "Yes!" The genius boy exclaimed.
- "Oh, Chase, how can I put this in a way that won't hurt your feelings?" The tall guy started. The geniuses frowned. "You're the worst person that's ever been born, and this is the biggest waste of time and money I have ever seen."
The green hazel-eyed boy's smile dropped. I know that. You don't need to remind me, every day.
Maddie glared at him as her eyes, involuntarily, turned red. She took several deep breaths to stop herself from murdering Adam. Chase doesn't me to get involved when Adam says something like that. I have to respect it. Even if this is the hardest thing ever.
- "These are no better than the originals." The bionic girl said.
- "Hello? Did you not hear the 'whoosh whoosh, whoosh whoosh'?" Chase asked.
- "Look, if you're gonna soup these things up, at least add some real super speed to mine." The Davenport girl said. "Oh, and super agility. Oh, and hair extensions!" The trio frowned. "Well, I'm just trying to keep it real." She flipped her hair as she walked out.
- "What I think Bree is trying to say is, our fans are awesome, so they deserve action figures that are awesome." The tall guy explained.
- "But they're toys. It's not like I can put actual bionic abilities in them." The genius boy replied.
- "Sure you can. We have a lab, you have no life, get to work." The eldest patted his brother's back and walked out.
He's not wrong. The green hazel-eyed boy shrugged.
- "I swear I'm only holding back for you, because otherwise Adam would be a pile of ashes." The alien girl, angrily, said.
- "And I appreciate that, thank you." Chase smiled.
- "Yeah, yeah, you're welcome." The Matthews girl replied.
- "What?" The bionic boy frowned.
- "Nothing, it's just that it's a matter of time before I torture him until he begs me to kill him." Maddie said.
- "Okay... Let's not murder my brother on Christmas." The Davenport boy put his hands on her shoulders.
- "But he deserves it." The alien girl replied.
- "Doesn't matter. No." The green hazel-eyed boy, firmly, said.
- "Fine." The Matthews girl sighed. "You look great in green."
- "Don't try to distract me." Chase blushed, lightly.
- "No, I'm serious." The blue-eyed girl chuckled. "It brings out your eyes."
The genius boy's face reddened.
- "Thanks." He said.
- "You're welcome." Maddie smiled.
You're welcome, pretty boy. She thought.

Later, Chase reunited the three other members of the team again in the lab. Twelve actions figures were on the cyber desk.
- "The Nerble stared down at us from its perch on the number one spot. But we would not back down. No, we wouldn't, because we're strong!" He yelled.
Maddie bit her lips as she contained her smiled to go wider. He's so fucking adorable.
- "And boring. Get on with it." Adam said. The alien girl smacked his arm, hardly. "Ow!" He held his arm, in pain.
- "All right, now watch what happens when I press this button." The genius boy pressed a button on his brother's toy, and it fired heat vision, exploding something across the room.
The Matthews girl frowned.
- "Oh, cool! I wish I could do that." The tall guy smiled.
- "Good news, you can." Maddie patted his back.
- "And check this out." The green hazel-eyed boy pressed the button on the Bree's doll, and it super speeded away.
- "Whoa! Look at that little momma go! You are goin' down, Nerble!" The bionic girl shouted. The strong ones frowned. "Uh, not that I care, because I don't." She, awkwardly, chuckled.
- "Right." The alien girl nodded, not believing her for a second.
- "And this one." Chase pressed a button on Maddie's action figure, and it turned invisible, before turning visible across the room.
- "That's really cool, Chase." The alien girl said.
But it's dangerous. They have to stay with us. She thought.
- "Watch this." The genius boy pressed a button on his toy, and it flew across the room. "So realistic, right?"
- "You can't fly." The eldest frowned.
- "Toy me can fly! End of discussion." The green hazel-eyed boy replied.
- "With Adam's action figure, kids will set their houses on fire and kill themselves and their entire family." The Matthews girl started. "With Bree's, kids will try to catch their dolls and cross the road and get hit by a car and die. With ours." She gestured to herself and Chase. "Kids will go on the road again and die. Or kids will be on a balcony, trying to grab their dolls and will fall over the balcony and die."
- "Look out!" The Davenport girl yelled as the genius boy toy flew, dangerously, close over their heads.
- "I've made my point." Maddie smiled.
The green hazel-eyed boy frowned.
- "Chase, kids can't play with these toys." Bree said. "They're too dangerous."
- "Oh, come on, they're not that dangerous..." Chase started when Adam, accidentally, pressed a button on his toy, and it fired its heat vision at the genius boy's hair. The alien girl used her freezing breath to stop the fire. "Okay, I see your points."
- "I love being right." The Matthews girl smiled.
The green hazel-eyed boy rolled his eyes, before grabbing a box.
- "Just put them in here. I'll get rid of them." He said.
- "Aww. But I like him." The tall guy pressed his toy to his chest, and it fired its heat vision at him, burning his shirt. "Ow! Traitor!" He threw the toy Adam across the room, and it fired its heat vision, before exploding. "Yeah, you should probably get rid of those."
- "Definitely." Maddie nodded.

Later, the two older siblings were talking in the lab with their best friend when Chase walked in.
- "Hey, guys, I finally figured out how we can top the Nerble. Instead of giving ours real bionic abilities, we can just give..." He picked up an empty box, where the action figures were supposed to be. "Hey, what happened to the action figures?"
- "What do you mean 'what happened to the action figures'?" Maddie walked up to him.
- "Well, I don't know about mine, but yours is probably somewhere doing homework." Adam said.
- "I don't get it, they were right here." The genius boy frowned.
Bree's phone buzzed.
- "Uh, guys? You might wanna see what mom just posted." She showed them her phone.
- "'At the toy drive. Giving is so much fun'." The green hazel-eyed boy read. "No, no! Mom took our action figures to the toy drive! Those things are deadly weapons!"
- "This is bad." The alien girl said.
- "Don't just stand there, Chase! Fly us to school!" The tall guy yelled. "Oh wait..." He smirked.
Seriously? Now? Chase glared at his brother.
- "Let's go!" The Matthews girl slapped the eldest upside the head, before opening a portal in the school main hallway.
The team ran through it.
- "Mom!" The genius boy yelled.
- "Oh, hey, guys, what a wonderful surprise." Tasha smiled. "Did you come to help me with the toy drive?"
No. The green hazel-eyed boy thought.
- "Of course not." The bionic girl frowned.
- "I was going to, but something happened." Maddie sighed.
- "Uh, where are the action figures?" The Davenport girl asked.
- "I just handed them out to the kids." The mother looked at the kids in the cafeteria.
- "What? Why would you do that?" Bree frowned, worried.
- "I assumed you left them in that old box to donate." The journalist explained. "The kids just love them. Mostly because we just ran out of Nerbles."
- "Well, we didn't." The alien girl replied. "They are part of a project Chase is working on."
- "What?!" Tasha's eyes widened. "What kind of project?"
- "The kind that should worry you." The Matthews girl said.
The team peered into the entrance of the cafeteria.
- "We have to get them back!" Chase yelled.
- "Well, at least they haven't found the button yet." The bionic girl replied.
- "What button?" The mother asked from behind them.
A little boy pressed the button on the Adam toy, and it fired heat vision, breaking a table.
- "You just had to say it!" Maddie exclaimed.
- "That button." The Davenport girl, nervously, chuckled.
- "This is a disaster!" The genius boy yelled and walked into the cafeteria.
Wonder who created the disaster. The alien girl thought as she followed him.
- "Yeah. I'm gonna go home and play with my Nerble." Adam started to walk away, but Bree pulled him back.
∘₊✧──────✧₊∘
A couple of minutes later, all of the action figures were glitching as the kids were running around screaming, while the team tried to grab them. The team and Tasha hid behind a sleigh.
- "I knew this day would come." Adam said. "First the toys attack the humans, then they recruit the refrigerators and microwaves to seal our doom." He explained. "We need to stop this!" He shouted, in panic.
- "Okay, no more Toy Story or Transformers for you." Maddie replied.
- "Okay, obviously the Adam figures are the most dangerous, so we have to get those out of the kids' hands first." Chase explained.
- "Wait, what's wrong with the Bree doll?" The mother pointed to the doll.
They all looked to see the bionic girl action figure shaking.
- "Oh, no. I made them too perfectly." The genius boy said.
- "What does that mean?" The journalist asked.
- "She's glitching just like we do. The bionics are burning out the motor." The green hazel-eyed boy explained. The Bree toy exploded and everyone, except the five, screamed. "Okay, change of plans. Go for the Bree ones." He ordered.
The two oldest ran off.
- "What did you do to these toys?!" Tasha asked, angrily.
- "Made them better?" Chase questioned.
The mother ran away.
- "Seriously? Why did you have to be so perfect?!" The alien girl exclaimed, before running after one of Bree dolls.
Shit, I did not just say that! She, mentally, slapped her forehead.
The genius boy blushed, brightly. She probably meant: creating them so perfectly. He, nervously, chuckled. Right? He got up to see his toy, menacingly, flying above him.
- "Oh, no. Oh, no." He tried to control the toy with his bionics, but nothing worked, so he dived to the ground just as it exploded onto the wall. "Okay, go after the Chase ones first." He got up. "You know what, just get them all!"
Bree fell to the ground as she felt something pushing her.
- "What the..." She started.
- "There are kids, here!" The Matthews girl yelled, before helping her best friend up. "It's one of my dolls. Careful, guys! My dolls are trying to make you fall!"
- "Got it." The eldest nodded.
The green hazel-eyed boy grabbed his flying toy in midair.
- "Got you." He struggled with it, punching it several times, before falling to the ground and hitting the action figure to the ground.
Tasha, quickly, led the children out of the cafeteria.
- "Merry Christmas!" She, awkwardly, smiled.
- "Okay." Adam said.
Chase kicked his action figure across the room.
- "That was a great work out." Maddie, mockingly, smiled.
- "Shut it." The genius boy put his finger in her face.
The alien girl chuckled.
- "I think we got all of 'em." The tall guy continued.
- "No, we're missing one." The Matthews girl replied.
The green hazel-eyed boy looked at the dolls in the trio's hands.
- "She's right. I only count eleven. We're missing one." He said.
- "I'll check the hallway." The eldest walked into the hallway. "Uh-oh." Adam and his toy had a tense standoff in the middle of the hallway.
The three youngest walked into the hallway.
- "Adam, be careful. He's unstable." Chase, carefully, warned.
- "So am I." The tall guy replied, like he was in a western.
Maddie frowned.
- "Why is he acting like a cowboy from a western movie?" She asked the younger siblings, who shrugged.
The toy fired its heat vision, but the eldest teenager rolled to dodge it.
The genius boy put himself in front of the girls to protect them.
God, I love when he gets protective. The alien girl bit her lips.
Adam destroyed the action figure with his own heat vision.
- "Nice shot!" The genius boy exclaimed.
- "You nailed it!" The bionic girl chuckled.
- "Great job!" The Matthews girl smiled.
The tall guy took the destroy toy, in his hands.
- "Why is it you always hurt the ones you love?" He asked, sadly.
- "I'm gonna need you, guys, to clean this up." The mother said as the Christmas tree fell behind her in the cafeteria.
- "Mom, it's Christmas." The eldest teenager frowned. "Stop thinking about what you need and start thinking about others."
The two younger siblings nodded as the journalist glared at them.
- "You, guys, have a death wish." Maddie replied.
∘₊✧──────✧₊∘
A couple of minutes later, the five were in the cafeteria. Tasha was holding up debris.
- "Great. You ruined the toy drive." She sighed.
- "It's not totally ruined. The kids can still have fun with these melted action figures." Adam picked it up. "Hiya, kids!" He imitated the toy talking, before stopping. "Yeah, it's just sad."
- "We're sorry, Mom." Chase put his hand on her back.
- "It was just a private project." Maddie said.
- "Yeah, we never meant for those action figures to leave the lab." Bree replied.
- "I think what she's trying to say is, this is all your fault." The tall guy continued. "But, we're not mad." He patted her shoulder.
- "I just feel bad for the kids. They have no gifts. And they were so excited when I told them they were going to get to play with your action figures." The journalist sighed.
- "I just wish there was some way that we could make it up to them." The bionic girl said.
- "Maybe there is." The genius boy replied.
- "Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" The alien girl asked.
- "Probably." The green hazel-eyed boy smiled, softly. "We are connected."
The Matthews girl smiled widely.
∘₊✧──────✧₊∘
A couple of minutes later, the five brought the kids back in the cafeteria.
- "Okay, I'm your real life action figure." Adam said as a boy held his head. "Go ahead and give it a throw." A girl threw a Frisbee and the boy guided the tall guy's head as he fired his heat vision at the Frisbee, destroying it. "Oh, yeah! Nice shot, kid!" He high-fived the little boy, who ran off, excited. "Whoo! Okay, next."
- "Who wants a 200 mile-per-hour piggyback ride?" Bree asked a little girl, who jumped, happily. "Okay, come on." The girl climbed on her back and she super speeded away.
- "Okay, let's go." Maddie opened a portal towards the other side of the room. Several kids walked through it. "Hi!" She waved at them, from across the room.
Chase walked into the cafeteria with several kids holding his arms.
- "For the last time, I can't fly!" He exclaimed.
- "Eat your heart out, Nerble." Tasha smiled in the sleigh.
∘₊✧──────✧₊∘
Later, that night, all the Davenports were in the living room with Maddie and Rose.
- "Well, I, for one, am relieved you know about Leo's bionic arm. Now, I can stop lying to you." Tasha sighed, in relief. Her mother gave her a look. "About the fact that I've been lying to you." She, nervously, chuckled.
Donald handed the grandmother a gift.
- "Oh, what's this?" She asked, excited.
- "Hmm, knowing him, it's either cheap or re-gifted." Adam said.
Maddie chuckled.
- "It definitely is." Douglas murmured.
- "It's just a little something. Merry Christmas, Rose." The father smiled.
- "Oh!" The Dooley woman gasped, loudly, as she took an action figure of herself.
- "A Grandma Rose action figure!" The mother exclaimed. "Donald, that is so sweet of you."
- "It's so stiff and life-like." Chase smiled. The alien girl, discreetly, nudged him as Rose gave him a look. "Because of its warmth and charm."
- "Nice save." The grandmother chuckled.
- "Thanks, grandma." The genius boy smiled widely.
- "Hey, why is she wearing a mission suit?" Bree asked.
- "Oh, I just had a new head molded. I used the body of a Bree doll prototype that was lying around." The scientist explained.
- "Called it." The uncle smirked.
- "And it's re-gifted." The tall guy said.
- "Wait, a Bree prototype?" The bionic girl frowned.
- "Oh, boy." The Matthews girl sighed.
- "Hey, what does this button do?" The Dooley woman asked as she pressed the button.
- "Oh, no! Everybody get down!" The green hazel-eyed boy yelled. Everyone ducked as Chase grabbed the action figure. "Mads!" He threw it at his best friend, who put a shield around it, right before it exploded.
The two geniuses sighed, in relief.
- "You're right. He is a bad father." Leo said to his grandmother.
