Two weeks later, Adam walked into the living room, carrying Chase on his shoulder. Their biological father was sitting at his brother's desk a little further.
- "Adam, stop!" The genius boy wiggled on his brother's shoulder.
- "I told you, my weight set broke, and I need you to be my barbell." The tall guy explained.
You've got to be kidding me. The green hazel-eyed boy shook his head.
- "And please, don't scream this time, it's distracting."
Oh, my bad. Chase rolled his eyes.
- "Adam, put him down." Donald walked in by the front door. "That's how people get hurt."
Exactly. The genius boy nodded.
- "Hmm. Good point, I should probably stretch first." Adam threw his brother on the floor and walked away.
- "Man, I'm so tired of him. So far this week I've been his weight set, his football, and his jump rope." The green hazel-eyed boy explained to his father.
- "Well, on the bright side, you've never looked more fit." The scientist patted his son's back. "And I know for a fact that Adam has several bruises on his body caused by YOUR fierce protector."
- "I'm serious. He's always using his strength to make my life miserable." Chase said. "And I try to stop Mads, but man, that girl is stubborn." He shook his head, amused.
- "So, why don't you get even?" Douglas asked.
- "How? None of my abilities can compete with his strength. And it's hard to torture him with brain-teasers when he doesn't have a brain." The genius boy replied.
- "Maybe I can unlock a new ability. Give you something you've never had before: the upper hand." The uncle laughed.
- "Yes. Let's do it!" The green hazel-eyed boy exclaimed.
- "Euh, no, let's not, absolutely finito, forget it." Donald walked up to his brother, followed by his son.
- "Why not?" The younger brother asked.
- "Because I said so. You live under my roof, you play by my rules." The father replied. "End of discussion." He walked upstairs.
- "You live under my roof, you play by my..." Douglas mocked.
- "I can hear you!" The older brother shouted from upstairs.
Chase chuckled.
- "All right, Chase, my hammies are loose." The tall guy walked back in. "I'm ready for round two."
- "Ah, ah, ah, Dad said you can't bench press me anymore." The genius boy smiled.
- "Yeah, but he didn't say anything about you being my shot put." The eldest explained.
What? The green hazel-eyed boy raised his eyebrows, in panic.
- "Come on, let's go for gold!" Adam pretended to charge at his brother, who ran away. "Starting with sprints. I like it." He ran after his brother.

A few hours later, Chase ran in the living room. Douglas was sitting on the couch, talking to Maddie.
- "Douglas, you have to unlock a new ability for me. Adam just put on boxing gloves and tried to hook me to the ceiling!" The genius boy exclaimed.
- "Where is he?" The alien girl, angrily, stood up. Before the green hazel-eyed boy could reply, she started talking again. "Forget it. I'll find him and will see if he likes being above an active volcano." She super speeded away.
Crap. Chase thought.
- "I'm sorry, Donnie said no." The uncle replied. "But look, I feel your pain. When we were kids, he'd push me around all the time. Then I outgrew him."
- "Then you got the upper hand?" The genius boy asked, hopeful.
- "No, he invented a robot to beat me up." The older Davenport said. "Fisto Roboto was as cruel as he was calculating."
- "Well, if you know what it is like, then why don't you help me?" The green hazel-eyed boy sat next to him.
- "Sorry, Chase, he said no." Douglas replied. "And I've got to stay on his good side, or else he'll cut off my allowance."
Your allowance? Chase frowned.
- "I'm saving up to buy a car. You know, in case I have to live in it." The uncle explained.
- "You know what? Fine, I get it." The genius boy got up. "Dad is smarter, and older, and he controls you."
- "He doesn't control me. He just tells me what to do and when to..." The older Davenport started, before realizing that his nephew was right. "Okay, you're on!" He, quickly, got up.
The green hazel-eyed boy smirked. Good old manipulation always works on him and Dad.
- "Let's unlock a new ability. But first, grab a bat. You and me are going to pay a little visit to Fisto Roboto." Douglas, gently, hit his nephew's chest, before walking away.
- "Yes!" Chase exclaimed and followed.
- "But you call Maddie and tell her to come with us, so she doesn't murder your brother." The uncle said.
- "Good idea." The genius boy took out his phone and call his best friend.
∘₊✧──────✧₊∘
A few hours later, Douglas walked in the lab with the two young geniuses.
- "Okay, we have to be quick before Donnie gets back." The uncle said. "This..." He put a device on his nephew's neck.
- "Ow." Chase frowned and held his neck.
- "Be gentle." Maddie slapped the older Davenport upside the head.
- "Ow!" He exclaimed. "I was saying, this will let me look through your list of hidden abilities to see which one to give you."
- "Why don't you just give me 'em all?" The bionic boy asked.
- "Because you have a LOT, and it will be too much for your body." The alien girl replied.
- "Exactly. The human body can only take so much. It's... It's like a water balloon. You fill it up too much and... well, I don't want to spend the night scraping Chase chunks off the ceiling." Douglas explained.
- "No, I would miss this face too much." The Matthews girl said, in a whisper, as she frowned.
The green hazel-eyed boy blushed, lightly, and smiled at her.
- "I said that out loud?" Maddie asked.
- "Yep." Chase snickered.
- "Crap." The alien girl replied.
The bionic boy smiled fondly.
- "Hmm, let's see. Uh, night vision?" The uncle looked at his tablet. "Nah, your phone has a flashlight. Acid spit? Fun." He chuckled.
- "But he would kill every person he'll kiss." The Matthews girl replied.
If I ever kiss someone. The green hazel-eyed boy sighed.
- "Oh, yes, and if you drool in your sleep, you could melt your face off." The older Davenport nodded.
Again, I would miss this pretty face too much. Maddie thought.
- "No... Oh." Douglas laughed. "No. Ooh, no." He frowned.
- "Why not this one?" The alien girl pointed at one of the abilities.
- "Yes! She got it!" The uncle exclaimed.
- "Awesome!" Chase smiled widely. "Wait. This isn't going to hurt, is it?" He asked.
- "Well, it's not going to hurt us." The older Davenport gestured to himself and Maddie, before laughing.
The alien girl frowned.
The bionic boy, nervously, laughed along as he looked at his best friend, in panic.
The Matthews girl interlaced their fingers together as her thumb, gently, caressed the top of his hand.
I'll be fine. The green hazel-eyed boy sighed, in relief.

The next day, Chase walked in the lab, where his eldest brother was.
- "Oh, no. Adam's in here. I sure hope he doesn't try to bench press me or throw me across the room." He said, with a fake worried tone. "Like right now. Tiny doll-like body just begging to get hurt."
- "Not now, Chase, I'm busy." Adam replied.
- "What are you doing?" The genius boy frowned.
- "I'm trying to figure out which is scarier, okay? One hundred duck-sized horses or one giant horse-sized duck." The tall guy explained.
- "Well, I bet they could both take you in a fight." The green hazel-eyed boy smiled. "Ooh!"
- "Chase, that wasn't even an option, I need you to take this seriously, okay? I'm thinking it's the massive duck..." The eldest started.
- "Just hit me." Chase said, irritated.
- "If you keep interrupting me, I'm going to hit you." Adam replied.
- "Then do it." The genius boy smiled.
- "That wasn't interrupting. In order to interrupt someone, you actually have..." The tall guy started to explain.
- "Just hit me!" The green hazel-eyed boy yelled.
- "There it is!" The eldest walked up to hit his brother, who revealed his new laser bo ability. "What's that?"
- "Laser bo. It's my new ability." Chase smiled, before spinning his laser bo.
- "That's not a new ability, that's a giant glow stick." Adam mocked. "But you hang on to it. We'll need it on Halloween when we cross the street." He tried to punch his brother, who blocked each punch with his laser bo.
He sent the tall guy flying across the room as he groaned in pain.
The genius boy smirked, proudly, and walked way.
- "Hey! None of this would've happened if you hadn't interrupted me!" The eldest shouted.

A couple of hours later, the two geniuses were sitting on the couch watching their favorite French TV show.
- "I wish I was there." Maddie laughed as her best friend explained what he did to his brother.
- "Don't worry, I got Eddy to record it." Chase smiled proudly.
- "Oh my god." The alien girl gasped. "You're the best."
The bionic boy, slightly, blushed.
- "Try to get me now, Chase." Adam walked in, encased in a plastic bubble.
- "What the..." The Matthews girl started.
The youngest Davenport put his hand on her mouth to stop the end of her sentence from getting out.
The blue-eyed girl rolled her eyes, amused.
- "Adam, what are you doing?" The green hazel-eyed boy asked.
- "I'm taunting you from the safety of my battle bubble. This way, I can get you, but you can't get me. Watch." The tall guy used his heat vision, but the bubble popped.
Maddie opened a shield in front of them, so the pieces of the bubble would not get in their faces.
- "Is the bubble still around me?" The eldest questioned, with his eyes closed.
- "Yep, you're good." Chase smirked.
- "So, Chase hurt you once, and you're putting yourself in a bubble. And you hurt Chase, his entire life, and he never put himself in a bubble." The alien girl frowned. "That tells a lot on who is the COWARD." She smiled.
Adam looked at her, offended, while the genius boy smiled widely.
- "This won't hurt one bit." He got up from the couch and activated his laser bo.
- "Okay, that is so cool!" The Matthews girl exclaimed.
- "Chase, what is going on?" Donald asked as he walked in.
Shit. Maddie pressed her lips together.
The green hazel-eyed boy looked at his brother and best friend, in distress as he deactivated his laser bo.
- "Ooh, you're in trouble." The tall guy smiled. "You wanna borrow what's left of my battle bubble?"
Chase stopped him.
- "DOUGLAS!" The father shouted.
∘₊✧──────✧₊∘
A couple of minutes later, the five were standing in the living room.
- "You went behind my back, and you gave Chase a new ability?" Donald asked, in disbelief.
- "I was only trying to help. Look, I know you're mad, but at least I'm not trying to abduct the kids anymore." Douglas replied.
- "Yes, that is very good point." Maddie smiled.
- "That's true." Chase wrapped his arm around his uncle's shoulders. "He hasn't committed a felony in weeks."
- "Days." The younger brother corrected.
- "Days." The genius boy smiled.
- "Wait, you gave him a new ability? Well, don't expect a mug on Father's Day." Adam scoffed. "Oh, darn, I already ordered it!"
- "Guys, can you give us a second?" The father told the teenagers.
- "Yeah. Thanks, guys." The tall guy, gently, pushed the geniuses away. "Hey, don't worry. You're getting a mug, too."
- "Thank you buddy, but I meant you, Maddison and Chase." The scientist replied.
- "Fine, then nobody's getting a mug." The eldest said, angrily. "Oh, darn, I already ordered 'em!" He walked away, followed by the geniuses.
- "I knew it was a mistake letting you stay here." Donald told his brother.
- "You're right. This is all your fault. I forgive you, let's move on." Douglas replied.
- "Ah-ah-ah-ah. No." The father stopped him.
- "Oh, come on, Donnie, what's the big deal?" The uncle asked.
- "The big deal is you messed with their bionics." The older brother said.
- "I just gave him a little boost. I felt bad for the kid. I know what it's like to be the younger, much smarter brother." The younger brother explained.
- "Oh, now I get it. So because you have an axe to grind with me, you give him a new ability and upset the whole balance of power in the house. Did you ever stop to think how it will affect their teamwork on missions?" Donald questioned.
- "I...did not." Douglas replied. "Don't worry, I can fix this."
- "How? It's not like you can take the ability back. What are you gonna do? Get rid of the kids and start from scratch?" The father, sarcastically, asked.
- "No." The uncle scoffed. "Is that on the table?"
The older brother glared at him.
∘₊✧──────✧₊∘
Later, Chase walked in the lab, towards his brother.
- "Adam, I'm sorry I went overboard with my new ability." He said. "Having that kind of strength is...exhilarating"
- "See, now you understand why I beat on you all day long." Adam replied.
The genius boy nodded.
- "Hey, I hope this brings us closer." The tall guy added.
- "Look, now that I've made my point, can we just agree that things need to go back to being normal?" The green hazel-eyed boy asked.
- "Sure. Put 'er there, bro." The eldest extended his hand.
Chase smiled and walked up to high-five his brother, who inhaled and blew out forcefully, sending the genius boy barreling across the room.
- "What was that?" He asked, after getting up.
- "Oh, my new pressurized lung capacity, or as I like to call it, My Blow Thingy." Adam smiled.
- "How did you do that?" The green hazel-eyed boy walked up to him.
- "Well, Douglas wanted to make things right between us, so he unlocked a new ability for me. I wanted machine guns in my eyebrows, but he said I'd get headaches." The tall guy explained.
- "I thought you just agreed that things should go back to being normal." Chase said.
- "Well, they are. I'm more powerful than you again and there's nothing you can do about it." The eldest replied.
Oh, really? The genius boy thought. Let's see about that.
- "Oh, there's definitely something I can do about it." He activated his laser bo.
- "Oh, silly Chase. Your glow thingy is no match for my blow thingy." Adam chuckled.
The two brothers got into fighting stances.
∘₊✧──────✧₊∘
Later, the adult Davenport brothers walked in the lab.
- "So, you fixed everything with Adam and Chase?" Donald asked.
- "Yep, not to worry. Everything is back to normal." Douglas smiled.
A fire extinguisher flew past them. They turned their heads and saw the bionic brothers, violently, fighting with their new abilities.
- "Adam! Chase! Stop it, now!" The father shouted. Adam knocked his brother to his feet with his pressurize lung capacity. "What was that?!"
- "Pressurized lung capacity. Pretty cool, huh?" The uncle chuckled.
- "Will you two stop?" The older brother yelled at his sons, before turning to his brother. "I thought you said everything was back to normal!"
- "Duck!" The younger brother yelled. They, both, ducked as a chair flew over their heads. It is. Adam has the upper hand, balance is restored. It's called parenting, Donnie. Feel free to take notes." He chuckled as another object was hurtled towards them.
- "I ask you to make things better, and you make things worse, as usual." Donald said.
- "Yeah, yeah." Douglas replied. They both held onto the console to avoid being blown away by the tall guy's pressurized lung capacity. "Just like when we were kids, it's always my fault. 'He didn't do the dishes. He left my bike out. He reanimated my dead gerbil, and now it's a monster'!" He mocked.
- "Well, it was! You should've let Herman rest in peace!" The father, sadly, exclaimed. "You know what? All you did was make the situation more dangerous. You're like a destabilizer when it touches plastic." He grabbed the destabilizer.
- "I think you mean metal." The uncle took the device from his brother's hands.
- "You know what? I think you're right." The older brother took a metal object and made him touch the destabilizer, sending his screaming younger brother across the room.
The bionic brothers stopped fighting.
- "Wow." Chase said as he deactivated his laser bo. "That was harsh."
- "Yeah. It's ugly when brothers fight, isn't it?" Donald asked.
- "Yeah, but with you guys it's also dangerous 'cause you're super old, and you could die." Adam replied.
The genius boy nodded, in agreement.
- "Look, I know you two are polar opposites, but you're brothers, and you have to start learning to respect each other." The father explained.
- "Oh, you mean like you two do?" The green hazel-eyed boy questioned.
- "Well, Douglas and I, you know, that's different." The scientist said.
How so? Chase crossed his arms.
- "Look, we're adults, and we've earned the right to act like children." Donald defended. "This behavior has got to stop."
- "Okay." The tall guy nodded.
- "We get it." The genius boy agreed.
- "Good one, Donnie. Way to nail 'em." Douglas started to walk away.
- "Oh, no. You're not off the hook." The father stopped his brother. "You can't just go around handing out bionic abilities."
- "But that's why they like me more than you." The uncle replied.
Donald turned around to see his sons shaking their heads, but when he turned back around, they started nodding to their uncle.
- "Look, I know you're trying to help, but you have to let me take the lead when it comes to the kids." The father said. "You may be their biological father, but I raised them. I take the important decisions."
- "Okay, fine." Douglas sighed. "I'm sorry."
- "From now on, any major decisions have to go by me first." The older brother added.
- "Absolutely." The uncle nodded. "But we're gonna have to start that tomorrow, 'cause I kinda made Bree invisible."
- "What?" The father and his sons, simultaneously, asked.
- "It's true. I've been standing here the whole time." The invisible Bree smiled.
- "Oh! Oh, I got her. I got..." Adam wrapped his arms around the air. "No, that's air. That was air." He tried to grab his sister, again.
- "M was right. It is fun to be invisible." The bionic girl laughed.
∘₊✧──────✧₊∘
Later, on the roof, Chase was telling his best friend what happened after she left.
- "Adam is such a jerk." Maddie scoffed.
- "I was too." The bionic boy said.
- "No, you weren't. Adam has been abusing you your entire life. You got back at him, ONCE." The alien girl explained. "It does not make you a jerk nor a bad person. If I was at your place, you know I would've hurt Adam WAY MORE."
- "I do not doubt that." The Davenport boy chuckled.
- "Chase, I don't ever want to hear you call yourself a jerk." The Matthews girl looked at him in the eyes.
The green hazel-eyed boy frowned.
- "I'm serious. If you ever call yourself a jerk again, when you did nothing wrong, I will slap you as many times as I need to, to get you this thought out of your head." The blue-eyed girl threatened. "Got it?"
- "I got it." Chase smiled. "Thank you."
- "You're welcome." Maddie smiled back.
