Bree and Maddison were in the hallway, at school.

- "Did you ask him, yet?" The bionic girl asked.

- "No." The blue-eyed girl responded.

- "It's been five days!" The Davenport girl exclaimed.

- "I know!" Maddie pushed her glasses up. "I'm trying to find the courage. I don't want it to be awkward if he says no."

- "You don't know that." Bree replied. "He might say yes."

- "I hope so." The Matthews girl sighed. "Did you ask Ethan?"

- "No..." She whispered.

- "So, stop asking me about Chase." Maddie smirked and Bree rolled her eyes. "Now, shush. He's right there." She showed Chase, a few steps away.

The girls arrived, next to Adam, Chase, and Leo.

- "No, no, no, you can cheat off of me. I have, "She's not going to the dance with Lenny."." Adam and Chase laughed at Leo.

- "Danielle?" Maddie asked.

The bionic brothers nodded.

- "Are you guys talking about the dance too?" Bree scoffed. "Why is everybody making such a big deal out of this stupid dance?"

- "Nobody's asked you yet, have they?" Chase smirked.

- "No! I really wanna go with that guy." Bree pointed at a guy behind her. "His name is Ethan. We sit next to each other in chemistry. Coincidence? I think not." She explained. "Chemistry!" She sang. "What should I do?" The bionic girl asked.

- "I got this." Chase stepped forward and used his bionic hearing to listen to Ethan's conversation across the room. "He's talking about a girl he thinks is cute."

- "Yeah, Bree's cute and I really like her, but I don't know how to ask her out, you know?" Chase and Maddie heard Ethan said to his friend.

- "Ew! He's talking about you!" The genius boy exclaimed, as Bree smiled at Adam, Leo, and Maddie. "He's coming over here right now to ask you to the dance." Chase walked back to the group and pushed his sister, closer to Ethan's direction.

- "What? No! Now? Why? Really?" The bionic girl asked the group as she panicked.

- "Bree, breath." Maddie put her hands on the girl's shoulders.

Bree took a deep breath and froze when she saw him, next to her. Ethan walked over.

- "How's it going?" He asked.

- "Ethan! What a huge surprise!" Chase said. "To see you here, for reasons we do not know."

Maddie slapped her forehead.

- "Hi, Ethan!" Bree yelled. "How... uh, you know... We... uh, you know... decided..." She stuttered. "What is that over there?" The bionic girl pointed in another direction and super speeded away when he looked where she pointed.

Oh, god. The Davenports really don't know what the word discretion means. Maddie thought.

- "Where'd she go?" Ethan asked.

- "Uh, more importantly, what is that over there?" Adam pointed in another direction. Him, Chase, and Leo ran away.

Ethan turned and looked at Maddie.

- "How did you fell for it? Twice?" She asked, before she walked away.

Chase ran in the lab, towards Leo and Adam, who were playing with robot toys.

- "Hey, guys, I finally figured it out." He said.

- "Oh, me too! Do not eat the outside of a pineapple." Adam replied. "That'll come back to haunt you."

- "No. I figured out how to make Danielle like Leo. I recorded her with my bionic hearing." The genius boy explained. "Let me play it back for you."

The boys ran towards one of the cyber desks. Chase inserted a flash drive coming out of his finger into the console and played the recording.

- "In the movie, the hero punched the bad guy and stole the baby right out of the alligator's mouth. I would so go out with a guy like that!" Danielle exclaimed.

- "Perfect! You get the alligator, I'm gonna go round up that baby!" The tall guy started to walk away.

- "Adam, no." His younger brother stopped him. "She wants a hero. We just have to make Leo look heroic." Chase explained.

- "Well, that's a dead end." Leo replied. "What else should we do today?"

- "If only there was a way you could borrow my bionic strength." Adam said.

- "I can't do that. That's all you've got." The short boy answered.

- "Wait a minute. Adam's on to something." The genius said. "Which is quite an achievement for someone that doesn't know how to eat a pineapple."

- "Hey, I got it down, didn't I?" The tall guy mocked.

Leo and Chase shook their heads.

After school, Bree, Maddie, and their moms were in the mall, trying to find dresses for the dance.

- "Oh, we should go there!" Tasha exclaimed. "You'll find for sure your perfect dresses." She wrapped her arms around Bree's and Maddie's shoulders.

The four entered the shop. They went in the same direction.

- "Maddie, look at this." Claire showed a pretty pale pink dress.

- "It's pretty, but no." She shook her head.

- "Ah, teenagers. I was just like that with my mother." Tasha whispered to Claire.

- "Me too." The Matthews mom chuckled. "But, to be fair, she had terrible tastes."

- "Bree, look at this one." The Davenport mom showed a purple dress. Bree shook her head. "We don't have bad tastes, do we?" She asked her best friend.

- "Apparently, we do." Claire and Tasha laughed.

- "Moms!" Maddie stepped out of a fitting room. "What do you think of this one?"

She was wearing a wine red lace dress, with a rounded neckline, and sheer short sleeves. The dresses stopped above her knees. Maddie turned to show the small V-back.

- "You are beautiful, sweetie." Her mom responded.

- "Thanks, mom." She smiled.

- "You look amazing, girl!" Bree exclaimed.

- "They are right, honey. This is really pretty." Tasha said.

- "Thank you." Maddie walked back to the fitting room with a shy smile.

Moments later, Bree was still trying to find a dress.

- "This one, B?" Maddie showed her best friend a blue dress.

- "Meh." The latter responded. "This is my first dance. I really want to find the perfect dress."

- "You will, sweetie." Claire put her hand on the girl's shoulder.

- "How about this one?" Tasha showed her a strapless tribal bustier dress with an indigo flow-y bottom.

- "I love it!" She exclaimed. "I can even put a cute top under it to make it better!" Her mom showed her a light lace blue top. Bree squealed and jumped in her arms. "Thank you, Tasha, for helping with me!" The bionic girl smiled.

- "Of course, you are my daughter. I will always help you." The older woman kissed her forehead.

The Matthews, behind, smiled at the mother and daughter moment.

The next day, at school, Adam was on the floor with the lockers on top of him. He was whistling while playing on his phone when two boys walk over and tried to help.

- "No, no, no. He's fine." Leo pushed one boy away.

- "No, no, no, I'm good." The tall guy under the locker said at the same time.

- "He's great." The short boy pushed the second boy. "Yeah."

- "Thank you!" Adam yelled.

The boys walked away. Maddie walked in and stood beside the genius boy.

- "Chase? Why is Adam under the lockers?" She asked.

- "We're trying to make Leo look heroic, so Danielle would like him." He explained.

- "Oookay." The alien girl leaned her left shoulder against the wall. "I'm curious to see how it's gonna turn out."

- "Ooh! They're coming! Commence phase one of Operation Lady For Leo." Chase exclaimed and leaned his right side, on the door frame, facing Maddie.

Maddie gulped when she saw how close he was. Thankfully, he was looking at Leo and Adam.

Fuck. Crap. He's too close. Yet, not close enough. She thought. His lips look so soft. The alien girl quickly looked at his lips, then his green hazel eyes, then the freckles covering most of his skin, the beauty mark on his chin and the three ones on the right side of his neck. They form a triangle. Maddie smiled softly, before looking at his eyes, again. Shit, he's so pretty.

When Chase turned to look at her, she quickly looked away.

Danielle and her friend walked up to the doorway.

- "Oh, no! This man is trapped!" Leo unnaturally yelled." He looks like he needs a hero to save him. I will take charge and heroically do just that!"

Maddie slapper her forehead while Danielle looked impressed.

- "You, guys, didn't work on his acting skills, did you?" The alien girl whispered to Chase, who shook his head.

- "Oh, no! We're running out of time." Adam said, with the same terrible acting skills. "Save me before the alligator comes..."

Leo kicked the lockers.

- "Oh my god." Maddie murmured.

- "Wrong rescue!" Her childhood best friend whispered to Adam. "I will lift these lockers! One...two...three!" Adam used his super strength to push the lockers back up. It looked like Leo did it. "So heavy!" The short boy sighed.

- "You're a true heroic take-charge hero!" The tall guy acted like he was scared.

- "Oh, my gosh! I can't believe that just happened!" Danielle exclaimed.

- "You know, it takes a big man to do something like..." Leo replied before she cut him off and walked to Adam, behind him.

- "How are you not hurt?" The blonde girl asked. "You must be so strong." She continued in awe.

- "Wait. What? No!" Leo stepped between them. "He's not the strong one; I'm the strong one! Hero!" The short boy did a pose.

Danielle ignored him and turned her head to Adam.

- "Maybe I should walk you to the nurses' office."

- "What about Leo?" The tall guy replied.

- "He's not hurt." She smiled.

- "Look at me! I'm an open wound!" The latter exclaimed.

- "Well, this is definitely a good flirting technique." Maddie sarcastically whispered to Chase.

- "We should have worked on that, too." He sighed.

The alien girl hummed in agreement as she followed Chase to the group.

- "Really, I'm fine." Adam smiled.

- "Okay, good, 'cause the dance is Saturday, and I love dancing. Maybe we can hang out." The blonde smiled and waved goodbye.

- "Great plan, Chase." Leo said, irritated.

- "It's not Chase's fault your flirting skills are bad." The alien girl intervened. "Nor it is his fault that Danielle can't see what she's missing. You're a great guy, Leo, and if she can't see that, then she's not worth the effort." Maddie put a comforting hand on her best friend shoulder.

- "Thanks, Dee." He replied softly.

- "What are you talking about? That didn't go at all like we thought it would!" Adam chuckled.

The boys went back home for lunch. They were walking out of the elevator.

- "You stole my woman! Where I call from, we call that a love crime." Leo yelled and leaned against the central cyber desk.

- "It's not my fault I look brave under lockers." Adam defended. "I was trying to help you."

- "How? By saying you'd go to the dance with her?" The short guy sassed.

- "I'm keeping my options open. It's the first a girl's ever been interested in me, and it's kind of nice." The tall guy explained.

- ""Ooh! It's kind of nice 'cause she has..."" Leo mocked before he screamed and attacked Adam, who was completely unaffected.

- "Stop it, little man! You're gonna hurt yourself!" The older brother yelled without moving.

- "Hey, Hey, Hey! No! Hey!" Chase lifted Leo off of Adam and dropped him to the floor. The short boy got up, exasperated. "Guys, this is getting out of hand. It's like watching a chihuahua fight a horse. Is Danielle really worth all of this?" The genius asked.

- "Yes!" The two boys exclaimed.

- "Adam, you cannot go to the dance with Danielle. It wouldn't be fair." Chase explained. "Leo liked her first!"

- "Hey, all is fair in love and fake locker accidents." Adam replied. The younger brothers gave him a look. "Fine. He can go with her."

- "It's too late. The damage is done." Leo walked further away. "I'll never love again." He, dramatically, said.

- "Leo, I'll talk to Danielle." The genius boy walked forward. "I'll convince her that Adam's not an option and that she should be with you."

- "Yeah, go to the dance with her, but everybody's gonna think you're dating your babysitter." The tall guy grinned.

The short boy screamed and lunged at Adam, Chase held him back.

Bree walked towards her three brothers in the main hallway.

- "Well, if it isn't little Miss Flash and Scram." Chase said.

- "Ha-ha. Very funny." The bionic girl deadpanned. "I think I scared Ethan off."

- "Ya think? You left skid marks in the hallway." Leo replied.

- "Well, I think there's only one way to fix this." Bree sighed. "I have to ask him to the dance."

- "Well, here's your chance. He's at his locker." The genius boy pointed the guy, a little further, behind his sister.

Bree walked over to Ethan.

- "Uh, hey, Ethan, could I talk to you for a second." She looked at his eyes and froze. "Oh, no." She murmured to herself.

- "I've got to make it quick 'cause I'm on my way to..." He was cut off by the sound of wind. Bree had super speeded away. Ethan looked around for the girl. "Bree?"

- "Over here." The latter was on top of the lockers.

- "But you were..." He looked at the ground beside him. "Okay, why are you up there?

- "You know, just helping out the janitor. I mean, this place is "dust-ay!"" Bree explained.

- "Alright. Do you need help getting down?" Ethan asked.

- "No, thanks. I'll see you in class." She waved as he walked away.

The Davenport boys were laughing. Maddie, who was walking in, turned to see the cause of their laughter.

What the...

- "Bree, why are you on top of the lockers?" She walked to her best friend.

- "Escaping from Ethan." The bionic girl sighed.

- "You got so nervous, that you jumped on top of the lockers?" The alien girl asked. Bree nodded. "Okay. Well, he left, you can get down now."

- "Right." Bree slowly slid from the lockers.

Maddie waited in front to stabilize the bionic girl when her feet touched the floor.

- "You are okay?" The alien girl asked with her hands on Bree's shoulders.

- "Yeah." She sighed. "At least, I tried. You didn't even try to ask..."

Maddison covered the girl's mouth. She turned and saw the three boys looking at them. She smiled and walked away with Bree.

- "Sorry, I thought they left." She whispered, once the alien girl removed her hand.

- "Well, that was weird." Leo said to Adam and Chase.

- "Yeah." The genius boy looked, suspiciously, at the girls.

The next day, at lunch, Chase decided to talk to Danielle.

- "Hi Danielle? Sorry to barge in on your gossip session." He chuckled , before realizing his mistake. He couldn't have known without his bionic hearing. "That you may or may not have been having. Remember that guy who heroically lifted a wall of lockers?"

- "The tall, good-looking guy?" She asked.

- "No, actually, the smaller, more interesting-looking guy." The genius replied as he sat next to her.

- "Oh! My sturdy little footstool!" Danielle exclaimed.

- "Bingo!" Chase smiled. "Anyway, I know you like my brother Adam, and that's creating a problem in his friendship with Leo, so I was kinda hoping that maybe you'd go to the dance with Leo instead." He explained.

- "Oh, that is so sweet! You're worried about your friend." She said as the genius nodded. "You know what? I know how to fix this whole thing."

- "See? I knew that if I just talked to you, everything would work out." Chase smiled.

- "Sure did. I'm gonna go to the dance with you!" Chase's smile dropped. "See you there, cutie!" Danielle and her friend left.

The genius gasped when Leo and Adam walked in.

- "Hi! Guys!" He exclaimed, awkwardly. "So, here's the deal. Danielle's not going to the dance with either of you." He sadly said.

- "What? Who's she going with?" Adam asked.

- "Me!" Maddison heard, with her super hearing, Chase exclaimed, all happy.

What? Maddie's heart broke. She was behind Adam and Leo, further in the hallway. The girl had reunited her courage and was coming to ask Chase to the dance. I was too late. She turned and walked away, her head down.

Leo screamed and jumped on Chase to attack him.

After school, the Matthews girl went to her house. Her mom finishing work early together, they were gonna cook together.

- "Mom, I'm home!" Maddie yelled as she closed the door.

- "In the kitchen, sweetie." Claire yelled back. The tall girl entered the kitchen and ran into her mother's arms, tears streaming down her face. "Oh, baby girl. What happened?" She wrapped her arms tighter around Maddie's back.

They stayed like this for a couple of minutes, just a mother hugging her daughter as she cried, telling her that it was going to be okay, that she was here.

- "Chase is going to the dance with Danielle." She explained after she had calmed down.

- "Aw, I'm sorry, Maddie." The Matthews mom kissed her head.

- "I was literally going to ask him, when I heard him say to Adam and Leo that he was going with Danielle." The younger Matthews sniffled. "I should've done it, before. Or maybe this is a good thing that I didn't ask him."

- "What do you mean?" Claire looked at her daughter's face.

- "If Chase liked me, he wouldn't have said yes to Danielle." Maddie explained. "So, this is a good thing, I didn't ask him, because it would have been awkward, and I don't want to lose my friend." She sniffled. "But mom, I think my feelings for Chase are stronger than I thought. And it hurts so bad." Tears covered her cheeks again as she broke down.

Claire didn't move and just hugged her daughter as she cried.

Saturday, 26th January 2013

Leo had convinced Maddie to come to the dance, because 'she wouldn't want to miss that', he had said with an evil laugh.

- " Aww, where's Danielle? She dump you already?" Adam asked Chase.

- "No. She's in the bathroom." The genius replied.

- "Ah. She's probably climbing out of the window to get away from you." The tall guy chuckled.

Bree walked in, wearing the dress and top that Tasha founded and unsteady indigo heels.

- "Hello, boys." She walked and almost broke her ankles, five times.

- "Okay, if you're gonna dance in those shoes, I suggest wearing a helmet." Leo replied.

Bree, playfully, rolled her eyes.

- "M!" She yelled as her best friend walked in, wearing the red dress and black heels. "You're way better at this than me." The bionic girl snickered.

- "I used to wear my mom's heels, all the time when I was a kid, so I have practice." Maddie smiled. "He's behind you." She whispered.

Bree turned and walked to Ethan.

- "Looking good, Dee." Leo said.

- "You don't look so bad, yourself." She put her elbow on his shoulder.

- "Seriously? You're like 5'10 in these." He looked at her heels. "I already look like I'm microscopically small, next to you, when you're not wearing heels."

- "Well, it's not my fault I'm tall." The alien girl replied.

- "Yeah, it's not our fault if you, guys, are gnomes." Adam put him arm around her shoulder as he looked at Chase and Leo.

Maddie snorted as the two boys rolled their eyes. The group saw Bree twirling Ethan around with her super speed, and they ended up outside the door. They were talking and laughing, now.

- "Looks like she finally managed to talk to him." The alien girl smiled at the boys.

- "Yeah." Adam smiled. "If he hurts, I'm gonna cut him in pieces."

- "Count me in." Maddison responded.

- "Okay, psychos." Leo said.

- "There you are!" Danielle exclaimed. "Wanna dance?" She extended her hand to Chase.

- "Actually, I'm feeling a bit famished. I think it's time for the refrigerator." He grinned at Leo.

Oh, no.

- "Do your thing, big boy." The short boy replied and patted his brother's back.

- "Follow my lead." Chase grabbed Danielle's hand and walked to the middle of the dance floor.

- "Leo, what did you do?" Maddison asked.

- "You'll see." He grinned, deviously.

- "I don't like that smile." She replied.

- "Open the fridge." Chase started to dance badly and to sing. "Grab the eggs." Leo snuck out. "Open the mayo. Spread the mayo. All over your face. I want a pickle. Fishin' for a pickle." Maddie was laughing as she covered her mouth. Adam was dancing and looking carefully at Chase as he laughed too. "Now, grab that pickle and swing. Now, grab that pickle and swing."

- "Stop! What are you doing?" A mortified Danielle asked.

- "I'm swinging an invisible pickle!" Chase stopped smiling and realized he was embarrassing himself. "Oh."

Adam walked to Chase as Maddie wiped the tears in her eyes.

Gosh, I love Leo.

- "That was the worst thing I've ever seen, but it also brought me the most joy I've ever known." The tall guy explained to his brother. He, then, turned to Danielle. "Now, how 'bout I show you how a real hero dances?"

The genius walked to Maddie, who covered her smile.

- "I saw you laughing." He whispered.

- "I'm sorry, but that was hilarious. And cute but mostly hilarious." She replied.

Chase blushed. Adam danced with Danielle, and then threw her into the air. Her scream echoed in the room.

- "Talk about a lightweight." Adam like everyone in the room was looking at Danielle in the air. "Ooh, here she comes."

Danielle fell and Adam caught her.

- "Put me down!" She shouted as he obeyed.

- "Bet Chase can't toss you around like a rag doll." The tall guy grinned.

- "Get away from me!" She stormed away with decorations attached to her.

- "Oh, come on! I haven't even swung you around by your feet yet!"

The lights dimmed, the music changed, and Leo came into the room with four backup dancers.

- "Wait, that's Aunt Janice." Maddie murmured.

- "Cue it up, G!" A dance music played, Leo and the backup dancers started dancing. Adam danced, but Chase stopped him, since they were supposed to be mad at him.

- "Go Leo!" The alien girl shouted. "I know you're mad at him, but you have to admit, he's killing it." She whispered to Chase.

Leo ended the dance in a pose in the backup dancers' arms. Cheers and applause were heard. Chase stopped Adam.

- "All right, everybody, give it up for my Aunt Janice and her book club!" The short boy exclaimed.

Maddie waved at Janice, who smiled.

- "That was awesome!" Danielle said to Leo.

- "Oh, it's just a little something for the kids." He replied.

- "Shall we?" The blonde extended her hand and Leo, gladly, took it.

- "Consider it shall." He put her hand on his shoulder. "Easy on the cape, mama, it's custom." He shot a grin to his brothers as he walked away with Danielle.

Leo and Danielle were slow-dancing. He was resting his head on Danielle's shoulder. The song ended.

- "The song is over." The blonde took her hand back. The short boy wrapped his arms around her waist. "Hello?"

- "Oh, sorry." He pulled away. "You smelled so good, I kind of passed out." They both chuckled.

- "What is up, with your weird friends?" Danielle looked at Adam and Chase, who were fighting over nachos in a corner. "You'd think this is their first dance."

- "Actually, it is." Leo replied.

-"Ah. Homeschooled, huh?" She asked.

-"You have no idea."

- "So, wanna go get some punch?" The blonde questioned.

- "You know what? I gotta go." Leo walked over to Adam and Chase. He grabbed a chair to sit in front of them. "Hey, guys! What's up?"

The brothers turned their backs at Leo.

- "You already won, Leo." The genius said, sadly. "Do you have to rub our noses in it?"

- "I wanted to apologize." The short boy replied. "I'd never do something like this to my friends, but you guys aren't my friends."

- "Leo, "FIY," this is the worst apology ever." Adam said and Chase nodded.

- "I'm saying, you're not my friends, because you're my brothers." Leo explained.

The two brothers turned to face him, with small smiles.

- "Aww. Yeah, you're like the brother I never had." The tall guy replied.

- "Adam, you have a brother." Chase said.

- "No, I know. I said, like the one I didn't have." The latter answered.

- "You know, Leo, you're not the only one who should apologize." The genius boy said. "We've all been jerks."

- "Nah!" The short boy replied. "You know what? Let's never let a girl come between us again."

- "Deal." Adam and Chase said at the same time as their fists joined Leo's.

The three saw another pretty girl.

- "Starting tomorrow." Leo said before they all ran after the girl.

Bree and Maddie, who were looking for afar, shook their heads.

- "Are you okay, M?" The bionic girl asked.

- "Yeah." The Davenport girl gave her a look. "I promise. I rather have Chase has a friend than not have him in my life."

Bree hugged her best friend's side.

- "Bree, ready for another slow?" Ethan extended his hand to her.

She looked at her friend to be sure that she was okay. Maddie pushed her towards him. She walked to the boys who had stopped running.

- "I still don't know how to dance." Chase complained.

- "It's not that hard, Chase." The alien girl said.

- "Dee, you could teach him!" Leo exclaimed.

- "What?" She replied.

- "Why Maddie?" Adam asked.

- "Your moms taught us how to dance, together." He explained.

- "Okay. What do you say, Chase?" She extended her hand to him.

- "Let's do this." Chase smiled as he took it.

- "Come on." She led him to the dance floor. "It's a slow dance, so you put one of your hands, here." Maddie grabbed his right hand and put it on her shoulder blade. "Left hand up." He obeyed. "I put one of my hands, here." Chase, nervous, saw her left hand going on his shoulder. "And the other, here." She put her hand in his.

She was focused on teaching her friend. Even though, the butterflies in her stomach wouldn't stop. She ignored them and guided Chase, slowly, to swing from side to side.

- "Thank you for doing this." The genius boy said.

- "You're welcome." She smiled. "Now, you can make me spin. Slowly, not like Bree. And gently, not like Adam." The Matthews girl snickered.

Chase chuckled.

- "Yeah, that's probably better." His hand left Maddie's shoulder blade as his left hand made her spin slowly.

Maddie was closer to Chase, after the first spin, but neither minded. They just danced and laughed.

After a while, the siblings were in the middle of the dance floor with sunglasses.

- "Cue it up, G!" Leo yelled.

Adam, Bree, Chase, and Leo danced at the center of the crowd. Maddie cheered for them in the crowd.
