The Escape

*Peggy's POV*

All I could remember was the impact. Things went black for a while, but before I knew it, I was up and running again. I didn't look back at the crash. There was no way Angelica could've survived that.

Now she can't tell.

I shook my head and my thoughts and just kept running. I needed to get away. I couldn't delay. There was no time to second guess.

*At the hospital, Eliza's POV*

Everything today moved so quickly. My parents told me the surface of what happened, and before I could blink, we were in New Jersey, waiting to see Angelica.

Things just didn't add up anymore. First, Peggy's missing, and second, Angelica lied to the family. She never does that. I couldn't wrap my head around it anymore.

As we waited, time seemed to drag on. Everything was longer, and longer. It was unbearable. I couldn't stand it. I couldn't stand the silence, the waiting, I just couldn't stand anything.

After what seemed to be forever, my parents and only my parents were allowed to see her. I sighed to myself, both in relief and in regret.

I sat back in the chair and closed my eyes, trying to think of everything. Trying somehow, to make sense of this all. But I don't know if there even is any sense to be made of it.

My mind drifted back to Peggy. I wondered where she could have gone, where she is, or even if she was still alive.

Then, a thought popped into my head. Angelica was supposedly on a school trip the day Peggy went missing, and the day the Amber alert was sent out. She wasn't home to talk to the detective.

Was she..? No, no she wouldn't dare. Sure they fight, but she would never.

I shook my head before I allowed myself anymore thoughts.

God I hope she's okay.

All I wanted was for both of my sisters to be happy, healthy, and safe.

*Peggy's POV*

After walking for miles, I decided I needed to stop and grab something to eat and drink.

I entered the nearest gas station, and looked around, grabbing a bag of chips, a sandwich, and a fountain drink.

As I headed towards the check out, I noticed a poster. And on that poster was no other than me. I quickly hid behind a display and took a deep breath.

The cashier and an old man were talking about me. I started to panic. I dropped everything in my hands and ran out, hoping to go unnoticed.

Just as before, I found myself back on the run.
