Questioning

*Angelica's POV*

It's officially been a number of weeks since the car accident. I'm now home and recovering well. Apparently well enough to be bombarded with questions by the police regarding Peggy running away.

----

It was countless hours of questioning. The questions started to repeat. It was almost like I was being interrogated for a crime.

They'll never find out. You won't break. Keep your cool.

I kept repeating to myself over and over.

And again, the daunting question reined.

"Where were you the night Peggy ran off? And where were you the day we called the Amber alert?" Detective Rayburn asked again.

"I was home when Peggy left. Then when the amber alert was called, I was out of town." I said, looking at him.

I watched as he paced the room, shaking his head to himself.

He continued with more, minor questions, pressing me for answers.

I kept a straight face as he asked, giving my answers. I would occasionally look at my parents who were standing right outside of the room.

It was unusual; I couldn't read their faces like I normally could. Something was different about them, but I didn't know quite what it was.

---

After what seemed to be an additional hour of questioning, Detective Rayburn finally started getting into the big things.

I watched as he shook his head, and sat down across from me. I looked straight at him, waiting for him to speak.

"You see, what you're saying isn't conclusive. It doesn't add up." He started.

"The only fact that checks out with what you've told me is the fact that you were home the night your sister ran off. We called that camp that you were quote of quote staying at, and they said you never showed up. And then, a day later, you're in a car accident and we have on record that Peggy was in fact in the car with you. And that you perhaps may have encouraged your sister to run." Detective Rayburn said.

"So. Angelica, why did you do it?" He pushed.

I looked at him once, and then looked away.

He caught on and I was like a dear in the headlights, staring blankly.

"I'm not gonna ask you again! Why did you do it?"

*A/N: Again, sorry for the delayed update. Life gets in the way. But I want to draw something to your attention, in my previous books, you guys catch onto the lyrics that I slip in, and I love it, but please please, please don't spam the comment section continuing the song, it's just rude and annoying. That being said, I hope you enjoy this chapter and I'm trying to upload more. - Matthew.*
